Great food and service, price is pretty reasonable too. You have to order and pay upfront, they give you a number and bring out the food, its that easy. I got the fish plate which was delicious, but a little on the dry side, they do give alot tho I had left overs to take back. My son got the new york steak and garlic shrimp, he finished his plate said that it was delicious, the steak looked a little dry tho~my husband got the loco moco, he told me that it was a little salty. We've eaten at Kalei's twice in three days...that should give you an idea of what we think of the place!! In the Cannery Mall where Denny's used to be, Kalei's has recently opened and is a GEM. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful! Very Maui-centric, and with plenty of space. We love Kalei's Lunchbox in Wailuku and we are so excited this place opened in Lahaina. I got Da Bento on both visits because I couldn't decide, so I just opted to try it all! It had mochiko chicken, fried jumbo shrimp, spam, grilled teri beef plus rice and Mac salad. Such a good plate!!! My daughter absolutely loves their saimin. My husband gets the teri beef with rice plate which always slaps. We came with a group of 18 today and they accommodated us so effortlessly! All of the servers were so kind and efficient. We love supporting them and will continue to visit when on Maui! read more

Kaleis reminds me of a cafeteria style restaurant. You place your order at the front register, pay for it and find a place to sit. The cashier will give you a number to place on your table for food delivery. They offer a variety of options for breakfast and lunch. I enjoyed their corned beef hash breakfast which was very delicious and my husband had the loco moco - always good! We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Lahaina on Maui! read more

We've been coming to Maui once a year for the past 4 years, (From Oahu) and this is our first time ever eating at Kalei's! And BRAH dont let this diner be a a bite you pass on by. Located near Lahaina Safeway and across the main road from Ross you'll find this cozy diner. Ample parking with it being already part of the shopping center. We placed a phone order because it was near by and we were to tired to dine in anywhere. Here's some quick info I learned about this place. -3% credit card charge. No fees for debit or cash payments -Any phone orders over $50 required manual credit card payment over the phone -Dining in, you grab a menu and order at the counter before getting assigned a seat (very beautiful indoor seating with hawaiian art and puakenikeni lei art throughout the walls) -they have daily onolicious specials! Including cheap eats! The night i went they had mochiko chicken plate with rice and corn for only $7! Placing a phone order on a week day took only about 15-20 minutes turnaround time. We were quoted 10-15 but when I arrived I saw they got busy. One girl working the phone orders and in person orders with pick ups. She was very nice and patient with everyone she assisted. At the front counter they have in-store merch (cute items!) And 4 TV screens that tell you how to order and so many pictures of their food! The pictures looked so good the girl ordering infront of me saw them and kept adding on plates based off the pictures shown LOL. We ordered the breaded pork teriyaki, big kahuna plate, side order onion rings, keiki grilled cheese, and keiki cheese burger. Everything was so fresh, crispy, flavorful with each bite. We will definitely come back before we go back home or next year on our next Mauo trip! read more

Went towards Lahaina but the roads to the banyan tree were closed. It's very sad to see all the destruction even after 2 years. We found Kalei's and I decided to revisit my food memories and have Saimin! It was hot and delicious and the broth is delightful! Pieces of char siu and kamaboku floated in the soup with green onions and thick noodles complimenting the dish. For this old haole, out reminded me of Dillingham boulevard saimin back in the day on Oahu. I wish I ate two bowls of it! Staff was super nice. I love having a bunch of different things on my plate to jump around to. Everything was great, and I'd order it again. I tried some of my mom's shrimp scampi (w/o vegetables), and that was delicious. It was super garlicky which I loved. I might order that next time. The fruit punch was standard and refreshing. I didn't care for the lava rocks. They weren't anything special, and they were overpriced. Each little ball of chocolate and cream cheese rolled in Oreo cost $3.50. My mom got a bag of the cinnamon sugar bagel slices which were super good. My aunt got the strawberry cheesecake which was sweet and yummy. My stepdad got the Kona mud pie which was huge, frozen, and as hard as a rock. It was chocolaty and tasty once it thawed. I'd come here again and recommend it to others. read more

We were told in the Mall that Kalei's was a new restaurant and was very Hawaiiana. That was a perfect description. You are seated with a menu and you go back to the reception counter and the hostess takes your order and enters your selections into a point of sale system, your bill is printed, you pay and get a sign with a number so they can deliver your food and drink to you. There are lots of tables and very comfortable seating. It's all brand new and well done. The three of us ordered 2 Ono burgers, one order of fries and , a plate of chow fun noodles with fried chicken. The burgers were delicious and so were the fries. The noodles and chicken were done perfectly with a tasty sauce. The menu is all Hawaiian. The staff are awesome as well. We'll be back. Pleased to find a new place in Lahaina at Cannery Mall. I really liked the Teri beef for about half the plate but it was just too fried. A very interesting take on Teri beef by breading it but it was just too much and a little salty. I usually love fried food like katsu or mochiko chicken but was just too fried and salty. I really have to stop by next time im in maui and try something else since ive only heard good things about this place. I dont think this should be a single menu item but maybe a combo which i would've gone for instead. Not sure who could eat the whole plate without feeling sick. There is a host/hostess station, but I really don't get the point when they told us to go ahead and go look for open seats/seating which we did. The Rum Punch Aloha was thankfully not too sweat and the Mui Bueno Aloha was sweat, and that can easily be contributed to the glass rim. Matt Kennedy does. The tempura battered prawns Aloha were very good. The view was absolutely fantastic and we actually got to see a whale with its calf, spouting and breaching several times!!
