One would think there's not much you can do with a grilled cheese sandwich, but the Grilled Cheese Gallery proves that assumption wrong. There are 13 amazing and creative choices of grilled cheese here. Don't like grilled cheese? They also serve salads, poutine, mac & cheese grilled sandwiches, ice cream and other desserts. This is Comfort Food headquarters! There were actually so many choices it was hard to choose. I chose A Night in Amsterdam: Gouda, Gruyere, Swiss, Cheddar, on Artisan White. My wife had The Queen Brie: House cured bacon, French Brie, Raspberry Puree, Balsamic on Sourdough. My Amsterdam was quite a creation: three slices balanced on a pedestal with cheese trailing down more than a foot. It was delicious! My wife lauded her Queen Brie as well. We wish we had more time in Saint Augustine as this place is definitely worth a second visit.

We ordered: the Amsterdam, the Artist, the Queen Brie, and the Classic (2 sandwiches). Three of us upgraded to a small cup of tomato soup (each order comes with a mini cup for dipping). I was the lucky person who ordered the Amsterdam, which, much to our surprise and delight, was served on a hook with melted cheese stretching down to the tray it was served on. Everyone had to take a photo of my sandwich! It contained a variety of cheeses, so while the taste was fairly classic, it was a bit more nuanced than the Classic sandwich, which only had cheddar cheese. Everyone else thought their sandwiches were delicious too. And we all loved the homemade tomato soup! I tend to be a bigger fan of creamy tomato soups, but this one was rich with umami flavor and had a bit of a kick. While this is a counter-service restaurant that's pretty much no-frills, the employees were friendly and helpful. One of them refilled our water cups at the table, even though the pitcher she had was leaking, and I didn't get the sense that they normally did that. Sadly, they don't sell soft serve ice cream any more, but there are so many ice cream shops in this part of St. Augustine that you can easily walk somewhere else for dessert (which we did). The place wasn't crowded on a Friday evening and had lots of menu choices, so if you like grilled cheese sandwiches, whether creative or simple, be sure to stop by the Grilled Cheese Gallery on your visit to St. Augustine!

This place should be called attitude cafe. Barista and other employees were rude and seemed miserable. The self serve coffee ran out and they were seriously annoyed when we asked for a full cup. The food is expensive and bland. Avocado toast was a barely toasted piece of bread with large brown chunks of avocado and a tiny bit of cheese. The breakfast sandwich was tiny. We really enjoyed this shop! The sandwiches are fresh and tasty and the chai tea was amazing! The service was quick and the cashier was friendly. I came into the parking lot with the intention to walk over but something pulled me in. A quiet shop with free parking and few patrons inside off of king street? I had to be the first to try. I ordered french toast and a dirty chai that both came with a generous amount of sweet sugary and cinnamon goodness. After devouring my breakfast-dessert, I wanted to try something savory: a scrambled with home fries and corn beef hash. Make no mistake, I was already full, but that bowl topped it off perfectly. Leaving me so satiated all I could do was enjoy the music, the other customers and my chai. A successful morning made by supporting a small business with accessible parking. Go here.
