Fast service and a really nice variety. I usually get the cafe au lait, and it's great. For me, I prefer getting my coffee to go because it's usually pretty crowded. Sometimes seating is limited, but that shouldn't keep you from checking them out. The only real drawback is that parking sucks. That has been enough to keep me from stopping more than once -- it is pretty inconvenient at times. The beverages themselves, though, are tip top. read more

Signage could be better. My persistence in driving past 4 times allowed me to find it. I worry about this coffee spot from that stand point. The interior is very dark. Several varieties of beans and coffee making methods make me excited. The barista didn't do a very good job on selling me a great cup of coffee. His response, "I personally like drip black". Seemed like a strange response with the array of coffee selections on the menu. The coffee I experienced was ok, But won't make me run back for more. I can't say that I have tried every coffee shop in Indy but I can say of the ones that I have tried Kaffeine is my favorite. The menu offers a variety but keeps it simple which I love when it comes to ordering coffee. The service is always great. They have their own parking out front. They will occasionally send you coupons and who doesn't love that? To top off the great experience, the design of the of the coffee shop is spectacular. A great place to work, study, catch up with friends (plenty of seating), or spend a nice morning with yourself :). read more

Located right by an apartment building and in an alley, this coffee shop is inviting and reminds me of a press room. It has the old fashioned look to it and is spacious. I walked into Kaffeine Coffee this morning with not guna lie...a bit of a headache from the previous night of wine. My barista this morning was friendly and informative when I told him I needed something sweet for my boyfriend and something strong for me. I told him that normally for something sweet we ordered the Vietnamese Iced coffee but we were looking for something different so he recommended the Spanish latte. My boyfriend liked it and I tried a sip and it was delicious...the cinnamon adds a great flavor but it wasn't overpowering. For my drink, he recommended the cold brew which was just the kick in the butt that I needed. It was a strong iced coffee but deep in flavor and heartiness. That might be my go-to drink now. I also picked up a carrot zucchini muffin for my son but ended up eating more than planned. Im glad I finally went in and tried some recommendations from the barista. His advice and the coffee was a much needed addition to my otherwise rough morning. read more

This is hands-down my favorite coffee spot in Indy. I love that it's tucked away behind bustling Mass Ave. it makes me feel as if I'm in on a secret. The owner is often working every time I've visited, and his knowledge of coffee is astounding. I love the fact that he takes the time to talk to you about each bean and roast. I find it truly fascinating. I have also tried the veggie quiche for breakfast with a cup of the Indian coffee...heavenly. The decor and laid-back atmosphere will keep drawing you back to Kaffeine, and you will not be disappointed. read more

Where do I get caffeine? Why at Kaffeine Coffee of course! This place is everything that a coffee joint should be. It's hidden inside an industrial building with very discreet signage. Be careful or you'll miss it. When you walk in, it feels industrial. Coffee is ordered in the middle and there is plenty of seating all around the inside including right at the bar. I ordered a vietnamese coffee along with a macaron. The coffee was expertly crafted and had the depth that I would expect. The macaron was perfect. Crispy outershell, soft inside with the perfect filling amount. The staff were extremely friendly and always hard at work. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. read more

It's essentially a garage converted to a coffee shop. Creative use of space, but a little too hipster for me, raw hipster trespassing into hippie-type territory. While I enjoy some hipster vibes, lol, this was a little too makeshift for me. However, the coffee was not bad, and they have a cool unique selection of drinks from around the globe. I love this little place. I started off with a frustrated taste in my mouth. It was no fault of their own, though. Google had listed them as being open during their transition from a coffee truck to a storefront and I arrived before actually having opened. Several months later I finally got the chance to go back to an *open* Kaffeine Coffee. It quickly became my favorite spot downtown to work and caffeinate. The decor is a cool warehousey feel. The ambience is chill. The drinks I've had thus far--a Chemex with South American beans (Mexico, I think) and an Americano--were perfectly delicious. The staff are much more helpful than most baristas I've run into, particularly in the context of local, artisan type shops. It always feels like a cloudy, pensive day at Kaffeine Coffee, even when it isn't. And this isn't a bad thing. The big, spartan, dimly-lit space is perfect for wasting an afternoon. And, while the name of the place is hardly original, it's still apt, since the place serves as a sort of passport to a world of caffeinated beverages from a smattering of locations. The origin of the drip varies, and while it's generally solid, the real fun is to be had in the other experiments: Vietnamese, African, Cuban, etc. I recently tried the pu-erh, which, as I already knew, is not for the faint of heart, since its earthiness can be off-putting. And the price may be off-putting too: $4 is standard for pu-erhs but may seem steep for a conventional preparation of an unconventional tea. I look forward to stepping foot on other continents in the future, while accomplishing much with the ol' laptop (or settling into a good book) in the perpetually soothing ambiance, where giant wall maps have the patina you'd expect from an Indiana Jones movie. One other note: the converted garage space is BIG, and Kaffeine offers plenty of additional room for future adventures, since about half of he overall space is unused. A particular challenge is the sloped area leading to the old garage door, but maybe that could someday serve as a stage? Right now I see the unused space as the incomplete portions of an artist's canvas: Kaffeine is good at a lot of things but probably not yet great at many, but the ample space gives them room both to grow and perfect what they already do well. Perhaps more elaborate, authentic preparations in the future, respective of their country of origin? With enough good word of mouth, this place may someday become as popular as the jam-packed Calvin Fletcher Coffee, so I look forward to watching how it covers those remaining white spaces. To conclude, I'd say it's a draw between Kaffeine and its other recently opened competitor, Niedhammer: both offer subtle but distinct pleasures. Wifi and plug access both seem strong, if not quite as clever or ubiquitous as Niedhammer. And, for fear that this review might get even MORE pretentious, I'll quit while I'm ahead. read more

This little coffee shop nestled right behind Circa Apartments was beautiful inside with it's exposed brick & original steal/ wooden beams on the ceiling. Service was great and the staff was very nice. There was lots ya of seating and tables for working or studying. Coffee was good, the lighting was pretty dim but on a sunny day there is plenty of natural light to come through their large windows. The sign out front is very small and it is easy to miss if you are unfamiliar with the area or coming for you 1st time. read more

The staff is always super friendly and there is adequate space whether you are meeting people or need to get work done. Used to be a favorite but the last few espresso drinks were not good. My latte was bitter and too hot. The drink had little flavor. So disappointed. The staff is friendly and accommodating but the space is chilly on cold days and just not a place we are going to spend more time at. I'll admit that I'm not a well versed coffee or tea drinker, at all but I wanted to give tea a try on this snowy day. I had the pleasure of meeting the barista, Annabelle, who recommended a warm tea that I actually really enjoyed! She was very welcoming, conversational and recommended how long I should steep the tea for because I had no clue. Wonderful experience all around and the wood & vintage feel all contributed to this great experience. The only thing I would tweak would be the music. I would recommend streaming music advertisement free and a little more upbeat. Other than that minor suggestion, this place is a wonderful coffee shop and a very friendly staff. Thanks Annabelle! Kaffeine Coffee is a great place to grab coffee, once you find it. They're a bit off of the beaten path, which isn't too big a deal for me. I really liked their plain coffee. The latte I had was well made. The only downside for me is that I never quite know when they're open. I'm normally only able to go to coffee shops on Sunday, so I miss out on Kaffeine, which is a bummer. But otherwise it's great coffee made by very nice people.
