Tiny place, but the service is friendly and the ambience is great. Sushi was very pricey, but everything tasted fresh and it was a great meal. One roll was really small, and I kinda felt that $24 for it was overpriced. The rolls we ordered ranged from $24- $28 each. There's one roll that's called the tsunami. It has fresh snow crab and was phenomenal. By far, my fave roll out of all 4. My daughter doesn't like sushi, but she said the udon was very flavorful and the tempered veggies that came with it, were delicious. It's probably not a place I could afford to frequent while visiting, but I would definitely come back again.

Service was excellent. They had outdoor seating available so we sat outside. I would get the shishitos again and the tuna tacos. The other dishes were good just not my favorite. I would definitely go back to try more of their food.

A variety of scrumptious sushi

Small cave like venue with excellent sushi, sashimi and rolls to choose from along with appetizers. Some not too commonly found sashimi including flounder and octopus. Nice selection of sake and wine with a few cocktail specialties. It is a bit noisy and a 90 minute table limit. Best to make a reservation on the weekends especially.

Too much to mention, all was delicious!

This tiny sushi joint in Vail Village is a hidden treasure! Make a reservation as they are jam packed with only about 12 tables or so. Great service and ambiance with club like vibe. The sushi and sashimi is top notch! On a side note, it was very warm inside.

Great Sushi!! I LOVED the edamame and the middle roll was my fav. (The coconut shrimp roll)! We also loved the salmon and tuna sashimi that were marinated in the ponzu/citrus marinade! The spicy tuna with the shishito peppers on top were great as well! Over all great experience!

We went here on a Tuesday night, late Aug. I had just had a root canal down in Denver, so when we got back to our hotel our concierge said this was the place he and his wife often visited. We strolled by and saw one group of people sitting outside. The sun was setting. The town center was impeccably quiet. We sat down and were immediately greeted by Sarah, one of the most genuine servers we've ever met. She took a pencil, and made a checkmark by her favorites. We ordered a Chianti. The evening was magical. The food was outstanding! The ambiance, bliss. The service over the top.

Food, service and ambiance everything was delicious, our server took his time and helped us decide as we tried a wide variety of menu items. Will be sure to come back when in Vail.

Food was great and came out quickly, drinks were delicious and unique. Pretty tight space inside but service was good!

Shrimp Tempura Sushi

We ordered Shrimp Tempura rolls. Came with 6 pieces but only two pieces had the tempura coated shrimp. The others were just plain boiled shrimp. They charged us an automatic 20% tip for pick up. So, $22 for 6 tiny pieces of sushi. Not worth it.

Small sushi restaurant in Vail Village. If I remember correctly they open at 5 PM for dinner. They accept reservations, which my family and I were not aware of, but we were able to snag a spot as soon as they opened. They offer booth seating as well as table seating. We were greeted by 2 employees whom were friendly and got us seated right away as there was no one else in the restaurant at that time. Our server provided us regular menus as well as what I think was a "seasonal" menu where you are given a pencil and you check off which items you would like. He also noticed my mom was a bit uncomfortable in her chair due to her backpack, so he offered to place it in a secure closet near the host stand. When ordering our food I mentioned my allergies and our server was kind enough to take the time to suggest and check off some of his favorite sushi rolls as well as rolls that do not contain my allergies. Our table ordered: miso soup, veggie roll (sorry, I don't remember the name, but i'll provide a photo!), udon bowl with chicken skewers, and sirloin teriyaki skewers with side of rice. While waiting, our servers ensured our waters were full and my boyfriend ordered a hot toddy, which he felt was too strong and didn't have honey. So if you prefer to have honey in your hot toddy just make sure to ask! The food didn't take long at all to come out. I didn't get a chance to taste the veggie roll, but it smelt delicious and the feed back from my brother and boyfriend was two thumbs up! So, I hardly ever eat steak, but I was on vacation and thought I'd give it a shot and I definitely was not disappointed. Usually the texture of steak gets to me, but I enjoyed Yama's sirloin very much. It wasn't too "chewey" and had just the right amount of juices. The vegetable tempura that came along the udon tasted fresh as well. Overall the family and I were pleased with the food. There were two gentlemen in particular that helped our table. We felt that the service was great. We were frequently checked on, but not in an overwhelming manner. They also had a good sense of humor! As far as prices go..they are pretty pricey, but given the locale I believe it's to be expected and well matched with the quality of the food. For 5 people and a couple appetizers our total came to around $159. 5 stars!

I ordered the lamp chops, which were presented beautifully. I requested medium-rare, but when I cut into the first piece, it was well done, and the second was the same. The third piece was slightly better, but I called the manager to complain. He assured me that they would replace it and make it perfect. By the time my new meal arrived, my friends had already finished theirs. I cut into the first piece, and it was again well done. The next two pieces were just okay, but I decided to eat them. They promised to replace the well-done piece, but when I tried the lamb, it was not even that great. It had an unusual texture and tasted terrible. I've had a lot of lamb in my life, and this was by far one of the worst I've ever had. To make amends, they gave us three small pieces of Mochi cut in half. Makoto, please do better.

First of all, I called in for an early reservation (5:30 pm!) here well in advance, so I thought it wouldn't be difficult to snag a decent table...but nope! We ended up sitting in this super-narrow space in the middle of the restaurant by the kitchen AND the restroom. Well, anyone that knows me know that I am claustrophobic, and can't stand being in a tight space like this. We could hear every word said by the couple sitting right next to us...almost close enough to touch us!! It was awful...and I wanted to leave before even sitting down! ANYWAY, I decided to grit my teeth and endure the uncomfortable dining. I started with a very strong drink...this Whisky cocktail (forgot the name), which was ridiculously expensive ($24?), but luckily, very good! We ordered several items to share....Rock Shrimp appetizer, Wagyu Fried Rice, Chicken Ramen Noodle Soup and this fancy appetizer (forgot the name). Rock Shrimp appetizer and the Wagyu Fried Rice were both solid. However, the Chicken Ramen Noodle Soup was utterly tasteless...I could barely down half of it, even with chili sauce added to it. Tasted like really bad Pho (and I'm not even a fan of Pho). The dessert was very good, and I really enjoyed trying the pink Spagetti textured cream. The presentation was very awkward though. Why the brown tray...when this modern white dish (if you call it that?) was cool on its own?? Speaking of presentation, all the dishes were quite sloppy. Everything looked as if they were just slopped unto the dish without a care in the world...and just not fitting for the price points. Needless to say, it was a very disappointing experience for me. The seating itself ruined half of the experience...then the really bland ramen (more like Pho?!?) just seemed to cap it as the worst meal I've had in Vail and Breckenridge. Even the fancy dessert couldn't save it...as it struck me as a bit awkward-tacky? Tight, awkward seating...Limited options on the menu...Poor presentation...and way overpriced! Definitely will not be returning here.

If you want authentic Szechuan this is the place! What we got: - Wonton soup - homemade dumplings had a good ginger and garlic flavor. Big enough for two as an app. - Double cooked pork - absolutely outstanding. Big portion with vegetables, fermented black beans, so good! - Spicy crispy fish - highly recommend this if you like spicy food. I love this dish whether the chicken or fish variations and this might have been the best I've had! I can't say enough about the Chinese food. We were blown away with how good they were. Our server Patrick was incredible. He was so friendly and welcoming. He's a serious skier and you can often find him backpacking 30+ pounds of cooking gear to make fresh food slope side! We have tried many places in Vail and I highly, highly, highly recommend this place. The interior is small so I recommend making a reservation. Pro tip: it's BYOB so bring a bottle of wine or a few beers!

Since I'd parked at Lions Head, before I returned to Denver, I considered the Vail Chophouse, as their menu looked delicious, however when I went inside, the live music was so loud - even with my noise-canceling headphones still in- that I still couldn't hear, and knew I'd blow out my ear drums. Enter: Montauk Seafood Grill, the perfect antidote, with an equally appealing menu, and a much more serene ambiance. :-) Given I was famished, I asked my wonderful server, Brenn, for recommendations, and she was - hands down - one of the best servers I've had, in a long time. She was friendly, attentive, honest, and an all around delight. I started by asking her suggestion, as to if I should order the "Blood Moon" or "Happy Coconut" mocktail, and she recommended the Blood Moon, which was delicious! I love Blood Orange, and it had the perfect combination of mint, to be both sweet & sour. I needed a mocktail, given I was driving back to Denver, after dinner. She then brought me delicious Rosemary Sourdough and Citrus Butter, as a starter, which was fantastic, especially given I needed all the carbs, from skipping lunch, riding so much, and from fasting the night before, for a prior medical appointment, that morning, in Denver, hence my late start, snowboarding. Then I ordered - and loved - the Point Reyes Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon, medium rare, with the most delicious asparagus I've ever had, and I was grateful that they could make my truffle potatoes, whipped, instead of hash brown style. I ended my delicious dinner with a cappuccino, for the drive home. Perfection!

Dinner: - Butternut baba ganoush: all the flavors of baba ganoush but with butternut squash, and the warm pita was great - Fire roasted tomato and chorizo soup: a bit on the thinner side, smoky, interesting - Buttermilk sea salt biscuit: rich, flaky, with extra butter, country ham, and red pepper jelly - Warm pimento cheese: I don't usually care for pimento, but their's is great with grilled bread. They also use this on their burger at lunch - Wood grilled octopus: nice wood fire flavor, great ham hock beans underneath, grilled avocado - Crispy brussels sprouts: interesting flavor with the grilled avocado sikil pak - Wood fired pork chop: tender, generously sized - Grilled cobia: wonderful warming pineapple coconut curry, charred pineapple, and fresnos for a kick - Seafood diavolo: very flavorful (my dad found it too salty), served over polenta Lunch items: - Fresh catch: Argentenian shrimp and polenta - like shrimp and grits, very flavorful - Grilled cheese and soup: always a good combo - Burger: we added the onion rings, which had a good kick to them They also had a really solid kids' menu, which I appreciate. It was clean and inviting. They offered an array of choices, so there would be something for everyone if you decide to dine here. The food was good, preparation and display were done carefully, but the taste was overall just ok. The appetizers we chose were Warm Pimento Cheese, which was mildly flavorful, but good, and Prime Beef Carne Apache, which had no flavor at all. The main courses we chose included a pork dish and a chicken dish. The chicken had great flavor, but was placed on a bed of potato wedges which were not all completely cooked through. We felt this took away from the overall dish. The accompanied sauce made with yogurt and poppyseed did not add any flavor to the dish. The pork dish had great flavor. The drinks accompanying the food were made well and tasty. The kids menu has an array of choices as well, and our choice of macaroni and cheese was a hit! We ended with a frozen snicker bar dessert that tasted exactly like a frozen snickers bar. Overall, we had a very nice evening and would definitely visit again.
