Quintessential local breakfast spot, decent but basic fare Came here since I was waiting on a bakery to open, so decided to try a new place. Coming inside, was greeted by one of the servers and told to sit wherever. Picked a bench seat then looked through the menu. Asked for a recommendation, was told their French toast was great. So I got a short stack and a decaf coffee and waited. Watching the crew work, I saw a lot of locals greeted by name. Orders go in with little interaction and the staff were more interested in asking about their day rather than just taking orders. This is the type of spot one goes to for the community rather than the food. Which is good, cause the food isn't very strong. The French toast was soaked well, but not mixed enough. Leading to pockets of egg whites in the bread. Not enough cinnamon in the mix, and the initial presentation was very simple. I had to get lots of extras to doctor up the French toast to make it look good, which helped but it was still fundamentally lacking. Price was reasonable, so it's an affordable breakfast option for those looking for a quick bite. If you're looking for a place to make your staple breakfast joint and you live close, this place will scratch that itch. Go in for basic fare and you'll do just fine
This little diner (where all the breads & muffins are made in-house) is a total gem!! I came here on a Saturday morning with my dad for breakfast. We were a little discouraged at first, and we actually almost left before trying the place, because there was a line that was almost out-the-door. Fortunately, we quickly realized that this was primarily due to the size of the place (and the subsequent size of the waiting area) rather than the number of parties that were actually in front of us (which was actually only 3 or 4). This being said, it still took around 20 minutes for us to get a table due to the place's unique seating policy. There are no hosts or hostesses that seat parties as they come in, rather parties just take a seat at any table that is open and clean. This being said, we were told by the people in front of us in line (who claimed to have been coming to the place for decades) that the servers wait a while after parties leave before they clear their table, as they try to give both themselves and the kitchen a break since the place is so popular otherwise. When we were finally able to get a table we were immediately impressed with all of the various options, including a wide selection of omelets, muffins, pancakes, french toast, and far more. We opted to sample a few different things, and we were very impressed by everything that we tried (especially the muffins). It was all delicious, but our favorite was the muffins and our least favorite was he pancakes Our waitress was very friendly as well, and the prices were extremely affordable!
Stopped into Josie's with my dad for breakfast and had a wonderful time. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. The inside is quaint and has a cozy mom-and-pop diner feel to it. I got the pancakes and my dad had the gluten free French toast. The pancakes were GIANT and super tasty. Great service, food, and atmosphere. Real convenient being right off the highway too. Big portions for a cheap price. Just a lovely place all around. Dad and I will definitely be returning for more!!
I love Josie's! Food is always delicious. Yesterday I went with one of my friends and had a great breakfast! This place is always super busy. Specially on the weekends. Our food took A little longer than the normal but we were understanding as there are shortages everywhere. Staff is wonderful! My friend ordered the egg Benedict and it comes with homemade potatoes . I had eggs, gf toast with hash and potatoes. The bread they have is homemade and it's delicious. They have gf options such as muffins, toast and French toasts. Never a bad experience here at Josie's.
Ever since I saw Cinnamon Swirl Coconut French Toast on the menu, I have been dying to come here. I finally stopped by for a Sunday breakfast with my Fiancé and I'm already planning on visiting again. Upon arrival, we took notice of how busy they were, but luckily we only waited about 15 minutes before being seated. My Fiancé ordered the Corned Beef Hash with eggs, home fries and toast, and really enjoyed it. I stuck with the French toast and had a side of home fries and a sausage patty. The French toast was just as delicious as I hoped for - the crunchiness and loads of shredded coconut was perfection. The house-made bread was nicely thick and fluffy with just the right amount of cinnamon swirl. The breads were also pretty big, that I barely touched the home fries. Additionally, our waitress throughout the visit was very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend Josie's Corner!
A mysterious stranger approaches me on the street, and says, "Jason P, you may only eat breakfast in a restaurant once this month. You can either order whatever you want from a 3 Yelp Star Breakfast restaurant. Or, you can order toast at Josie's Corner." . . . I choose Josie's toast with its homemade bread 100% of the time! I value restaurants that execute simple things at a very high level. That's Josie's homemade bread and toast. It's not fancy bakery, crusty, sourdough round type bread. It's the type of bread loaf that you might buy sliced at the grocery, but way better and fresher. Bread like whole wheat, marble or rye. It makes the perfect morning toast. Today, I ordered a sausage, egg and American cheese on Josie's whole wheat toast for takeout. Great execution across the board. A well grilled egg. Tasty sausage. Perfectly melted cheese. And Josie's awesome toast. As highly as I feel about Josie's bread, one could feel even better about their homemade muffins. They're always super fresh and delicious. I posted a pic of their Morning Glory muffin. They will split it and grill it in butter, which is just tremendous, but today I bought it to eat later. It's great at room temperature too. Josie's serves a wide range of other breakfast items in a small diner setting. I'm contractually bound to order something involving their toast though. A month passes, the Mysterious Stranger finds me on the street, and says . . . "Jason P! You chose - wisely!"
I love little places like this! When I travel I always try to find those local spots with great food and good service that you know have become a staple in their community. Josie's Corner is exactly that! Busy when we walked in, it was clear this place was a local spot that people visited every week. We were able to choose our own table and quickly greeted for service. A lot of great breakfast staples to choose from, I ordered the Irish Benedict. Slathered in rich and creamy Hollandaise sauce, the corned beef hash flavor and saltiness was just the perfect balance for this meal. The eggs were cooked exactly how I liked them and I requested it be on top of their house made bread! Their house bread.. really good! Light and fluffy with thickness and full texture! The only thing I wish was better was the bottomless coffee.. a little lacking in flavor, tasted a bit watered down. Unfortunately most places use generic coffee brands or don't have the right ratios down. I'm a coffee snob though, so no loss of points because of this! Ha ha! If you're in and around the area looking for your breakfast fill, I definitely recommend stopping by Josie's Corner!
I love this place. All staff is friendly and fun, always have a smile on their faces. Great pick-up order ahead option. Always quick. Clean home like environment. Many options for Breakfast and lunch, new specials and items. GO VISIT, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!
Best breakfast of our whole trip! This was the best possible last minute decision I've made in hangry mode (aka give me food now or I'll lose it). We were seated quickly, served quickly, and ate some of the best breakfast food! Our server was so cute and we southerners felt like we were right back home talking with her and trying her suggestions (muffins, etc.). Hit this place up if you are passing through. You won't be sorry you did! 10/10 would go again.
Went to Josie's Diner today for a late breakfast and it was quite underwhelming. The food was just average, nothing to write home about. The service was slow, and the atmosphere was somewhat dated. It's the kind of place you might go to if you're in a pinch, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
My husband and I decided to try Josie's because one of his customers recommended it and gave us a gift card. I love breakfast and I can eat it any time of day. So I was super excited to try a new spot. This place is so adorable! What I love most is the cleanliness of this place. It was spotless! The staff was welcoming and friendly as well. I walked in knowing what I wanted. I ordered their veggie omelette and you have the option of sautéed or raw vegetables - which is nice for those who are calorie conscious. Along with a side of short stack pancakes. BOYYY what a feast I had, little did I know the pancakes would be huge!!! I would of been done with just one but that's ok! It wasn't wasted that's for sure. Their home fries were delicious. They had a good crispy on them with a soft inside, just right to dip in ketchup. The pancakes was cooked nice and fluffy with a nice touch of crispy buttery edges. My husband ordered French toast topped with walnuts and corn beef hashed. He cleaned off his plate real good. If I'm ever in this area again, this is where I will be for my next breakfast break.

Josie's Corner is our go-to spot for breakfast!! Not only are the owners and staff super sweet, warm and welcoming, but their food is always bomb. The Eggs Benedict hollandaise sauce is a thick sheet of goodness and their pancakes are huge. For an omelette, definitely try the hamburger omelette (with pickles)! It's our fave! read more
We've tried to get breakfast here on the weekends several times but we're never successful because the wait was crazy. This Saturday we got a spot right away at the counter! When you're here you are treated like family- shout out to the waitress that only gave us half the bread because we ordered 4 entrees for 2- 2 omlettes plus also ordered pancakes and french toast and they don't want to see it go to waste- thank you!!! Service is fantastic. You want whipped cream on your coffee? And a scoop of hot chocooate- you got it! Now onto the food. Do not leave without having a slice of their HOMEMADE cinnamon raisin toast. The bread is thick and fresh. Don't miss it! The specialty omlette with chorizo and black beans was fantastic! The hashbrowns we're also 5 star worthy Now onto the pancakes I was debating between 1 and a short stack.. let's just say the 1 in addition to the omlette was enough. It filled the entire plate. Still dreaming of that banana chocolate chip pancake... The cinnamon toast french toast we probably could have skipped considering we got the cinnamon toast and it was nothing out of the ordinary. They do have gf options but I did not try any or ask if those were also made on site. Bite the wait and stick around for some serious home cooked breakfast! Worth it! We will be back to try the next half of the menu and yes, lick our plates clean. read more

Some of the best home fries I've had in CT--topped off with caramelized onions. Perfection. The pancakes were HUGE and delish as well. We split the pancakes between 3 of us and still had leftovers. Will be back again next time we're swinging through. read more
I've searched and searched.... Finally found the perfect breakfast spot!! Came here for the first time and fell in love! This is a very small cozy restaurant with a very welcoming feel. The service was amazing and the food was delicious! They had everything I needed here from my yogurt fruit bowl to a very very yummy egg Benedict on biscuit! Everything here was perfection and we had the best server ever! (Charlene and her very adorable mini server in training) read more

Josie's Corner is one of the most amazing hidden gems in Berlin. I have never been disappointed with an item on their menu. Their Eggs Benedict has the perfect ratio of hollandaise sauce to English muffin. Their hash browns sautéed with onions will have you on Cloud 9. Best of all, you can request to have their homemade bread -it is a must! read more

Great food and service and reasonable prices. As others have said the homemade bread is excellent. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the gluten free options as well, which are made using potato flour. The atmosphere was nice, clean bright colors, well lit, plenty of room to eat. I'll definitely be heading back soon. read more

On arrival we had no idea what to expect at Josie's Corner. Josie's is first come first serve and the staff is super friendly and welcoming as if you were a local. This definitely appeared to be a local regular spot and it totally had that vibe in a great way. We tried out the chocolate chip pancakes and the plain pancakes. We also had two create your own omelets. There were no complaints at the table. All food came out promptly. The kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes and the endless supply of syrup. The omelets were cooked perfectly and were loaded with just the right amount of filling. If you are gluten free, the roasted red pepper bread/ toast is off the charts! If you aren't, order it anyway. It is worth it. They also have other bread options which are either made on site or locally. Pop over and check out Josie's if in the area! read more
I was out of town looking for a good breakfast place and came across Josie's Corner. I must of gotten there just after a rush because all the tables were full and nobody had food. Also there's no hostess so you have to work out who gets the next table with the other people in line. Once we got a table we ordered our coffee and food almost immediately. My food was actually really good. Had the cinnamon french toast, a fried egg, and home fries. I liked the home fries but others at my table thought they were more like dinner potatoes because of the spice. Next time I'm back in town I'll try to swing by again. read more

This place gives you small country diner vibes. It's a clean cute, small restaurant. The food was amazingly delicious. You can tell the waitress has a lot on their plate to do because they weren't able to check in at least once. They do make a run around to refill coffee at tables. I adored the Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for my little one. My family overall enjoyed this place and will come back again! read more

This is THE best place in Connecticut for breakfast. Their Egg Benedict is AMAZING! All the portions are huge, you really get your monies worth here. The service is usually very fast and very friendly. I would give Josie's 5 stars, but the place is VERY noisy and also has a LONG wait. read more

I just moved into the area and found this place via yelp. I was not disappointed. I went for Sunday breakfast and although the place was packed we were able to get a table promptly. I ordered the standard eggs, homefries (was given a choice between onions and no onions which was awesome because I shared my homefries and the person I was with didn't like onions) bacon and their homemade rye. The food was excellent, priced fairly and the service was great. I will definitely be going back. read more
