Delicious but pricey. We came in on a random Monday afternoon in December and it was entirely empty except for us. The servers were very attentive, and the food came out decently quickly. I was very impressed with the nigiri because I was surprised to find fresh fish this far inland! The ambience was so nice, the sun getting lower in the sky, with snow lining the sidewalks just outside the windows. It was nice to sit and admire the scenery after our meal while we finished our hot tea. One thing I will say is that it's quite expensive. I definitely think it's worth a try though, especially if you like nigiri, but it's not necessarily a "stumble in on a random Monday" type of place. That being said, we will definitely be back next time we are in town!

Came here for dinner after skiing; it was right next to our hotel - DoubleTree by Hilton. We absolutely loved the food, ordered a few things to share. Miso soup, seaweed salad, chicken dumplings and some rolls. The food was so fresh and so flavorful - everything was prepared so well. Would highly recommend if you're looking for some good sushi. The service was also great, they were quite busy over the dinner service so I'd recommend coming by earlier to avoid any long wait times!

LOVE the creative sushi rolls! The rolls don't have too much rice - perfect ratio in my opinion. Highly recommend the black rice sushi rainbow roll. Service was friendly and efficient. We were lucky to get seated as it was a small restaurant. Don't expect fancy restaurant but it's solid sushi at a very reasonable price. This is our go-to place whenever we come to Vail.

We went here for the first time recently and I'm kicking myself for not having gone before then. joy Sushi is in Vail just barely west of the Safeway in that same strip mall. I've seen it many times and always thought, "I need to go there." I was pleasantly surprised at my experience. First, I'll say we walked in and there were only a couple other people there eating. It was Friday afternoon around 1. I guess since it was early November, we should expect the winter or even summer crowds. There are maybe 10 small tables and the space is somewhat triangular. It was also hot in there. The afternoon sun beats in the front glass and not only that, but the baseboard heaters were on. On to the food. I ordered a chirashi deluxe, uni sushi and a green tea. My wife ordered edamame, cucumber salad, and green tea. Everything was outstanding. The chirashi Sat on a small bed of sushi rice. That I thought was perfect. Sometimes places give you a ton of rice for bulk. I had tuna, salmon, snapper, yellowtail, octopus, and a couple others that I don't remember. Nothing super fancy but generous portions and very fresh tasting. The uni was also a nice portion and delicious. The chirashi also came with a miso soup which was your standard miso with kelp and tofu. The edamame was good and a larger than expected portion. The cucumber salad was crunchy, refreshing and fresh. All our food was great and based on those, I'd recommend pretty much anything on the menu. I don't think you can go wrong. The service was perhaps overly attentive at times. I think the wait staff visited our table no less than 6 times. It wasn't too much, but it got close. Maybe it's because we were some of the few customers there. The service was good though. They were diligent about taking empty plates away, asking how the food was, and refilling our water. They even brought more hot water for the tea. My wife and I decided that we should come here more. It was an enjoyable experience and the food and service were great. I'm sure I am not letting out a secret of the Valley when I say this is some of the best sushi in Vail. I'm just late to the game.

After 2 days of not daring to leave the hotel after sundown, we decided to venture outside and walk the few steps from Double Tree to the mall right next to it. The weather may not have been that cold, but for us Southern Floridians, anything under 75 is cold, so going from 81 to 18 was not an easy endeavor. But after 2 days a having hotel food, when we found out that there was sushi nearby, this group of explorers decided to face the elements and walk there for dinner The restaurant was very small, but maybe that was a perfect size. We ordered 3 rolls: a California roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a salmon tempura roll. The first two rolls seemed very small compared to what I am used to eating (or maybe I was just hungry) but the salmon tempura roll big and delicious. Overall, it was a good eating experience. I think we are ready for North Pole, as long as they serve sushi there.

This quaint sushi bar nailed it with delicious fresh rolls, spicy edamame, and wine. The service was exceptional. I highly recommend for a casual lunch.

Hey guys, let me tell you about this amazing sushi spot I just tried! First off, the tuna tartare with avocado, uni, and caviar was a total game-changer. The mix of creamy avocado, rich uni, and the little pop from caviar with the fresh tuna? So good, I could eat it every day. Then there's the sushi platter ). The tuna sashimi was like butter, and those shrimp heads? So flavorful! The salmon and white fish sushi were super fresh too--each bite felt like a little ocean party in my mouth. The nigiri set was on point. Eel, salmon, tuna, and that white fish--all perfectly seasoned rice, and the fish was so tender. You can tell they use top-notch ingredients here. Now the sushi rolls were next level. The first roll had salmon, avocado, and all these tasty sauces--sweet, savory, a bit spicy. The second one with tuna and that orange roe? So vibrant and delicious. And the cucumber-wrapped roll? Such a fresh twist, perfect for when you want something light but still packed with flavor. Honestly, this place is a sushi lover's dream. The freshness is unmatched, the creativity in each dish is awesome, and every bite makes you go "wow." If you're into sushi, you gotta check this place out. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

FYI I am being very generous with 3 stars because if this restaurant was in LA or NY, this place would have been 2 stars and I would not go back... well not going back anyway. I was convinced to choose this place after reading a review from a Japanese person. I should have known better when I did not see ANY Asian customers when we went into the restaurant . This is my rule number one going to an Asian restaurant, but we were already there so we sat down and hoped for the best. Given that Vail is smack in the middle of the US with no ocean around, the fish was fresh. I will give them that. We ordered two chirashi bowls (one regular and one deluxe), because that is how we determine if the sushi restaurant is actually good or not. Sushi rice is the most essential part of good Japanese sushi restaurant. Their rice did not have flavors. When I asked the owner (?) lady the difference between deluxe and regular chirashi bowls, she did not know the answer. Given the cost of $42 for deluxe and $27 for regular, I was pretty underwhelmed. Two miso soups and one hot tea later, the total became whopping $100+ after tax and tip. For such a highly rated restaurant, I was disappointed. Maybe people enjoy their "sushi" (rolls) and not sushi. Maybe I would have still given this place 4 stars for Vail at this point... but the worst part was that we were rushed to eat our food because there were others waiting (which I understand, but other tables got there before us). They were in such a RUSH to clear our table & give us the check. I took photos of when I got the food & when I got the check. 17 minutes!!! Not much of a relaxing and enjoyable dinner we wanted. I had to shove everything down so fast because of the pressure.

I recently visited Joy Sushi for lunch after a day on mountains / getting it in on the slopes. The vibes was warm, cozy & tight if I must say, the workers were nice & inviting, The service was positive I got no complaints. The sushi was slapping & the original soda was fire taste like bubble gum a little bit lol as far as serving size regular amount of sushi as you would get any where else. Overall Good Spot Definitely Recommended!

Stopped in for takeout and had the seaweed salad, miso soup and eel tuna tempura. It was all very good and I did not have to wait long at all. This place is pretty small but definitely a cute spot to sit down with a couple of friends. The staff was also very friendly and helpful even after I had made a mistake w my order. I'm in vail for a short vaca and would totally eat here again!

If you want authentic Szechuan this is the place! What we got: - Wonton soup - homemade dumplings had a good ginger and garlic flavor. Big portion with vegetables, fermented black beans, so good! - Spicy crispy fish - highly recommend this if you like spicy food. I love this dish whether the chicken or fish variations and this might have been the best I've had! I can't say enough about the Chinese food. We were blown away with how good they were. Our server Patrick was incredible. He was so friendly and welcoming. He's a serious skier and you can often find him backpacking 30+ pounds of cooking gear to make fresh food slope side! We have tried many places in Vail and I highly, highly, highly recommend this place. The interior is small so I recommend making a reservation. The issues: * dirty menu * hot sake delivered room temp, server acknowledged the machine doesn't always work correctly so they'd use a backup to prepare a new one, which did come out hot. If it's a known issue though, you'd hope they'd either fix the machine or check that it's hot. The carafe was not even warm, when normally you would have a hard time holding it for an extended period when it's first served, so the fact that it was cold would have been obvious. * it's in a spare room the hotel uses for event space, so yes it is a pop-up, which means the decor is a couple Japanese screens and not much else * the rolls tasted great, but some would fall apart when picked up * soy sauce bottle on the table was empty and dirty So, could have been better, but the food quality seemed great; nice and fresh rolls and nigiri. The cocktails were unique and delicious. The desert... that was the highlight. Very unique; I unfortunately can't find the name of it as it's not on the regular menu, but it was a frozen desert like a Japanese ice cream, but soft in the center, and was served with green tea and mango flavors. Since I'd parked at Lions Head, before I returned to Denver, I considered the Vail Chophouse, as their menu looked delicious, however when I went inside, the live music was so loud - even with my noise-canceling headphones still in- that I still couldn't hear, and knew I'd blow out my ear drums. Enter: Montauk Seafood Grill, the perfect antidote, with an equally appealing menu, and a much more serene ambiance. :-) Given I was famished, I asked my wonderful server, Brenn, for recommendations, and she was - hands down - one of the best servers I've had, in a long time. She was friendly, attentive, honest, and an all around delight. I started by asking her suggestion, as to if I should order the "Blood Moon" or "Happy Coconut" mocktail, and she recommended the Blood Moon, which was delicious! I love Blood Orange, and it had the perfect combination of mint, to be both sweet & sour. I needed a mocktail, given I was driving back to Denver, after dinner. She then brought me delicious Rosemary Sourdough and Citrus Butter, as a starter, which was fantastic, especially given I needed all the carbs, from skipping lunch, riding so much, and from fasting the night before, for a prior medical appointment, that morning, in Denver, hence my late start, snowboarding. Then I ordered - and loved - the Point Reyes Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon, medium rare, with the most delicious asparagus I've ever had, and I was grateful that they could make my truffle potatoes, whipped, instead of hash brown style. I ended my delicious dinner with a cappuccino, for the drive home. Perfection!
