Iron Age Korean Steakhouse in Glenview was a really fun experience. This is definitely a place you go for the atmosphere and the experience just as much as the food. Cooking the meats right at the table, trying different options, and hanging out with friends makes it a great night out. The food was okay -- some items were better than others -- but overall the variety and all-you-can-eat concept make it enjoyable. Iron Age (Glenview) is one of my favorite dinner spots when we're looking for a night out. There's a large parking lot, so parking is no issue here. I believe they only take reservations for parties of 8+, but even at busy times we generally don't wait more than 10-15 minutes once we put our names down. This is a huge restaurant with a large dining space. There is a huge video screen on one wall and they are often playing K-Pop and top 40 music videos, which creates a very cool vibe. We've eaten here a few times, and every time our server asks if it's our first time, which is great as we've had new people with us, and it was our first time once, which offers an opportunity to learn how it works here. The grill is in the center of the table and everything is cooked by yourself at the table. Each person is also given a set of sauce dishes, and then there are some picked veggies for the table as well (these are delicious do not sleep on these). Our absolute favorite here is the Hawaiian bulgogi, which is so tender and a little sweet, full of flavor and we will never leave without getting at least one round of this. We have also tried the regular (beef) bulgogi, the spicy pork bulgogi, pork belly, the brisket, and the iron age steak. There is some need to know things like pork has to be cooked through and beef can be cooked rare, but it's a very easy set up and process the way the meats are cut and how the grill cooks. All of the cuts of meat we've tried have been high quality and seemed fresh. We've also tried some of the side options, including spicy rice cakes, vegetables, and kimchi. The first time we came we also we given some sort of salad for the table, and that was also delicious. I love the grillable vegetables and the kimchi here is super tasty. While it is described as spicy, I did not find it to be so, but very flavorful. White rice is also served in individual bowls to each person at the table. This is an "all you can eat" situation and we found the price to be incredibly affordable (especially compared to other AYCE restaurants). Although we always leave so full and satisfied, I've never felt leaving grossly overstuffed. The food is delicious and high quality and we have really enjoyed each experience here. The staff are moving quickly and this is not a "small talk with your server" type experience as far as we've had. They have been kind, answered all our questions, and work very efficiently. I think this place was definitely cute and aesthetic especially with the kpop videos. My friend really liked the songs. The service was good too. Our server was kind and quick to get us new meats, switch the grill, and fill our waters. This place is AYCE and we got the dinner so that was $35 with tax. It just has more meats than the lunch special like we were able to get steak and seasoned steak. The seasoned steak wasn't really anything crazy just like a little bit of salt and pepper. The spicy chicken also wasn't that spicy to us. I think the steaks were really fatty anyways and I would probably prefer to come for lunch. I loved the hawaiian bulgogi though. It was sweet and tender due to the pineapple juice. It also had three pineapple chucks. They have their own sauces. One felt like mayo mustardy, another sesame oil with salt, a sweet thin brown sauce, and a spicy red one. It also came with radishes. My favorite part was probably the salad. The dressing was like spicy and tangy. It was so good. The crunchy lettuce is exactly what I need with so much protein and rice. Our waitress was really nice, however, as time went by our table and grill wasn't tended to and the meat pieces and remains started falling through the grill. This caused them to catch on fire a bit and a waiter(that wasn't ours) came by and aggressively addressed the situation. He immediately went to blaming us and saying phrases like "what the hell are you guys doing" we didn't even have time to respond before he just took the grill and left. I understand tending to things like this are important at Kbbq places, however, the issue wasn't ours and the aggressive language towards customers is not needed. He was wearing glasses, super skinny jeans, and a wolf cut that looked like it came straight out of 2020, he also had glasses. It made us feel awkward and lose our appetite. Iron Age is a cool Korean bbq spot that feels a bit elevated. It's a busy spot so get on the waitlist as soon as you can, but once you get seated it's a fairly quick process to get your banchan, drinks, and start ordering your proteins. I do wish there was a few more banchan options. They had kimchi, pickled turnip (I think), and maybe two other veggies. I think they could layer in a cucumber kimchi or sweet cucumber, braised potatoes, and some type of fish item. It would just round it out more. They do have the option to order Japchae and I really loved theirs. I went with a friend on a busy weekend and we ended up seated in one of the communal tables. It was fun chatting with the other groups around us so I wouldn't be opposed to doing this again, but if that's not your vibe, you may want to wait for a booth. I think the name Iron Age is an interesting choice for this AYCE BBQ. It was chosen because of the similarity when people would cook over open fires similar to the Korean BBQ experience cooking on a built in grill at the table. However, very much anachronistic in every other way : loud music, KPOP videos on entire walls/screens covering the entire restaurant, blue lighting, and modern light fixtures. The atmosphere is Electric! The menu appeared to have a wide selection of meats, however, it all felt like it was the same. The bulgogi and Hawaiian Bulgogi was the difference of literally 3 pineapple chunks. The steak and seasoned steak was the difference of the Montreal Steak Seasoning. Regardless, it still satiated the Korean BBQ cravings. The server was friendly and attentive. I was happy that He came to change the grill top several times and fill water/drink orders frequently. Been here many times and truly no complaints . Came in on a Friday night dinner at 6 waiting 20 only 20 minutes . Waiter was so kind and attentive even being there he knew giving us food recommendations would make it so much easier for us . K-pop routinely played on multiple large screens and definitely speaking louder than I would like . The food does not disappoint the usual Korean bbq list of meats AYCE $32 but nothing out of the ordinary , I will say I would hoped for more banchan options but they do have the usual salad rice ricecakes japchae kimchi pickled radish . Hey fellow Yelpers! This was my first time going to Iron Age location in Glenview, IL. I went with my boyfriend, my parents, my uncle, & my aunt. We went around 11:30 am - 12 pm and it wasn't busy which was awesome. We were waiting for my parents to come, but the waiter seated us. Customer Service: The staff were friendly. We were seated right away. The waiters were awesome about giving us our food and switching out the grill plate when it needed to be switched out. Food/Drinks: The food was really good! I only had Korean BBQ one other time in my life and I thought it was good, but I think Iron Age may be my go-to Korean BBQ spot. Bathroom: The bathrooms are located towards the back of the restaurant. They were very clean. In the ladies room, there are only 3 stalls. Overall Experience: Overall, I had a great experience at Iron Age at the Glenview, IL location. The staff were friendly, it was clean, & delicious food. Love coming back here. Got seated right away. First time to see that the place was not that full, but after a few moments, the place was packed. The place is pretty big and clean. Positive note: The brisket, steak and all the sides are my favorites. They're very generous with their portions so you don't have to keep asking for more (except for their cheese corn). The disappointing parts: took awhile to give us our drinks, even water. No server to be found most of the time we were there so everything took patience to get. I've always wanted to go to the OG spot. I've been to the Wicker Park location before and it was good. My experience here was delicious too! This location is pretty big but they can get really busy. No reservations are taken so you may have to wait. Service was quick and efficient! We started with 4 proteins - spicy squid, iron age steak, Hawaiian bulgogi, and porkchop. Followed by the porkbelly and brisket. Every meat was soo good and flavorful! The porkbelly was the crowd favorite. I could've ate like 20 of the rice cakes. One visit to Iron Age Glenview and you will instantly note that this place hits like no other. It's a cavernous space with an eclectic mix of club-like lighting, a huge spread of tables with built-in grills, and videos splashed on the walls featuring endless K-pop and music. The menu is simple: A wealth of all-you-can eat choices with several perfectly paired sides. For sides my faves are the Spicy Rice Cake and salad. For the meats: Spicy Pork bulgogi, Spicy Pork Steak, and the Beef Brisket. To wash it all down, how about $3/$4 drafts...for me a 20 ounce Heineken...just adds to the joy. As if this isn't enough, Iron Age sets patrons with four spectacular sauces that seal the deal for what is always a GREAT meal each and every time. Service is friendly and attentive...I appreciate their effort. There is a delicate balance between all-you-can-eat offerings and meal pacing. Normally when we go get Korean food, we don't do KBBQ. We get the restaurant to cook our food lol. In this case, we were visiting from out of town and my cousin recommended we visit this place and we had the best meal ever. The food was fresh and sooooo flavorful. Their speciality Iron Age steak was so tender. The sauces were delish- love that there was a variety. Also, the sides were amazing- gotta get the tteokbokki! Service was great- they were very attentive to the grill fire and changed out the rack when needed. Ambiance was nice- a little dim with Korean drama playing on the large screen. Well, we finally made it into this place and it lived up to the hype. We really enjoyed our weekday AYCE Korean BBQ lunch for $22 per person. They have a huge space and it wasn't very crowded and we much prefer that situation over waiting up to 3 hours (I was told) on a weekend night. I can see why they have high ratings - the place is spacious, clean, and comfortable, and they have great attentive service, great variety of quality meat and veggie offerings, quite good value, a chill vibe, lively k-pop music, and to boot not much Korean BBQ smell on our clothes after the meal! Turbo was our friendly and attentive young receptionist and server. Wife and I had a variety of their offerings - pork belly, beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi, Hawaiian bulgogi, beef brisket, steamed eggs, japchae, veggies, and white rice. It was all delicious though we did prefer the beef over the pork meats but they were all nice to try. For what we got, the value here was very good. An AYCE k-bbq in this neighborhood probably makes a killing! Currently, it's $22/pp for lunch and $29/pp for dinner. Kids 9 and under are significantly less, depending on age. What to expect: you tell the server what to bring out, you'll be cooking your own proteins, and flag your server down if you need refills on anything. We came here on a Tuesday night, and there was no wait at 6:30 PM although the parking lot was almost full, but we noticed more tables getting filled up around 7:00 PM and our service was slightly slower thereafter. Our faves were the thin beef brisket that was on the leaner side (must dip it in the sesame oil sauce), Iron Age marinated steak (soy, garlic, and slightly sweet), steamed egg (this takes a bit longer to cook than the proteins and is very small), and the lettuce to make lettuce wraps. The spicy squid was ok (unusually tender, almost mushy), and the plain pork belly was our least favorite because it was... plain. For those with food allergies: our server (#26) went to the kitchen to ask about our allergens. He said there are no nuts in any of the food, sesame oil is used in the sauces and some meats (Hawaiian and bulgogi), and sesame seeds are only in the japchae noodles. The only downsides are that they don't have short rib (galbi), the panchan (sides) are really small so we kept asking for refills, and they don't make the fried rice at the end of the meal. We also didn't care for the 3 other sauces (salsa?, mayo?, and diluted soy sauce?), and their panchan variety overall was lacking, but you're coming here for protein anyway. Overall, it was a great value, service was really good, and the atmosphere was lively! Our server was very polite and friendly and changed our grill tops after every meat. They play Korean music videos on the screens. Last thing: I have gone here about 30 mins before closing and have been turned away. This is because most people stay for 1 - 1.5 hours to eat, so you should arrive at least an hour before closing to be respectful of their time. read more

Went Saturday for lunch with my wife and was seated right away towards the back where it was dark and isolated from other patrons, but decided to move to the front and was served very well by Amar who was very helpful and knowledgeable of the cuts of meats and style on cooking them, the place was club style with K-Pop music playing as well as MTV on the screen, parking is plenty . Ate here over the weekend and got the cyclosporiasis virus after eating their lettuce wraps and salad. Both me and my friend contracted it after eating here. We tried to report it to them and their response was ridiculous. Told us that "because I thought of it I got it". Also stated that they washed their lettuce but almost all the reports have stated it can't be washed off it has to be cooked for decontamination to be effective. As others have noted, service at this huge, very busy all-you-can eat Korean BBQ restaurant is pleasant but poor. The servers work as a team and are ao short staffed (versus the number of patrons continuously needing refills of drinks and food) that diners end up waiting for their next refill of meat to arrive. We came with two couples and enjoyed the place and the food. Fortunately we weren't terribly hungry or we would have been upset that we couldn't eat more aggressively for lack of service. The building is filled with smoke from all the grills, and the ventilation does not keep up on the window section where we were seated. However, the center dining room was extremely noisy and visually stimulating from the video screens; so we weren't terribly hungry glad to be seated in the booth assigned. This is the only one thats AYCE in the area that's close. Upon arrival we are greeting by the hostess that said it would take 10-15 mins (we had a party of 4) pretty soon we had been seated down. The seats are lowkey hard and not comfortable and me being on the taller end, had a hard time getting into the booth and having leg room. So we ordered our food and it got there pretty quickly! I wish there was a bit more side options on the menu and some more marinated meat options. Was hoping forward to some intestines. Sadly it was not on there. Our server "REN" was so nice and handsome hahah. Great customer service and super friendly Too! He was so busy I literally felt so bad but he was so attentive. Thank you !!! Iron Age is 1 of my favorite AYCE Korean BBQ spots of all times. They provide numerous protein options of great quality and their sides are a must. They get packed daily, majority of the time they have their online waitlist turned off. You'll have to get your name on the list at the restaurant vs doing it yourself. The vibe here is of a night club. Minimum lighting inside however there are lights at each table. The KPop music was very loud which made it a challenge to have a conversation with the group I was with. Every time I've been here the food has been exceptional. My favorites are the beef brisket, steak, pork belly and spicy squid. Their sides are just as delicious and plentiful. I like that they provide veggies to grill as well. Iron Age has been the only KKQ spot that I've been to that gives veggies to grill. Service for us was very quick. Our waters were constantly replenished and your server checked in at the perfect times to get our next protein order in and cooked up. They limit your seating time to 2 hours which is more than enough time to leave with an overly full and happy belly. read more

Never been to this location since it's been Iron Age but have been here under last versions. I wasn't expecting much due to those past experiences but I was pleasantly surprised. The service was great and the grills and food were replaced frequently. My favorite ended up being the spicy squid. The garlic sauce was very salty. My first bite of steak with that was quite a surprise. But I learned right then and there a little goes a long way. The other three sauces were very good. We had a group of 5 and our server made sure we knew about the extra charge for the bigger group. Pickled radishes and kimchee were pretty spot on. At least for my taste. Japchae, great. Came here with my multi-generational family (from great-grandparents down to toddlers). I will say it's probably not my style of atmosphere for this stage of life. The music is loud. K-pop music videos are projected on all three big walls. It's bombastic. (Perhaps distracted our kids from eating well). That said, if you are young, childless for the night, or looking for a fun night out and getting food coma with friends (and not deep, meaningful conversation) then this is a lively place to be. It's busy, so take that into account too. You'll probably have to wait for a table for a bit. We had a really sweet server. She checked in on us frequently enough that we didn't feel neglected, and there are lots of tables. What we got: - Bulgogi This was probably my favorite. I think they marinate it like galbi, so it was sweet and savory and smoky. Super tender. This surprised me because I don't usually like bulgogi (sometimes it can be too sweet). - Chadolbaegi This was ok. It's cut a little thicker than I'm used to, so the texture wasn't quite as light. And maybe this was a little more leaner than others--which may be good or bad depending on your tastes. - Samgyupsal Eek. This was a bit tough and dry to me. Maybe a fluke? Maybe cooking error? Not sure I would waste stomach space on this either way. - Lemon Chicken Surprisingly juicy and tender! If you want non-red meat then try this! - Shrimp This was ok. Texture wasn't very snappy, actually it was a bit mushy? Probably wouldn't waste stomach space on this either unless you are avoiding red meat and need an alternative option. - Japchae Standard and plain--really good option for kids. It has no protein, no mushrooms. Really basic, but not bland. I mean this in the best way when you have picky eaters at the table. - Steamed egg This was kind of fun. Usually it comes as a side dish already made, but this came in a little foil tin and you have to grill it yourself. But it was made in a broth or something that made it taste unique. Overall, for AYCE korean bbq it's good. Compared to places like Mr. Kimchi, this one doesn't come with a lot of variety of banchan (side dishes). So it kind of lacks versatility there. Our kids usually love the veggie side dishes, but here there wasn't much they ate so it didn't feel worth the price. Maybe this is cheaper per person though, which can be worth it. Just one thought: where are the ventilation fans?? With the tallest ceilings, I wasn't sure the vents up there were doing much of anything. I much prefer the places where there's one over every grill/table. I feel like it was really smoky inside, but maybe that's all just psychological. read more

Large, loud, lively KBBQ with great large group service and solid meats. Price $40ish | Rating 8/10. For a friends birthday we made a reservation for 54 people at 7:30. We were seated on time in groups of 15 and all were next to each other even on this busy night. One group of 10 was seated late but cant blame the staff for two people who just wouldn't leave even when they were not eating. To handle us all the server ASKED first if he could bring us the popular favorites and we agreed making the whole process much smoother. Pork belly and brisket came first and both were stellar. Next was bulgogi and beef steak. My only complaint where these two came in portions too big for the group so we couldn't finish. We also ordered a beer tower and got to roam and chat during our meal. Oh wow, for cheaper than going out to a habachi restaurant, about the same price as getting some sushi, and half the price of a Brazilian steakhouse, you can enjoy the amazing flavors, textures, and aromas of Korean BBQ at Iron Age Korean Steakhouse. This is a perfect way to enjoy a special celebration with awesome service, the fun of cooking the meats together as a party, and getting lots of great pictures at a very reasonable price compared to other premium food options. It's also great that the restaurant is quite large and there's plenty of parking, so this works out as a nice gathering spot for large groups as well. The food here is just as great as the setup and the service. Everything I tried was delicious, which I had concerns about, since the price of the all you can eat (AYCE) is only slightly more than the price of 1 plate at many other KBBQ restaurants. But everything I had was fresh, tender, flavorful, and provided in generous portions. In particular, I loved the nice crispiness and firm crunch of the pork belly, the addictive flavor of both their beef and pork bulgogi options, the tenderness of their steak, and the flavor of their beef brisket. Really, every meat was prepared quite well and impressive -- being quite juicy even when I may have overcooked some parts a bit. For some of the trickier meats (pork, chicken, shrimp, and squid), the staff was very helpful in helping us to cook it thoroughly and answer any questions my party had. They did a great job of refilling drinks and sauces throughout the night and engaging in some conversation. For the sides, the spicy rice cake as not too spicy but it had a great firmness and full bodied flavor to it. The Japchae also had a great firmness to the noodles and good strong sesame flavor. Overall, I will definitely return here again. For the price, you get a great selection of delicious options and the food here is consistently impressive. read more

Iron Age is one of the few Korean bbq places in the area. Located in the same plaza as kong dog, tous les jour and more. When you walk into Iron Age you have to check in with the host stand, and your whole party must be there to be seated. Be sure to join the Yelp waitlist online to save yourself some wait time upon arrival it's always a game changer for us. It is all you can eat, so be sure to wear your stretchy pants. You can order 3 meats at a time, and there are tons of sides. Keep in mind they do run out of sides if you end up going a bit later in the night. The decor is very K-pop oriented but tons of fun nonetheless. They off 4 different sauces for you to dip with and rice is included whole as other places each rice bowl is an additional cost. We tried the mango soju and it was so yummy, it tasted like juice but drinking a few of them will definitely get you if you're not ready for it! Was hunting for a kbbq nearby and heard about Iron Age. Came here to try their lunch special on wednesday. We got here just when it opened so not too crowded but surprisingly a lot of people started filling in. We were seated pretty quickly and a very nice server came to help us with ordering and showing us how to get everything done. The space and ambiance was nice and lively but not too loud. We went through a good round of all the beef and pork, our favorite was the beef bulgogi, hawaiian bulgogi and the garlic pork. Brisket was good but nothing crazy. For the sides, I got the spicy rice cake, japchae, salad and steamed egg. The japchae was the best out of that. The rice cake, salad and steamed egg were okay. Overall, food was decent, nothing crazy. Service was very good and our server was very attentive and nice. She definitely made the experience a good time. read more
