    St Valentines Day Specials
    Bill P.

Tonight, we went there for a St Valentine's Day dinner. I had a Reuben sandwich and my lady friend had shrimp and fries. The food was very good, the service was fast and the atmosphere in the dining was quiet and cozy. The meal was good but sadly we found out that they will be closing at the end of May 2026 and converting the place into a different type of restaurant/bar. A Five Stars rating goes to this restaurant that's been in business for 30 years.

Beware! Most pictures are professional taken probably from previous owner food didn't look like pictures. It was higher food prices for mediocre meal. No daily/weekly discount menu or senior discounts here. Service was good. Ambiance was clean. Had turkey club was good but small amounts of meat on sandwich new owners so not the same

We passed this on our way to run an evening errand and after looking at the menu, we gave it a try. We went in and it's an old bar/restaurant from the 70s or 80s that has its classic charm, but great food. You can smell the meats being smoked as soon as you walk in this dimly lit restaurant. We ordered a skirt steak dinner and it came with a salad. We both upped for the Greek side salad, and that was a large and hearty portion for a beginning salad. The dressing was delicious and was perfect for the pile of fresh veggies and feta cheese. I ordered my steak and was able to choose the starch, so I chose rice. It was about 8 oz and felt much bigger. It was tender and juicy as well. I asked for it Greek Style and only wished it had a tad more lemon, but all places are different. I have no complaints about it. My husband ordered the Veal Liver and it was also a large portion. It came with bacon and onions, mashed, and veggies. He loved his liver and loved the way it was prepared. We found out they smoke and grill all their meats, and we could tell because you could smell it throughout the restaurant. The service was very good. You're able to tell the staff has been there for many years. Our service was also very good. The server made his recommendations and was very friendly. This is a great old school, Greek owned restaurant with hearty portions and delicious food. I'll be glad to come back.

    Baked French Onion Soup

Mario did a great job! His suggestions made the meal even better. I highly suggest the French onion soup & the mashed potatoes ! Fantastic! The bread was slightly warm. The ambiance is dark.... There's a bar, they played Frank Sinatra & had the greats on the wall... very mafia esq. lol Also, you save money if you pay in cash....the price goes up if you use your card....I wasn't fond of that.

For me, the place is dark and old, needs some renovation. The pork chop was dry and overcooked for my liking.

Social Inn has been on my to-try list for some time.  My husband and I finally had a chance to…read morecheck it out on a Monday evening recently.  I made a reservation via Tock that I already had an account for years, so that was simple. On a weekday evening, as expected, the restaurant was not busy.  We were promptly seated at a 4-top table (2 × 2-top) against the right wall, with some other 2-tops on both sides.  Like many reviewers had mentioned, the venue was beautiful, modern and chic. There were 7 tables occupied, including us.  The music that they had was not too loud, just that customers' conversations were amplified by the box shape open dining area.  If we focused enough, we could hear every conversation if we wanted to.  This was obvious when a table of about 6 women got seated at a table near the front door, some of them laughed and talked very loudly.  My husband and I just found it funny and didn't let that bother us.  However, when the restaurant is filled on busier days, it might be a different story. Our server, Patrick, was very nice and attentive.  Since they did not list drinks on their menu except those with alcohol, I asked him about non-alcoholic drinks.  After a brief "discussion", he asked me to leave it to him to make me a drink with mango.  He came up with a beautiful drink that was good and refreshing, with some mango flavor.  It was Virgin Paloma on our receipt for $8, which was reasonable.  He was very polite and checked in on us several times at appropriate times during our dinner.  The pace of the dinner was good, we spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes in the restaurant. Patrick might be the only waiter serving all the tables that evening, though. I also ordered Grilled Octopus ($22) which was very good, tender and flavorful, but was a little too salty to my taste.  The small pita bread wedges were warm and fluffy with some crispy edges, the beet hummus was creamy, and everything was delicious and tasted fresh.  I generously shared 2 little bites of octopus with my husband and I finished the entire plate, it was so good!  My husband really liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) and I shared a bite of that too.  He also had a House Salad for $6, that was a very good value.  He enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc Crossing ($12) too.  We also shared an order of Crème Brulee ($8), that was creamy and cooked perfectly.  We ordered a takeout order of Rigatoni with Sausage ($23), that was a good portion, and was still delicious and al dente the next day after being microwaved. I am so happy that we found Social Inn - a hidden gem in Plaza del Prado, it's not far from home, with comfortable and beautiful ambiance, excellent service (from Patrick), an attractive menu with enticing food (fresh ingredients and appealing plating), and reasonable prices, we will definitely be back!

We were in the area late in the day and remembered Social Inn was open, so we went. We ordered a variety of items. I had the Social Burger (at least 1/2 pound), we also ordered their chicken dinner salad and the beet hummus. Everything was delicious. I did order my burger medium and it was delivered well done, but it was still good. They also have one of the best gluten-free buns I've ever had. I do wish they were open at lunch time still, but I understand they need to be open for their busiest hours. Social Inn is a great option when you are in the Glenview area.

First impression walking in was NOT great. We immediately smelled what can only be described as a VERY DIRTY bathroom smell. Other than the smell which we couldn't stop smelling until we ate and had some wine. The server was great to let us know that it was half off bottles of wine. And since the glass we initially wanted they didn't have this was a great option for us. We weren't able to finish the bottle so the server closed it up and sealed it in a bag for us to take with us. (Tuscan blend which was delicious) We ordered the Lobster Bisque to share to start with. The server/kitchen were kind enough to split it for us into two bowls. Overall the soup was good but NOT great. Then we ordered a bone in Ribeye (22oz) which came with crispy new potatoes and some some sautéed brocollini. We ordered the steak Medium Rare, it came out Medium + and since we were never checked in with on the temperature we ate it anyhow. The flavor was good but definitely far overcooked. The crispy new potatoes were perfectly crispy and the broccolini was sautéed and cooked very well. At the end of the day the service saved our experience. BUT because of the smell and the mis-cooked steak we would not return.

The sweet kale salad was very large, easy to share, and had a nice dressing. The crunch potatoes straws were also a good touch to the dish. So far a great start to the dinner. For entrees we ordered the grilled chicken giardiniera and NY strip. Both of these were subpar and did not live up to our expectations. The NY strip was bland and did not have a nice texture to it. Moreover, the grilled chicken dish was way overcooked and very dry. The chicken itself lacked flavor and did not have much seasoning on it. The only flavor came from the peppers on top. The positive parts of the entrees were the large portions and side of potatoes. The chicken dish came with 3 chicken breasts and a healthy amount of potatoes. Our server was kind, and the restaurant had a nice vibe to it. When I went, only a couple of tables were occupied so it was pretty quiet when I dined in. I believe they only take reservations for parties of 8+, but even at busy times we generally don't wait more than 10-15 minutes once we put our names down. This is a huge restaurant with a large dining space. There is a huge video screen on one wall and they are often playing K-Pop and top 40 music videos, which creates a very cool vibe. We've eaten here a few times, and every time our server asks if it's our first time, which is great as we've had new people with us, and it was our first time once, which offers an opportunity to learn how it works here. The grill is in the center of the table and everything is cooked by yourself at the table. Each person is also given a set of sauce dishes, and then there are some picked veggies for the table as well (these are delicious do not sleep on these). Our absolute favorite here is the Hawaiian bulgogi, which is so tender and a little sweet, full of flavor and we will never leave without getting at least one round of this. We have also tried the regular (beef) bulgogi, the spicy pork bulgogi, pork belly, the brisket, and the iron age steak. There is some need to know things like pork has to be cooked through and beef can be cooked rare, but it's a very easy set up and process the way the meats are cut and how the grill cooks. All of the cuts of meat we've tried have been high quality and seemed fresh. We've also tried some of the side options, including spicy rice cakes, vegetables, and kimchi. The first time we came we also we given some sort of salad for the table, and that was also delicious. I love the grillable vegetables and the kimchi here is super tasty. While it is described as spicy, I did not find it to be so, but very flavorful. White rice is also served in individual bowls to each person at the table. This is an "all you can eat" situation and we found the price to be incredibly affordable (especially compared to other AYCE restaurants). Although we always leave so full and satisfied, I've never felt leaving grossly overstuffed. The food is delicious and high quality and we have really enjoyed each experience here. The staff are moving quickly and this is not a "small talk with your server" type experience as far as we've had. They have been kind, answered all our questions, and work very efficiently. Iron Age has quickly become a date night rotation staple and we can't wait to come back. Thank you, Iron Age!
