The road into the place is terrible. Probably should have a 4x4. The band was awesome. There was little AC so very hot and sweaty. The bathrooms are small. Watch your bill and drinks. Some bartenders are good at pouring. Others are not. Definitely overcharged us and we had to wait for them to look at cameras to verify. Eventually gave us cash back for the overcharge after we had to go through that kind of scrutiny. Otherwise a great hole in the wall live band place. read more

We came for a concert on a Thursday night. Loved this place-- I can't say anything negative about it. Great drink selection and the bartenders were amazing. Drinks were worth it for sure. This is our all time favorite music venue and beer joint! Although it's not a sports bar they usually have afternoon Astros games playing on the weekends. Excellent staff no matter the day or time. Went here for the first time for a concert. We reserved a table, which was nice but not for 80 dollars. That's including the price of two tickets to get in. The sound quality inside the bar was not the best, cool spot, can see the stage well just sound bounced all over and was hard to hear the words at time. Another ding, yes I know it's a bar, but everyone who smoked outside had the smoke just blowing into the place. We stunk to hell of smoke and had to breathe it in all night. Another massive issue, not sure if it was the band or the venue but they started over an hour and a half late, the opening act, who is a local band played for like an hour! They were ok but how did they play longer than the main act? The 2nd band was decent and had a good time slow but we didn't get home till past 1:00am for a 700pm show. The only good around was a good truck as well. We didn't get anything so can't comment on that. I would say the bar staff/waitress was excellent. Would I come back for a show? This place is fun, they almost always have live music on the weekends, small stage inside, a medium sized stage out the back door, and a rather large stage outside across a bridge. people host wedding receptions, cook-offs and other events, but it's also just a fun bar! We saw this place on an episode of bar rescue and decided to check it out, we've been several times since then. Dart board, pool table, cornhole boards scattered around....cold beers and a few food trucks to check out if you get hungry. The road to the bar is ROUGH! Very sketchy stretch filled with potholes, but don't let it stip you, the place is worth the venture. I've been coming to this establishment since it was a simple ice house called "Bryant's Ice House". It's changed ownership a few times, but is now under the carful stewardship of some truly hardworking and resilient people. Since they have purchased the bar, hurricanes, flooding, and freezes have not only challenged their business, but it's destroyed their home too. None of this has deterred them from realizing their dream. That is something that I personally respect and applaud. While going through all of this they have always been a pillar of support in the local community, supporting local musicians, including kids at School of Rock, and local kids sports teams too. The main bar is well decorated and welcoming. The property at large spans over several acres, all providing space for a quiet drink to wrap up a Sunday or for a full blown concert to see some great nationally recognized acts. The concerts are what sets this place apart from the norm. If for nothing else, come and have a beer and toast the ownership and team for realizing the American dream. Despite living in Katy my whole life, I had no idea a gem like this existed. I happened to come out with some friends recently to see a live band that was playing. So there are a couple different spaces/bars both indoor and outdoor. My friends and I were dying in the heat at the outdoor bar but stayed for the band. I would imagine it would be really nice to be out at this place during fall or spring. Place is really cute in like a ruggish country kind of way. It looked like majority of the crowd was on the older side but we youngin's fit right in no problem. Also there were a couple places here and there for a perfect picture moment! It looked like they had a pretty simple drink menu but we had no complaints! Bartenders took good care of us despite the many people. The drinks were decently priced and not too diluted. My husband and I decided to join some good friends here for their all-you-can-eat (AYCE) crawfish boil from 2 until they run out. We sat outside since it was a pleasant day. Our waitress greeted us in a friendly manner and gave us our drinks and wristlet to get our crawfish. The quality of the crawfish was good. The spices were hot enough but not too hot to hide the flavor of the crawfish. The complimentary corn and potatoes were delicious. My husband opted for their wings and chose the spicy lemon pepper and a sweet tangy flavor. He was satisfied with both. We will be back...the only thing that annoyed me was a group of kids were playing and accidentally threw a ball towards my head. I'm not sure who the chaperone was, but I suggest that the kids need to be told not to throw at patrons. Otherwise it was a pleasant experience for me. read more

After giving this some thought I have decided to update my review. I hate to change my review to one star but after words with the owner, I will never be returning. It's a shame as my wife and I really enjoyed coming here. The food is great and the setting is comfortable. But due to his actions, I'm done with Wildcatters. I mentioned to Jeff that some of the pictures on his website and facebook page were ones that I took and posted on yelp and was told "they were his and that he took them" needless to say it went downhill from there. It really wouldn't have been a big deal, but the way it was handled was unprofessional and unpleasant. Original review below: Nice local bar, we have been a few times since the makeover. I have to say I like coming here. A very relaxed setting and they have covered outdoor seating. All the waitresses have been friendly and the prices are reasonable. We had the wings and shoestring fries during out last visit. The wings were hot, fresh and perfectly cooked. The only thing I would change would be to offer a hotter sauce. The nittro flaming lips was very mild. The shoestring fries were hot and fresh as well, think they may have had a light batter on them, tasty! Looking forward to trying the beef steak sandwich next time. On our last visit the owner was going table to table checking on the guest. Big place with many tables. My fiance ordered 2 beers which were cold and delicious. I ordered a Texas Star which was like a alcoholic Shirley temple. I also ordered one of their specialty drinks which was one of the reasons I came here. For something different which we saw on Bar Rescue. I was told they probably didn't have the ingredients and the waitress didn't like that drink anyway. Oh and she didn't know how to even make it. I was very disapointed and ended up ordering another drink that I can get anywhere. Food wise we ordered the zucchini and nachos made with waffle fries. Both were good. Nachos were very rich but addicting. Atmosphere was clean. Smokers and most the people were regulars. Seemed for an older generation and for people who live around there. I'm giving this place two stars only because it could be a good place to see live music. We went to the Whiskey Myer show and it was a disaster! We waited along the feeder road approximately 20 minute only to pay $10 for parking which was difficult. There wasn't even any lights to help guide us nor did the parking attendants have flashlights to help. Once inside, we waited in line at an outside bar during the entire opening performance to get drinks. We enjoyed the band, but too bad we saw the whole thing while waiting in line. Our friends went to the inside building to see if it was better. However that was worse. It had only two bartenders to serve a packed house. Once we finally got up order our drinks, we were served warm beer since it was thrown into the ice chest of melted ice a minute before. We requested cold or at least cool drinks. They did find us some. The poor bartenders were understaffed. They remained positive and worked quickly every time I saw them, but they just needed more help. People were standing on the barstools to watch Whiskey Myer which was a disaster waiting to happen. This could be a decent place to listen to music, but they are not anywhere near ready for a crowd like what Whiskey Myers beougjt Update: We had plans to go back tonight based on a private message from Justin at the Wildcatter. He addressed each issue I had with problem solving and not excuses. He invited us out tonight and hoped I would review again, good or bad. The rain kept us away, but I hope they live up to the solutions he offered up which would address the problems we experienced. I really respected how he handled the Whiskey Myers review I wrote. Awesome place and awesome owners! I've lived in Katy a few years and I would say it's a "hidden gem." They are family friendly and often have kid events. At Easter they did a big egg hunt for kiddos and then an adult egg hunt the next day. I only attended the kid egg hunt and it was a great time for all that participated. There is indoor and outdoor seating with lawn games, outdoor stage, tv's inside, some arcade games, and an outdoor stage for live music. They also have a building they rent out for parties and I've seen the inside and it's very nice! We had the crawfish there last weekend and YUM!!! Awesome flavoring and good price!
