I like this place. It did have a rough start from a service perspective, but I think they have finally hit thier own stride. The cocktails are bang on, and the food is inventive and well made. We came here late one night and were seated right away. Service was prompt the entire time. I ordered a watermelon cocktail, which was light and even more lightly sweetened, which I enjoyed. We ordered the truffle fries, light on the parmesean and the vietnamese wing. The truffle fries came out soggy but we enjoyed the taste so we ordered another order and asked them if they could make sure it wasn't soggy this time. The music was cranked up so high, I thought perhaps I mistakenly walked into an EDM rave. My date and I couldn't hear ourselves talk at all and left before even finishing our first drinks. I looked around -- here were grown adults trying to have conversations but for some reason, management thinks that by blasting loud music, that is something we would want. We don't. Although I asked to have a table more inside the receptionist claimed that no table was available and located us by the entrance. I can literally count how many people were there and I saw there were so many tables insides. I requested again that I prefer not sitting by the entrance. Then the receptionist arranged us to the table next to the order window. Is it this hard to understand that a customer wants to have a quiet environment? There are so many tables available and the receptionist only gave me the options that I least want. I left with a 17%tip because the waitress was really nice. I write this being tremendously grateful for how accommodating Junpier was for our party. We had made reservations on a Saturday for dinner here before continuing with our bachelorette party. Since we were a big group, we took a limo to the city and got stuck in major/heavy traffic due to an accident. We called while still stuck in traffic to ask if we could come in a bit later and they really were able to pull the strings. Major kudos for that. They were also quick with the service for such a large group, and as our night was already running an hour later than planned, it was super helpful. I ordered the chipotle burger. It was perfectly cooked but I did expect it to be a bit spicier. Maybe next time i'll try the super spicy burger they have on the menu. I can't recall the name but it had it's on warning. I didn't want to spring for it in case it was too spicy and made me sick or, it was too spicy for me to eat and i would be drinking on an empty stomach. read more

She really worked to accommodate us and I wish we had gotten her name. We sat at a 2 person high top, very uncomfortable. The stools have no backs. Its winter in NY so, where do you put your coat? We ended up sitting on our coats. We each ordered cocktails. My bf was thrilled with his. He ordered an Old Fashion and they had Blantons on the bar. I cant remember what my drink was called but it was good. We ordered calamari, the cheesesteak spring rolls and a short rib grilled cheese w truffle fries. The calamari was very bland. It wasnt awful or chewy, which is good. It just didnt taste like anything w/o the sauce and Im not really a sauce person. The spring rolls were also - bland. We ate that and we waited. After a while we asked about the grilled cheese and fries. Our server had forgotten to put them in. She was very apologetic and offered to rush them but we had plans so we declined. Would I go back. Juniper is a pretty cool bar, it's kinda like other Irish pubs in the area but has a more refined look to it. The burger they have is similar to others found in the area but again, just a slight edge. Now the place itself was superb, clean, open, great decor. The staff was welcoming and efficient. The bartender chose the burger for me (big plus when someone working there actually suggests what's good). 4/5 because of price. 20.00 for a burger and fries. 25% - 5.00 more than others around. That slight edge, isn't really worth the money. That being said, I didn't regret it. Maybe if it was bigger, or had more fries, something to merit the price, I would've gave it a 5/5. This is a great bar in the Penn Station area. They have good happy hour specials and it's a chill vibe. I had a group of about 20 people and they were very accommodating. Cool place right by Penn Station - well lit and VERY CLEAN, lots of friendly and engaged team members. Upon entry one sees the bar to the right, high top tables on the left, and there is also a seating area for dining in the rear, all hovered by high ceilings and nice white tiled treatments. The bar at this location is LONG, so happy hour must get to be crazy busy. We arrived around 4:45 and there were zero bar seats available, so I have to say I'm impressed with that! Beers were fresh and cold, wine was a generous pour. Next time we will need to stay for food, as our visit was only for two rounds in order to catch a train. If you're looking for a meeting place for friends and family in midtown I suggest this spot. Theres plenty of standing room in between the bar and the high tops, so bring and army!! read more

There happy hour is reserved to gin that can be mixed with any type of soda or juice and a variety of wines. I was vacationing here in NYC, wanted something to pregame before Bruno Mars Concert and Found this place on yelp!!! Of course, wasn't surprised by the stars they received. It's an awesome upbeat atmosphere with good food and great service. Came here because of happy hour specials and near Madison Square Garden. Really loved the music they played, very hip and makes you just want to stay. The steak tacos could have been better, it wasn't that great. The Philly cheesesteaks was awesome and tasty. Juniper bar/ restaurant is a pretty solid place for drinks. I came in on a Tuesday evening at 4pm. The person I was with made reservations 3 days in advance. When we arrived the staff had already known who we were. It was kinda funny. The hostess sat us in a reserved area in the back. The drinks and appetizers were amazing. My dinner was very disappointing. Once the hostess brought us to the back. our waiter came over. We had dinner here but... We started with 2 Stella's and some appetizers. We had the bacon Mac and cheese spring rolls which were very good. Not dried out and the bacon inside was still Crispy. Then we got the pick any 3 sliders. You had a choice between mini burgers. Mini crab cakes. Or mini shrimp sliders. You could mix and match any 3. We got 2 crab cake sliders and 1 shrimp sliders. The crab cake was kinda bland. The shrimp slider had a ton of flavor and I was impressed with the shrimp. I wish I had ordered 3 shrimp sliders! We ran into someone we knew who bought us a beer. Kinda cool. For our dinner and main meal. We saw on the menu they had a Mac and cheese burger $19 it looked to be a special on there list. So me and the person I was with ordered the Mac and cheese burger. I ordered mine medium. The person I was with ordered it well done. When the burger came I was not impressed. The presentation looked good but that was the only thing. they were both very well done. The burger it self was dry. The Mac and cheese was good. But the bun was gross. It was charred. Almost like the bread had been sitting awhile. The person I was with said the burger was not good at all. I ended up only eating half. And I took the bread off cause it was nasty. I will say the fries were very good and crispy. If you read my reviews regularly you know. I very rarely complain or say negative things For $19 dollars the burger sucked. I'm not going to lie. I eat all over the city. A McDonald's burger had more flavor. I usually never complain. I ended up telling the waitress about the burger very quietly. I know non of the food is her fault. She felt soo bad she ended up taking 2 beers off the tab to compensate for the nasty burgers. I told her she didn't have to take the beers off. The beers were -14 dollars. So I just have her $14 cash Because she did the right thing! I don't mind paying for the food but I just wanted them to know it was not a good burger and for $19 I def was not impressed. Overall. In my party of 3 we ordered the kale & beet salad, the grilled chicken sandwich and the braised short rib. The kale and beet salad came to be sans beets. The grilled chicken sandwich was inedible. And the braised short ribs were good. The biggest disappointment was the grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken seemed to be a microwaved patty that was flavorless and EXCEEDINGLY dry. Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat during happy hour before heading to the Rangers game. I was able to make a reservation the day before and we were seated when we arrived at 5:15pm. After perusing the menu, I decided to go with the Hawaiian burger, one of their daily specials. The burger itself was cooked well, I was just really underwhelmed by the lack of flavor. I was also a little confused by the ingredients as it contained mozzarella cheese, a pineapple, and prosciutto--not a combination that really paired with the beef that well. Also, the pineapple was a bit tough--like it had been from a can, rather than freshly cut. Nonetheless, it was a decent size and I was happy that they allowed me to sub out my fries for sautéed spinach, which was decent. Overall, this place serves up some decent food at a reasonable price and is one of your best bets around MSG, however it is not on par with many other spots around the city. read more
