Strongly recommend the ying yang style pot. We Chongching spicy broth and herbal ginseng chicken broth as our bases. Both very good.

I am SO thrilled that we finally have a real* hot pot restaurant on the UWS!! After years of watching good, authentic Chinese restaurants of other kinds pop up (and stay up) in areas adjacent to Columbia University with interest, and numerous hot pot restaurants open up in Manhattan south of Bryant Square Park with envy, it is finally our time! * by real hot pot, I mean cook-your-own, soup-based hot pot; none of that dry pot nonsense Spice Lamb (on Amsterdam and 106th) offers an all-you-can-eat hot pot only, I think. It's $33.95 a head for adults, half that for little ones. To my understanding, this is a pretty great deal for AYCE. The quality of the food is fair to high, not at all shoddy. You can easily customize the meal for your own dietary preferences, whether you're a vegetarian, pescatarian, omnivore, pollotarian, chili-head, keto dieter, etc... You can choose from something like 10 different soup bases and start from there. We had the spicy Sichuan soup base on one side of our yin yang pot; herbal chicken ginseng on the other. The Sichuan side was legit and spicy, full of good mala spice, not for the faint of hear. The herbal chicken half was great for cooling down -- and for the spice averse members of our family. I sometimes find the number of options at hot pot restaurants overwhelming. Here, the selection is not as wide ranging as it might be at a Haidilao for instance, but there's enough variety to keep things interesting and delicious, not so much variety that newcomers to hot pot stare at the menu like deer in headlights. I was so excited to eat that I (uncharacteristically) forgot to snap photos. But IIRC, the menu includes: - several different cuts of beef, including beef tongue - at least one, but I think more than one, cut of lamb and chicken - several cuts of pork - several different tofu preparations including yuba (tofu "skin"), fried tofu rolls - several types of fish and shellfish - something like three or four leafy green vegetables, including chrysanthemum greens - three+ types of mushrooms (enoki, wood ear, shiitake, possibly others) - numerous options for noodles, including handmade noodles, which my group said were good The seafood we tried was quite fresh, though one freshwater fish we tried tasted a bit "muddy." The lamb and Angus beef were both well cut, tender and delicious; other beef cuts of variable quality. (The first order of tongue was excellent; the second very tough and gristly.) We love and appreciate the yuba and tofu rolls, both family favorites. There is, per usual, a nice condiment bar where you go to mix your own dipping sauces. There are plenty of cracker-type snacks at the bar as well. I'm not sure if those are meant to be used as garnishes or condiments, but we enjoyed them straight as part of our post meal "dessert." For sweet dessert, they have ice cream cups in the freezer case. I didn't look inside, but my kiddos ended up with some low brow ice cream cups. I read some prior reviews that mentioned fruit as an option. That would've been nice! Our waitress was super sweet and helpful. I wonder if some printable materials or verbal instruction from wait staff might be helpful for newcomers to hot pot dining. (Some members of our family, who had never had hot pot before, were at a loss about how to order and what to do at the condiment / sauce bar.) Not sure if they have a real reservation system up, yet. They don't take online reservations. A nice man responded to a voicemail I left and I made a reservation through him. For now, you probably don't need a reservation on a weekday. That may change once the term officially begins at Columbia. Is it the best hot pot in NYC? Nope. But is it the best on the UWS? Heck yeah. It's the only hot pot on the UWS. Let's keep this gem open.

I had a great time here. It's like your typical hot pot restaurant - a tablet where you place your order, the food comes out quickly, $35/pp, and it's ayce. My friend and I did 2 broths, the chicken soup and the spicy beef, both were delish. There's also a sauce bar with recipes or you can make your own recipe. There's fresh fruit available and of course the complimentary dessert after you're done.

We love this new place! The food is amazing, the curry soup is truly to die for. The staff is very helpful and everything is very new and clean. Very easy to navigate for anyone new to hot pot. We have only been a few times but every-time we leave we already are talking about how we can't wait to come back! What a neighborhood gem!

We found a great new Hot Pot Spot on the UWS! Everything was amazing!! The staff was attentive and friendly, and kept bringing out new selections to try. Great deal for an all you can eat. The Coconut curry was our favorite! Fun experience! Bring your appetite!! They even include ice cream at the end of your meal! There are so many choices. You can choose a group pot, or individual. We'll be back in our next visit to NYC!

The food is absolutely incredible. Fresh and fast service. The spicy broth is stellar and so flavorful. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful, and the sweet woman working was so excited to answer any questions. The kitchen is FAST, so you get your food quickly and get to take full advantage of your hour and a half AYCE. Also such a great price for Hot Pot in NYC and really clean and fresh ambiance.

This AYCE hotpot and BBQ spot in Midtown is a great casual spot for dinner with friends. For their…read moredinner menu, you can do AYCE hotpot and bbq for ~$43pp, which also includes appetizers and some drinks. For alcoholic drinks, such as soju and beer, you can add ~$7pp for AYCD. The tables are spacious and the place is bright. We ordered a variety of meats and veggies for hotpot and bbq and it was alright. The hot pot is definitely better than the bbq as the meat quality was too fatty for bbq. Moreover, because they don't change the grills, the oils from the meat just pool onto the grill and the meats get really oily to eat after a while. We also got the fried chicken, spring rolls, and fried buns apps and I thought that the chicken and buns were good but the spring rolls were okay. The only thing I would have to say is that the service isn't the best. Although they are kind, half of the things we ordered never arrived or we had to constantly ask them to bring it out/check on our order.

I loved this place!…read more I came here on a late Friday night, probably around 8pm and was glad that they were still opened. We were greeted very welcomely and was seated right away. It was unusually cold in NY during this time (5/23/25) and initially we were seated by the door where we would catch the cold draft every time the door opened. We asked if we can switch seats and the waiter was more than helpful. I feel bad for not getting his name, because he was very helpful throughout the entire dinner service, but, I've been walking around in the cold all day and the only thing that was on my mind at that time, was a nice warm meal. I've done a lot of Chinese hotpots and this was the first that we get the soup and grill without a price difference. The selections were typical, some may say less than other places, but, I felt that less was better. When there is too much to chose from, you don't know what to pick or pick too much. The one thing that I did missed was fresh tofu. They had a variety of tofu but not fresh tofu. But, I probably shouldn't waste my stomach space on tofu for and AYCE, anyway, lol! We opt for an non-spicy and a spicy soup base. If you are like me and do not like mala (numbing spice), I would not recommend getting a spicy soup base. Even my cousin, that does like mala, said it was a little overbearing after a while. If you do love spicy, like me, they have a condiment station to make your own sauce and have several chili options to chose from that is not numbing spice. For the price and selections, I feel that it was very satisfying. I really enjoyed their homemade peach and kumquat lemon tea; but, order fast because once it's gone, you are out of luck! The place was clean and the noise level was average. I think this is the best Chinese hotpot place that I have experienced in USA and would definitely go back!

They all serve some complimentary chicken portions. The fish tofu, Napa cabbage, udon noodles, and Wagyu scallion pancake were all great as well. I'm also obsessed with the complimentary soft serve at the end--I don't normally like soft serve, but the milkiness of this one and the cone really hits the spot! I like how everyone gets their own small pot and can choose their individual broth. We arrived on-time and waited another maybe 5 mins for our table. No biggie. I really love that each person gets their own soup pot. Makes it much easier when you've got a variety of spice levels to deal with. Everything we got was fresh and good quality. The restaurant space itself is very nice and modern feeling. Pretty large with a variety of table spaces and sizes. Everyone we interacted with was friendly. Service was good and they were pretty busy but it was only felt in my drink being delayed from the bar (placed before we ordered any food but showed up only after food arrived. Husband's beer arrived super fast though fwiw) My only gripe is the menu on the iPad thing - there are no descriptions of anything (including cocktails). We kept trying to click stuff on the iPad to see the description, but it was adding it to the cart. It would be great if there were descriptions, so you could see more detail about each item before you order (at least for the cocktails). We ate à la carte but the AYCE was starting while we were there and it looked pretty dope. Lots of good stuff laid out in large qty. All in all we will probably add this to our hotpot restaurant list and will return again.

A size small is more than enough to share for 2 people. The broth is amazing- hearty with a hint of miso. It's not a common dish to find so my heart is full! Truffle crab kamameshi was also impressive with the overload of minced snow crab and ikura eggs. It's like eating a heated chirashi sushi dish as it's set in a hot clay pot. Definitely a get if you love seafood. Yakitori overall was ok. They were all smothered in the same kind of sauce which took away from each pieces' flavor profile but overall they have a large menu offering for those looking for skewer options. For appetizers we recommend the tako wasabi (diced octopus in a wasabi based sauce) and the beef tongue. Ai Ki Ya is a great place for late night, Japanese soul food eats nestled in Korea town.
