Overall it was pretty good ramen for just opening. As business goes I'm sure they will definitely get a lot better! The fried pork belly definitely needed a sauce for it, had to ask for a sauce for it which made it a lot better. The charsu pork don was definitely delicious the sauce that came with it was the perfect topping to it all. I wish they had chili oil on the side of the table to spice up your flavor of ramen. The best ramen...ever? The short answer is YES! I've always liked ramen but I never understood the fanatical devotion some people have for it. I've eaten at nice ramen houses but I never said to myself, "this is amazing" or anything. Even the places I thought were really good never enticed me enough to go back on a regular basis. Now I understand why people love ramen! I got the pork belly appetizer and the Spicy Tonkotsu ramen. My only regret is getting the pork belly because I didn't have enough room for a second bowl despite how delicious the pork was. I'm already planning to go again, I just hope they stick around. Historically, restaurants haven't done well at this location because its tucked away on the South West end of Spenard. Wonderful ramen, BUSY, definitely do the waitlist thing online prior to arriving because there is no waiting room and limited seating;not walk in friendly but I lucked out! I ordered the spicy tonkotsu with extra spicy sauce which turned out to be perfectly heated if you're into spicy. Lychee green tea was a bit too sweet for me but went down refreshingly after I slurped up all my noodles! Atmosphere was definitely warm, filled with cooking smells which are a bit heavy on the nose and throat so if you're sensitive or have asthma don't sit at the bar. Food came pretty fast but the french fries appetizer didn't taste like they had been cooked recently and the ramen was good but not great.

This is a great tribute to real Japanese Ramen! My family and I lived in Japan for several years so my wife and I had to stop in here to get a taste. We were not disappointed! We had the gyoza, Spicy Miso Ramen and Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. All the dishes were delicious! Amazing authentic ramen. This place is quality and you can see the chefs making your food infront of you. Has a bar to watch, or rrgular sit down chairs. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen, while my SO ordered Katsu. We're both coming from pre-packed top ramen, this is mind-blowing. Highly recommend. We were shocked to find an authentic ramen shop in Alaska. We travel to Japan often and I can confirm this place is the real deal. Everything tasted on point and fresh! The Tonkotsu broth was rich and flavorful. The staff was very friendly. The decor was nice and spotless clean. We would come here often if we lived here. The prices were actually very reasonable. Restaurants in Alaska were crazy expensive, but this place was pretty much on par with California and Florida. I definitely recommend it! My first time at Kami Ramen I waited weeks and months to go here because it's always so busy. I had stopped in quickly one time before but they were Not cooking fried rice that night so I didn't order anything. This time I ordered online for pickup as they suggested for pickup. I ordered the Chicken Tomato Fried Rice. No big surprise they were Not cooking fried rice that afternoon so I ended up with Shoyu Ramen. They actually called me back and said No fried rice so I was already prepared and ordered the Shoyu Ramen. Is it just me or if you have something permanently listed on your menu shouldn't you actually have it available every day your open or shouldn't you say on the menu Monday Wednesday Friday only or Tuesday Thursday Saturday only? So these people are extremely overwhelmed 50% good 50% bad. Everyone wants their food and their restaurant is so small they just can't handle everything. Most of their Ramen comes with Nori (Edible Seaweed). When they called me back about my online order and wanted to replace my Chicken Tomato Fried Rice. I said sure no problem I'll have the Shoyu Ramen and Please I beg you No Nori. For a second and third time No Nori I can't have Nori I'm allergic to it!!!!! Of course they placed the Nori right on top of all the other ingredients. Fortunately they place all the ingredients on a plastic top plate above the soup for take out and pick up. You're supposed to dump all the ingredients into the soup when your ready to eat it for take out and pick up. So I was able to just carefully lift off all the Nori and then dump the rest of the ingredients into the soup and eat away. If they had given me this Ramen soup with all the Nori already in the soup. I would have had to take it back or throw it all out. So the Shoyu Ramen with out Nori was great pretty good I'd say 4 stars out of 5 stars. Very expensive though this should be a $10 or $12 Ramen but even with a small tip it was $16.50. I've given a 3 star rating here overall because they got my order wrong and actually placed an item I have a food allergy to in my order. My Ramen noodles even after being placed in the soup and being vigorously stirred around were still clumped and stuck together a little maybe that's normal for Ramen? I don't eat much Ramen but loved this Ramen and I will go back especially for their Ramen. These guys are making so much money I'm not sure why they haven't moved into a much bigger restaurant already but I'm sure that's coming soon I hope? They're missing some basic stuff here I mean get the order correct is just basic. Don't give people foods they are allergic to especially when they've asked over and over again to Not have that specific food in their order. Ambiance is spread very very thin although very cute Japanese vibe trying to groove me but not exactly getting there. read more
