ORIGIN: ER Hotpot opened in 2023 thanks to a group of friends. LOCATION: ER Hotpot has several locations in Manhattan. This one is tucked behind a door on Sixth Avenue. CONCEPT: ER Hotpot brings Chinese Sichuan Hotpot to midtown, a culinary tradition that invites conversation through a slow, shared dining experience. What makes ER Hotpot stand out is the ability to select ingredients, including the broth. ATMOSPHERE: When I first entered I anticipated the interior to be designed like a fast food American chain, but it wound up being far more interesting. Long lanterns encased in bamboo are festooned from the ceiling. Neon signs add pops of color to ceiling and wall. There are several seating areas in the dining room space, thanks to physical or visual dividers, allowing a more intimate feeling. Alltogether the space feels decidedly contemporary. SERVICE: Service was lacking during an early Wednesday evening. We ordered from digital tablets, and the first step was to change the language setting to English. We never had hotpot before, and while photos of each add-on were helpful, it would be better to have some guidance as first timers. When the ingredients arrived, there was no guidance as to how long to cook the wide variety of items to ensure ideal taste and safe eating -- bowls were named and placed on the table. The employees on the floor were centered on distributing the digital order and cleaning tables. Seasonings were ordered, but we didn't see that these were available via guest pick up behind a pillar until we were able to get a passing employee's attention. EXPERIENCE: This was a relaxing and fun first experience that will likely improve as we better understand what to order and how to coordinate timing of ingredient cooking. In addition, dipping sauces are apparently a critical component of the cuisine, so be sure to pick up a variety. In a photo posted by Randy on the Battery location's Yelp page I found that the dipping sauces are expected to be freshly combined by customers in one of four recommended ways (e.g. "traditional hotpot sauce" = 2 sesame oil + 2 oyster sauce + garlic + scallion + cilantro". The majority of customers were of Asian descent at this location, which I considered a good sign in terms of authenticity of cuisine and quality. TIPS: We were able to get the attention of a passing employee towards the end of our meal, and we were able to get some guidance. Strips of red meat should be cooked for 30 seconds, all seafood 3 minutes, and dumplings 5 minutes. It was also recommended that we divide the pot in two, and tomato and spicy broth were his suggested pairings. Expect to pay around $50 per person. Chosen broth is periodically refreshed. ER Hotpot has several locations, and some of the photos posted here represent other locations. Additional charge of 3% for those not paying via cash. Came here for dinner with a group of 10, got 2 tables next to each other and enjoyed the hot pot. Coconut drink was refreshing. Friendly staff and quick service. They have a sauce station on the side and some fruits. Pay in cash to avoid the 3% credit card fee.l

Came here for Valentine's Day yesterday!! $115/couple including taxes and tip, unlimited buffet style. Before 5pm it's $38/person. It was semi crowded but a pretty good vibe. My partner and I did the buffet style with dual soup base. The service was really fast. And you get to make your own sauces. We ordered the food on the iPad and everything came within 5 mins. So if you're hungry, they got you! Pro tips: - Do their e-gift card online (becomes available the day after you order it), it will save you a couple of bucks. Though they don't do this all the time. - Don't order too much at once. You can always order more after you finish your plate. - Also make a reservation in case it gets busy! - No need to order lettuce because every plate comes with a leaf of lettuce, haha! - Sodas are free but some sodas and alcohol will cost a little more. The overall experience was pretty good! I would come here again.

A beautiful spot for hotpot! The meat is fresh and arrives incredibly fast. The staff is attentive, and the manager even came by at the end to thank us for dining. Bonus points for the clean and stylishly decorated bathroom haha!

This was a great find on a cold day in the city. Food was amazing. They have a nice variety of selections for hot pot. Spice level for soup is also perfect. And I love the fruit and soup self service station they have. Almost missed it. This place also has one of the nicest and cleanest bathrooms I've seen in the city.

Great location, bright and colorful decor. The price was reasonable, not expensive by New York standards. I was glad that the hot pot wasn't a buffet style, but we ended up ordered too much and still felt like having a buffet. Lots of condiments to go with the hot pot. Jello and dates sweet soup were provided at the condiment bar for a small fee. We were happy with the hot pot and the service.

Lunch set is worth it and has so much variety

The service is efficient, ambience is clean and cute with neon sign signs. I love the fact that my clothing did not smell bad after leaving the restaurant. Food were fresh but not much selections for seafood. Broth was just average tasting but I didn't taste much msg which is good. Consider reasonable price for 2 for about $120 included tips. Worth a try!

I don't usually opt for hotpot in Manhattan -- I'm a Flushing girl through and through -- but my cousin really wanted to go here, and there's a first time for everything. The interior is so modern and kind of upscale. It give the vibes of fun night with friends. You order everything you want on a tablet and then the servers bring the food out for you, and you can keep ordering as you eat. Everything was good; we were partial to the fish tofu and fish balls. We tried two different beefs and thought they tasted the same, so just go for the cheaper one. The mala soup was too spicy for us, but we are a little weak when it comes to the spice department so for all I know it's our problem. The highlight here was their STRAWBERRY JELLY MILK. They have it as an option for scooping at the sauce bar, and that milk is just so fire for no reason. It genuinely saved us when our mouths were on fire from the mala soup. DELICIOUS strawberry milk, guys. I think at the end of the day hotpot is just expensive for no reason in Manhattan, and that's why I don't know if you'd find me here again. It's a really great atmosphere though, and if you're craving hotpot night with friends, this is a great option.

Very hip hot pot place. It has an iPad to order in Chinese or English and also a self service sauce and sides bar. We got the $99.99 set for 4 and a bunch of sides. Although it isn't all you can eat, you can still get fill from the pickled cabbage or oranges. For extra sides, we got fried chicken feet, chicken, and shrimp paste. I always seem to forget not to put vegetable into the mala side and end up dying at the end. If you're sitting in the middle section, there's no backs to your chairs, so your jackets go to a coat hanger in the front. Probably my only gripe is that for a set of four, you only get one bowl of rice to share. Maybe this is just healthier.

Solid hotpot spot! We came for dinner with a large group without making a reservation, and they were able to seat us right away. The items here feel pretty high quality, and the soups are also delicious at flavoring all the ingredients. We got quite a wide spread of items from meats to vegetables to tofu, since we were a group of 8. I think my favorite pieces were the fried tofu skin rolls, fish fillets, and quail eggs. The fish fillets are so perfectly tender and flavorful and I would highly recommend trying them! On the other hand, I wasn't the biggest fan of the brisket since it was super thin and disintegrated really easily. Broth wise, we chose the pork bone and spicy, both of which were fantastic. Pro tipL putting the fish in the spicy broth results in something similar to shuai ju yu, a popular dish. For the amount of food we got the price was average for New York - not too outrageous but decently up there. I'd recommend it if you wanted hotpot!

Excellent hotpot place to go to in Manhattan. I bring all my friends here! You order on tablets (what soup broth you want and what hotpot ingredients you want) and they have a really great selection of food items. It's definitely a little overpriced, but it's Manhattan and honestly, I've seen worse hotpot prices at other restaurants. Once you walk in, the ambiance is very modern and fun, with neon signs up on the ceiling and colorful decorations. Service is alright, the food comes out very quickly and the waiters are pretty attentive to cleaning up any dirty dishes you have. If you're craving hotpot in these winter months, this is a great spot to check out! (side note: one of my FAVORITE parts about this place is that it's connected to a yogurt drink store called Yomi and you can order their yogurt drinks at your table. Definitely try the original yogurt with purple rice, it's so good and pairs perfectly with hotpot)

This is a modern hotpot restaurant in midtown area. Pros: near Grand Central; spacious room available; great service; appetizer & sauce selections are abundant; food quality is good. Cons: they have some other sister stores close by. Very easy to come to a wrong place. Be mindful of the exact location.

For their…read moredinner menu, you can do AYCE hotpot and bbq for ~$43pp, which also includes appetizers and some drinks. For alcoholic drinks, such as soju and beer, you can add ~$7pp for AYCD. The tables are spacious and the place is bright. We ordered a variety of meats and veggies for hotpot and bbq and it was alright. The hot pot is definitely better than the bbq as the meat quality was too fatty for bbq. Moreover, because they don't change the grills, the oils from the meat just pool onto the grill and the meats get really oily to eat after a while. We also got the fried chicken, spring rolls, and fried buns apps and I thought that the chicken and buns were good but the spring rolls were okay. The only thing I would have to say is that the service isn't the best. Although they are kind, half of the things we ordered never arrived or we had to constantly ask them to bring it out/check on our order.

I loved this place!…read more I came here on a late Friday night, probably around 8pm and was glad that they were still opened. We were greeted very welcomely and was seated right away. It was unusually cold in NY during this time (5/23/25) and initially we were seated by the door where we would catch the cold draft every time the door opened. We asked if we can switch seats and the waiter was more than helpful. I feel bad for not getting his name, because he was very helpful throughout the entire dinner service, but, I've been walking around in the cold all day and the only thing that was on my mind at that time, was a nice warm meal. I've done a lot of Chinese hotpots and this was the first that we get the soup and grill without a price difference. The selections were typical, some may say less than other places, but, I felt that less was better. When there is too much to chose from, you don't know what to pick or pick too much. The one thing that I did missed was fresh tofu. They had a variety of tofu but not fresh tofu. But, I probably shouldn't waste my stomach space on tofu for and AYCE, anyway, lol! We opt for an non-spicy and a spicy soup base. If you are like me and do not like mala (numbing spice), I would not recommend getting a spicy soup base. Even my cousin, that does like mala, said it was a little overbearing after a while. If you do love spicy, like me, they have a condiment station to make your own sauce and have several chili options to chose from that is not numbing spice. For the price and selections, I feel that it was very satisfying. I really enjoyed their homemade peach and kumquat lemon tea; but, order fast because once it's gone, you are out of luck! The place was clean and the noise level was average. I think this is the best Chinese hotpot place that I have experienced in USA and would definitely go back!

Pretty large with a variety of table spaces and sizes. Everyone we interacted with was friendly. Service was good and they were pretty busy but it was only felt in my drink being delayed from the bar (placed before we ordered any food but showed up only after food arrived. Husband's beer arrived super fast though fwiw) My only gripe is the menu on the iPad thing - there are no descriptions of anything (including cocktails). We kept trying to click stuff on the iPad to see the description, but it was adding it to the cart. It would be great if there were descriptions, so you could see more detail about each item before you order (at least for the cocktails). We ate à la carte but the AYCE was starting while we were there and it looked pretty dope. Lots of good stuff laid out in large qty. All in all we will probably add this to our hotpot restaurant list and will return again.
