IMHO Discovered Kalei's franchise on our last visit and was very impressed. This trip, we dined at Kalei's three times because their food, service, portion and price were consistently good. On our first visit this trip, we ordered the Crispy Pork Belly Plate, $19, and the Cheap Eats special of Mochiko Chicken, hot dog, rice and corn, $7. Did I mention their all-day Happy Hour special on Miller Lite, Coors Light, and Heineken is $3.50?!! On our second visit, I decided on the 'Hangover" which consisted of a cheeseburger & fries plus a bowl of saimin, for only $16. Hubby ordered the "Four meat special", mochiko chicken, beef, hot dog and Pork (?) with rice and corn for $12 (?), I think. Our last visit, we enjoyed a Breaded Ono burger, $11, a Cheeseburger, $13, and a side of crinkle fries, $5, and a dessert order of Chantilly croissants (which they are known for), $7.50. If you're trying to save money on your Maui meals, get thee to Kalei's for great local food, great portions, great service, and great prices! You will return again, and again!!!

Our first time trying Kaleis. You have to order first and seat yourself anywhere. The food was really tasty, fulfilling and satisfying. My bf ordered big kahuna he said it was delicious. I ordered da bento it was a really big portion very crunchy for the mochi chickens, shrimp. Overall was yummy with different kinds of meats. My son ordered cheese burger with fries off the kids meal, just have to add your preference of condiments from the table. The diner was nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Service of the food wait during dinner was 10mins, pretty fast! Overall we will be coming back again when we're in Lahaina

When you're on the West side be sure to check out Kalei's Restaurant. So simple.. Upon arriving check out the menu, order your food and pay at the cashier, they will bring your food to you. Many local food to choose from, we had the breakfast before heading out to Kula! Came back at the end of the day for take out to grind at the hotel. Beautiful relaxing restaurant, also don't forget to pick up some merch bags & stationary gifts sold near the front. Mahalo Kalei's!

I am 99.8% sure this is chicken katsu but there is a very slight margin of error in my memory.

We usually eat at Kalei's Lunchbox in Wailuku as our first stop in Maui. We love the food, the staff and the people, in that order. We were excited to learn they were opening a location in Lahaina, in the Cannery (next to Safeway), and decided to try it for dinner last month (March 2026). It's very spacious and clean, and everything is new and shiny (they opened this location fairly recently). You order at the front desk, they give you a number and then they'll bring your food out when it's ready. The menu is on one of those electronic boards above the desk. They may have had hard copy menus, but one wasn't offered to me. I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember what I got, but I *think* it was the chicken katsu. They let me sub a green salad for the mac salad which made my gut very happy since green isn't a prominent color in our vacation fare. My husband got the mochiko chicken. His mochiko chicken portion was very generous, enough for him to have leftovers the next day. They were a bit more stingy with the katsu. Both dishes were prepared well. The restaurant itself was freezing. If I had to guess, I'd say the A/C was set at 67 or lower. The practically subzero temps made it hard to enjoy my meal; I was hell bent on getting out as quickly as possible in hopes of thawing out though the weather during our visit was less than ideal. I'm happy there is another restaurant in Lahaina and happier that it is affordable and serves good food. I just happen to like the location in the Maui Lani shopping center better than this one.

Stopped in for quick lunch.Fast and pleasant service with fair pricing too. No beers though,husband was bummed. I ordered the kale chopped salad and added chicken,husband got the ahi sandwich and we shared fries. Realized they gave me the Chinese chicken salad but in a rush to change it out so ate it anyway.It had a strange tasting dressing but to be fair I don't care for Chinese salads. My husband thought his sandwich was alright.The fries were good

My only question is...... Why didn't we find this delicious Hawaiian comfort food earlier!! It was soooo close to our resort! Party of 8 dined on the LAST day of our week Long trip!! So pretty inside, clean, with an attentive friendly staff. Order at the counter and find a table!! Everything so ONO from the Garlic Shrimp, Kalbi ribs, Big Kahuna plate to the Kona pie with Coffee ice cream!! (A MUST!)

We've been to the Wailuku location a couple of times and decided to try this location since it was convenient. This restaurant was pretty spacious with a lot of seating. Though this restaurant seems new, the style was a bit dated. Kind of like a 80's Denny's style booth and chairs. You order at the counter, seat yourself and they bring you the food. We ordered: Teriyaki beef (breaded): the portion was huge! The flavor was the same but a little more chewy than the other location (which we went 2 days previous). Mochiko chicken: this was okay but not anything very exciting. Generous portions.

I ordered takeout here, and it was ready within 15 minutes! The brussel sprouts with the hurricane sauce were a standout. The combo plate was also delicious, my favorite was the slice of spam and the mac salad. I would get a side sauce for the mixed place next time since I like a lot of flavor. Really great spot!

Modern bright spacious dinner style food with generous portions. Ordered at the entrance counter and the food was served to our table with warm Aloha smiles. The server checked in with us through our meal to see if we needed anything else. We ordered: Seared Ahi Sandwich Island Roast Pork w Rice & Mac Spam Musubi Crinkle Fries Chop Salad w Seared Ahi All the dishes were simple but were generously portioned and super fresh. The ahi was perfectly seared and the crinkle fries were addictively crispy! Prices were very reasonable. Win-win!

We stopped in here on our last day in Maui. The staff was so friendly and really took time to let us know about their favorite dishes. One thing that annoys me is when people give reviews and try to compare a restaurant to another spot that is in a different class. Set realistic expectations as you get food from a restaurant in a mall where you'll spend less than $80-$100. I can say that we went there with proper expectations and Kaleis surpassed what we expected. Why not 5 stars people? They deserve it, maybe that's why the locals don't really care for tourists, be more kind in your reviews! Look at those pictures, where else will you get food that not only looks great, but tastes great, and with terrific service? Being expensive doesn't make it good! One of my favorite things about Kaleis is that when you're done there are plenty of shops to go browse around in, and all inside of an air conditioned mall. Enjoy yourself, and be nice to the staff, they work hard to make your day a little better.

Decent spot that reminds me of a diner. Got the corned beef, Eggs over med, rice and potatoes. Soy sauce was good on the eggs and mixed with rice. Corned beef was good- canned. Potatoes were ok. My husband likes diners and liked what he got. The service and staff were super nice but there was a tiny 1 inch black hair on the plate that I found after eating most of the food that left me disappointed and was the lasting impression I'm left with. Besides the hair, the food is about 1.5-2 stars but the service and cleanliness make it a 3. I'm on vacation and want the places in Lahaina to do well.

We loved the food and the friendly island vibes. I had the short ribs and they were delicious. The macaroni salad was also tasty. My hubby had the loco moco. The hamburger was cooked perfectly as was the egg. The food here is plentiful and the service is prompt. The staff made sure we had boxes and even came by to refill our drinks. Upon visiting Maui 3 years ago, I stumbled upon Kaleis food truck by the airport. Loved the fried mahi plate. Couldn't wait to come back upon my return three years later. Now, they have a physical store by the airport which we went to. Still the same great food. Also, had to try the one in Lahaina before flying back home. The big kahuna plate was the bomb. Tater tots and the Cobb salad were also good. The inside feels a little like an upscale Denny's. It is very clean and all the staff are friendly. This is THE place to go for Hawaiian plate lunch. It's right next to the Safeway. See you next time! read more

We went here for the first time yesterday for breakfast it's all new and pretty inside. The service is good, it's a bit different you go up and order and pay, then they bring your food. We had croissants they were huge and so yummy!!! They looked so good I forgot to even take a picture ‍ all and all this was a very nice experience. The location is nice too next to Safeway and the mall, very convenient. read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The prices were really reasonable and the portion sizes were really big!! The service here was also really amazing. You have to go up to order it's not like a typical restaurant in that regards but the workers are really friendly. The overall ambiance is really nice as well which I appreciate. One other thing I really loved is they have gluten free options! I have celiac and I left with no pain and a full stomach. read more

Air conditioning! Affordable, clean, delicious food. Our family has been coming in to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and each time the food has been delicious and good size. It has given us a place to meet friends and family in Lahaina, next to the grocery store. My favorite is the Chantilly pancakes, the Cobb salad with seared ahi, hamburger steak plate, and their desserts! Kalei's is locally owned and a big giver to the community. Ono Grinds & Aloha Spirit at Kalei's! From the moment we walked into Kalei's, we felt like ohana. The warm, welcoming atmosphere set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best meals we've had on Maui. The food? Straight up ono. Very friendly staff (especiallySandy). Laughed with us about how wet and cold we were coming straight from a 6 am whale watching trip. Very affordable (and warm!) breakfast. Tasty too! Greeted immediately by 2 hosts. Asked if we had any questions about the menu, took our order. They give you a number, you pick your table and food and drink is brought to you. This is a relatively new restaurant in the cannery. I ordered the Portuguese sausage carbonara in the hurricane brussels sprouts. Both were very good. Go here! Went for dinner and plan to go back soon for breakfast!! My husband had teriyaki beef, daughter had katsu chicken, I had an ahi sandwich. It was all delicious and we have enough left for tomorrow. The price was very reasonable and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The space is large, so it's easy to get a table. Lots of booths, too. Very pleasant. I think this is just what Lahaina needed - a nice big, reasonably priced restaurant, with good local style food. I hope they do really well. read more

We stopped in here on a whim, not knowing what to expect, so I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed. It just wasn't my idea of a good healthy meal. Lots of fried items and lots of carbs. I could have done without rice and macaroni salad in the same meal. We wound up leaving half the meals on our plates and didn't bother with doggie bags. read more

Tennis team came here for lunch and all of us were satisfied with the food and the service. I ordered the big kahuna, a mixed plate with mochiko chicken, hamburger steak, and a fish filet served with tartar sauce, Everything was tasty, however, the mochiko chicken was cold. I let my waitress know and she offered to get it heated up. This implies they do not cook it to order and instead precook the mochiko chicken and heat it up before serving. They forgot to heat it up. Someone else in my group had mochiko and they didn't forget to heat it up. Overall the restaurant looks new but food needs to be made to order when possible. read more

The food was okay, though definitely a bit overpriced...you can find the same items elsewhere for much less. What really turned us off, though, was the service. The older Caucasian lady who helped us came off as judgmental from the start, and honestly, it felt like she was being discriminatory. When it came time to pay, she didn't show us the card machine or the total, just asked if we were paying by card. I had to specifically ask to see it and also to get a receipt. On top of that, we noticed there were already extra charges were added without our knowledge. Overall, the experience left a bad taste...not because of the food, but because of how we were treated. read more

I ordered chili shrimp and it was not cooked inside. I pointed that out and they made it again but shrimp tasted really old and not fresh. Now, 5 hours later, I'm having really bad stomachache and nausea, I wonder if it's food poisoning from eating that nasty uncooked shrimp. The server was lovely and provided us with good customer service, so it's a bummer that food was horrible. read more

Wow! I mean those Chantilly Mac pancakes are more wonderful than you can imagine. Tons of Macadamia nuts, super fully pancakes, & a huge portion. We could have split it BUT Hubby got Loco Moco w/chicken fried steak also. We love to eat! Mac salad was delish, he loved the chicken fried steak. Parking was easy, seating was easy, ordering was easy, & the staff was amazing. Last of all, the price was FANTASTIC. Definately worth the eat in experiece. This wasn't our first choice, but Christmastime on Maui makes for crowded restaurants with long waits, so we decided to take a chance on what was available. I won't say anything was terrible or even bad: it was just that nothing knocked our socks off. Granted, we didn't sign up for a 5 star Michelin experience, but there were no items that we found satisfying. read more

Disappointing is all I can say. The food was ok, but not worth the price-lots of things that tasted pre frozen or canned and not enough fresh items. Teriyaki sauce was too thick and sweet for my taste and the omeletts tasted like they were made with eggbeaters-not eggs that were freshly cracked.
