Love this "Hole in the wall restaurant". They have been here since the 1980's. We always go with the expectation it will be super busy with no place to sit! Excellent service! The wait staff are fantastic! Well, let's not forget the fabulous chefs either. Food is always consistent. I consider us regulars since this is our go to spot for the last 20 plus years. The food is delicious regardless of whether it's breakfast or lunch! The menu has lots of choices. You can't go wrong with anything you choose to eat. Everything is good!! It is in an older part of Plano. The booths are well used as are the table and chairs. You will fall into a sink hole in the booths. I suggest seating at the tables if you are a large person. Who cares when the service and food is spectacular! Simple and generous. Not sure why all my various food pics didn't post. We eat here at least twice a month. There are multiple items on the menu to choose from and it's always good! The sweet tea is delicious if that's your thing. It's clean and the service is fantastic! You pay at the counter when you leave. They won't bring you a receipt. When you're ready to go just go to the cashier. You can leave your tip with the cashier or place it on your table. The two waitresses will get their tip since they are the ones that buss the tables! Forgot to mention, parking is awful! Still best place to eat on weekends. November 2024

Oh my you will not leave here hungry ! The food is super tasty fresh and flavorful. I love the portions I got 4 big pieces of catfish and 3 sides all for 12.50$ ! The sandwich is huge too ! Also love that they have bottled soda ! I will definitely be coming back to try those breakfast too. Great home cooking with fair prices !

Hard to see from the street when driving by. The food is so good. Crispy potatoes, eggs were done right, sausage patties were tasty and the biscuits and gravy is what I came for. The waitress was very polite and kept my glass full with fresh iced tea. Has a good ole cafe feel.

Warm, calming and clean atmosphere in the dining room this morning.

What a nice "joke in the wall" type of cafe! The outside is "very basic", but those who venture through the double set of doors find themselves in a very pleasant, clean dining room perfect for morning breakfast! The service was great - very attentive from my entrance, quick cup of coffee to get started and ready to get my order in. I had the French Toast combo with eggs over easy and bacon. Bacon was acceptable, eggs were done right and the coffee was fine - the French Toast was fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed my Friday morning break with a great affordable breakfast here - I plan to bring friends next time.

    Great coffee!

John's Cafe in Plano has been there for years. I finally tried them out for breakfast this past weekend and was impressed. I was just sad that I haven't eaten there sooner. I arrived around 11am and it was somewhat busy, but I was able to get a booth right away. I was greeted immediately upon seating with menus and she took my drink order. The fresh hot coffee arrived a few minutes later and she also took my order. The coffee was great. Not too weak and not too strong. The perfect mix for my tastes. I ordered the meat lover's omelette with a side of hash browns and an English muffin. I requested they butter and grill the English muffin as opposed to just toasting it and it came out perfect. The omelette was good and filled with ingredients. The hash browns had the right amount of crisp to them. This is definitely a little hole-in-the-wall family run business and it shows. They all love what they do and take care of their diners. The inside was very clean and charming. They had a nice mix of music playing in the background. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot for breakfast. They do serve lunch as well, but I have not tried any lunch items yet. If it's anything like their breakfasts, you can't go wrong.

The portions are large and the food was delicious. I ordered the corn beef hash, hash browns, 3 eggs , and biscuits with gravy. At first when you walk in it looks a bit beaten down but trust the food was fantastic. Service was prompt and on point. A bit pricey but you get the food!

On our way to Galveston, we found this place on Yelp and decided to try it. And it was a great choice! Albeit not a large restaurant it was comfortable and roomy. We had omelettes and biscuits and gravy. Both were excellent! I'm going this review a week later, so I can't say what they were. But I do remember it was delicious and filling! Friendly staff and accommodating!

When I saw the restaurant's website was in Spanish, I knew what I was getting... a Mexican-inspired breakfast. I ordered the Caliente Omelet. Unlike similar omelets at other places, I did not feel as if they were trying to get rid of their jalapeno. There was sufficient amount of jalapeno peppers in the omelet. The salsa was very lacking, more watery than either spicy or flavorful. The toast was nearly burnt on one side and very burnt on the other. My waitress came to check on me only once after I got my food. While I was eating my breakfast, I was expecting her to drop off the check. By the time I finished my second cup of coffee, I never got the check and had to go to the register to get it.

This place does not disappoint for good home cooking. Tiki Hubby share the Caliente Omelette, chrozio, tomato, cheddar cheese, onions and jalapeños perfect for cold morning we chose biscuits and gravy and crispy hashbrowns $13.24 enough for both of us. Good ice tea and coffee best waitress. Gets full on Weekend mornings.

Located right on the street, it's a good spot to stop for a bite to eat and drink right there in the historic downtown Plano. They even source their meat from the local Ye Ole Butcher Shop that is right down the street. I opted for the McNeal's classic burger. Those burger patties are amazing. If you have never had one and are a burger lover, stop by here sometime or the butcher shop itself. The side of fries here are crisp, not soggy or flavorless. Definitely has the pub feel going on. If I lived closer I would probably call this place home. I have had different servers the times I have been, and the service has been friendly and spot on. Update: went again and ran into someone from my hometown. This is def a Cheers type place lol

We chose to sit outside to be near the live performance which was a great call. We got the Irish Flag ($20) which is a flight of 3 tea shots in green, orange, and white tea. It was pretty light but fun to try. We then saw our friends sharing a frozen margarita that looked too good to pass up so we ordered one too. I cannot believe they are only $10 because they are huge and definitely meant for sharing. They have a few flavors to choose from and I do not remember which one we got but it was good and strong in the best way. It sneaks up on you. No brain freeze either which was a bonus and it put us in a great mood for the rest of the night.

Our server had a scowl on her face from the moment she came to the table. (Long dark ponytail) It was 12:30pm & it was not busy (breakfast rush was over.) We had to get up three times to ask for things, our toast & pancakes, napkins, coffee. The three servers working were standing at the front counter talking away with each other our server, at one point, was talking on her cell phone. The food quality has gone down in recent months. Eggs were nice & hot, hash browns were cold, bacon had been good in the past, but our past two visits the bacon has tasted burnt & it has an odd flavor. Toast was over cooked, not buttered, it was not edible. The last time our coffee was refilled was by a man that looked like he had just come out of the kitchen. He was very nice & we were grateful that our coffee was being refilled without having to get up and ask for it. The servers were still lolly gagging behind the counter while the gentleman was refilling our coffee. I have worked in the restaurant business from being a server & also in management. I am very understanding of all angles of what is going on in a restaurant setting. The service on Saturday was the worst service I have ever experienced. Rude & unapologetic, it was as if we were inconveniencing her. We will not be returning.
