If you are craving a fried chicken sandwich, Fry the Coop is the place to go. The restaurant is decorated simple but nice and clean. Friendly staff. Somehow I feel better knowing the chicken and fries are fried in beef tallow versus other oils. The chicken is juicy with yummy breading. I like the coleslaw on the chicken sandwich. The fries are tasty too! Consistently good food. Yum!

This place is such a mess and so inconsistent. I went recently and if I hadn't checked before leaving, they would have sent me home with a large coleslaw instead of large pickles. But of course I didn't taste the actual food until I got home, which is when I found out that it was a higher heat level than I ordered. Both me and my significant other remarked upon this. We always order medium--that's been the heat level for years--and they gave us one at least a level up. I couldn't eat it and it gave me a stomach ache. Lastly, they almost never have mac and cheese. I came between 4-5 pm and thought surely they'd have it since it was fairly early on a weekday and would give my toddler another option for what to eat, but they were out. If they're constantly out, wouldn't that suggest maybe they could make a little more? Worst of all I can't say I won't return because it may be the only one that has a drive-through, and since my daughter's often with me I need to pick and choose how often I get her out of her car seat since she can be difficult about it sometimes. Just wish I could count on this place to actually get it right more often than not, but they have a terrible track record.

The medium Nashville style hot chicken sandwich and fries were great. Fries were amazingly crispy. Chicken crispy and great tasting. Medium wasn't hot enough for me. Cole slaw on top was great.

It was delicious! Went for lunch and chicken patty was big and juicy! You just pick your heat spice preference and which sandwich. I absolutely love the mac and cheese it's got a lil flare to it. Cute place and clean, staff and manager were super nice and asked to take our dirty trays after eating. Great experience.

Visited this location again with my son and it was excellent. He tried the "Tender Flight" chicken challenge which he said was the hottest food he's ever had at a restaurant. I had the nuggets and seasoned fries. It was great

Came back to order from here after many years due to its inconsistency and poor service. Not to my surprise I had a terrible experience with my take out today. Food looks great and well seasoned but it has no taste. I don't get it. Chicken is dryer than the desert and had spots of pink in one of the sandwich (I know they double fry so it could've been just the chicken and not undercooked). The breading on the chicken is rock hard and dry, chicken on the inside dry, coleslaw has no flavor, pickles look deprived of hydration. The only thing this has going is the coop sauce which I barely had enough of on my sandwich. I'm so underwhelmed especially because I chose to come here instead of other hot chicken places. I called the store to explain my issue, but THEY NEVER ANSWER. It just hangs up after 20 rings. Whatever is going on here with fast cook times, it must be convenient but the food is terrible. What a waste of money.

I went to Fry the Coop to get a take out order. When you enter the restaurant you will notice what a fun place this is. From the colorful and fun decorations to the plants, this is an inviting atmosphere. I ordered the chicken and waffles. I was very happy with the food. The chicken and waffle reheated well in my air fryer. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, especially when paired with the sauce that was included. The waffle also crisped back up nicely after being air fried. I didn't taste the pearl sugar as much as I did the bacon. There was A LOT of bacon in there! I was very happy with my experience and look forward to going back. I highly recommend Fry the Coop!

I went here for lunch on Saturday. Pretty empty. The menu is pretty basic - maybe 10 items. I went with the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with mild. I wish I would have gotten hotter. Fries were a bit cold. Portion size was good. I actually went to downtown Nashville a day later and had Nashville hot chicken two days in a row. I had a good comparison. I want to come back here and try a hotter temperature. It's hard to beat some of the more famous places in Nashville like Hatties but being so far away in Chicago, this place is still good. Fried chicken is all the rage these days.

We drive past Grill House all the time, it has been in Northbrook for a long time (I just found out…read morethat it's been here for 9 years), however, this was the first time that we ever visited, and I am happy that we finally did! My husband and I wanted a quick and good dinner one Sunday recently, and we picked Grill House after I read some good reviews on Yelp.  Although it's a casual, fast-food-style restaurant, the menu is surprisingly extensive, with a wide variety of healthy Greek dishes. It was definitely helpful to look over their menu online before we visited, because the menu board inside could be a bit overwhelming.  I guess I still looked quite confused when I saw 2 kiosks in front of the ordering counter.  A staff behind the counter offered to help, and I just ordered directly with him.  Later of the evening I discovered that he's the friendly owner Gus. After placing our order at the counter, we were given a table number, and our food was delivered promptly.  I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Plate ($17.50 at the time, it's now listed online for $18), while my husband ordered a Filet Mignon Souvlaki Plate ($25.50).  Each souvlaki plate included a soup or salad, rice and potato (1 piece), a side of veggies, and pita bread in a paper bag.  It was a generous amount of food! We both chose the lentil soup, which was served piping hot in a nice ceramic bowl with a lid. It was flavorful and comforting. My chicken souvlaki was tender and juicy, never dry, and both the rice and potato were delicious. We were both impressed with the quality and value of the meal. I ordered a lemonade, which is considered a fountain drink ($4.00) and comes with free refills, though I couldn't even finish my first glass. My husband would have ordered a glass of wine if we hadn't had plans afterward, so we were happy to see that Grill House also serves beer and wine for a future visit. The service was another highlight. Everyone was warm and welcoming; a special shout-out to Kevin, who was very attentive and checked in on us several times.  When I was taking photos around the restaurant, the owner Gus greeted me again, which was a nice personal touch. The restaurant itself was bright, clean, and inviting. There's also a pleasant patio for those who prefer to dine outdoors. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from their extensive menu.  I am glad that we finally gave Grill House a try!

I stopped in on a Wednesday around 7:15 pm; it was comfortably busy, and parking was easy in the large parking lot. I accidentally entered through the back door that was right by where I parked, but was warmly welcomed by Jimena, who explained it was table service and she would be my server. I chose a standard table and was seated at a cozy two-top facing a beautiful, full-length bar and two TVs. The colorful Mexican décor and warm vibe made it feel like dining among neighbors and friends. I started with a refreshing Jamaica agua fresca brewed from dried hibiscus flowers ($4.50), it's slightly sweet and floral and served in a mason jar. For food, I ordered the Baja Fish Taco ($6) and the Short Rib Taco ($7.50). The fish taco featured crispy beer-battered cod with coleslaw, cilantro, cheese, lime, and chipotle aioli on a cheese-crusted tortilla, it was delicious, but I wish the fish had been a bit thicker. The 24-hour braised short rib taco topped with pickled red onions, cilantro, and avocado was rich and flavorful. The red salsa was a bit watered down with not much flavor, but the taco was flavorful and didn't need it. I was already full but couldn't resist to order the Mexican Key Lime Pie ($8). It was beautifully presented and drew attention from the table of 4 next to me. I enjoyed a couple of bites and took the rest home. It was quite tart but was balanced well by the abundance of whipped cream. Overall, it was a lovely experience. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and satisfying food. I'm happy to have such a solid Mexican spot in the neighborhood and look forward to returning with my family to explore more of the menu.

On a weekday evening, as expected, the restaurant was not busy.  We were promptly seated at a 4-top table (2 × 2-top) against the right wall, with some other 2-tops on both sides.  Like many reviewers had mentioned, the venue was beautiful, modern and chic. There were 7 tables occupied, including us.  The music that they had was not too loud, just that customers' conversations were amplified by the box shape open dining area.  If we focused enough, we could hear every conversation if we wanted to.  This was obvious when a table of about 6 women got seated at a table near the front door, some of them laughed and talked very loudly.  My husband and I just found it funny and didn't let that bother us.  However, when the restaurant is filled on busier days, it might be a different story. Our server, Patrick, was very nice and attentive.  Since they did not list drinks on their menu except those with alcohol, I asked him about non-alcoholic drinks.  After a brief "discussion", he asked me to leave it to him to make me a drink with mango.  He came up with a beautiful drink that was good and refreshing, with some mango flavor.  It was Virgin Paloma on our receipt for $8, which was reasonable.  He was very polite and checked in on us several times at appropriate times during our dinner.  The pace of the dinner was good, we spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes in the restaurant. Patrick might be the only waiter serving all the tables that evening, though. I also ordered Grilled Octopus ($22) which was very good, tender and flavorful, but was a little too salty to my taste.  The small pita bread wedges were warm and fluffy with some crispy edges, the beet hummus was creamy, and everything was delicious and tasted fresh.  I generously shared 2 little bites of octopus with my husband and I finished the entire plate, it was so good!  My husband really liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) and I shared a bite of that too.  He also had a House Salad for $6, that was a very good value.  He enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc Crossing ($12) too.  We also shared an order of Crème Brulee ($8), that was creamy and cooked perfectly.  We ordered a takeout order of Rigatoni with Sausage ($23), that was a good portion, and was still delicious and al dente the next day after being microwaved. I am so happy that we found Social Inn - a hidden gem in Plaza del Prado, it's not far from home, with comfortable and beautiful ambiance, excellent service (from Patrick), an attractive menu with enticing food (fresh ingredients and appealing plating), and reasonable prices, we will definitely be back!

Then, we discovered that the McDonald's which had been on this location for decades had permanently closed! What did we do? We visited the Love's Yogurt right next to it instead. The yogurt store was empty at this off-peak time. My husband struck a conversation with Henry, who had been the owner of the store for 18 years. He was very friendly and said that Love's had opened at this location for 38 years! It was the first time that we ever visited! Why? Because when there was a McDonald's right next to a yogurt shop, we chose McDonald's, haha. I looked at their menu board and saw smoothies, and I thought they were $6.50 each. I ordered a Henry's Special Smoothie which included mango, pineapple, coconut with pineapple juice and Love's French Vanilla Yogurt. My husband ordered a small vanilla yogurt for $4.05. The receipt came up to $13.77, with no itemization, just one total amount. Then I politely asked Henry, and found out that Henry's Special was $8.50. Henry's Special did not have a price on the small smoothie menu, and it was not on the wall menu board. When I looked at the picture that I took of the menu board at home, I noticed that all the other smoothies seemed to be originally $6.50, but at some points in time the prices were manually changed with an 8 written over 6, and the one on the top line still looked like a 6 to me from a distance. Forgive my less than perfect vision. I found that kind of funny. Before Henry went inside to prepare my smoothie, he was brushing away some debris on the countertop with his bare hands. I did not see him wearing gloves the entire time. Well, like a Chinese saying, "if you don't see it, just consider it being clean", haha. The Henry's Special was pretty good. It's creamy, sweet but not too sweet, and every sip had coconut bits in it. I just wish that the mango flavor could be a little stronger. Husband said that his yogurt was standard. It was a surprise that they also sell other savory items such as soups, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. The shop was clean and rather nostalgic looking. Henry said that McDonald's next door closed because the landlord increased their rent 2 to 3 folds. He said that they still have 20 months left on their lease, and hope that the rent would not increase too much. Otherwise, he would have to retire too. I hope not.
