Found a gem in middle of drive thru the rocky mtn!! Very fresh food and good service!! I was surprised about the quality of fish. Thank u joy sushi!! read more

We wanted an early dinner and found this sushi on Yelp. It's in a little strip mall kind of place. I can say that the sushi was great. However, if you want to sit and enjoy a meal, don't go here. It was the most rushed meal I've ever had. Also, the server brought our drinks then went and brought back a water, just one. There were 2 of us. Everything pictured was great. The rushed atmosphere killed it for me. read more

150$ ordered two orders of salmon sashimi, received one. Ordered Wagyu sashimi didn't get it, called they told me it was there under one of my rolls ??? Y would you put it under another roll?? We eat a lot of sushi there definitely was no Wagyu to be found. They told me 20 minutes took an hour ten. When I called they told me to bring the food back so they could show me where the Wagyu was. After an hour ten they wanted me to come back to prove me wrong, once again there was definitely no Wagyu!!! Eating there for years not again. Nozawa, Osoki, Yama, Matsu. Too many choices to threat people poorly... read more

The food was delicious and came out fast and the price was not expensive at all highly recommended

A very small place with few tables inside and few outside, with lots of parking. The service is very quick, and the food it tasty! We loved the budha suchi roll, soft and crunchy, spicy and sweet all at once. The spicy edamame was good too but slightly on the salty side. The red bean and mango dessert was interesting! read more

If I was a local, this would be my go-to favorite for any event! Unfortunately, traveling on the 1-70 is not a frequent trip for me :( The food is so delicious it left a huge impression, to the point I found it again after awhile of not traveling through. I ordered the spicy garlic edamame and YUM YUM YUM. Definitely a spicy dish, but all the flavors compliment each other just perfectly. Next ordered was the AAC roll as well as the California roll, with nothing but good reviews for those rolls! Very fresh ingredients and amazing quality products. It was also really packed when I picked up my order, it took about 30 minutes and there were no tables available but none of that took away from an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Joy Sushi for anyone craving a DELISH stop! read more

The staff was very attentive and kind and the service was quick. The place is a small little restaurant but the service and food are good. As you can see in the pictures, they do not short you on the amount of fish they put in their product. I would recommend if you are looking for a good spot for sushi. The other dishes on the menu looked really good as well, but we did not have time to try them. read more

Place is tiny but the service is absolutely amazing. They pretty much have someone on standby if any of the tables need anything which I think is awesome. My one critique is they don't have a bigger area. The fish was extremely fresh and exceeded all of my expectations for what a sushi place would be like in the mountains of Colorado. Can't wait to come back. read more

Amazingly attentive staff, clean place inside an unsuspecting little strip mall where you can watch the chefs assemble your food. Excellent fish quality and good portions for price especially compared to surrounding (vail) prices. read more

Not sure if the food is good or not, because it's an hour and 15 minutes past my pickup time and it's not ready yet. They asked for 90 minutes for pickup, so I gave them 105 minutes. It's now been a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes (75 minutes overdue). It could be understandable as it's a holiday, but they have no reason they will give for being behind and their system can't seem to account for how long it takes to create an order. Also, it's been this late and they have offered nothing for the inconvenience. Not a free appetizer, not a discount, nothing...except an insincere "sorry." read more

Fast, friendly, clean, and delicious! We enjoyed two rolls and the edamame. Be sure to check it out!

Looking for a less pretentious, affordable place to eat in Vail? Check out Joy Sushi which is off the main road in Vail and away from Lionshead. This place was jam packed when we arrived for dinner and a line quickly formed after arriving and never slowed down when we left. The sushi was fresh, delicate with large cuts of fish and the rice was nutty and perfectly cooked and at room temperature, just the way sushi should be. The maguro was my favorite, followed by the tempura which was lightly battered and fried. The California roll and dragon roll were so good that I couldn't get enough. The waiters were tremendous, friendly and made me feel at home, while the sushi chefs were hard at work behind the counter. read more

If you're in the area you must stop here. The tricky part is getting a seat. 3-4 large tables and a few couples tables. No future reservations but will put your name and number down and call when available. The service is amazing and the food was the same. Our family shared a bunch of specialty sushi. You can see the chefs creating the sushi from anywhere in the restaurant. I highly recommend the seaweed salad. read more

East coaster a bit suspicious of sushi in these parts....however...this is the most delicious and fresh sushi I have had in some time. Please put this on your list when in Vail. Delish! read more

Small space. No reservations. The sushi was excellent. Especially the crab roll. The place was hopping when we got there with to go orders and people waiting for tables. There was no list so it was just up to us to jockey for the next table. That was a little annoying and stressful as the guy behind me in line was super aggressive. No cocktails were on the menu when we were there, just beer, sake and wine. Friendly, somewhat efficient service. It took a while to get the bill but they were super apologetic. read more

With the loss of Nozawa next door at the old Holiday Inn, Joy Sushi is now the best sushi in the area! The fish was fresh and delicious, with salmon that melts in your mouth! Service was outstanding, very fast and made sure our leftovers were well wrapped. Decor is outstanding considering the small size and odd shape of the restaurant. They did an excellent job with limited resources. The place does get crowded, so if it's dinner hour, consider phoning in an order for pickup. They do not have a liquor license yet, unfortunately. read more

Tried the Chirashi bowls because this is how We compare sushi restaurants, Chirashi is pretty consistent regardless of geography. Sadly, it was disappointing. There was only 3 types of fish: salmon and two types of tuna, 2 slices each for a total of 6 pieces. Each piece was large and thick. Not as diverse a selection of fish and or shrimp as almost all other chirashi bowls we've ever had. The rice was average. Please add a variety of fish, shrimp, egg and or eel. The portions can be smaller but variety is important. read more

I have been to Joy several times and each time the experience has declined. Tonight was the final straw for me. The sushi is good, not great. The prices have spiked up and are very overpriced for what you get. The preparation was good the first few times I went but tonight it was a joke. I called two servers over to complain about the small rolls and they were so arrogant and definitely not putting the customer first. The lady argued with me and was rude. They rush you in and out of the restaurant which makes for an unenjoyable experience. They've lost my business for sure. Many better places with much better value in the Vail area. read more

This place never disappoints. Great sushi every time and reasonable pricing. Their rice is also cooked on point (nice and soft). Excellent rice makes great sushi. If you've eaten at Sugar Fish in LA then you know what I mean and their rice is almost as comparable. read more

I live in California and come to Vail at least once a year. Last year I discovered joy sushi and am so so thankful I did. This is the only sushi place that, I think, is really worth visiting in Vail. I came with a group so got to try lots... I *loved* the shishito peppers, edamame, yellowtail sashimi/jalapeno appetizer, hamachi nigiri, tai nigiri, refreshing roll, spicy tuna roll, sunrise roll, sundown roll, and lion king roll. Their miso soup and Black rice rainbow roll were great too but not my favorite. Would still recommend, just with less enthusiasm! Love this place. So freaking good read more

I was raised in a Japanese family and I'm a local 20 years in Vail. I have eaten the best sushi through my life from Nobu in NYC to Tokyo. I have eaten at every sushi restaurant in our valley, but today I had the BEST sushi I have had in Vail in years. The quality was outstanding. The nigiri salmon and salmon eggs, Ikura, were perfect and fresh. My Japanese grandmother taught me to pay attention to the rice, if it's sticky and gooey, thats poorly done. Today the rice was perfect, each grain separate and tender. The presentation or the sushi was neat, and made with skill. I'm blown away today. This is my new favorite sushi place . read more

Decent sushi but I thought it was overpriced for what we got. We mainly went there because it was easy to park at, and reservations aren't required. Staff was super friendly. read more

Im leaving this review for my boyfriend because he doesn't have Yelp but loved his meal at Joy Sushi so much that he made me write this "This is the best sushi in The Valley. I was especially impressed by the genuine wasabi and excellent customer service. I accidentally dropped my mochi on the ground and they gave me another free mochi. Later, they came out to tell me they accidentally charged me for two mochis. I said it was no problem, but the waitress went back in the store and brought me extra mochis to my car! I normally eat at Matsuhisa, but the quality of fish at Joy Sushi is just as good, and the service is even better!!!! Thank you Joy Sushi I will be back!" read more

Quality is amazing! So fresh! We have come two years in a row now and will be returning! You will not be disappointed, very cozy inside too!

Ordered to go and it was perfect! Delicious and healthy!!! Might be my new favorite place. I ordered all vegetarian/vegan which I'm sure is not their specialty, but everything was prepared to perfection and lots of options. I didn't dine in but the atmosphere looks very cute. I asked for broccoli in my fried rice and there were tons of veggies all with great flavor! Try the red bean mochi. Home run! read more

The atmosphere of this place is amazing! Hands down some of the best sushi I have ever had with incredibly friendly staff

I came here with the host family I was staying with, and I got the caterpillar (eel and crabmeat topped with avocado) and sunrise (crabmeat and shrimp tempura topped with avocado, salmon, and masago) rolls. On the menu, sunrise did not have masago, so I was surprised to see it. It also did not have sauce, which it came with. The menu needs to be more detailed. The sushi was tasty and fresh, which I liked. I tried a bit of the chirashi tofu and chicken teriyaki, both of which were good but the tofu was a bit too sour. Service was quite slow but friendly, and food was filling. Sushi was expensive though, as both rolls came out to be $35 pre-tax pre-tip. read more
