This place is overpriced à la carte, but cheaper with an ordered set. We did not want to order an individual set because we are not very hungry and do not want to waste food. It is just ridiculous that the soup base costs $9.99; it is considered bland, especially the tomato soup paste. The beef short rib was soft; it melted in your mouth. The only thing that is worth the price. The mocktail/cocktail is not worth the price. Customer service was so so, I got blamed when the tablet was below 10% battery, and by the time I wanted to pay, the tablet was dead. There is a CC processing fee if you use a credit card. Just a heads up.

I love Dolar Shop! I have been going here for years now. The broths are delicious, the service is phenomenal, and the inside is very modern and bright!

Amazing hot pot experience. You pick your own broth base and then choice of meats + veggies. The broth didn't take that long to heat and everything came out so quickly. When we saw the topping bar we were flabbergasted... unlimited delicious toppings for sauces & little dessert-y things like lychee bubbles and even fruit. It was heavenly. So nice to have an opportunity to try some new flavors. Place was large and clean and all I could think about was how I wanted to bring all my friends there.

Let's start off 2026 with a review on the best meal we had on our nyc trip. Individual set meals with unlimited refills on udon noodles. Udon noodles are basically what my kids would only eat at hot pot places anyways so it was an amazing deal for us (The usual place we go to back in LA charges $3 per small bowl of udons to cook.). In addition, they have a full bar of snacks, sweets, and make your own dessert soup. Did I mention they are super kid friendly? Our server, before we even got our menu, already handing out little toys to my kids. Totally won all of us over before we even see food on the table. Loved the foods, service, ambiance - everything about this place!

I've been wanting to come here for a while, but since it's not in our neighborhood, we only really remember it when we happen to be nearby. The first time we tried, they told us they had no availability even though we could see several open tables. We didn't argue or make a scene, just left and didn't come back for a long time. Recently a friend told me they're actually very good, so we decided to give them another chance. We arrived around 12:05 on a random Tuesday. They were still setting up, so we waited about 5-10 minutes and then were seated. As first timers, we got a quick intro to the menu. You can order individual sets or a la carte from the iPad. What we didn't realize is that the individual pots can have two broths, which is something usually reserved for larger shared pots. That was a very pleasant surprise and definitely a plus for a future visit. The sauce station in the back wasn't as extensive as some AYCE places, but everything was noticeably fresher. Our individual sets turned out to be the perfect amount of food and included a little bit of everything we would have ordered anyway. I mistakenly ordered extra spam, not realizing the set already came with it. It was good, but we didn't need the extra food and ended up having trouble finishing it. The creamy pork broth was rich and flavorful, and all of the ingredients were super fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal. At the end they offer vanilla soft serve in a sugar cone, which was a nice way to finish. The price was cheaper than the AYCE spots, and we left just as satisfied. If anything, the food quality and broth flavor here were better. We'll definitely be back.

I loved how everything was set up and tasted! It truly felt like a premium hot pot experience. The pork broth was fantastic and you can season it with as much or as little as you'd like. The meats were delicious and at the end of it all we were happy and full. The service was impeccable as well. Any questions we had the server was there to help us, he was very patient and recommended the best choices! The ambience was also 10/10 it's very clean, lost of family and friends of all ages were there and I will go as far as to say the other customers were super nice as well hahaha anyways I'll be back when in the area again. Check em out!

Solid hot pot spot in the east village the features individualized bowls rather than the more traditional, shared larger pots. Service is typical for a hotpot spot. You order from an iPad and food shows up. There's a sauce bar where you can make your sauces. Servers are quick to help if you ask for it. Food was good. Nothing revolutionary but solid quality with the usual hot pot items. The meat was tender and the seafood was fresh. Produce was well trimmed and prepared as well. I did feel that this place was a bit expensive for what they're offering, but I wouldn't say it's a bad value. Note: there's AYCE after 9:30pm. Haven't tried it, but it has piqued my interest.

The service here is really good and the staff was friendly. They were attentive and helped me out when the ice cream machine was not working. The atmosphere is lively and modern. The broths were flavorful and delicious. The meats were tender and great quality. They have a self-service bar, which offered a variety of sauces and desserts. The vanilla ice cream was so delicious and addicting. Their plum and watermelon juice were refreshing and not too sweet. I would definitely come back here again.

I was here for lunch. This Dolar Shop is across from the AMC. They have a spacious venue. This is hot pot but not AYCE! I was confused how to order, but the easiest way is to get the set. You choose meat, soup, and appetizer. Then they give you a veggie plate. It's a lot of food. The flat iron beef set is only $26.99, so I think that's a pretty good deal for all the food you get. Each person has their individual stove and hot pot. You can adjust the heat yourself. There is a buffet-style condiment and dessert bar in the back. Those gummies got me!! I was eating so many gummy worms and gummy bears before the food arrived. The napkins and chopsticks are on the drawer under the table. Service was great! They were so nice. I was here to celebrate a birthday, and that's what we indicated on the reservation. They provided a scratch card and honored that promo for that meal! Bathroom is downstairs. (Elevator available, but it said staff only) No Wifi. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. (3% credit card fee) ^If you fill out a survey, you get the 3% fee waived. We got this in addition to the birthday promo!

The soup bases here are amazing. The "silver soup," which is their white pepper pork broth, is absolutely delicious. The tomato and oxtail soup bases are also impressive--definitely among my favorites I've tried in New York City. The soup base comes with chicken and pork stomach strips, adding great texture and flavor. We ordered the prime beef, sliced very thin at about $30, and a seafood platter featuring scallops, fresh tiger shrimp, oysters, and shrimp paste. The waiter shapes the shrimp paste into small balls for easier cooking, and you can actually see chunks of shrimp in each piece--it's definitely a highlight. We also ordered various vegetables, tofu, and mushroom dishes. The total bill, pre-tax, came to around $150 for two adults and a 5-year-old, making this a fairly pricey spot. The sauce bar is one of the best I've seen. Their sha cha, beef, and shrimp sauces taste homemade and are incredibly flavorful, with plenty of ingredients to mix your own combination. The dessert bar stands out too, with Chinese jade jelly, different types of tapioca balls, tasty red bean paste, and a variety of toppings like pistachios and other nuts. However, cleanliness is a major issue. Many customers are young, and the sauce and dessert bars often appear neglected--messy and not cleaned promptly. Random items are scattered around the walls, open cabinets, and even on tables used for storage. The open kitchen looks disorganized. It's clear the owner has a great concept and high-quality ingredients, but the operations feel poorly managed--more like a chaotic street-side eatery in China than a Manhattan restaurant. Though the food is excellent, the untidy dining environment is a big downside. A bit more care and organization could truly elevate the entire experience.

Delicious hot pot and broth with good service but definitely very pricey. a la carte was $54 a person but i was definitely very full so could probably order less. I really enjoy the dessert bar at the end to make a coconut milk mochi fruit soup. That was a highlight that is also unique to this place. Because of the price point, i would consider going again if someone else suggested but it wouldn't be top of mind for me.

    Cheryl C.

Delicious hot pot with a wide variety of meats, sides, and desserts! I ordered the mushroom truffle soup which was very rich in umami flavor. Our servers were friendly. They also have a variety of desserts including jellies, soft serve, and toppings.

Any all you can eat dining experience HATES to see me and my big bro coming. Big bro is from Taiwan, and is more protein oriented than any other human being I've ever met, and his physique is proof. He's JACKED. He's like an Asian Johnny Bravo. I'll always recommend restaurants and he'll text back with "ehhh I'm just not seeing a lot of protein on the menu." When I recommended Dolar Shop, a Chinese hot pot restaurant in the East Village, I got the "I'm down" text. Those are tough to get from big bro. We walked in ready to go HAM, as it's all you can eat past 9:30pm for $46. We always get our money's worth out of an all you can eat restaurant. Hot Pot is cool because you pick your broth, mix your sauces from the sauce bar, and get full plates of raw meat and cook them right in the flavorful, boiling hot broth. This is only my 2nd time having hotpot, and it's such a unique dining experience. I've found the best way to learn about a culture when you can't hop on a plane is to try the food. Our feast consisted of the following: Flat Iron Beef (3x), Beef Boneless Short Rib, Chuck Eye Roll, New Zealand Lamb Flap, Beef Short Plate, Rib Eye, A Choy, Sweet Corn, and the Fish Roe Balls. Our favorite was the flat iron beef, as we got three orders of it. After our meal, we were as full as Ben Simmons after he got a max contract, but there is always room for soft serve ice cream. If there are two things in life I am an expert on, they are soft serve ice cream and rotisserie chicken. This soft serve was ELITE. I was feeling myself and tried to do the DQ Blizzard test on it, and failed miserably. My ice cream fell straight into the hotpot. I almost tried to cook some meat in my new ice cream flavored broth, but took the cowards way out. I'll be better next time, all I can do is try to improve everyday. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

The tables are spacious and the place is bright. We ordered a variety of meats and veggies for hotpot and bbq and it was alright. The hot pot is definitely better than the bbq as the meat quality was too fatty for bbq. Moreover, because they don't change the grills, the oils from the meat just pool onto the grill and the meats get really oily to eat after a while. We also got the fried chicken, spring rolls, and fried buns apps and I thought that the chicken and buns were good but the spring rolls were okay. The only thing I would have to say is that the service isn't the best. Although they are kind, half of the things we ordered never arrived or we had to constantly ask them to bring it out/check on our order.

I loved this place!…read more I came here on a late Friday night, probably around 8pm and was glad that they were still opened. We were greeted very welcomely and was seated right away. It was unusually cold in NY during this time (5/23/25) and initially we were seated by the door where we would catch the cold draft every time the door opened. We asked if we can switch seats and the waiter was more than helpful. I feel bad for not getting his name, because he was very helpful throughout the entire dinner service, but, I've been walking around in the cold all day and the only thing that was on my mind at that time, was a nice warm meal. I've done a lot of Chinese hotpots and this was the first that we get the soup and grill without a price difference. The selections were typical, some may say less than other places, but, I felt that less was better. When there is too much to chose from, you don't know what to pick or pick too much. The one thing that I did missed was fresh tofu. They had a variety of tofu but not fresh tofu. But, I probably shouldn't waste my stomach space on tofu for and AYCE, anyway, lol! We opt for an non-spicy and a spicy soup base. If you are like me and do not like mala (numbing spice), I would not recommend getting a spicy soup base. Even my cousin, that does like mala, said it was a little overbearing after a while. If you do love spicy, like me, they have a condiment station to make your own sauce and have several chili options to chose from that is not numbing spice. For the price and selections, I feel that it was very satisfying. I really enjoyed their homemade peach and kumquat lemon tea; but, order fast because once it's gone, you are out of luck! The place was clean and the noise level was average. I think this is the best Chinese hotpot place that I have experienced in USA and would definitely go back!

Nonetheless, it's expensive stuff and I've definitely reorder multiples of this if I got the Diamond Set. The waitress recommended 2 orders of each meat to start, which was perfect. Everything came out so quickly too. I really enjoyed the scallops, shrimp, and abalone in the seafood platter. I found the king crab too difficult to crack and eat though. We also really enjoyed the sides from the minced wagyu rice to takowasa. We ended up ordering another 3 sets of meat before we were too stuffed. I liked the ribeye and brisket most. The meat quality is great and cooked so quickly. I really enjoyed all the variety of dishes we got with this and service was so quick. For the broth, we get to pick two: sukiyaki and golden milk. My favorite is enjoying the soup afterwards to end the meal. Finally, we ended with some ice cream too. Mikiya is definitely a splurge, but their quality and service really does make it worthwhile. I'd be back on special occasions though, which will be a treat.
