I found them through yelp and they were near my work. After several quotes from different places in different cities, they quoted me the lowest for the design I wanted. I didn't want it too pricey a nice it was only my sons 1/2 birthday that I just wanted photos for. It was very easy to email and respond very quickly about 24 hour mark. I showed her the cakes design I want since it's a bit simple without any characters. It was half a 6 inch cake with stars, cloud and name banner. I opted for marble cake and whipped strawberry filling. To book it you have to put it 50% deposit and it's non refundable. It was kinda fifty/fifty with how my parents and inlaw thought about the cake. (FYI, chinese Asian parents hate too much sweets.) My mom loves the marble cake and my in-laws thought it was too sweet. I really thought they both would say it wasn't good since it's too sweet. I did take off the outer layer and did not eat the fondant since it is thick. For me, I think the cake was okay, could be a bit more moist and have more filling. The filing is very thin and I barely taste strawberry flavor. Overall the decoration on the cake was spot on for me and I loved it! The cake was okay to me. The decoration (5/5) and the cake (3.7/5). I used Pin Up Cakes for my wedding and loved how my cake turned out! Everything was done online and was super easy. I sent them inspiration pictures of what I wanted and for how many people. I wanted a smaller cake for just me, my husband and our wedding party as we were doing sheet cake for the guests. After sending the pictures, they gave me different options and broke it down by how much each would cost. I loved that they did that! Since I wanted a 2 tier cake, but it was only for 12 people, they gave me the option to make the top tier out of styrofoam to cut costs! They also gave me options on if I wanted them to make flowers out of fondant, or I could bring them flowers and they would put it on, or I could have my florist do it at the venue. It wasn't easy finding a bakery to make 150 wrapped cake pops for our wedding but I'm so fortunate to have found Pin Up Cakes! Prior to ordering the 150 cake pops, I ordered one of each flavor to try them out. They had: strawberry, vanilla, cookies and cream, red velvet, chocolate, and banana. When we got it, we thought the cake pops looked gorgeous and very professionally done. They made them lavender to fit my wedding color and did 3 different designs. The cake pops were so moist and delicious. It was very hard to narrow it down to a few flavors but we went with vanilla, cookies and cream, and strawberry. The strawberry flavored cake pop was my favorite! They made it easy for us to pick it up the day before and we got a lot of positive feedback about how beautiful and delicious the cake pops were! We went with a simple design, so it came out to about $2.25 per pop. They also do more extravagant and creative designs - based on characters and things like that - which looks amazing but of course will be more costly. I would come back for future cakes! read more

My family and I have purchased multiple cakes here for different occasions. Beware, you get for what you pay for here. If you want the over the top and decorated cake, it's going to cost you. If you want something basic with a little more, it's still going to cost you. We've had some pretty nice cakes here that have been on the higher end and some basic cakes that have been a little more than it should. Price varies here based on what you want and the design. Everything is made with foundant, which means lots and lots of thick sugar layer. It's edible but overwhelming. The first cake we got here was super cute, but there was just so much sugar we didn't really eat. I've tried getting a cake with minimal designs and was super disappointed and what I paid for what they made me. From there, we started doing basic cakes with like a picture overlay because the cakes were just getting pricey. Cake flavors are okay. I can't say that I am a fan, but my family does. I was extremely excited to have a custom cake created for a milestone stone birthday for my boyfriend, until Pin Up Cakes ruined my experience. They have extremely limited work hours, never answer the phone, voice mail box is full even if you tried, only in their "store front" on Saturday's. Communication is not their strong point and provide terrible customer service. After emailing back and forth for 2 weeks trying to get answers (that could've been handled in one 10 min phone call). I wanted to pay over the phone or in person, they only offered via email which i did not feel comfortable with. They told me on a Saturday we are closed on Sunday's and Monday's so i must pay by tuesday. On Monday I emailed them that I will come in on Tuesday and pay. They responded Tuesday morning"were only open on Saturday if you have to pay today." I was really surprised that the two owners thought that their mini cupcakes were acceptable like this. Most of the vanilla ones were not even round (please see pictures). I was looking everywhere in LA to do a custom cake of Mickey Mouse and so many places either said they were booked for the rest of the month or told me it was going to be $350. I found on Instagram another place but unfortunately they said they were booked but recommended this custom cake place, Pinup cakes. I messaged the girl and she said that they could do the cake for $105. Still way too pricey but I thought it is a detailed cake. So I went through with the deposit of $55 and then paid $50 when I got there. When I first looked at the cake I was blown away! Then as I noticed the fondant was cracking in the back already, the ears in the back were also cracking in the back and had white powder on it. I was still like "you know what it's perfect for the price" Later that evening I did what the baker told me to which was take the cake out 2 hours prior to serving. It was easy to cut and my friend loved it BUT! The cake was like eating pounds of sugar in one bite and I'm not even exaggerating. I don't know if they did that accidentally but it was horrible. Chocolate cake should have a bit more of a chocolate side but it was like they add brown syrup to a vanilla cake and added more sugar. It also had a chocolate layer of frosting or some chocolate filling in between and then all of a sudden you get these chocolate pieces. It was one of the worst tasting cakes you could ever imagine. Guests did not even finish their cake slice because it was way too sweet and most of it went in the trash. I felt embarrassed of that cake. I cannot give it one star because it was just too damn cute of a cake, BUT I will give it two because the taste alone was just bad. read more
