classic chicken noodle soup
Ann D.

Had dumplings, and cucumber salad first visit, second visit had authentic chicken noodle soup. Lots of students on line both times. Sit and eat- or take out- service was great- rapid fire- many to feed- great place for authentic food, very satisfied. Just go!

I came here for lunch with some friends and we had an overall good time. The space has lots of seating and you order in a line, item by item to build your bowl. I got a salad with tomato egg sauce, BBQ chicken, cucumber, red cabbage, bok choy, and cilantro, green onion, and mandarins as garnishes. If we show our student ID, we get a 5% discount with a coupon card. The server also told me that if we ordered online, it would be 10% off. Service was really nice! I thought the food was fine overall though. It wasn't bad, but for a $15 bowl, slightly pricey for what you are given.

Service was amazing, the employee who helped us was named Terry. That man deserves a raise for the quality of our visit was and the way every dish i had ordered was handled with care! The atmosphere was very friendly and calm, I will be returning and telling everyone I know about this spot. Thank you to the Junzi Team and Terry, who made this a very lovely experience!

I am a big fan of create your own bowls! I had the salad with braised beef along with various vegetables and crunchy toppings. The service was quick and I thought the portion was appropriate (came out to about 17 dollars with tax). I went during lunch time and there was a good crowd. Can't wait to go back!

Ordered the wide noodle with tomato egg sauce. The egg seems like yolk and the chunks end up being too solid in parts, but I really enjoy how fast and delicious the soup is. The make your own bowl has some good variety. The toppings are very generous. The pickled red cabbage in specific was a lot, but the taste was good.

Back to Junzi for a second time and it confirmed everything I said after my first visit. Comforting, fresh and quickly prepared. I enjoyed every bite.

Came here bc I'm a Lucas fan. I had pretty high hopes. My friend and I ordered the beef soup noodles and the accidentally got the veggie dumplings. The noodles were good but overall flavor was sweeter than I liked. Beef was tender and good portions of beef and noodle. The dumplings were steamed so they took very long. They were done after we finished eating our noodles, but they were very good. I would order them again.

Noodles are delicious! Good spot near Columbia campus. If you order online you get a discount too. There's only a few people working though so it takes a bit. Took one star off because although the noodles were good, the chicken I added for the protein was super dry. Everything else was great though. Jasmine tea was good too

I LOVE the customizable aspect and build your own bowl!!! I ordered the knife noodles with Shanghai scallion sauce, mapo tofu and all the veggies. We also got veggie dumplings, beef noodle soup. Great service and it's a fast casual ambiance geared toward Columbia University students. Fair price as well.

Really good spot for lunch in the middle of the work day! I like that you can create your own bowl to your liking. Super clean and new restaurant. Even better, the staff are super nice and helpful!

I'm a big Junzi fan!! Healthy, customizable bowls. I like both the noodles and the rice options and my fav protein is the mapo tofu. The spicy sesame sauce is also the best. Interior is clean and the staff is always friendly and quick. Price is not that cheap but reasonable compared to other similar spots.

This place is a great to grab a quick meal to go or catch up casually with friends. I opted for a to go option on a late dinner night, and was pleased with the quick service model. The employee on staff at the time was very helpful in understanding what flavors go well together for a first timer like me! The service model is fast casual, but considering I don't eat this cuisine of food very often it makes you feel a bit more...upscale? Its definitely not something I would put in fast-food esque category, but higher tier than chipotle as a comparison. I opted for a build your own, and felt that the meal was satisfying, tasty, and flavorful. The portion size was great, and the ingredients were great quality. (You must try the ginger scallion sauce) I will say that it was a bit difficult to pick which noodle to start with, but they all seem great and no bad choice could be made. I did not realize you pick your type of noodle before the sauce. I'd definitely opt for the knife (wide) next time! Pricing seems on par for NY - $13ish with a student discount, and is worth it for a meal you probably could not make so easily at home! Would definitely come again when I'm in the area :)

Good food, even better service. The people that work here make this place great. They have a variety of sauces and the fire cracker chicken is very very good. Vegetables are fresh and the taste is proof of that.

Ask the Community - Junzi Kitchen

Is Lucas Sin still the executive chef here?

Is this place self-service?

It's counter service, similar to chipotle where you go down the line and someone makes your bowl as you tell them what you want in it. You pay at the counter and then there is plenty of open seating.

Sometimes poke can taste fishy or just not fresh, but all the ingredients in my bowl were incredibly fresh. I believe it was the owner working when I grabbed take out and she was so kind and helpful. I was craving poke yesterday and found that this "Food for Life" does poke! After a rather…read moredisappointing recent experience at a poke shop in Fort Lee, I decided to give them a try and I was happy that I did! First, the name - I was wondering if this was a chain since I know one in Fort Lee, and a new one sprang up on 9W/Sylvan Ave. in Englewood Cliffs... and the lady told me they're all independently owned under same "theme/name." Ok, now that we got that out of the way... (asked nobody ever but still) THEY ARE BACK after closing for a month due to Coronavirus, now for a week. The owner lady told me people still think they're closed, so I wanna get the word out there to come SUPPORT your local business! PLACE - Bright and meticulously clean with well laid out menu items. Poke isn't on their circulated menu so took a picture with updated pricing. FOOD - I ordered Tuna poke and Spicy Salmon poke ($14 ea.) and I was not disappointed. There was a sushi chef on premise working with chunks of sashimi fish preparing orders. When I got home to eat, I noticed the fish was really fresh, with sensible usual poke toppings, and I love the fact that they actually use fresh chunks of salmon for their "Spicy Salmon" unlike many joints that cut corner by using the mashed up stuff with less fresh fish and fillers. They also veered towards light in terms of sriracha mayo and shoyu which preserved the taste just right, and I poured a bit of ponzu to suit my own taste. Portion was generous and came with a bowl of hot miso soup which was just perfect. Only minor feedback would be that rice was a bit blocky-cooler than I'd have liked so took wee bit more effort to eat together with the toppings... but not a big deal. With recent rise in delivery apps you might be tempted to (not even sure if they participate), but you know how they kill the restaurant's margin... So get off your butt and just go pick it up yourself... you need fresh air / groceries anyway right? :) Thank you for a delicious dinner and we'll be back.

The restaurant has an interesting history. Even though the original opened in Cresskill, NJ, it unfortunately has permanently closed. However, not only is the Edgewater location amazing, but it had the guts to open during COVID (2022), survived, and is succeeding. The restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. Their decorations are tasteful, the presentation of the food is award winning, and the service is stellar. I started with a Mocha Cappuccino and it was so good. Served in a large mug, an airy/creamy top, and had the perfect amount of mocha happiness throughout. Before the meal even started, we were graciously given Za'atar (a popular Middle Eastern spice blend with an earthy, tangy, and nutty flavor, toasted sesame seeds, and sumac, with salt). It was crunchy, drizzled with oil, and I enjoyed how each thin pita bite made the spices explode all over the table. The entrees were: Strawberry French Toast. The next was the Falafel Platter (chickpeas and fava bean balls, served with tahini sauce, pickles, turnips, tomato, and mint). The last selection was the Avocado Toast (Citrus cured salmon over multigrain bread, tomatoes, onions, capers & citrus vinaigrette). Not only were all of these dishes beautifully presented, but all were filling, as well. My Avocado Toast kept me full for the rest of the day and the salmon was enjoyably salty, thin, and delicious. I noticed a dessert in their display case and ordered it. The dessert was the Riz Bil Ashta (Lebanese rice cream, infused with orange blossom water, blended with milk and cheese, and topped with crushed pistachios). This dessert tasted like a regal custard and the pistachios added an enjoyable texture that makes it recommended. Of course, I had to cap the meal with a Mocchiato. This amazing beverage followed the rest of the meal..... delicious, eyes closed good, and every sip was full-flavored. Thank you, Madison Café and Grill, for presenting a memorable meal and I wish you continued success.

We had high expectations but when the salad and the half of a deviled egg arrived I was honestly surprised. The presentation felt cheap and the portion was super small. Hubby had the steak, they did not give option how you would like it and it arrived medium/well done. The portions were so tiny I was still hungry, for the price I honestly wish we went to omakase instead. Oh. And they automatically add 25% service. Owner is very friendly and service was polite but for the price it felt like we got robbed. Not sure we'll be back, really wanted to like it but the only memorable thing was the music and ambience. I felt compelled to review because I really wanted the owners to see this and make changes. The potential is there but with many restaurants around, there simply wasn't anything special. Pls be transparent to your guests and include info about prix fixe menu on reservation next time, and perhaps give your guests more value for the money. $150 should at least be 4-5 course for the size that was provided.. I had the cookies and cream shake twice and the smores once. My gf's sister had the chocolate shake.
