Juqi is a Beijing-style Chinese restaurant in Flushing. The ambience is very beautiful inside with Chinese decorations. Quick and kind, very attentive service. I was really impressed at how clean the food tasted and how the ingredients really shined. The sesame cabbage, Chinese broccoli, and fried eggplant were some of my favorite dishes - I think their vegetable dishes really shine here. The braised pork belly and peking duck were good! Not my favorite, the duck was presented very beautifully and I enjoyed the wraps and variety of fillings - unique and unlike other peking duck places I have had before.
Good service and clean environment. Peking duck skin not crispy enough and prefer buns rather than wraps. The wrap was too thick and pretty tasteless. Love they reuse the bone to make another dish either stir fry, salt & pepper or soup. We chose soup which was a light end to meal. Lamb cumin was definitely the better dish in my opinion. Should order side of rice because it's a flavor bomb. Get mild spicy if you can't handle spice. Also ordered sour cabbage which might be too sour for some people. It helped cut through the heaviness of meats. Overall worth the try but wont come back.

I make sure to come here every time I'm in the area (last time was 4 years ago). Taste and quality are great and consistent with what I remember and each dish is beautifully presented. Servers are attentive and made sure to ask about any dietary restrictions. Restaurant has lots of memorabilia on display which is interesting to peruse.
After having a not-so-great lunch today at a nearby Chinese restaurant down the block, I said to myself, "Why not make it better by having a second lunch at Juqi?" I was craving wheat gluten, so we decided to stop in--and I'm so glad we did! We were seated immediately upon walking in. I ordered the Braised Wheat Gluten with Shrimp and a white rice, while Hubby had the homemade dumplings. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, but my wheat gluten dish truly stood out! It was flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what I had been craving. The entire team was professional, friendly, and welcoming. Selena was especially outstanding--she was warm and courteous and made us feel very well taken care of throughout our meal. Needless to say, we left happy and completely satisfied. It was the perfect way to turn a disappointing lunch into a much better dining experience. We're so glad we came here for our second lunch!

Juqi is an upscale Chinese spot in the Tangram mall with a huge menu and flavorful dishes! To get in the waitlist, you can use Minitable or sign up on the iPad with the hostess. The inside decor is super nice and reminds me of places like CheLi and Szechuan Mountain House so it's great for a nice dinner out. I did also see they had a ton of private room space in the back for events. We tried a few dishes here but my favorite was the Royal Style Barbeque Lamb! The portion was huge with the meat being super juicy, tender, flavorful and had a mild spiciness to it.
I think this place totally lives up to the hype!! delicious duck and non duck dishes!! best to go in a group to order a lot and def make a res!
Came here again with a larger party. We booked a private room this time for a party of 10. The space is great, especially with kids who like to get out of their seats. The room was very quiet, almost too quiet; great for our family get together where conversation is to be had - but I can imagine that it can be awkwardly quiet. Food is solid once again. Duck is excellent, but was not the highlight. My favorite dish has to be the eggplant, so not skip! The Boston lobster was prepared to perfection. Stone crab disappeared the moment it was set down. My kids loved the fried fish and the fried shrimp. Service was excellent. The seats in the private room are very grand wooden chairs, not the most comfortable, it they are an incredible statement piece to the room. Definitely recommend private room for big parties. Spending minimum is around $750 I think?
Back again to this absolutely delicious Beijing-style Chinese food! The Peking duck is the star , they bring the whole duck to the table and carve it right in front of you. The skin is incredibly crispy, and you wrap the tender slices in thin pancakes with cucumber and that delicious sauce. So good! There are tons of other dishes to choose from, the staff is wonderful, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Definitely a place I would come back to again and again. Highly recommend
4 stars for overall service and food. The ordering on the iPad was interesting as the menu was in Chinese. Thankful for the one line descriptions and photos to match. This hot spot, located on the first floor of Tangram Mall, is bustling with crowds on the weekends. They do not take reservations unless you want to book the private rooms or The Birdcage. There is a minimum spend to be in each room so choose wisely. The room we were seated in had a minimum spend of $500. Before you confirm your order, a staff member needs to come by and re-confirm your order, especially to ensure you spent the minimum. There were some very unique dishes and curiosity got the better of us - a few were hit or miss. The misses: hot mustard with cabbage, it was a spicy mustard (like wasabi kind of dry heat, where the heat clears your sinuses). And there was way too much mustard in general, on top. The other dish that was almost a miss, the plum cherry tomatoes. The tomatoes were sweet but skin was still on so the plum brine doesn't absorb too much into the tomato. This is an overall refreshing dish for the summer months since it's served cold. The hits: that full portion of Peking duck served in a fancy presentation like a jewelry trunk with drawers. Each compartment or drawer held a treasure to speak. The cut up duck meat, super moist, the garnish of julienned cucumbers and scallions, the delicious sauce and the fabulous crispy duck skin served over toast and topped with caviar. It was a sight indeed. Beautiful presentation. I also enjoyed the King Crab, this 4 pound beauty was cooked and served two ways. First, steamed crab meat legs with steamed eggs on a large plate. The second method was a stir-fry of more cut crab pieces. Well seasoned and tasted like a mixture of Old Bay seasoning and spices. The other favorite of the night was the pork meatball. While only one serving ordered, we managed to break it up with a spoon and everyone got to try it. The other stand out dish was the brisket and beef tendon. Very saucy and tender. I would have wanted to try their fish dishes but all were spicy or marked with a red pepper icon. Since it's a Beijing style menu, I would presume too spicy for my taste. The coolest feature of being in the private room, the motorized lazy Susan and of course, having privacy. Made our birthday banquet much more enjoyable so that we didn't have to sit in the loud, main dining area.

Located in flushing within a mall, this might have been one of the top restaurants in NYC that I have been to, and am looking forward to coming again. There was a long wait as we put our names down for a party of four, but there is a lot to do in the mall as you wait. Our party of four was able to get seated on a Sunday afternoon after about 30 mins or so. The indoors is very well decorated and it has a nice dimly lit atmosphere. Something this place does do really well is the plating and presentation. Our first appetizer were these shrimp balls and they served 9 items on this really stunning tree holder. We ordered pork, some boiled bok choi, and Peking duck. I think in NYC this was the best Peking duck experiences I have had. They provided a large variety of toppings more than just the basic green onions. They ask if you want the bones boiled or fried afterwards. They provide a large amount of wraps for you to enjoy, and the duck was prepared beautifully. Now this place does get pricey but my friends and I loved our visit. They show you how to make each roll, they provide plastic gloves are you prep the duck rolls. Will definitely plan to come back, every thing we ate was fantastic and we had a great time. It does get a bit pricey however.

The ambiance and food presentation was top notch. This is located in a mall at Flushing and the entrance was hard to find. Google maps showed us that it was inside the mall but we had to go to the ground floor to find the entrance. The ambiance is great. It transports you to Beijing with decor that looks like the Great Wall of China. Their plating was also aesthetic as you can see with their rabbit mashed potatoes. It had all the right ingredients to be great but alas, something wasn't quite there. It's possible it was because we ordered a half duck, which seemed to have been sitting out for a while. It was dry and not steaming hot like the whole duck orders we saw go by. The crispy shrimp and fried rice was pretty good while the Chinese broccoli was brand. Prices were also a bit high and overall it just missed something to make it great. read more

Located in Tangram mall, this Chinese restaurant is known for their peking duck and fun presentations of traditional Chinese dishes. The inside has lots of seating for parties of different sizes, and the location makes it a great spot to grab a bite before or after visiting the mall. Service is quick here and good. We ordered the sizzling cumin lamb, half a peking duck, and their Chinese broccoli. Each dish was delicious. The lamb wasn't gamey at all and the cumin and other seasonings paired so well with the meat. The presentation of the peking duck was great, and they cut up the duck right in front of you if you get the whole duck. The dish came with so many garnishes that you could add to your peking duck wrap, and you also have the option to enjoy the bones fried or in a broth after (to not waste any part!). I also enjoyed the garlic Chinese broccoli and it was the perfect pairing with the lamb and duck. Highly recommend this spot and I would love to come back to try some of their other dishes! read more

I had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The Beijing roast duck was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations. The skin was perfectly crispy, while the meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It was served with fresh pancakes, vegetables, and a tasty sauce that made every bite even better. The portion size was generous, and the presentation was beautiful. The staff were friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout the meal. The restaurant was clean and had a comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic Beijing roast duck and great Chinese cuisine. read more

I enjoyed a memorable family meal at Juqi, where the food and service were excellent. My only complaint was that they forgot to serve us the duck soup as part of our Peking duck whole set. We only found out when we got home and saw it missing from our leftovers. That said, here were the highlights: Appetizers: -Colorful Aged Vinegar Jellyfish ($29): This cold appetizer was slightly sweet, delicious and refreshing. -Cabbage in sesame paste ($16): This cold dish was also sweet and unusual. I had never tried sesame paste on cabbage before but was one of my favorites of the evening. My toddler son LOVED it. -Braised abalone and pickled chayote ($32): The abalone and chayote were both very spicy. In fact, the overpowering flavor of the chayote was more spicy than pickled. The abalone was chewy and a bit tough. I would skip this in the future. -Spinach with oyster mushrooms ($15): This dish was more to offer some healthy greens to counterbalance the richness of the other dishes. A nice palate cleanser but not particularly noteworthy. -complimentary Beijing appetizer sampler: loved the spicy okra. Somewhat odd in also including the yellow pea paste from the dessert section Entrees: -Juqi Signature Peking Duck whole set ($109): Definitely a highlight of the night, more for the presentation than the actual taste. I don't mean to be a snob when I say "I've had better," since the quality here was high. The meat was tender, but somehow the roasted duck skin and meat were not all that flavorful. A staff cut the duck skillfully for us and then presented the slices aesthetically in a box. Although the pancakes and cucumber and scallion fillings are unlimited, I can't imagine anyone really going through much more than what is offered. A complimentary salt and pepper stir-frie duck, spicy fried duck, or duck soup are offered using the remaining meat. We ordered the soup since we thought the duck meat, tofu, and cabbage would complement the rest of our meal. Sadly this never came. -Vancouver Crab ($68): To cater to my kids, we ordered this non-spicy. Big mistake. While it was still good, it was a bit bland and hard to justify the price. -Spicy Lobster ($39): This was one of my favorite dishes. Superb flavor with a generous amount of lobster meat. -Juqi Fried Rice ($22): Despite the show of turning off the lights and lighting the burner, the actual fried rice was surprisingly bland in flavor. The Chinese sausage lacked punchy flavor. -Fried Leaf Mustard in Casserole ($16): A solid vegetable dish cooked just right, preserving the crunchiness and tenderness of the vegetable and its natural flavor. -Braised beef tendon soup with braised sea cucumber ($56): This was another one of my favorites from the evening. The sauce was extremely rich, but I loved how tender the beef tendon and sea cucumbers were. This came with little balls of rice, ready to soak up the thick, oozy sauce. -Sauteed Chinese Cabbage with Sour Sauce ($6): Very good vegetable dish that was savory, spicy, and sour. One of the better "deals" -Eggplant Of That Autumn Year ($19): Lightly fried, yet still too fried for my liking. A regrettable choice for someone who doesn't like fried food. I had somehow missed this important aspect of the dish when ordering. -Eight delicacy tofu ($36): This was very good, and included soft tofu, shrimp, chicken thigh, flounder, pork tenderloin slices, scored squid, sea cucumber, abalone, scallops, and egg. The soft tofu was I believe lightly battered. The squid was cooked really well and not too tough. More seafood and less chicken and pork would have been preferred. -Stir-fried shredded potato ($14): This was tasty, but way too fatty. The little bits of millet didn't do much for flavor. Dessert: -Peking Milk Skin Yogurt ($6): This is not your typical yogurt, or even watery yogurt sometimes seen in mainland supermarkets: This was an extremely rich and dense yogurt that tasted more like a thick pudding. This appeared to be packaged and not made in-house. Good for takeaway. -Almond Tofu Pudding In Peach Shape ($9): One of my favorite desserts. I loved the subtle almond taste and slightly sweet pairing of the tofu pudding with the white chocolate peach exterior -Beijing four piece set place snacks ($32): Personally I really enjoyed the set, which included a coconut red bean mochi, yellow pea-based "paste," date paste, and glutinous rice roll with red bean. I loved these, but not particularly exciting textures or flavors. -Rabbit milk pudding: Soft, lightly sweet, and like jello. I loved this -Summer in Beijing ($12): My dairy-loving son adored this creamy drink full of condensed milk. Too sweet for me and grapes didn't enhance flavor. Juqi offers private rooms with $488 in minimum spend. They have electric lazy Susans that rotate automatically. Service was solid. Unfortunately the menu has changed, so the Beijing assorted vegetable stir-fry with the wheat gluten is not available anymore. read more

Food came out extremely slow and they forgot to give us the duck bones from the Peking duck. They also forgot a few dishes and we were there over two hours at that point. Really needed to go. (1)Old Beijing Hawthornt Hawthorn, Rock Sugar $18.00 - purely for aesthetics. This was pretty good and the kids enjoyed it. (2)Suzhou Soy Sauce Chicken Chicken $26.00 - felt like we needed a chicken but this was super dry and small. Not worth it. (3) Jugi Signature Peking Duck( Whole set) $109.00/+ Duck, caviar, tianmian sauce, cucumber | Complimentary salted and pepper duck rack, spicy fried duck rack, duck soup (choose 1 of 3) - there's a half duck option, but whole set is nicer presentation. The presentation was nice and taste seemed fine. (4) Smoked Pork Knuckles Elbow, pancakes $46.00 - it was good (6) Stewed Assorted Seafood with Vermicelli $29.00 Vermicelli, shrimps, squid whisker, crab seed - this dish seems to have a good mix of stuff (7) Sauterkraut Fish $36.00 Sauterkraut, fish fillet - wasn't good (8) Dual-Preparation King Crab (Steamed with Egg Custard/ Salt and pepper) King Crab, Egg $76.00/lb - must get but don't do the fried! Only do the steamed! (9) Litchi Shrimp Balls Shrimp $24.00 - this was surprisingly good! I'd recommend and presentation was very nice. (10) pork belly with brown sauce was good. read more
Heard many great reviews about this restaurant so decided to come here for a birthday celebration but it ended up being a bit of a disappointment. To start, if you don't speak Mandarin there's definitely going to be a tough language barrier with the waitstaff. They assigned us the only waitress who spoke a lick of English and even then it was a struggle trying to understand what she was saying at times. She was very professional and friendly though. I've heard many positive comments regarding the restaurant's decor and ambience and while it was impressive, it's definitely not the only restaurant in NYC that's designed to look like this. In terms of the food, we enjoyed the Sweet and sour squirrel fish a lot. It's our first time trying this dish since it's not commonly found in the Cantonese restaurants that we typically frequent and we enjoyed the delicious sauce and crispy fish. We also enjoyed the Royal style BBQ lamb. Loved the spices and slight char on the lamb; goes perfectly with a bowl of rice. But we were very disappointed in the signature Peking duck. They're supposed to carve the duck for you at the table but for us it arrived at the table already carved. The duck also didn't really have much flavor and was on the dryer side. Really needed to add a ton of the sauce into the wrap to make it more flavorful. Overall, I left rather disappointed since this was supposed to be for a special occasion and the language barrier and subpar Peking duck didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. What made it worse were the exorbitant prices. For demonstration purposes, this meal at this Chinese restaurant cost us almost 2x the amount that we paid at a French restaurant that we visited in Montreal. Does that make any sense?? Heads up! This place is inside on the ground level of a chinese mall! If you follow yelp maps it sends you inside the mall but you don't know where to go! It's a very classy looking place. Waitstaff are attentive and I love the architecture of the brick wall inside. Once seated there are small appetizers for you to munch on. There is a red packet that inside has a pair of chopsticks, mint, toothpick and hand towel. Pretty cool. Your really paying for the ambiance and the pretty way the food is presented. It is not large portions but just enough. The menu is on a tablet that can be english or chinese. We ordered (things I'll have to describe since i don't know what they really called them): House pancake 3/5: Wanted to compare this to "pancakes" we get in the bay area. It was a decent size and the difference was that there was an aftertaste of coconut. It wasn't bad but it really needs a sauce to go with it. We ended up using the dumpling sauce which made it have a sweet savory flavor. Lucky dumplings 4/5: This dish was ordered cuz it just looked too cool to pass up! They are dumplings filled with veggies and duck. It's an awesome presentation and it tastes pretty good. Pricey for 6 dumplings but I guess it's all about the photos. Fried fish with sweet sauce 4/5: This was pretty good because the batter was not even and the dish was thinly sliced. lol. The sauce reminded me of lemon chicken but knowing it was fish made me feel like it was healthier. Mi fun noodles with crab, calamari and shrimp 4/5: I really liked this dish for the contrast in textures of the soft bounciness of the mi fin noodles contrasting against the pop of the fish eggs. Saw pieces of shrimp, didn't notice any crab and got a piece or two of calamari. House dumplings 3/5: This was probably the best deal of all the items ordered for the quantity for the price. I was not impressed by the dumplings but my friends were. Mah jong tiles 4/5: Okay, admittedly I really wanted to come here cuz I thought this just looked way too fun. I'm not sure what the "tiles" were made of but it did have some nuts inside. I dunno why they just didn't make it out of mango pudding. Maybe what it was was classier? Milk rabbit dessert (free with yelp review) 4/5: This guy was sooooo cute I didn't want to eat him! The flavor was very subtle. We decided it was probably some kind of milk. Neither of the desserts were overly sweet. Overall, I'd give this place a 4/5 just for the service and cool looking dishes. Glad I came to try it out but for $150 it's not a place I plan to frequent. We were full enough but not rolling out the door full. Oh weird thing was it was someone's birthday and they had some sound track belt out happy birthday which totally didn't fit with the vibe of the place. Came here for dinner recently and it was my second time here. The first time, I definitely did not know what to order to eat between two people but this recent time we ordered a lot of their signature dishes. They are most famous for their duck- the duck is served Peking duck style but you can make it. It also comes with toast, duck skin and caviar as another offering and the last, you can have the duck bones made in soup or a different option. The duck itself was very juicy and good. Some other dishes we ordered were chicken in chili oil and this was a crowd favorite. Soy sauce marinated chicken was also a hit. We ordered a lot and the camera definitely did not eat first but everything was pretty good. I have to say though that only thing that would take away a star would be the price to quantity ratio. Some plates were pretty small for the prices they charge. They also have private rooms you can book - minimum charge is $488 which is what we did. read more

I came during mother's day with a group of 5 people. It was about an hour wait. The decorations in here are very pretty and full of Chinese culture. The menu is on a tablet. I appreciate that every dish has a picture on the menu. It makes it a lot easier to order what we want to eat. We ordered the half duck, seafood vermicelli, lucky bag, and flapjack (pork intestine). For the duck, it also came with the soup. I enjoyed eating the seafood vermicelli and the lucky bag. The duck portion was quite small but it tasted good. I didn't eat the pork intestine but my family thought there wasn't enough pork in it. They put a lot of carb fillers into that dish. Overall, it was a good experience. Juqi was our first stop when we arrived in Flushing & we decided to have lunch there today! They're located inside the Tangram Mall in Flushing, Queens NY & serve authentic northern Chinese food. I would say their food is pretty legitimate if you're looking for Peking duck & bbq sizzling meats. For food, we ordered: -1/2 a peking duck (came w/ wraps, sauce, & cucumbers + daikon) -royal style bbq lamb -organic cauliflower w/ pork belly -braised pork belly w/ brown sauce This was the perfect amount of food for five people and we still had a little bit of leftovers left of the royal style bbq lamb. The food was fantastic and honestly, tasted like the same that I could find if I were back in China. Which is very rare because I typically find that Chinese food in the U.S. just does not compare but Juqi was phenomenal. Everything was full of flavor, and the presentations were a plus! I honestly loved all the dishes we ordered today and had no favorites because they were all so good. I'd say that the only thing I wasn't a huge fan of had nothing to do with the quality/taste of their food & is actually their service. Service was pretty bad honestly. To order food, they give you a tablet to order, however, you aren't allowed to send in the order yourselves like how you can at some places. We were trying to get ahold of a staff member to put in our order for about 20 minutes. The food is fresh and delicious! I highly recommend the crab stir-fried noodles! I order it every time I come here! They also have new items like the "Beef Mushroom King" and the winter hot pot with meatballs! Generous portions and great taste! This is the original branch of the roast duck restaurant! When we first sat down, three small appetizer dishes were already on the table: crispy broad beans, soy sauce marinated spicy seaweed, and traditional thin fried crackers dusted with sugar. A delicious way to start the meal. The Peking Duck was excellent--we ordered half a duck, which came with a hearty duck soup. It was rich and comforting. We also tried the Chinese Cabbage with Sesame Paste (乾隆白菜), a dish said to be favored by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The cabbage is raw, but surprisingly sweet and juicy, with no bitterness, and coated in a creamy peanut sauce. It's unique and definitely worth trying. Another highlight was the Lucky Bag--dumpling-style wrappers filled with duck meat, spinach, chives, and a touch of black truffle oil. The wrapper had a nice chew, and while the flavor was good, the filling was a bit dry. Overall, this is a great spot to enjoy a meal with family or friends. They offer cozy booths and round birdcage-style café tables that would be perfect for larger gatherings or special events. read more

Absolutely loved the Peking duck here! The skin was SO crispy and thin, exactly how I like it, and the meat was super tender and juicy without being too greasy. Everything tasted really fresh, and the duck had so much flavor even on its own. I've tried Peking duck at quite a few places before, and this is honestly one of the best I've had. Of course they have an English menu. They also speak English as well
I see there is a half Beijing duck for $59. As a solo diner, can i order this and get the full experience with buns, crispy skin, soup etc served in multiple courses?
You will not get the entire experience as with getting the whole duck. With the half, you will only get the steam wraps along side the duck. You will then get to choose btwn the soup or the fried bones. So you get a two course meal.
Is the menu only in Chinese or is there a menu in English so that people who are not so fluent with mandarin can order?
