This place isn't bad. The food is just not good. My husband and I came late one weekend on a date night. We ordered a variety of food and it was meh. The drinks were extremely expensive and not worth the small fortune we paid for them. We sat at the bar so I can't really speak to the service, but there were not a lot of servers there. So today we decided to try this. I haven't heard much about it and now I know why. We had a great waitress but she was forgetful and slow. I really liked her, so this is nothing against her. We had so Philly cheesesteak and it was dry, very dry. The blackened chicken sandwich, which by the way came out 15 minutes after everyone else's food, was dry as dry can be. The crawfish was okay, not very tasty. It only had 1 corn and 1 slice of potatoes. The popcorn shrimp was okay, very breaded. Nothing was very great or very tasty. Everything was dry and nothing was wow! Like it wasn't anything that we would come back for. It makes me sad because it has live music and it could be really fun to visit for a good evening. The atmosphere was a whole vibe. The service was average. The food and drinks were horrible. I was there tonight for a birthday party of a colleague. I called them after we left because I was charged $100 plus for just my small order. Come to find out after speaking with Adam the manager they hit me with a 20% gratuity after we gave this dude a nice size tip. He damn sure took it and didn't utter a word about that damn 20% gratuity his manager claimed he told us. So everyone that placed an order at that table was hit with the 20% because it was a large party. It wasn't even my party I was an attendee. Then he said Brad our server told us. I had to break this child down because he was back and forth about what his server did and none of us knew this. If this was the case we wouldn't have called back questioning the overage. The drinks were straight sour didn't taste any alcohol. So we bought expensive ass sour juice. The wings with dry rub was straight nasty. The only decent food was sweet potato fries. Will not return there again. I was planning on have my birthday event there next month. Never ever will I let my guest get robbed for 20% plus extra tips for fucked up food and drinks. read more

Katy vibes has a cool patio! I love that almost every night they have some entertainment. The crawfish is great. They FINALLY have hired some adequate staff. I had a great server named Daniel. Extremely helpful and professional. Frozen drinks are usually pretty good, not as frozen as I'd like.. the crawfish is always really good!!! They have a dance floor and they do games sometimes! This place. This place is just kinda weird. It seems to be a new building. But you want in and it smells like...well smells like farts. It's childish to write this. But I'm telling you. It smelled. Came to watch a comedy show and told them "here to catch the show", they put us in the geographically furthest place from the stage possible. I saw some food come out and it looked good but ate before hand so can't y'all y'all about it. But again, looked great. I may come back and try the food if I'm in Katy again. You know what kills me? When a manager doubts his customers in such an ugly matter and almost question how did they managed to have that position? After getting so many complaints and yet later he realizes that we had a legitimate decision to be upset and takes EVERY SINGLE MUSCLE to simply apologize. Welp, that is what happened to us on a busy night! I came with a group of friends and my kids (8 of us in total) and we originally came to try their greatly reviewed crawfish. Maybe it was not wise to come in such a large group because the establishment cannot handle a party of (although most places typically EASILY can but OK). Our server was nice the entire time and I tried to give him some slack but it is hard to compromise with our experience so I will NOT mention his name for the sake of his integrity however, once he had seen the number of complaints from our table , it was as he POOF! Disappeared because he probably assumed that he will get the shorter end of the stick but ultimately he "kinda" did for abandoning us. For starters, the place was very loud for it to only be 6 pm, felt like we were in the club which I don't mind after 9 PM especially since they have so many awesome screens of music videos playing but as they were serving their full-course menu, I think that is a huge distraction. We ordered our drinks and the entire 3 hours that we were there (will later explain) we only got 3 refills! NEVER in my life have I been to a place where I get so little refills especially after we were all choking on our DRY, DRY, Heavily seasoned, bottom of the pot, overly cooked crawfish! I am sure people could see some of us choking on our food to where we had to share beverages from each other in order to have the season go down. Then we asked our server to take our meals back since we were not pleased with them and he brought the manager. After hours of awaiting our drinks and our food, I kid you not the manager was in our table in less than 5 minutes bringing one of the platters with crawfish back and asked us in a VERY condescending voice, why are we all complaining about the crawfish!? We were taken back and we complained how heavily seasoned and dry our crawfish was and to overcome that objection he stated the butter that we requested was indeed for our crawfish to taste better! Yes!! HE SAID THAT!!! I am no crawfish connoisseur BUT...I know how it should be cooked in the standards of mediocre at its best and for a lack of better words, we told him that maybe he should have a taste for himself and explain to the chef our hypothesis of not changing the water for the crawfish and allowing the season to stay in the bottom of the pot which caused for the bugs to have a heavy amount of salt and seasoning without withholding ANY water to add taste. Pissed off, the manager went back and we waited, waited and waited, then he came back and explained that indeed our hypothesis was accurate. The chef "FoRgOt" to change the water and he just dumped over 10 pounds of crawfish in the pot, how this is not a common mistake they make and that he is unable to comp us for the crawfish since we ate some (Ok, we had like 4 bugs) and that the best he can do is give us 25% off from the check for the inconvenience. When he offered the discount, I laughed and I told him I rather pay the extra 25% just so I can simply complain about the overall service on something I DID NOT eat but hey obviously this business needs the money more than I do since they could not fully comp the uneaten crawfish. At the end, he STILL gave me the discount which I was upset about so I left the remaining 25% of the bill as the tip to the server, not that he was great at his job and he was probably helping out on the dinning room for that night but at least I can say I paid the full ticket! But this is the funny part.... The manager never apologized but said "Sorry for the inconvenience" Like dude... Just say sorry Say sorry for: The awful service Bad attitude Uncomfortable environment (loud music) The lousy food and most of all FOR DOUBTING US!! Needless to say I will never, ever, in my life come and support this kind if business. Save yourself the trouble and go to any other place that has crawfish. Doesn't matter if that other place has awful crawfish but at least they will treat you with the upmost respect than this place!! Whats going on my Yelpers. So tonight I tried Katy Vibes for the first time. Seen the place a 100 times and decided to finally stop by. So for starters the staff at the front door were nice. We sat down and ordered some drinks and some food. Our server came over and said her name but it was hard to hear because of the music playing. The wait time for the food was good, it didnt take long and the food was okay. We got the nachos, the Vibe burger, and the crawfish with rice. I give the food a 7/10. And the prices were on the high side for what you get in quality. Still pretty decent like I said. So you're probably wondering why the 3 stars. Well our waitress forgot our drinks, she maybe checked in on us 3 times (mind you they were not busy while we were there) and while she did ask if everything was good that was before we ran out of our drinks and were waiting to get more. The manager even came by and took our glasses but didnt bother to ask if we needed anything else to drink or a refill. Still not a problem. When the waitress came again we reminded her about our drinks and she got them for us but we had already started eating, would of been nice to have them before. All in all the place wasnt bad, the DJ was actually setting up and getting ready but we had been there long enough we were ready to go. The saving grace was the food, since I am big on service and food. Been here a few times now, once when it was briefly called vortex...fun place, huge tv screens, stage for live music, decent sized patio. Something weird was going on with the hostess situation when we walked in, but we managed to get out to the patio. I went to Katie Weiss for my birthday on St. Patrick's Day what a great birthday it ended up being. Super awesome St. Patrick's Day vibe! It ended up being karaoke night which was a great bonus we were not expecting that. We had crawfish crab legs and oysters and everything was awesome. The voices were a little bit small but I think it was just a seasonal thing. Does it say they light hot better order the medium unless you actually like your lips and face to feel like it's on fire. Because I love hot spicy things and I could not think of anything besides my face being on fire. Also the spice they used was a bit salty so it was hot and salty. The medium bugs we're exactly what I needed I had to re-order because the hot we're just too ridiculous. The mediums were what the hot should've been super hot but enjoyable. They had green beer and awesome green tea shots! They also had a patio area that had a really cool fire element and if it hadn't been so windy that would've been nice as well. Overall I had a super excellent birthday hanging out at Katy Vibes! I will definitely definitely go to this place again it looks like they had a large area for a dance floor and a big stage for musical guest or concert or something like that. Yesterday was my first visit to Katy Vibes and I truly enjoyed myself!!! We were greeted nicely and immediately taken to our table, which was in front of the stage. I had a pina colada which I enjoyed. I ordered the catastrophic wings and the crawfish rice. The wings were good and the rice was okay. The prices were reasonable which is always a plus!! We immensely enjoyed the jazz singer Ms. Kim and the band. I will be sure to bring cash next time because when paying with a card you have to give your card until you are finished. Now I am not sure if it was because we were a group of 10 or if that is just standard. Either way, I will have cash next time. Overall, it was a great experience and I will return!!! read more

Well went there today and was disappointed. Took a while to get our food. Both of which were starters. If the starters are so what is the west like. We had the chicken wings. It was priced abt the pound. Or 12 that was a dollar a wing. Hooters is priced better and the wings are neater. We also ordered pickles and Okra. They had a good flavor but to costly. Now the tv. After seeing a post on this page, I decided to try the lunch portion Chicken Fried Steak at Vortex. Interesting place, but not sure if their goal...is it a sports bar?, a restaurant?, a music venue? The ambiance is a mix of all in your basic industrial style. Here's the scoop, mixed sautéed veggies comprised of green and summer squash, onions and carrots. Lighted seasoned with oil, salt and pepper. They were well prepared, squash was firm and carrots crunchy - good job. The mashed potatoes were fresh russets, with skins left on. I like them this way. The CFS was about 5-6 Oz. And surprisingly a bit thick and not totally pounded out, yet was very tender. The meat was seasoned lightly with salt and a bit heavier with pepper (which I like). The breading adhered to the meat very well and was incredibly crunchy! The gravy was just ok, could have used some more pepper. In all, a very nice CFS that can hold its own with others in the Katy area and the best of all, it was only $10 (dinner size is $15). read more

This place was a pleasant surprise!! The ambiance is nice and the food was delicious. I ordered the whole tilapia for my entree and the mushroom appetizer. EVERYTHING was sooooo yummmmyyy. My husband ordered the seafood plate and crab cakes and he wasn't complaining. He really enjoyed the crab cakes. Angel was our waiter, he was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
