It was great to run into this no frills restaurant. Food reminds me of Dennys. You can get Hawaiian favorites quickly and don't have to pay the elevated price. There were daily specials starting at $5. You order at the front and get a number. They will deliver the food to your table. Quick and friendly service for fraction of ocean view restaurant.

The restaurant was clean and friendly. Plenty of parking. The hosts really exhibited the Aloha spirit. And our server was nice. We ordered the Saimin and the Hawaiian garlic shrimp. It was very good. I'd come back to enjoy some Hawaiian comfort food at Kalei's again!

Stopped here for lunch yesterday. You go up and order your food. We ordered loco moco and chicken Katsu. Pretty big portions we split the two between my husband and my daughter and I.Was good. I liked the sauce they gave him for the chicken Katsu. Loco mocha was good we got it with onions and mushrooms on it. Wish that we didn't. Was pretty good. Macaroni salad was all right.

Food was sooo good! They give a lot in their plates too so I'd say portion is perfect. You order at the counter and it's pretty spacious inside so good place to take the family out. The workers are so friendly here too so you'll always get good service when you go in.

IMHO Discovered Kalei's franchise on our last visit and was very impressed. This trip, we dined at Kalei's three times because their food, service, portion and price were consistently good. On our first visit this trip, we ordered the Crispy Pork Belly Plate, $19, and the Cheap Eats special of Mochiko Chicken, hot dog, rice and corn, $7. Did I mention their all-day Happy Hour special on Miller Lite, Coors Light, and Heineken is $3.50?!! On our second visit, I decided on the 'Hangover" which consisted of a cheeseburger & fries plus a bowl of saimin, for only $16. Hubby ordered the "Four meat special", mochiko chicken, beef, hot dog and Pork (?) with rice and corn for $12 (?), I think. Our last visit, we enjoyed a Breaded Ono burger, $11, a Cheeseburger, $13, and a side of crinkle fries, $5, and a dessert order of Chantilly croissants (which they are known for), $7.50. If you're trying to save money on your Maui meals, get thee to Kalei's for great local food, great portions, great service, and great prices! You will return again, and again!!!

We stopped by Kalei's and knew it was going to be good the second we walked in and saw the entire place full of locals. That's usually the universal island sign that you found the right spot. We ordered Da Bento, the crispy chicken mandu, and the $12 four meat plate special. Honestly, everything was good. Portions were huge and packed with classic Hawaiian comfort food flavors. The meats were flavorful, the fried items had a great crunch, and the rice tied everything together perfectly. The crispy chicken mandu was probably the sleeper hit. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and hard to stop eating once you start. The Da Bento gave a little bit of everything, which was perfect for trying multiple local-style dishes in one plate. The four meat plate special felt like a challenge issued directly to my stomach and somehow still disappeared. This isn't a fancy touristy Instagram-food type of place. It feels authentic, relaxed, and local. Just solid Hawaiian comfort food served in big portions with people around you who clearly eat there regularly. Definitely worth stopping by if you want real local plate lunch vibes while in Maui

Casual eatery for locals and tourists alike. Menu offers selections for all day eating options (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Front and serving staff are welcoming but I can see them getting overwhelmed when service gets busy around lunchtime between takeouts and dine-in. Food service is efficient and orders are delivered in a timely manner. So far I've enjoyed 2 meals this vacation and glad to have tried Kalei's. The best menu option is their build your own loco Moco with a choice from different proteins. Will return again.

Great quick-service spot in the Lahaina Cannery, and well priced too! Each plate lunch comes with white rice and mac salad. The shoyu chicken is braised thigh in a sweet sauce. I really liked the mochiko chicken as well - crispy, sweet, and not dry! The teri beef wasn't the best cut of meat out there but it does the trick. Overall an ideal place for a larger group, the restaurant space is large and inviting. Located near anchor drugstore spots (Long's Drugs, ABC Store, Safeway), great pre-beach lunch meal.

When you're on the West side be sure to check out Kalei's Restaurant. So simple.. Upon arriving check out the menu, order your food and pay at the cashier, they will bring your food to you. Many local food to choose from, we had the breakfast before heading out to Kula! Came back at the end of the day for take out to grind at the hotel. Beautiful relaxing restaurant, also don't forget to pick up some merch bags & stationary gifts sold near the front. Mahalo Kalei's!

Our first time trying Kaleis. You have to order first and seat yourself anywhere. The food was really tasty, fulfilling and satisfying. My bf ordered big kahuna he said it was delicious. I ordered da bento it was a really big portion very crunchy for the mochi chickens, shrimp. Overall was yummy with different kinds of meats. My son ordered cheese burger with fries off the kids meal, just have to add your preference of condiments from the table. The diner was nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Service of the food wait during dinner was 10mins, pretty fast! Overall we will be coming back again when we're in Lahaina

I am 99.8% sure this is chicken katsu but there is a very slight margin of error in my memory.

We usually eat at Kalei's Lunchbox in Wailuku as our first stop in Maui. We love the food, the staff and the people, in that order. We were excited to learn they were opening a location in Lahaina, in the Cannery (next to Safeway), and decided to try it for dinner last month (March 2026). It's very spacious and clean, and everything is new and shiny (they opened this location fairly recently). You order at the front desk, they give you a number and then they'll bring your food out when it's ready. The menu is on one of those electronic boards above the desk. They may have had hard copy menus, but one wasn't offered to me. I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember what I got, but I *think* it was the chicken katsu. They let me sub a green salad for the mac salad which made my gut very happy since green isn't a prominent color in our vacation fare. My husband got the mochiko chicken. His mochiko chicken portion was very generous, enough for him to have leftovers the next day. They were a bit more stingy with the katsu. Both dishes were prepared well. The restaurant itself was freezing. If I had to guess, I'd say the A/C was set at 67 or lower. The practically subzero temps made it hard to enjoy my meal; I was hell bent on getting out as quickly as possible in hopes of thawing out though the weather during our visit was less than ideal. I'm happy there is another restaurant in Lahaina and happier that it is affordable and serves good food. I just happen to like the location in the Maui Lani shopping center better than this one.

Casual dining, the former location of Dennys. Order/Pay at the counter and find your own seating. Food is brought to you. Ordered the furikake mochiko chicken. Nice crispy crunch, yet chicken is still tender and juicy. The batter had a slight hint of sweetness to it from the mochiko breading. I would definitely order again. Also ordered the club double patty blt burger. It's an interesting twist as it's like a patty melt, but also a club sandwich in one. Instead of burger buns, it's bread like an actual club sandwich. Prices are decent.

This is a favorite go to spot. Food and service remind me of local family care. Desserts are a must: Kona Mud Pie and Guava shortbread cookie are my picks. Our family happened upon this gem and it was so great we ate there twice during our short Maui visit. Service was outstanding. Food reasonably priced and also outstanding!!! Quick late lunch after Honolulu Bay excursion. Loco Moco and two daily specials of hamburger patty and mochiko chicken. Having eaten at the Waikiki just three days previously, we were disappointed to find a different level of execution. The cooking was fine. The details not so much. The gravy lacked the depth and intricacies of the previous location. Things were extras versus just part of the recipe. The mochiko chicken was good not great as before. Popped in for a quick dinner, and that's exactly what we got! This new spot is bright and has ample seating. Order up and pay at the counter and find your seat after. We had the shrimp and Da Bento plate, shrimp were the highlight, the teriyaki beef was pretty dry unfortunately. Was helped quickly by staff and they checked in on us throughout the dining experience. We saw the food runners consistently walking around and looking for people to help and cleaning tables. The food was excellent and came in generous portions. We tried the bento and the slow-cooked pork, and both were delicious flavorful, tender, and really comforting. We loved the food and the friendly island vibes. I had the short ribs and they were delicious. The macaroni salad was also tasty. My hubby had the loco moco. The hamburger was cooked perfectly as was the egg. The food here is plentiful and the service is prompt. The staff made sure we had boxes and even came by to refill our drinks. nah fr, this is gas. im from SD and am used to getting a quick burrito for the low when im tryna munch, this is on par with that- but make it hawaiian. classic plate lunch (for dinner this time) and it's stupid fire. stop here for something late night and it's gonna slap. i got the teriyaki under the local favs section (peep all options under this label) if you're from the states and like panda- it's that vibe but on steroids. they subbed the mac for fries and holy... im glad i did. these made the plate 5/5 stars. unreal. (disclaimer, i ordered this to-go and ate it at my hotel). cannot comment on quality of service, however i will point out the cashier's jewelry was quite loud if you're easily overstimulated. read more

We went here for the first time yesterday for breakfast it's all new and pretty inside. The service is good, it's a bit different you go up and order and pay, then they bring your food. We had croissants they were huge and so yummy!!! They looked so good I forgot to even take a picture ‍ all and all this was a very nice experience. Kaleis food is great and the Pukalani location and Wailuku location are amazing. But just know if you order takeout and dont tip in Lahaina good luck. Multiple times they have made rude comments and left my order on the back counter while handing out other orders and shining my food. I didn't want to post negative reviews before because they seem like a great local company and I appreciate what they do but after today's experience in Lahaina. Upon visiting Maui 3 years ago, I stumbled upon Kaleis food truck by the airport. Loved the fried mahi plate. Couldn't wait to come back upon my return three years later. Now, they have a physical store by the airport which we went to. Still the same great food. Also, had to try the one in Lahaina before flying back home. The big kahuna plate was the bomb. Tater tots and the Cobb salad were also good. The inside feels a little like an upscale Denny's. It is very clean and all the staff are friendly. This is THE place to go for Hawaiian plate lunch. Air conditioning! Affordable, clean, delicious food. Our family has been coming in to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and each time the food has been delicious and good size. It has given us a place to meet friends and family in Lahaina, next to the grocery store. My favorite is the Chantilly pancakes, the Cobb salad with seared ahi, hamburger steak plate, and their desserts! Kalei's is locally owned and a big giver to the community. Mostly visit Kalei's Pukalani, since I live in the upcountry area.....Always friendly service, the food is always on point never disappointed. Portions are perfect, food delicious as always. Ono Grinds & Aloha Spirit at Kalei's! From the moment we walked into Kalei's, we felt like ohana. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The prices were really reasonable and the portion sizes were really big!! The service here was also really amazing. You have to go up to order it's not like a typical restaurant in that regards but the workers are really friendly. The overall ambiance is really nice as well which I appreciate. One other thing I really loved is they have gluten free options! I have celiac and I left with no pain and a full stomach. read more

I think were calamansi-- just delicious!! The green beans came with crispy, garlic, and spicy Fresno peppers on top and we're cooked to a chard perfection. Would definitely return. With dessert I like to drink Decaf but this restaurant does not serve decaf. But unbelievably the manager, Rob, walked across front street to the restaurant there, where he ordered me a decaf, then walked it back across the street and hand-delivered it right to our table. I have never seen service like this. The service from both the manager and our server Nico was way over and above. They made my wife and my anniversary dinner very special and memorable.
