Such a hidden gem in cliffside Park! And do you know how I came across this place? I asked tiktok…read morefor a Japanese restaurant recommendation for dinner in New Jersey and this place popped up! It's a cute little restaurant with plenty of street parking. Service was on point--never missed a beat, but not overbearing! And don't hesitate to ask for their recommendations because they're all foodies, we could tell! Started off with the bluefin crudo and oh my God the tuna was ridiculously tender just melted in my mouth.... I had to fight the urge to lick the sauce off the plate! The branzino is a must-- especially if one of your parents just takes it from you and finishes it for you. Every dish was delicious, including the desserts! I didn't know I was missing lucuma from my life! Will definitely get the chicken chaufa next time only because the pork belly was a little too fatty for us. It's BYOB but the we decided to do mocktails instead; they were fruity, crisp and refreshing! Just try all of them lol

However, a good friend of mine strongly recommended to me that I come back and try again. She said, she is a frequent customer and loves their ramen noodles so much. So I decided to give it a shot. I ordered Blackbeard ramen noodles. Wow!! I was so surprised!! Good surprise, though. I noticed that the taste of broth really changed in a good way. Not greasy or oily at all. Very flavorful and delicious. Toppings were as great as before. Chashu melted in my mouth. I also liked their Shumai because they were big and meaty. My friend loved both Chicken & Pork Chashu Buns, too. He said, they were one of the best bun appetizers that he has ever tried among other Japanese cuisine restaurants. This experience definitely overwrites my previous impressions in positive way!!

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Really, really, reallllllly good ramen and food (and just as good as our 1st time 4 years ago!) ++++ Pork Buns - Each order comes with 1 bun, so you can order 1 at a time. Pork was shredded and a little dry, but the Japanese mayo and other ingredients made it very good. ++++ Green Curry Ramen - EXCELLENT curry flavor, but it wasn't too strong. Ramen was cooked perfectly and plenty of ingredients inside, including 2 slices of cha siu and a half of a soft boiled egg. ++++ Blackbeard Ramen - Also fantastic broth flavor too and same comment as above regarding their ramen. ++++ Kids Tonkotsu Ramen - At just $7, this is a steal for a kids ramen. There was 1 piece of cha siu in it, but it was excellent for a kids bowl. + Food comes out fairly quickly. + Private parking lot, but it was packed on an early Saturday evening. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Service was a little disappointing. ---- One (young) waitress seemed very inpatient and was a bit flustered throughout the evening. Didn't appreciate her lack of cordialness. - Interior is tight. ---- There are only 5 tables in the restaurant and all of them can accommodate 2-4 people, MAX. There is also counter seating too for about 4-5 people. - It was freeezing inside when we came in on a frigid January Saturday evening, so keep your jacket on! MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = We arrived at about 5:45 PM on a January Saturday evening and snagged the last available table. Turnover is relatively quick here though because all people are eating is ramen, but there was a large party of about 8 people waiting a good 15-25 minutes after we were seated.

This place was great!…read more We love sushi, and we are so glad we found this spot. I was in the area and was looking for a good spot for dinner. I'm so glad I found this restaurant. We were seated in the back private room because the front room was packed. We watched them make all of the rolls, as we were right at the sushi bar, where all of the food was being made. We had bang bang sushi, edamame and I had their orange blossom roll. This was the freshest sushi I've ever had. It was amazing. We'll definitely be back!

I got the sashimi set. - Fish was very fresh. - Tempura was heavily coated in batter Their miso soup had two tiiiiny pieces of tofu, which had I known, wouldn't have ordered a la carte for the kid who loves the tofu in miso soup. When I asked, the guy said they don't really include tofu in their soup. Clean bathroom. Street parking. Parking app didn't work and needed change. I will check it out again. Maybe takeout.

I've been a patron of the OG Sazanami for years while I lived in Jersey. Came back to visit and had…read moreto try their new spot. The new location is more spacious and brighter. The concept here centers around their hambagu which at the other location was limited per day and was served with their signature curry. We got a few appetizers and enjoyed each one thoroughly. The tartare was a standout. For mains we got red wine demiglace hambagu and the kaisondon. The hambagu was as good as I remember; juicy, tender, explosion of flavor. I would love for there to have been a curry option though as it was truly my favorite J curry in the states. The miso soup is also is different. It's more like what you'd typically find as opposed to their previous homey version. Overall very solid spot from one of my favorites.

This place specializes in Japanese hamburg steaks, which, for those who are not aware (like me…read morebefore coming here), is basically just a thick burger patty. I got the original hamburg steak which actually contains both beef and pork with the gorgonzola white cream sauce and kinoko baby bell mushrooms. The steaks come in a set with other sides including white rice, miso soup, salad, chawanmushi (steamed egg), and a scoop of mashed potato. It was $23 + $2 for the mushroom topping for all of this food (which I couldn't even finish), so I'd say the value is pretty good. The steak was good and juicy, although to be honest, not sure if it's better than in the normal burger form. The gorgonzola white cream sauce dominated the flavor profile a bit, though it was pretty good if you like cheesy sauces. They make it clear on the menu that it takes 20 min to prep the steaks, which was an accurate estimate. The staff were fairly friendly although I thought they could've been a bit more attentive. The restaurant is situated on River Road, which is quite a busy street with limited street parking at times. There is a decent amount of seating inside though and the place has a chill clean environment. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but it wasn't quite impressive enough to warrant a full 5 stars, especially with the prep time. That being said, I would still definitely recommend it if you are in the area and interested in trying a hamburg steak.

Place was a bit of a letdown overall…read more Wasn't aware this was an AYCE place, I believe it wasn't prior. Place looks really nice outside but looks comparatively run down inside. Main complaints are the no sashimi and free water/tea. As per all AYCE, you should charge for leftover food. However, they stat also on the menu they'll charge if there is an excess of wasted appetizers and rice. There are no options on the AYCE menu for the sushi without rice. All your sushi needed to come in a roll or paired with rice. Seems a bit unfair. No water or drinks available without charge. Only had tea and water bottles that were 2-3$ each. Sushi was fine but it's more in the middle of the pack in price in the area for AYCE sushi, not including the price of drinks. In addition, the fact I can't just order fish without rice is a major letdown.
