    Thai basil with chicken
    Clare C.

We came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening. They were very busy and it took a little for someone to seat us at a table. They warned us that there would be a long wait for food and when we asked how long they said ~30 minutes. We thought that was a very normal time and were thankful they warned us. The menu has a wide variety of dishes. I ordered the thai basil with chicken. The portion was very large. The meal had good flavors and I was able to take some home for extras. The prices were above average but that is what we expected at vail. The table was a little dirty but the waiter was very kind and attentive even though he was very busy. Overall a nice meal with vegetarian options.

Located on the edge of Lionshead village, this menu boasts an expansive list of Japanese, Thai and Chinese dishes. Unfortunately at lunch time, we weren't able to order any sushi or sashimi until after 4:30. Pad see ew Wide thin noodles with some sweetness, good portion size. Flavor was a tinge on the sour side and spice level too low. Beef noodle soup Hearty garlicky broth in a extra large bowl. I didn't like how the noodles were pasty though. The beef is jerky-like with a fair amount of tendon included (which I actually like). Spicy crispy fish Too low of a meat-to-batter ratio. Lots of spice and flavors though. Red curry vegetable Coconut milky with an assortment of veggies including carrots, zucchini, tofu and mushrooms. Chicken and beef Again good portion sized but also over sauced with glutinous gravy. Low energy vibe here but there's bound to be something for everyone here and food comes promptly. That's all...

So delicious! The server was very kind and helped me pick my dish. I asked for the chili oil dish to be made traditionally and spicy, which did not disappoint. So good! The pad Thai and sushi rolls were also good and I'm happy to have found good Asian food in Vail. Sitting on the patio was great to breathe in all the mountain air and was close to our hotel. Would recommend!

Stopped in today with some friends for a quick bite of sushi while in town that wasn't extremely overpriced. The guys there were super nice and everything was good. We were the only people in there so it was pretty quiet. I ordered a miso soup and vegetable gyoza dumplings for a starter. The dumplings were delicious and green in color which I thought was interesting. Then I just had a simple eel avocado roll but it was executed very well and the flavors were nice. My friend got one of the specialty rolls and it was delicious (I can't remember the name). I will definitely be stopping back in for a quick bite of sushi again!

Lion king and Bubba Gump sushi rolls.

Tiny little place with amazing food and service! Best wonton soup we've ever had. Chicken fried rice was excellent as was the sushi. Highly recommended the lion king and Bubba Gump rolls. Will definitely be back when visiting Vail.

Focusing mainly on the Thai food here because that was most of our take out order....It was so horrible. Honestly the worst Thai food I have ever had. We ordered a Red Curry, Pad See Ew, mango sticky rice, edamame, and Tom Kha soup. The red curry which we ordered medium spice was soo bland. Not sure how or why. You can basically buy a decent-ish red curry paste anywhere. It's really easy to make. Somehow it had no flavor...maybe the Aspen palette swings very bland? The Pad see ew was also pretty gross. The noodles were very tough and also had no flavor. Basically inedible. The mango sticky rice was truly disgusting. I'm guessing whomever made this has never tried this dish properly. On a positive note people that ordered sushi seemed pretty happy about and said it was solid. People at the counter were nice and pleasant. Overall I would recommend this restaurant focus on one genre of food and stop trying to make foods they don't know how to make (which seems to be Thai)

We ordered the pineapple rice, drunken noodles and house fried rice and they were all delicious. The chef was very nice and the server was super friendly!

I ordered the lamp chops, which were presented beautifully. I requested medium-rare, but when I cut into the first piece, it was well done, and the second was the same. The third piece was slightly better, but I called the manager to complain. He assured me that they would replace it and make it perfect. By the time my new meal arrived, my friends had already finished theirs. I cut into the first piece, and it was again well done. The next two pieces were just okay, but I decided to eat them. They promised to replace the well-done piece, but when I tried the lamb, it was not even that great. It had an unusual texture and tasted terrible. I've had a lot of lamb in my life, and this was by far one of the worst I've ever had. To make amends, they gave us three small pieces of Mochi cut in half. Makoto, please do better.

First of all, I called in for an early reservation (5:30 pm!) here well in advance, so I thought it wouldn't be difficult to snag a decent table...but nope! We ended up sitting in this super-narrow space in the middle of the restaurant by the kitchen AND the restroom. Well, anyone that knows me know that I am claustrophobic, and can't stand being in a tight space like this. We could hear every word said by the couple sitting right next to us...almost close enough to touch us!! It was awful...and I wanted to leave before even sitting down! ANYWAY, I decided to grit my teeth and endure the uncomfortable dining. I started with a very strong drink...this Whisky cocktail (forgot the name), which was ridiculously expensive ($24?), but luckily, very good! We ordered several items to share....Rock Shrimp appetizer, Wagyu Fried Rice, Chicken Ramen Noodle Soup and this fancy appetizer (forgot the name). Rock Shrimp appetizer and the Wagyu Fried Rice were both solid. However, the Chicken Ramen Noodle Soup was utterly tasteless...I could barely down half of it, even with chili sauce added to it. Tasted like really bad Pho (and I'm not even a fan of Pho). The dessert was very good, and I really enjoyed trying the pink Spagetti textured cream. The presentation was very awkward though. Why the brown tray...when this modern white dish (if you call it that?) was cool on its own?? Speaking of presentation, all the dishes were quite sloppy. Everything looked as if they were just slopped unto the dish without a care in the world...and just not fitting for the price points. Needless to say, it was a very disappointing experience for me. The seating itself ruined half of the experience...then the really bland ramen (more like Pho?!?) just seemed to cap it as the worst meal I've had in Vail and Breckenridge. Even the fancy dessert couldn't save it...as it struck me as a bit awkward-tacky? Tight, awkward seating...Limited options on the menu...Poor presentation...and way overpriced! Definitely will not be returning here.

Since I'd parked at Lions Head, before I returned to Denver, I considered the Vail Chophouse, as their menu looked delicious, however when I went inside, the live music was so loud - even with my noise-canceling headphones still in- that I still couldn't hear, and knew I'd blow out my ear drums. Enter: Montauk Seafood Grill, the perfect antidote, with an equally appealing menu, and a much more serene ambiance. :-) Given I was famished, I asked my wonderful server, Brenn, for recommendations, and she was - hands down - one of the best servers I've had, in a long time. She was friendly, attentive, honest, and an all around delight. I started by asking her suggestion, as to if I should order the "Blood Moon" or "Happy Coconut" mocktail, and she recommended the Blood Moon, which was delicious! I love Blood Orange, and it had the perfect combination of mint, to be both sweet & sour. I needed a mocktail, given I was driving back to Denver, after dinner. She then brought me delicious Rosemary Sourdough and Citrus Butter, as a starter, which was fantastic, especially given I needed all the carbs, from skipping lunch, riding so much, and from fasting the night before, for a prior medical appointment, that morning, in Denver, hence my late start, snowboarding. Then I ordered - and loved - the Point Reyes Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon, medium rare, with the most delicious asparagus I've ever had, and I was grateful that they could make my truffle potatoes, whipped, instead of hash brown style. I ended my delicious dinner with a cappuccino, for the drive home. Perfection!

Cocktails: I've always loved their cocktails, so even if you don't have dinner here, you should at least check out the bar. I've never been disappointed in any drink I've gotten. Dinner: - Butternut baba ganoush: all the flavors of baba ganoush but with butternut squash, and the warm pita was great - Fire roasted tomato and chorizo soup: a bit on the thinner side, smoky, interesting - Buttermilk sea salt biscuit: rich, flaky, with extra butter, country ham, and red pepper jelly - Warm pimento cheese: I don't usually care for pimento, but their's is great with grilled bread. They also use this on their burger at lunch - Wood grilled octopus: nice wood fire flavor, great ham hock beans underneath, grilled avocado - Crispy brussels sprouts: interesting flavor with the grilled avocado sikil pak - Wood fired pork chop: tender, generously sized - Grilled cobia: wonderful warming pineapple coconut curry, charred pineapple, and fresnos for a kick - Seafood diavolo: very flavorful (my dad found it too salty), served over polenta Lunch items: - Fresh catch: Argentenian shrimp and polenta - like shrimp and grits, very flavorful - Grilled cheese and soup: always a good combo - Burger: we added the onion rings, which had a good kick to them They also had a really solid kids' menu, which I appreciate. The restaurant is definitely number one at customer service and I loved how everyone worked together. Even though the restaurant was busy, we did not feel lost in the shuffle. It was clean and inviting. They offered an array of choices, so there would be something for everyone if you decide to dine here. The food was good, preparation and display were done carefully, but the taste was overall just ok. The appetizers we chose were Warm Pimento Cheese, which was mildly flavorful, but good, and Prime Beef Carne Apache, which had no flavor at all. The main courses we chose included a pork dish and a chicken dish. The chicken had great flavor, but was placed on a bed of potato wedges which were not all completely cooked through. We felt this took away from the overall dish. The accompanied sauce made with yogurt and poppyseed did not add any flavor to the dish. The pork dish had great flavor. The drinks accompanying the food were made well and tasty. The kids menu has an array of choices as well, and our choice of macaroni and cheese was a hit! We ended with a frozen snicker bar dessert that tasted exactly like a frozen snickers bar. Overall, we had a very nice evening and would definitely visit again.
