Delicious cake and very friendly staff, I'll be coming back soon! My work is nearby and had to pick up a last-minute birthday cake, and I didn't want to pick up a cake at a grocery store, so I called Joyce Bakery to see if there were any 8-inch cakes available for same-day purchase. I was worried since it appeared they typically do advanced orders, but the gentleman who answered was very friendly and professional and told me to stop by. I ended up getting the 8-inch chocolate cake with fresh strawberries. The cake was delicious, moist, and not too sweet. Everyone in the office also complimented on how delicious the cake was. I'm excited to have found a small business that not only makes delicious cakes, but was also so friendly and kind.

We surprised my cousin with this strawberry cake he loved the taste too it was delicious.

Beautiful cakes here always and vary delicious. I am never disappointed and they are not overly sweet too. The workers and owner are sweet good people too.

This is my go to spot for when I need to get edible images printed for my own personal pastries! they charge $5 for half sheets and $10 for a full sheet! just format your photo or pdf however you'd like and send to their email :) they are super nice and helpful every time!

I have been getting my girls birthday cakes from here since I moved to Norwalk about 4 years ago. Their cakes taste good, they look good and they're priced good. I've only ever gotten sheet cakes because it's more reasonable to feed 60 + people. And I always get compliments on the taste - spongey cake with fresh strawberry filling is our go to. They are so accommodating in their designs and they will help your vision come to life.

Was very happy with the order I placed here. I emailed them an inspo picture of what i needed including all other details and they were able to give me options on how I wanted with the different pricing. The cake was fresh, moist and delicious. They delivered exactly how I asked. Very pleased! Only downside for me is you need to physically go in to make a deposit (No Zelle, No Apple Pay, etc.) and it cannot be done so over the phone (I live in Riverside).

Never disappoints. Not only are the cakes delicious, but they're also beautifully made. I've been ordering from them for years, and they will always be my go-to bakery for every occasion!

Nothing but rave reviews for Joyce as they came through for a custom gender reveal cake order a day before. They were extremely friendly and communicative when discussing my options over the phone. I ordered a one tier round cake with strawberry and banana in between plain cake, with a naked exterior with gold. They even placed the decorations for me the day of.

I've been driving to Chinatown for cakes for decades. My co worker found this place on yelp, and we took a chance. We ordered a vanilla cake w fresh strawberries in the center and whipped cream. Omg!!!!!! That cake bread is tooo diiiiiieee forrr!!! Soooo soft, spongy, and flavorful. The whipped cream was delicious as well. And the service was on point. The gentleman assisted with adding a picture to the cake and it came out looking magnificent. Prices are also very fair. Do not sleep on this bakery!! read more

For the affordable price they charged me, i was pleasantly surprised by the finish product considering i gave them several pictures to put together vs picture of the whole cake to copy. Superrrrr disappointed. I regret coming here to order a custom cake for my daughter's birthday. I decided to try this place because of the pictures and reviews, but those can't be trusted. Like other reviews said, they charge way less than other bakeries, but you definitely get what you pay for. I paid extra to get my daughter's name in fondant. The owner ensured me it would be in cursive and would look like the picture. SUPER sloppy work, it's laughable. Do NOT recommend and won't be returning. read more

If you are looking for delicious custom cakes at a great price then Joyce Bakery is the place to go. Joyce Bakery is located in a strip mall with plenty of free parking so no need to worry. I have been here a few times for my son's birthdays. For his 18th birthday they made a Goyard duffle bag cake which was plenty for his party. This past year we didn't get to have a party because of Covid. We just got a small Gucci gift box cake for our family. They make it easy, just go in tell them what you are looking for and send them pictures via email and they will make it happen. I will continue to get my cakes from Joyce Bakery! read more

This is THE place. My boyfriend and I came to order our goddaughter's first birthday cake and they did not disappoint. The cake tasted amazing and fresh!! We have tasted so many cakes that don't taste as fresh but this cake tasted like it was made that morning. We ordered with a man and he was so helpful with flavors and when we picked up, it was a female. She helped get it into the car. We officially found our families bakery. Long overdue review from April 2019!!! We read a lot of the Yelp reviews and narrowed down our bakery choices to a few. After visiting several of them, we decided to go to Joyce bakery and were glad we picked them! My daughter wanted a cosmic birthday cake and we showed them pictures of ideas we found online. They were confident they could replicate the essential elements and they did not disappoint! My daughter was thrilled! Found this place on yelp and decided to try it out for my daughter's 2nd birthday cake. They exceeded my expectations I was honestly quite surprised how awesome it came out because usually hot wheels are for boys and I only had a picture of a cake for boys but explained it was for a girl and my vision along with the colors I wanted. When I got home my 3 year old son stuck his fingers in it but with a little addition it still looked great! I will be going back for all future cakes! Just an idea, this cake was $80 but very much worth it! There was about 3 layers in this one, the man who made the cake said usually feeds 8-10 people but we only cut half the cake and fed about 12 people! read more

I never write reviews but i just had to for this cake! I was looking everywhere for a place that would make a custom cake ready in a weeks time which is almost an impossible request, but this place did it! The service was amazing and made buying and ordering the cake easy despite never ordering from this place before. Not only were the cakes beautiful (ESPECIALLY the custom bag) but they tasted AMAZING. The big cake was red velvet while the bag cake was coffee and both were equally as delicious. A staple in Norwalk for over 30 years. I used to come here all the time as a kid and gawk at the little figures and ornately-crafted cakes. It tastes just as good as it looks as well. I personally like my cakes filled with durian or taro. I saw this cake at the store this summer and took a picture. It looks absolutely stunning. The atmosphere is clean and simple. Owners are quite friendly. I've recommended this to a few friends already. Definitely recommend checking out if you're around the area! read more

My family has been getting our birthday cakes from this bakery as far back as I can remember. I recently got married- we wanted something small and simple and just did a backyard wedding. When it came to the cake I preferred flavor over design and I remembered all the wonderful birthday cakes I had throughout the years and decided to order a cake from Joyce. My new "go-to" bakery for all Our cake needs. Their cakes are super moist and frosting is not too sweet. Usually I scrape off the frosting when I eat my cakes because guaranteed it would be sweet, but Joyce's cake I EAT THE WHOLE THING. They did an awesome job for my daughters birthday. Updated 1 year later - I've gotten about 10 more cakes within the last year (including wedding cake). They do not disappoint! read more

This place doesn't look like much on the inside or outside, but it makes some great looking cakes at an affordable price. I knew about this place for four years but I was hesitant to try it because the place looks so bare and boring. I also wasn't sure how the cakes would taste since they didn't have any smaller sizes I can buy for sampling purpose. For these reasons I've been going to Candle Light Bakery for the past four years. However, Candle Light's prices were getting kind of high, and I wasn't too impressed with their custom cake designs, which is why I decided to switch it up this year. I ordered an 8-inch round cake with a picture of Lightning McQueen for my daughter's fifth birthday, and it turned out pretty well. I just gave them a picture I wanted and they printed an edible picture and put it on top of the cake. I thought I would need to place my order way in advance but they told me a simple picture design can be done with just one or two day notice. They just need early notice for fondant cakes. For the cake itself I got 3 Milk (tres leches) with fresh strawberry filling. It wasn't the best tasting tres leches I had, but it was still good. Service was ok. They got the job done on time but weren't very friendly. They didn't even let me take an order sheet home when I initially came to inquire about a cake. They let me take a picture of the order sheet but didn't want to give me one unless I was actually going to order with them. I guess this is one of their ways of keeping cost down. read more

I was looking for a bakery for my aunt's 50th bday. So the cake is a big deal! I came in, gave them the photo 3 weeks in advance and J did not disappoint! We got 2 flavors: red velvet and cookies n cream. The cake is the exact replica of what my aunt wanted for her birthday! They brought their "A" game. The birthday celebrant and everyone loved the cake! As for the price, definitely cheaper than what candlelight bakery was offering ($800+ for the 3 tiers, and almost $400 for the 2 tiers) and all other bakeries in the area! Thank you Joyce bakery! Bonus points for having the same name ;) Miriam made great detailed questions to make sure the cake was exactly what I wanted it to be referencing off a picture I had showed her as inspiration. From size all the way down to the smallest details, Miriam disclosed information about how certain designs or details I wanted would change the presentation of the cake, and made sure I was delightlfuly satisfied with what would be the result. She broke down every last detail including how the icing would likely stain our mouths and very nicely reassured me that it would rise right off with water swishes. Overall I was incredibly satisfied with the service I was given, and I greatly appreciate how Miriam thought about every question in order to complete my desired vision.

Coming in at 5pm, I was able to get three mochi donuts for $5, and a malasada for $1.29. It's reasonable at full price, but it's a steal at happy hour!

I recently needed a custom cake for an event and came across Joyce Bakery on Yelp. Deciding to give them a try, I visited the bakery without a specific design in mind. The staff was kind enough to let me browse their catalog for inspiration. Although the final cake wasn't an exact match to the one in the catalog, particularly in terms of design and color (design was supposed to be gold, came out as yellow instead), it was close enough. It was a chocolate cake but it lacked the chocolate flavor. The cake's texture was fluffy, but I found it dry. However, I appreciated that the frosting wasn't overly sweet. Their service was commendable--the cake was ready on time, and I had placed the order weeks in advance. The pricing was also reasonable for the customization provided. My only disappointment was the lack of a large box for the cake. I had to transport it in an open box, which didn't seem like the best option. My sister ordered a cake for my other sister's 50th bday. I won't lie the cakes are done nicely and most of the time they are good or decent. My whole family ate this cake last night and within a few hours everyone started with nausea and diarrhea some with vomit including my 75 year old mother. My sister that ordered the cake call the bakery this morning to let them know about 10 people got sick from the cake and the bakery swore it was not the cake and they were not going to refund for the cake ,because they made about 30 cakes that day and no one else called complaining of food poisoning. My brother claims that the frosting was really sour so Mr. Baker there's your answer recheck your product for expiration dates. Make it right, offer a discount or a refund for ppl missing work today. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but my experience at Joyce Bakery was beyond disappointing. The staff is not friendly at all -- no greeting, no smiles, just an attitude that makes you feel like you're inconveniencing them by even walking in. The vibe is unprofessional from the start. And let's talk about the prices... custom cakes start at $175 and up. For those prices, you'd expect top-notch service and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, but you get the exact opposite. There are plenty of other bakeries that offer beautiful cakes and treat their customers with kindness and respect. I won't be coming back. read more
