It's ok overall. The rice noodles were over cooked/mushy. The service was average. It wasn't amazing or horrible. I'd give it another shot and not order the rice noodles. The flavors of the dish were good. read more

Great spot for a quick solo lunch or dinner. My go-to was the custom rice bowl with griddled tofu and the furu sesame sauce, plus veggies and toppings. Bring a branch to Silicon Valley, please! read more

Junzi food is so good. It's light but filling and the taste is just perfect! I can have Junzi everyday!

Junzi is one of the few places I looooove getting food from. I make excuses to myself why I shouldn't pickup dinner from my college dining hall just to grab a rice bowl from Junzi! I get their custom rice bowls which allows to pick and choose the add-ons, which is super convenient for me as I pick gluten-free options for some of the add-ons. They have a variety of meat options but my absolute favorites are the Green Pepper Beef and the Cantonese BBQ Chicken. They also have spicy options like Firecracker Chicken (*drooling emoji*) and Vegan options, such as griddled tofu. Another thing is their proportions are huge. Whenever I get a bowl, I barely finish half of it so I end up eating it for my second meal too. Their staff is super friendly and as a matter of fact, I had a chance to meet the owners of the restaurant too! The sweetest people ever! Coincidentally, I made my first order from Junzi on their anniversary! I usually place my orders via UberEats, but I found out that customers can also place orders through Junzi's website which is much convenient and the preparation + delivery takes less than 30 minutes to Yale. Overall, I would recommend Junzi to any food-lover I know! Hope to see a Junzi restaurant in CA soon! read more

Good enough food to overcome a fairly bad experience. Service was pretty rude (and inattentive when trying to change the order). One of those Chipotle-style "build a bowl" places, but they were out of so many things it was almost amusing. Was able to cobble together a tofu noodle bowl, but no mapo tofu, no chili crisp, no ginger sauce. Hard to tell what was available, you just had to keep trying while the woman making our food told us no. Can't see myself going back despite not minding the meal. read more

I wanted to like junzi, especially since I heard they served Juan bing. However they appeared to have taken the bing off the menu. I ordered the tomato flavored thick noodles with meatball and was not super impressed. They did not have the meatball available so I went with the tofu. It did not have a lot of flavor, although I did like the base tomato flavor. It just didn't carry through the whole dish. The consistency of the noodle was the best part of the dish. I like knife cut noodles for being thick and hearty. I also tried the beef and pepper rice. I liked that this was more flavorful but some of the pieces of beef was burnt. I liked the carrots and cilantro for adding depth to the dish. It wasn't anything special though. read more

I was skeptical but quickly amazed. Impressed might be an understatement. As you walk in you're greeted by a table that gives directions for ordering (Online through their website). First time ordering get 20% off. 3 categories; Noodles bowl, rice bowl, and salad bowl. My order? Noodle bowl & Rice bowl. What I chose is in the pics. Negatives: chicken was on the dry side, noodles could use a bit more sauce also on the dry side. I had to add sesame oil & dumpling sauce from my pantry. Positives: OMG! The size could literally feed 2 people (that was impressive #1!) But then again I did order extra knife noodles and extra chicken. Regardless, I'm still impressed. The noodles, you can see and taste the quality in them. Delish! The ingredients like cucumber, tofu, bean sprouts, purple cabbage, leeks, scallions, & cilantro were fresh and the bowl full of FLAVOR! The place was bright and cozy. Not much seating; probably enough for 4-6 people but bc of COVID less than that. I would definitely revisit and try the egg tomato one. Mmmmmm mmmmmmm read more

The prices keep going up, but worth it for the flavor and bouncy noodles when there's a deal on Snackpass. I'm obsessed with the Furu Tofu on knife noodles and I get it every single time with as many delicious vegetables as I can! Thanks for having superb vegan options! Pro tip: if you like spice, get the chili oil. It's incredible. read more

A++++ love this place Highly recommend addicted to scallion noodle bowl + hawthorn tea

great food, good service, this is one of my regular places to just chill and eat my food. quiet as well which is really nice

Simple, fast, and relatively healthy! We stopped by for a light and healthy lunch. Each of us ordered one mushroom and yam bing. Small, but a perfect lunch meal in preparation for a big dinner. Savory and sweet with a sauce that tasted similar to hoisin sauce (one of my favorites). We also got the iced gunpowder rose tea, which is pretty and pretty tasty. Lightly sweetened, just enough. Not a lot of seating inside, but it wasn't busy on a Sunday afternoon. read more

Cute little spot for a quick lunch. It's set up like chipotle, where you choose the type of noodles, the base sauce, protein, then various vegetable toppings. I chose the knife noodle. The texture was great. They actually cook the noodle as you order it so it's nice and hot. Noodle was not soggy. Knife noodle is thicker, which I prefer. I chose the furu sesame as my base sauce. It tastes like it had peanut butter in it. I thought the beef topping was a little gamey. It did not taste dry but it looked like it was sitting around for a bit. The cabbage, radish, and long bean topping went really well with the creamy noodles. There was limited seating so we didn't stay very long. Overall, I would return to try the other noodles and sauce. read more

I can't believe how rude their service is. Me and my 2 friends ordered 3 bowls. They're paying together in one bill, I'm paying my own. But my order took super long to come so I asked them about it. THEY FORGOT ABOUT MY ORDER AND REQUESTED ME TO SHOW MY RECEIPT. I showed my receipt and THEY BEGIN TO QUESTION MY FRIENDS' ORDER ASKING WHERE IS THEIR RECEIPT. The waiter asked in an attitude："OK, where is their receipts and where are they?"(my friend was in the bookstore next door.) I can't believe for their MISTAKE & SLOW SERVICE, they are questioning my payment??????? Btw this is a Chinese restaurant with no Chinese waiter/waitress and I'm a Chinese customer. DO NOT COME UNLESS YOU WANNA BE HUMILIATED. read more

Updated to add that --- Junzi expanded their vegan options and now have rice bowls which imo are better than the noodles (!). I also really love their drink menu is pretty nice, including the teas, which are very refreshing. My only gripe is that you can no longer get a la carte tofu, which makes me sad. read more

I'm glad I had the opportunity to come back and have another go at Junzi. I think the trick is to get the right stuff, and the staff working here were more attentive than those whom I described in my first review. I recommend the knife noodles all the way. The sesame sauce is a definite winner. If you're going for non-meat, combine the mushrooms and tofu for a winning combination. The spot is eclectic with a fun yet authentic vibe to Chinese culture and cooking. read more

This was my second time there, and I forgot how fabulous it was. We love the noodle bowls. Everything on it (especially the sesame topping). I'm pretty fond of the beef, and the dry chili paste they let get as a help-yourself condiment is pretty fantastic. Honestly, I had enough for leftovers and was so excited to eat it again that evening. We'll definitely be back. read more

Pick your noodles or wraps, pick your sauce then protein and hot and/or cold veggies Such a simplistic concept. Cooked in about 2 minutes from start to finish. This Yalie hangout is really cool the food is pretty tasty albeit my dish was under flavored . I picked the broad noodles, peanut sauce, pork, cabbage and sweet potato. It's not that it was incredible delicious, it was just tasty and quick and if you don't like seafood, there is none on the menu. It's about confusing when you first walk in but the staff is very nice and will guide you through. read more

How do you review a place like this? To sum it up, it is an Asian version of Chipotle. You choose either a noodle bowl or 1-2 Bings(wraps), then you pick, your protein, veggies, etc... But how do you judge for flavor when you choose everything that goes in what you order? Whether it comes out good, great, or disgusting depends on what you have put together. So I guess this rating is based on my experience. When a place is not busy and there are several workers standing around, you should at least acknowledge your customer. Having never been here, I guess I'll figure this process out on my own. Like what is a bing? How does this work? What are my choices? I almost walked out, but I was on my lunch break and didn't have time to go anywhere else. "So what is this sauce?" "I don't know? Do you want a taste" How do you not know what you are serving? How do you not know what goes well with what? I've never eaten here, and you can't recommend anything? There were things that I either didn't know what they were or what they tasted like. She definitely wasn't the best person to prepare people's food. @ least smile. Smile The pork was good, the chicken was a little dry. Overall I enjoyed what I got, but maybe that's because i came up with the flavor combination. I will go again if in the area, buy i definitely won't be rushing back. read more

Junzi Kitchen - Bings - Chinese Near Me - New Haven, Connecticut

We were in new haven for the morning and decided to stop in. Junzi is like a chipotle for noodles but don't let that deter you. The noodles were hot and tasty, I decided on the lions head meatballs and my mom had the chicken. Both were hot and fresh and quickly prepared. We are still talking about this place! read more

If I could describe Junzi Kitchen in a few words, it would be "Chinese Chipotle with noodles." Junzi is following in the footsteps of a couple other places in New Haven (Pitaziki- Mediterranean Chipotle and Tikkaway- Indian Chipotle) that are imitating Chipotle's fast, casual, high end cuisine with great success. At Junzi, you have a choice of noodle (knife vs spring), protein (the usual proteins plus mushroom or tofu), sauce (jaja, furu sesame, or tomato/egg), vegetables and garnish. Some ingredients may be seasonal, but all are delicious. I made my own noodle bowl with knife noodles, furu sesame sauce, beef + mushroom, and a LOT of vegetables. My bowl was huge! I will also add that the bings are delicious. I ordered the pork and wild cabbage bing, which was a tad spicy, but perfect for my palate. One bowl of noodles and a bing was plenty for me, but you could also order two bings for a pretty sizable meal (2 bings is approximately 1 smallish Chipotle burrito). My only complaint is that the edges of the bings were a bit dry, but other than that, the meal was delicious. I would certainly come here again for the price, quality, and quantity of the food. read more

Terrible restaurant. Always give you cheap braised pork when you ordered braised beef. And always miss adds on when you paid for it.

Been to Junzi a few times since they've opened. It's pretty solid, and I think the menu has benefitted from being a bit more diverse since they opened. Upping to 4 stars. read more

The portion size to price ratios here are unbalanced and downright in bad taste. If you order a bowl with grilled tofu, you get a full bowl of rice and 4-5 pieces of tofu. The chinese broccoli potion was around 3 pieces for a 'topping'. If you want to pay $15 for a bowl of rice, this is your place. For me, I probably won't return. read more

Excellent Chinese food. Quite authentic. The knife noodle is my personal favorite. I usually order takeouts but the people there seem nice.

The customer service was bad. They were borderline rude. We didnt ask a lot of questions or do anything to offend them to elicit such behaviour from them. Anyway, we quickly picked up our food to go and left with a very bad impression. I was going to rate them poorly but then I tasted the food. It was a literal flavor explosion. Such amazing flavors for ingredients served cold or at room temperature. Extremely impressed by the food!! If only the service was better read more

This place is the great. Very tasty food. I always went with my whole family. But today was the last straw? The person who attended us gave us a terrible service, she ignored us for a good moment then he served the noodles and instead of asking us what we wanted she left the noddles there and they went cold Then I asked her about some vegetables she had just taken off the grill. And and she answered me that no, that I had to use the ones that were on the line, which were ones that were very dry. it's shame that A place like this has a this kind of people who don't want to work. I hope you take this into account because it really is a good place and the food is very tasty, when it is served they do it with enthusiasm. read more

Kind of like chipotle but asian. Their late night food specials are amazing. I mostly come for that food. The food has a super strong smell. I've been here many times and will continue to come here. I think the bings are a little overpriced but I would recommend building your own bowl. read more

I just had this place for lunch and it was just ok. Everything was under seasoned and they go pretty light on the sauce and toppings. It's not particularily flavorful, but it's not awful. One thing that weirded me out is that the noodles were stuck together in a large clump, so don't believe they were tossed or cooked with the sauce. Just kind of meh. read more

As a student living on campus, Junzi is probably my most frequented restaurant. Take out is always super quick, and the menu has plenty of variety (they've added more items besides noodles + bings recently) so it never gets tiring. Quality is pretty consistent, so it's a reliable fast-casual option. And the food itself is solid! When it's available, I highly recommend going for the Late Night menu, which (in my opinion) is even better than their usual menu (especially the bings)! read more

What a clever concept for a fast Asian food joint. I've been to others like this but this one has a fun and modern interior, the staff are friendly and they combine both east and west cuisine. We tried the wrap and noodle in various protein, vegetables and sauces and they were all surprisingly tasty. I especially like how they prepare the mushrooms. It has an intense flavour and compliments the noodles well and I didn't miss having no meat in my bowl. read more

Really love the idea of this restaurant, providing asian inspired cuisine that's fast casual and healthy. I loved the entire selection of foods and wish I could try everything. The reason why I deducted one star is because I got the sesame sauce but felt like I couldn't really taste it. The knife noodles have a great texture and the beef is really richly flavored. Overall great deal for the price, you can't go wrong here! Their jasmine tea is also so good and has just the right amount of sweetness. read more

I'm generally a fan of Junzi's noodle dishes and have been here many times. Today I decided to try the Mandarin Chicken Salad - don't. It's a few pieces of chicken, a tablepoon of canned mandarin oranges, some cabbage and few dry noodles on a HUGE bed of lettuce. And today they didn't have any dressing, so I paid $13 for the above. Below par, and very disappointing. Stick with the noodle dishes. This salad is a complete rip-off. read more

I picked up 2 orders for delivery here today, and when I asked to use the bathroom I was told "no, we only let customers use the bathroom." Like I was some dude who just walked in off the street. Maybe the food is good but I'll never know because of the jerk that works there. read more

Junzi opened during my freshman year, and I'm so happy how much the brand has grown since then (beyond New Haven, they have locations at Columbia University, Greenwich Village, and an upcoming one at Bryant Park). I met the chef, Lucas Sin, at an AACC fried rice cooking class, and he's an incredibly talented and humble guy. Junzi serves northern Chinese-style bings and noodle bowls, and the After Hours menu on Friday-Saturday late nights featuring mala noodles, rice bowls, and scallion bings. Service is extremely efficient. You place your order of either bing(s) or noodle bowl, choice of protein, sides, and sauce. I get a bing if I'm in a rush, but the noodle bowl is always my go-to choice. My humble order is usually knife noodles in tomato-egg sauce, beef, bean sprouts, literally almost all of the side-dishes (favorites include daikon, seasonal long beans, chive ash, shrimp salt), and garlic chili. Be sure to mix up your bowl before eating! I'm a fan of the interior minimalistic design with white walls featuring sketches of food and wooden furniture. It's a very small store, though, and it can probably seat less than a dozen people if completely full. The only minor complaint that I have with Junzi is the price. I'm a bit spoiled, since in hindsight their opening year prices were ridiculously cheap, but they are still at a premium compared to other fast-casual restaurants. Nonetheless, that doesn't deter me from coming to Junzi and regularly ordering something to eat! If you're a really dedicated eater, they also offer Junzi Dining Passes and frequent social media contests for Noodle Combo Cards. Lastly, I haven't had their After Hours menu in a long time. When Lucas used to live in New Haven, he came up with a rotational menu, and some of my favorites aren't featured on the standardized one anymore. The scallion bings would be my current favorite choice, though! It's cooked with runny egg, pickled daikon, cilantro, and sweet chili sauce. read more
