We were in a family trip and stayed one night in Eugene, Oregon. We were about to drive the next day to Washington but we notice that our van was shaking when my husband started the engine and the lights on the dashboard was showing VSC/ Trac off/engine check light was flashing. We didn't know anybody around the area so we checked on yelp and it shows Joe's Garage and read the feedbacks fr. there previous customers so we drove there very slowly. We were greeted by Mr. Darin Davis the owner of the automotive shop. He was very helpful and direct to the point and did not give us excuses and was able to fixed the problem of our car less than 1 hour. read more

We hit a rock with our Subaru and bent the driver side tire rod end. My daughter was the one who did it and took it in and made arrangements for them to fix it. The estimated cost was $450. When we checked with them later the estimated cost was $2400. She was going to have to pay for It with her own funds which are fairly meager. We then decided that we would have someone else do it at a less expensive charge and they made it abundantly clear that we were to be charge for an evaluation fee. This was not discussed with her ahead of time and neither was the $2400. I have no idea if they would've done a good job but their ethics prior to this strike me as being very suspect. Had issues with car shutting down, icons flashing, intermittent starting and stopping. Diagnosis advised replacing battery and alternator. Problem still occurring. Had car there for 8 days to observe and test drive. Long story short the wiring harness was the culprit. During the 8 day stay the car was returned extremely dusty and sap from a tree had run down the windows and stained the paint with two new scratches that were not there previously. The owner was a very nice fellow and did see the fix through to the end. I paid $1500.00 for the original work that did not cure the problem but did get the problem resolved at no extra cost when they had it for several more days of diagnosis. So it did get fixed. I found the owner to be trustworthy and honest but was flummoxed to not get the scratches taken care of and to be given the car back in such poor condition. I do think he realized that the issue with the dirt/dust, sap, stain and scratches were their fault since it had apparently been parked under a tree in a cramped lot across the street. The car should not have been given back in that condition. After getting home I sent pictures to him immediately after inspecting showing the sap stains and scratches but he has elected not to take care of the two scratches when the car was in their care. Car running good after several months but scratches are still there. With all being said I was satisfied with the end result but dissatisfied with the scratches not being taken care of when the car was in their care for the 8 day period. Great experience, start to finish. I ended up with a flat tire a few blocks from the shop coincidentally, so I ended up there simply because it was closer than my regular shop and I was able to limp it across the street. They were able to swap the tire with the spare within ten minutes of my arrival despite being in the middle of a busy workday. They ordered an exact match that day (tire had a nasty cut really close to the wall) and had it installed early the next morning. It cost me $188 in total, the tire was $160, just a hair over what I could find online. The labor cost was a steal considering the turnaround. Overall, I would absolutely consider going to them again over my usual favorite, Bob James Auto in Eugene, just a few blocks away. read more

Originally thought that my alternator was busted, so I made the decision to schedule an appointment at Joe's based off of all the good reviews that I'd read on here... So I drop my car off to have it done and later the mechanic calls to inform me that it just needs a new battery.. wanting to charge me 120 bucks for labor. I told them nevermind, because that takes me five minutes to do myself. When I had arrived to retrieve my vehicle they had locked my keys in it...very sloppy and unprofessional..almost felt like they did it on purpose because I didn't want to give them 120.00 for a five minute procedure...be careful read more

I was on a road trip and stopped into Joe's for a quick oil change. They saw some filters that needed changing and gave me a call while I was walking around town to quote a price and see if I wanted to proceed. I said yes, and the work was done efficiently and for a reasonable price. However, fast forward a bit, and my car is having serious issues. At one point five different warning lights were on, it had broken down twice, and two trips to a mechanic hadn't identified or solved the problem. I went to a more competent mechanic the third time, and he identified the issue as a filter installed wrong causing the computer to go crazy and think everything was going wrong. That was a lot of stress, a lot of time and inconvenience, and around $250 of work to solve a problem that stemmed from the filter change at Joe's. They were quite nice, the oil change was efficient, and the price was reasonable. If not for the filter this would be a five, but that was a serious mess up on their part. read more

Why can't all mechanic shops be this awesome?? My car broke down in the middle of the afternoon so I had it towed there. While the shop was packed and super busy, they were able to squeeze me in a few hours before closing! They did warn me they might not be able to fix it until tomorrow, which would have been fine since everywhere else was booked until 3 days later to even Look at it, but would've left me in a pinch and scrambling for a ride home (40 miles away) And to work the next day. After less than 2 hours I was able to drive away in my Own car after they carefully diagnosed and identified the problem. Their services are very reasonably priced for the excellent quality of work they did. They seem like one big family all working together and having fun the entire time. It was entertaining to watch! Shame i won't be staying in Eugene long, but in the meantime I'm bringing my car here for everything and recommending the crap outa them. Thank you SO much to Everyone at Joe's Garage!! =D read more

I brought in a coupon that I received in the mail for a discount oil change. Instead they racked up $1,000 in charges with things that did not need to be fixed. I am a female and they tried to take advantage over me. I went to a different place and none of the charges were legit. Scammers. Also, the front lady at the desk was rude and had a ten minute conversation in front of me with another customer while I was waiting to be billed and she knew I had to get back to work. Called and scheduled a alignment asked for a wheel stud to be replaced and the steering wheel to be lined up on a classic car The alignment turned out fine but the steering wheel did not get lined up and they chose not to replace the wheels dead I guess it's a good thing I didn't ask for an oil change they may have chose not to put oil in or maybe not change the filter. I just feel if you put something on the work order and they tell you that it's done that you expected all three things to be done instead of one of three things. These guys were amazing. My 1978 Ford F-150 truck broke down on the interstate. I called AAA, and after an hour and a half waiting for them to pick me up, we were finally on our way to a AAA sponsored repair shop. We drove 30 miles to Wayne's garage, only to find out that they don't service older vehicles. Ugh! Luckily, the guys over there recommended Joe's Garage, so we headed that way. At this point, it was already 5pm, and I knew Joe's closed at 5:30. No worries there. Right when we pulled up, the guys at Joe's were all hands on deck to find the issue. They were pretty certain that it was the fuel pump, and they assured me that if it wasn't the fuel pump, that they would gladly drive me to a nearby hotel and have it running by 9am, since they knew I was really hoping to get my truck to California. After going through the truck, they found that indeed it was the fuel pump. They went and picked up the part, and had it back to the shop pretty quickly. At this point, it's almost 6pm, but no one quit working. The team over at Joe's were completely amazing. I was back on the road by 6:30. I can't praise these guys enough. Not only were they quick and efficient, but they also didn't charge me an arm and a leg. I appreciate that they didn't turn me away so close to closing like some other shops would do, or try and gouge me on the price of the part and service. I happily recommend this shop. I brought my 2003 VW Eurovan to Joe's Garage for a pre-purchase inspection and oil change on June 9. I hadn't been to Joe's before, but their inspection price was very reasonable, so I gave them the opportunity to look at my car. Service was prompt and thorough and I was very pleased with their work. Mike spent a lot of time explaining a few things about my car and replaced the battery in my key fob. He also told me about two quick and inexpensive fixed that I could do on my car that would save me a lot of money. My car died on the middle of the freeway while driving from Vancouver to Santa Barbara. I managed to pull the family over to an off ramp and Yelp said Joe's Garage was the place to go. Man, were they right. I had gotten some work done in Vancouver before leaving and it turned out that Canadian Tire had given me a bad alternator. Larry at Joe's Garage called up NAPA and checked the warranty status on the part, then got me up and running again as soon as they could get the part. Final bill? $85 for labour. Just incredible. They could have taken me for a ride knowing that I was stuck and had to leave town anyway, but instead they were awesome about everything. My only complaint is that they're in Eugene and not Santa Barbara because I'd be there now (the air con blew after I got it fixed with the alternator in Vancouver. JOE's Garage made my SALT LAKE THANKSGIVING TRIP HAPPEN!! Right before the holidays I took my car to get an oil change and during that oil change I was informed of an oil leak. In a panic I began to search for a local mechanic, Joe's Garage popped up with great reviews. I called them late Monday (11/24/14) evening, they told me they could see me first thing Tuesday (11/25/14) morning (right before our road trip to Salt Lake City on 11/26/14)... They did a diagnostic, walked me over to the garage and showed me the leak, took the time to explain to possibilities of what was going on... They were amazing at explaining to me all my options. They were kind enough to loan me one of their cars that morning to get to work while they worked on my vehicle. Staff was super nice and friendly, being nervous that this thanksgiving would be a loss, they fixed my car and my husband and I were off to Salt Lake City for Thanksgiving late Wednesday evening and made it just in time for our family dinner on Thursday 11/27/14. They even threw in a few bottles of oil just in case it got low, but we never had to top off because they fixed the leak. Thank you Joe's Garage! I've had nothing but friendly, prompt and honest service. Darren the owner takes pride in running a quality business. Evan has been so great to work with. Anytime I am shopping for a new car for myself, my husband or one of our kids, I bring it to the shop to have it looked over. Two visits to replace rear bearings, replace stabilizer bar links, four wheel alignment and change differential fluid on a 2004 Subaru. Excellent service start to finish. Staff was cheerful, courteous, and attentive. I knew what to expect when I dropped the car off and I received a comprehensive report of work done and other issues to be aware of, including cost estimates, when I picked it up. I really appreciate the use of a loaner car, thank you. I realize that identifying other issues could appear to be "selling me up", but no pressure was applied and I asked them to include a couple which included deferred maintenance and worn out suspension parts. I am glad I did. The car rides and drives much better now and must be safer. With Joe's help we should get more good years from this car. Which reminds me, when I made the first appointment I was asked how long we expected to own the car and that was taken under consideration when discussing repairs. Car repairs aren't cheap and the benefits are not always apparent so it's important to have a repair shop you trust. I'll continue to use Joe's Garage. read more

Took the car to Joe's Garage for a second opinion after the dealer said it was leaking oil and it needed to be fixed immediately at the cost of $4000. Joe's took a look confirmed there were leaks, but said at this time they're so minimal that they really didn't need to be addressed and to just keep an eye on things over time. They made some recommendations of repairs should I be planning on keeping the car long term. When I asked how much I owed they said it was free service. It was nice to walk out the door knowing my car would be fine and not paying a cent. They have won my business for any future repairs. read more

The staff collaborated with my father via phone (I don't speak car very well) to explain what they were doing. They didn't end up finding a leak and still checked out everything just to make sure. I have utilized Joe's garage twice since I found them. I have an older vehicle that can be difficult to do a straightforward repair on due to parts availability, among other things. They were very creative and effective doing what was sometimes a nonstandard project. They were totally upfront about all issues encountered and took the time to explain what needed to be done and why, and what the costs would be. The staff was very friendly and accommodating each time I was there. My "Trust Meter" is at the top of the scale for this garage and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody.
