I can eat in this place 3 to 4 times a week without any problem. The chicken shwarma, also called a chicken sandwich is delicious. I once tried the garlic "white sauce" spread and loved it as well. The only problem is that you will not be able to get the smell off your breath for 12 hours. All of the traditional side dishes are delicious. Try the "yogurt and tomato" pattie. My friend yelped this after going to a yelp event, and I must say, this place was great. My friends said that they had the tastiest chicken shwarma they had ever had. One of them is picky (in a good way) about food so it was great to hear how much he loved it. I didn't feel like meat, and opted for the stuffed pepper. While I was hesitant to eat something that looked as though it was cooked hours ago, it was so so tasty. The guy that served us behind the counter was super friendly as well. Agree with all the positive reviews here, but minus one star because when it's busy they will often forget your order and you will be left standing around in that cramped place in a very sour mood. My favorite Lebanese food I have found anywhere as of yet. The kufta kabob plate with hummus and tabbouleh is my favorite--with their incredibly potent garlic sauce to supplement! I DREAM OF THIS PLACE since leaving NYC and whenever I go back it is always one of the first restaurant stops, even if it is all the way down in Bayridge. This place is amazing. The chicken shwarma and lamb shwarma are the best I have had, and I have had a lot of shwarmas; from Rome, to the California, to New York. The staff is friendly and they take cash or credit card, which is a rare convenience in the New York small restaurant scene. Chicken shwarma. So delicious! So mouth-wateringly. The aroma and whole Atmosphere is so good. The garlic sauce is perfectly blended and the service was wonderful!. Plus, theprice is right. And, it's open late night! We went there after trying to find a decent place to eat and walked around 5th avenue. Towards the car dealership, was creepy and scary. But we found this restaurant warm and comfortable. No show offs, no valet parking pushers and definately, no spoiled young adults here! Plus we bumped into a couple that told us to enjoy this resturant over the fany new one, because the people here were down to earth and not trying to be over the top, with loud music, snotty waiters and waitresses and owners that are spoiled kids with money to blow. Okay so I am a regular customer at Karan. I often come for their shawarma, which is delicious. Today I decided to bring guests with me from another state and I was very shocked at the customer service that I received. One of the women with me asked if they serve whole wheat pies and we got the answer of "I don't know what you want. What are you talking about." In 2017, it is okay to ask if a restaurant serves whole wheat ANYTHING. after that answer, the man serving us was very rude through out the process and I am very disappointed. Also, the falafel was burned on the outside and raw on the inside, which they wouldn't take as a critique. I suggest the staff works on their customer service skills. And shall I mention that this was all at 8:00am? Ps. A goodmorning would have been nice too! read more

I've heard great things about the food but the customer service here is lacking. The schwarma is tasty. I liked the red/pink veggie they add in there. The tabouli was good - not spicy. The za'atar was also good, but not fresh. I don't know how long it was sitting there, but it seemed like they just microwaved it and handed it to us. The juices are freshly squeezed and not too sweet. I think some items are overpriced but the cheaper items may not be fresh. Soo. I'm not sure if the issue is because I don't look Arab or if maybe it's cultural differences, but I noticed that my Arab friends were greeted and treated much differently than I was. It was like they were annoyed just having to deal with foreigners and I'm glad I didn't go alone, or maybe they would have spit in my food. I was the only one that got the evil eye from one of the cooks out on a smoke break and was ignored by the staff. I guess the silver lining is that the guy at the cash register was creepily attentive to one girl, but was equally rude to everyone (including the girl)?? Don't worry, Karam. Also got the mix grilled combo but the chicken was a bit dry. No worries, hommous to the rescue. This is one of the places that makes me wish I still lived in Brooklyn. For some reason, I cannot seem to find ANY Middle Eastern food in the area I reside in NJ, so when I visit Bklyn, this is one of the places I go to first. The obvious first choice to eat here is the chicken schwarma sandwich, but the combo platter is even better since you have a choice of two sides and the smoky eggplant baba ganoush, as well as lemony tabbouleh, are some great choices. I love the falafel as well, and it goes perfectly with the pickled beets that accompany it. The garlic toum paste is otherworldly, as well as the tahini sauce and the spinach pie is zesty and tasty, even with no feta in sight. Service is curt, and take out is highly recommended due to space limitations, but who cares when the food is so freakin' excellent...? read more

This place is delicious. First of all, the guys behind the counter are very friendly and appreciate new customers coming in to sample their foods. I arrived and mentioned that it was my first time, but that I'd heard good things. Immediately, the person nearest the shawarma was instructed to prepare a "shawarma shot" for me. So, free of charge, I was able to eat a few slices of chicken with a lump of garlic sauce served in a little paper bowl. This resulted in my placing an order for the chicken shawarma on my second visit to Karam, which was within two days of the first. On the first visit, I picked up a kafta sandwich. I also had some of the stuffed grape leaves as a side. Everything I ate was a respectable portion, and was well-made. Quality ingredients, and the result was tasty. Recommend heartily. read more
