We've been to Keke's Breakfast Cafe a few times, and it's a nice spot for a family breakfast. The location is convenient, there's plenty of parking, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a classic American breakfast place-casual and cozy. This time I ordered the Carolina Chicken Salad, and it was really good. For the kids, we chose the chocolate chip pancakes and chocolate chip waffles from the kids' menu. The only thing that left us a little confused was our children's order. The kids' meals normally come with scrambled eggs, bacon, and fruit. Since my girls didn't want the eggs or bacon, I simply asked if they could keep the fruit instead. Somehow there was a mix-up, and instead of the kids' portions, they brought full-size adult pancakes and waffles, plus a huge plate of fruit on the side. We let our server know because it was obviously more food than we ordered. They assured us we were still being charged for the kids' meals, but when the check came, the fruit had been added as a separate item. This Keke's is on the Delray Commons Shopping Center on the South West corner of Atlantic Ave. at the intersection of Military Road. This chain was started in 2006 by 2 brothers in that couldn't find a quality breakfast spot in Philly. Keith & Kevin combined the first 2 letters of heir names forming KeKe. They are now in Texas, California, Georgia, Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee & 65 locations all over Florida. I think my breakfasts are pretty good, so I don't usually go our for breakfast. This morning I met friends here who said it is the best breakfast around. They are known for large portions, cleanliness, good service & an endless menu. We all enjoyed brunch while takeout, delivery, & catering are options. I had a grilled chicken Carolina salad. My salad was fresh, and filled with all kinds of delicious cheese, pecan & vegetables. Friends enjoyed their Panini, BLT, omelettes and pancakes. Isabel, our waitress was very accommodating, providing separate checks and checking in on us often. I like the clean, bright, modern layout of this place... perfect for breakfast or lunch. My Ham & Cheese Omelet with Wheat Bread was very good. I usually don't have Home Fries, it came also and I have to say was very good as well. Pancakes were good. Everything served very hot, much appreciated. Unfortunately my omelet came out with no cheese in it, but it was still good, though a bit greasy and on the small side. The grits were excellent and piping hot, but the turkey bacon was disgusting. It wasn't cooked enough and it was clearly a cheap, processed brand of turkey bacon. It had a rubbery consistency and tasted awful - I spit out the bite I did have. After eating st 2 Keke's restaurants I can honestly say NEVER AGAIN. On the first occasion I was dining with friends at the Delray Beach location. My eggs Benedict came out hard and cold. By the time the new order arrived my friends had finished not to mention that one of them ordered bacon which never came but was charged for. They just opened a week ago but word of mouth has spread and it was busy! Expected a 25 min wait when we called to check if they were open. By the time we got here was quoted 15 but we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Food was great portion size and tasty too. Service was fantastic! Our server was Anna G and she checked on us numerous times and topped off our coffee multiple times as well. Honestly even better service than what we usually get in Boca restaurant. This is a second review for Keke's When I first wrote a review I failed to give credit to Alexandria, a lovely and efficient server whose efforts on the times I've visited went a long way in making the experiences as delightful as they were. 2nd edit: Frankly this is a bit embarrassing. Today I was going to the restaurant and tripped over a bit of curbing. My fault completely, but what really impressed me was that someone from the restaurant, whose name I have learned is Lenny, seemingly appeared from nowhere instantly, and was asking whether I was okay or needed help. Aside from a bit of embarrassment and trickle of blood, I was perfectly fine. No sooner were we seated in the restaurant then he was there offering me bandages and antiseptic. Everything about this visit was amazing. I brought my mother in a wheelchair. The host, Brandy, let us sit at a table in a section that was closed so as to not inconvenience my mom. The waitress, Alexandria, did everything to make us comfortable. She was there with coffee refills as if she was psychic. And the food? I found my new favorite omelette, the cheesesteak omelette and my mother said the blueberry pancakes were the best she's ever had. She enjoyed the whole experience so much she went back the next day with her friends. I think they missed the mark but it's a good try. The coffee is perpetually luke warm at best, never hot. The pancakes are oversized saucers of thick dough, they didn't taste bad per aay, but they weren't good. I had to keep dropping syrup into it, and the dough would just drink it up, waaay too much dough on the ratio. The bacon, eggs and service were good though. The apple cinnamon stuffing was perfect. My only dismay was the home fries which were very thinly sliced potatoes Which had little to No seasoning or taste. Don't get me wrong I ate them, but they were not up to the quality of the pancakes or French toast. My server was A+ and the place was clean with an industrial vibe. I really wanted to try this place, as I walked by the other day later in the day and it was closed, but it looked really nice inside. So this morning I made it business to go check it out for breakfast. inside was a very cold feeling not just literally but also in the ambience. My host and waiter, though trying seemingly hard to be friendly were equally as cold and distant. I ordered a fairly simple breakfast of three eggs over medium with rye toast, home fries, and bacon. I had a cup of decaf coffee while waiting for my food. The coffee was mediocre at best, but probably the best part of the entire experience. The eggs were overcooked, the home fries were half raw and half burnt., The bacon was excessively salty, -excessively, which is just indicative of a cheap product, and my rye toast was hardly toasted, seemingly closer to stale as there was no color whatsoever on the bread. To top everything off I paid my $22.72 bill with $100 bill -unfortunately I had nothing smaller. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I sensed some confusion would occur. Surely enough, my change came back as $72 flat. I sat for a moment and recounted the change a couple of times. Feeling a bit frustrated I walked up to the counter, which was empty...,not a person in sight and waited for about 3 to 4 minutes for someone to finally come. It was my waiter. He asked if he had made a mistake with the change, I yes it seems you did, I just wasn't sure if you all automatically took out gratuity or if you had miscalculated. (My attempt at trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.) He kind of fumbled about in his apron and stated oh yes, I'm sorry I made a mistake and he pulled out a five dollar bill. Still not satisfied, but pretty much at this point giving up, because I did not want to get any further frustrated with my day, I told him he can keep the five dollars for his tip and to have a good day. read more
