This place accommodated me with my kids birthday cake. I placed it on Thursday for Saturday pick up. I would rate them 3.5-4 stars. I showed her the design, sent my file of the books image I wanted. Together we figured it would be best to design it a certain way, which was a wrap of the books and plain on the top with the number 13. She was very accommodating and said they can make it. At the end we had a cake with minor problems. The book design at the top was not even and one side didn't completely reach. Like it was rushed but overall it was okay. It had the main theme "The Summer I turned Pretty" and my daughter's favorite books on the side. The 3 on thirteen don't really look like a 3, but it worked. I paid $180 for the cake please make it look complete. As far as the taste, the fresh strawberries on white cake tasted great. The fondant was a printed piece. Last Saturday I picked up a Cake from Joyce Bakery and Michelle carefully placed the cake in my truck. She reminded me to drive slowly and carefully. I got to the park safe and sound. Shortly after my son tried getting his sweater and smeared the face of the cake. Needless to say I wasn't happy and the graduates were in disbelief. Ordered a 1/2 sheet cake, everyone was super nice and helpful. I chose a chocolate flavored cake with chocolate fillings. I had doubts because I thought it would be too sweet, but this cake was perfectly balanced. Fluffy, moist, semi-sweet, and you don't get that chalky feeling of overdosing on chocolate lol. Unfortunately our most recent experience was complete opposite of the 1st... We ordered a baby shark cake for our daughter's birthday over the phone. We live an hour away, so it's not convenient to drive there to place an order in person. I sent an email with my request & asked for a call back so I could confirm details. Never received a call so I called to follow up & that's when I placed my order over the phone. We discussed my email & pic of the cake, & confirmed marble cake with banana filling. When we picked up the cake it was beautiful as expected! However when we cut into it- it was strawberry filling (not what i ordered) & the cake was extremely dry :( no one liked it, not even the kids! We ended up throwing away the cake. Super embarrassing.. so I emailed the bakery explaining the situation, again no call, I had to call to follow up. I literally just asked for our deposit back. Not the entire amount. I understand the time it takes to make these custom cakes & it was probably just a simple mistake when taking the order, as far as the dryness, not sure. But either way, they refused my request because the order wasn't placed in person. I never got a confirmation email after the phone order either, which if I had, I would have probably caught the filling error. Not sure what's changed with Joyce Bakery, but their skills are definitely off. This was my 4th order and what I ordered versus what I received was very different. The picture I provided is not the same as the cake my husband picked up. I emailed the bakery about this issue and received no response. This was a $75 cake for my SIL that looked like it was for a child. Customer service is a big part of returning business. And since I received no response in an attempt to remediate the issue, I will no longer be a returning customer. read more

Amazingly priced custom cakes!! Was super excited and satisfied with a quarter sheet football cake (see picture), for $33. Requested taro for the cake with custard filling, and it was DELICIOUS. Also ordered an 8" round superhero cake, with marble cake and strawberry filling for $23. It was good but we liked the taro/custard cake much better. The only thing for both cakes was that the colored frosting had strong dyes in them and our fingers would stain for a while if they came into contact with the frosting during cutting/eating. Parking is super easy, big shared strip mall lot. The only other thing with the shop is it's actually rather popular and it's run by just the couple. So if they're busy with someone customizing a cake in front of you, expect a wait of about 15 mins. I had no issues with timing as I called in the orders 2+ weeks in advance. The marble cake wasn't quite ready when I went to pick up but that's bc I changed the time on them so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that had it not changed, it would've been on time.
