Highly recommend this bakery! We just ordered a cake from this bakery for my son's 2d birthday. They had many designed to pick from, all sizes, styles, and filling options too. The cake is perfectly sweet. Not too sweet, and not dull/plain. You don't feel heavy after their cake either. It's very light. You can tell the fruit is fresh as well. Note: the main baker operates best face-to-face when placing your order. He likes to talk through your design with you, give you ideas and help you along. He will only take your order and talk about your design in person. And payments can only be made in person as well. Definitely an old school approach but we'll worth it! Needed a cake for same day and couldn't find a bakery that had cakes ready. My Uncle referred me to Magic Wok in Pico Rivera. I called and the owner told me he had two fresh cakes ready for the day for me to pick up, I chose strawberry banana crème vanilla cake. I asked him if he could decorate it with Halloween colors and he said "no problem". I was waiting on a delivery for a cake topper so I opted for no design on the top of the cake. I picked up an hour later, it was very reasonably priced and the cake ended up being delicious. I had 9 people over and we still had lots of extra cake left. The shop is easy to miss, it sits next to a chinese food restaurant and phone store in a shopping center. The owner has been in business for 30 years and exclusively makes cakes. Absolutely fabulous! If you're in need of a last minute cake that tastes fantastic, this is your place! Cakes are soft, spongy light, with your choice of fillings, with a whipped cream frosting. And the frosting isn't too sweet. This is an elderly husband and wife operation. They won't do Food Network looking cakes so if you're looking for something like that, go elsewhere. Their pipping skills are great and they will do their best to accommodate you and even look up and print an edible image and put it on your cake. You can also hand them a thumb drive and they'll print a photo. They have an array of candles and cake toppers on their walls that are available for purchase. It is cluttered in their little shop but don't be alarmed. I would advise you to visit the shop is you need a specific theme. I ordered a cake at 11am and was able to pick it up at 4pm. read more

BEWARE!!!!!! You get catfished. Service: not great, he can't take constructive criticism. We told him hey this is not what we ordered we gave him an inspo photo and this is what we got. BEWARE. I've been buying my cakes from here for 20 years. The cakes are always delicious. They didn't use fondant it was buttercream. It sliced right through, and it was so moist almost fell apart. They put fresh strawberries and bananas inside. I almost went to the market and ordered it but, I'm glad I came here. I've purchased two separate cakes from here and they both have exceeded my expectations! The first cake was for a space themed birthday and the second cake was for a Hungry Caterpillar themed birthday. We received so many compliments on how well made and cute they were. First time I came it was great. Cake was good and so pretty. Next time I went in, I saw roaches and walked out. I didn't give them my business for a 5+ years. But I finally went back to see if they can do my daughter's 1st birthday cake and the place was just messy, dusty, and they were not so accommodating. I wanted to see if it was possible to do an egg-less cake since my daughter is allergic and I was just told "we don't do that here" so I just had to walk right out. Don't think I'd be coming back. Discovered this little gem in Pico Rivera. This little store is owned by a husband and wife who have been here for many years. The store front isn't the nicest but didn't judge. There is nothing that they can't do with cakes and they do it well. You show them a picture and let them know what your budget is and they make it happen. They are innovative and creative with their ideas and value each one of their customers no matter how much you spend. My daughter wanted a chocolate chanel cake for her 18th birthday. Other places cost a small fortune because of thr detail and time it takes. This place was half the price and the cake was beautiful and soooooo good. Let's start with the details on the outside of the cake. The cake looked like it was covered in fondant but it was icing (not too sweet) and the piping looked liked buttons had been placed on the cake. Now for the good stuff. This was a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. Oh my word! The cake was moist and not too rich. The mousse paired well with the cake. It was divine! Then I do a search on my Yelp and found a bakery called Butter Lab not far from Amy's Bakery, we decided to go to Butter Lab. I made a completely spontaneous stop here to pick up a cake as a surprise for a coworker, and I couldn't have been more impressed. Despite my last-minute request, the gentleman working went above and beyond, offering me the only cake he had available. His kindness and willingness to help on such short notice truly stood out. It's clear that he takes great pride in managing the store, as his professionalism and customer service were exceptional. I paid $40 for a smash cake, where as Amy's Pastry charges $16 but they add fees for every little thing such as fruit, colored frosting, etc. Plus, they are limited on cake flavors & fillings.
