I wish i never brought my car here! I brought my equinox in do to a sounded, then had it go into limp mode before the appointment. so I had it towed in.as soon as getting there I was meet in the parking lot being yelled at (red flag #1) after just pulling in.no need for yelling a simple "hey whats the issue and can you pull it over bleh" would have worked way better than yelling "hey hey hey you cant park there" After leaving it they where nice enough to take me to work which I did appreciate since I was running late however they where supposed to have called me with an update I did tell chyane that I wouldn't be off till 1 and if i dont answer to just leave a voice message and ill call back ASAP but they never did (red flag #2) since it wasnt too far I ended up walking down waited 30 -1hr for someone to come out had too wait another 2hrs because apparently 4-5hrs wasnt enough time and had just start looking at it remind you its now 130-2 and they told me they will look at it "right away" I ended up having to get my dad involved since he is more knowledgeable than me about this stuff They gave us a price for a whole new car just to replace the engine They said they would get me a loaner (red flag #3) they never did They said it would be done by the end of march, it wasnt i didnt get it back till the middle of April And dont get me started on how talked down they treat you, very rude, disrespectful, I left very disappointed and distort They go back on there words (huge red flag #4) They say they will keep you updated or call you, they never do Just to get my car back I had to pay almost $3,000 that they never mentioned (red flag #5) they said "well we hoped you would have at least parts paid off by now" Are you kidding me (NOPE) when I went in and paid my down payment and I even came back and paid a little extra chyne said "you are good this is enough to get them started and WE WILL CALL YOU" No one called I trusted them and they took advantage of me it says they have been in business since 91 I was expecting more way more This place needs to be shut down THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU, PUT YOU DOWN, FLIP EVERYTHING TO MAKE IT YOUR FAULT I should have made the tow guy take my car back i wish I never left it just based off how I was treated in the parking pulling in They also entered my car without my permission and pulled my daughter's $300 car seat out i did inspect it to make sure there was no damage thank god there wasnt since the seat was a gift and really needed it. They denied this but my husband being knowledgeable about landscaping asked why there was so much drit like someone went to Lowes or home Depot and picked up either a bunch of plants or soil, found foot prints on the INSIDE of the windshield on the front passenger side like someone was having a good old time, there was oil all over the top of the oil cover, soil threw out the whole car You know i expected a little bit of drit from getting in and out off the car but didnt expect the car needing a full detailed work AGAIN when I brought it in I ONLY had it LESS THAN A WEEK and it was super clean maybe a mico amount of drit from getting in and out of it but #1) I never went and got soil or plants to have that much drit in the trunk #2) I never gave then permission to enter my car and pull out the car seat I was supposed too have gone and get it which I expressed #3) there was no foot prints on the inside of the windshield I would have noticed it since I wipe it down every other day #4) they order the parts and without informing you about the mistake and let it SIT for 2weeks fully knowing it takes 2weeks to get the part to come in so when you call thinking you car is done on time to find out its gonna be another 2-3weeks and then not also informing you that the part is delayed then by 'magic' it shows up the next day Over all if I could i would leave a -5 review They really dropped the ball And ill never come back This happened back in end of February 2026 it took me so long to leave a review because I was so pissed off, distort and had to get it properly cleaned which took longer than it should because thats how bad they left my car It even looked like they loaned my car out and if they did thats illegal They shouldn't have done personal earns and called it "drive test" when I asked where the car is and that I want to look at it and not leaving till after we tested ourselves because at that point we where so done and just wanted to car back (it went from trying to get help to being a total nightmare) they kept saying "it be back in about an hr or so" which translates to "Someone has the car and is doing personal errands with it and they will be back when there back" we waited over an hr had to come back the next day A drive test shouldn't have taken no more than 30mins to an hr not 4hrs not come back tomorrow afternoon my dad did a drive test and was back within 30-40mins THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMERS AND WILL LIE read more

C & L is looking to scam you. My engine was overheating, so out of desperation I went to them, because they were closest to my job. They charged me $80 for a diagnosis. Turned out it was my radiator fan not working and they quoted me $1,100 to source the part and replace it. I reached out to a family friend mechanic back home in CO and he told me that quote was ridiculous. I found the part for $80 off Amazon, found a local mechanic off Highway 99 who then replaced the radiator fan in 20 minutes and only charged me $100. That was 3 years ago. Haven't had an overheating issue since. read more

Took my car in for a PPI for a buyer. They won't give me a copy of the inspection on MY car without paying them on top of the buyer paying for the inspection. They told the buyer the car needed a coolant flush when it was done 400 miles ago with the entire cooling system. They also said the car needed brakes which were brand new front and back. They will lie to make money on the back end of a car. read more

Without hesitation this team took my car in on short notice. Explained what it was clearly. Reasonably priced, fast and friendly

These folks are the absolute best of the best. Very reasonable prices and super honest with their diagnostics and strategy towards resolving any matters. They've always been extremely helpful and supremely thorough. I went to a couple dealerships and had absolutely horrid experiences when I first move to Eugene area. Found these guys on a whim and have been going to them since...5...6 years now? Bringing all my friends and colleagues too. I whole heartedly enjoy supporting local business. And these people are the most wholesome and good hearted people out there. Their follow up, is always welcomed when reminded me for service. It's genuine and real...not some automated system you get in every other industry. Check them out for your next routine service. You'll be glad ya did. read more

I had some car trouble with my car and my dealership couldn't get me in for 3 weeks. Yes, Sheppard Motors will happily take your money and sell you their cars but will not help when something goes wrong. So, moving forward, I decided to have my car towed to C.L. Automotive. Ryan, Craig and everyone there were kind to help me in a tight pinch. Not only did they get me in quickly, but they fixed my car for me and were honest about what was really needing repair. They didn't try to rip me off like my dealership. I can't thank them enough for doing such good and affordable work. Apparently, it was the spark plugs that went out and I needed fuel injector cleaning. Now my car drives like brand new. Thank you, Ryan, Craig and staff at C.L. for your kindness and honest business practice. I will be back for other services. Next, I will be bringing my car to them for my brake replacement. I highly recommend this auto repair shop. read more

I've attempted calling the facility twice to remedy this issue. Still, no response. I had ordered an oil change, tire rotation and 32 point inspection. The cap was left off *see photo, and the oil drain plug stripped. I went to this facility based on the positive reviews, but I will not be returning. read more

C & L Automotive - I was unaware that placing the cap back on and stripping the oil drain plug was part of the 32 point inspection. No ownership. - Auto Repair Near Me - Eugene, Oregon

Had a dead battery that couldn't be easily changed due to the configuration of the engine. Despite not having an appointment, they were able to take care of my car, ordered the battery, got it in within hours and got me back on the road the same day. Office staff very nice, just good quality service all around. We've gone to them before, and they always do good work. read more

We've been using C and L auto for 5 years now and we'll never use anywhere else. They have wonderful customer service, they can explain very well what needs to be done, reasonable prices and I don't feel nickel and dimed. Our last vehicle was going out the door and they were honest in telling us it's not worth fixing vs continuing to put a bandaid on the problem. They are true to their warranties as a different vehiclesbattery went bad after a year and they replaced it no questions asked. read more

Mr. Scroggins I wanted to say it was a pleasure doing business. He honored his word. Also, would like to spread the word of the C & L team and how they saved me thousands of dollars. If you ever think of buying a used vehicle Do yourself a favor by having these guys do a pre purchase vehicle inspection.. Can't thank C & L enough for not allowing shady car dealers who try to take advantage of others through false advertising vehicle that are not good. Mr. Scroggins communication was spot on even living few hours away his mechanic found major issues right away and I was not charged for the full inspection. Thanks!! read more

I don't know what to think of these reviews, are they true, or do I just have bad luck. Probably not all true, and I definitely need better luck. I had a few issues with them, and the one last week was pretty messed up. C&L gave me a quote $200 higher than the dealer. I gave the job to the dealer, had the expensive part order ready, and when returning a few hrs later to pick up my car, ... my car DID NOT need the $430 job that C&L put down as $650+, showed me the issue, kept putting red triangle symbols on this job that needed to be done., that was a scary mis diagnosis!!! I dought it has much more than a very bad mis diagnosis, I hope not!! It was very disturbing to find out I didn't need this expensive job. It was also disturbing that S. Did not follow up on phone call we had. Please customers, get a second opinion and estimate before letting this happen. read more

Ryan and Steve took car of my car when another mechanic could not discover the issue. Further, Ryan took care of the price, offering a new customer discount and another adjustment due to the money I had already spent elsewhere . YES, he adjusted the price due money I spent on ANOTHER mechanic. Very much appreciated the communication throughout the process and through explanation of work done. I need work done on my carbureted RV and they advised they could help with that as well. Will be back and certainly recommend. NOTE: my car is running great!! read more

It has taken me awhile to find an excellent, honest mechanic here in Eugene, but C & L is it. I have an older Outback from the east coast with a lot of salt damage/rust. As just one example of why I fully trust C&L, the power steering rack went out due to rust a few years back. They replaced it; that replacement part failed earlier than expected, and rather than charge me to have it replaced again (and it is an expensive part) they replaced it for free. Even though the part failing was no fault of their own. A year later, steering fluid was leaking due to an unrelated rust issue in one of the lines. They fixed this for free too, even though it had nothing to due with their original repair; since it was related to the power steering system, they fixed it under their warranty, for free. I'm sure they can't do this all the time or they'd go out of business, but they have my confidence and business as a result. read more

Barely competent! Took my rough idle car in for a diagnosis. After $104 they told me the cylinder head needed to be sent out and resurfaced. carbon build up on the exhaust valve on cylinder 3 was supposedly causing a miss-fire. They gave me two options, rebuild engine or swap out for a new motor all together. At minimum it would have cost me at least $1500. I took it to the guy I bought it from. He pushed down on the ignition coil in cylinder 3 and it snapped it all the way. Check engine light went off, car runs great now. They didn't even check basic wire connections. I have an Astro van they couldn't fix either. It had a miss fire on a cylinder. They did multiple rounds of work and didn't fix it. Now it stalls on the freeway. Like I said, barely competent. read more

I wish I could rate this shop with more than 5 stars. C&L Automotive provides the best repair service I've ever encountered. Their professionalism is above par. Their mechanical services for repairs and/or tune-ups are excellent and reasonable! ALL the staff are very intelligent, especially regarding the services provided, and the mechanic's are very knowledgeable in their field of work. I really enjoyed the thoroughness of C&L automotive, as well as their customer service. Not only did they inspect the entire car, but they honestly advised approximately how much life was left in the brakes, or if a part REALLY needed to be replaced, etc. Also, not too long after my service, I received a follow-up call from C&L; they wanted to make sure everything was going well, and inquired if I had any questions for them. In my opinion, C&L has set the bar very high for customer service. I am truly grateful for finding this shop. C&L is where I take my vehicle to. read more

Excellent little mom and pop shop. We were given honest quotes and not offered services we did not need. We had gone to a other shop before hand but they no availabilities, so knew exactly what we needed fixed. This store was more thorough in their inspection and even printed out pictures of my vehicle to show me where the damage to the tire was. Also they were reasonable with pricing and were cheaper than other shops in the area. Definitely recommend their services. Very pleasant experience. read more

They rebuilt my engine and I had nothing but troubles! They left all of the old, $5 and $10 broken parts on the engine. They did not clean out the valve covers, the covers were filled full of a half inch thick of burnt oil from the old engine. They gave the vehicle back to me leaking oil all over the place. Never recommend to anyone. read more

Great service and everyone is soooo friendly. However, most of the staff that I could see were not wearing masks. I felt unsafe and couldn't wait to leave. Everyone at the front was wearing a mask when I arrived, but one by one, they all took them off at some point and never put them back on. read more

Professional, skilled and ethical. I was impressed by C and L Automotive and I will absolutely be a return customer.

I have been taking my business and personal vehicles there for years. Great service, complimentary drop off and pick ups. Very knowledgeable. The only shop i have been to that admits if they are stumped and will say this might or might not work. Steve, and his mechanics are top notch and always seem to find a way to keep my rigs running top notch. They are a little bit more expensive then some, but cheaper then others, but they warranty all work they do, and only use the best lifetime guarantee parts. -Greg read more

Polite, knowledgeable, friendly staff. Very professional. Best service I have ever experienced. They truly are wonderful. I will never take my car anyplace else, by choice. I HIGHLY recommend them. I cannot express how much I like the folks at C & L Automotive! Today, I took my "German" car (we'll leave it at that) in for brakes. I was advised a couple weeks ago by the factory dealership (in Portland) that my front pads were at 5.5mm (caution) and rear pads were at 3mm ("fail"). Stephany advised that their mechanic did a courtesy inspection and found that the front pads were actually at 8mm and the rear pads at 5mm and were wearing symmetrically. Ergo, a brake job ($2800 were calipers to be needed) wasn't even necessary at this time! The dealership that gave the disingenuous report is seriously lacking in integrity. C & L on the other hand is to be commended for their extraordinary integrity and honesty. I cannot recommend them highly enough! I'm dismayed at the blatant dishonesty I experienced with the dealership and will likely never go back there.... read more

When we moved to Eugene we found ourselves searching for a new mechanic. We were wondering if we could be as satisfied after our last mechanic who we were with for seven years. C & L has far surpassed our expectations as we look to keep our 187,000 mile van in good working order. The good starts when you walk in the door and are not only greeted by a friendly face and hello, but when you are listened to about your needs and plans for your vehicle (thanks Matt)! Steve, who is the owner has always taken the time to hear our concerns, give thoughtful feedback and explain everything in detail. Service has always been prompt, reasonably priced and we have always felt that they are truly experts at what they do--and they do so with integrity. read more

Steve Clem owns C & L Automotive and I would not hesitate to send anyone to his shop. It's clean, friendly, his mechanics are top notch, he is current with the technology to work on the cars of today and is a classic car buff so he can handle those too.He goes above and beyond in the normal course of business. My assistant was in an accident in South Eugene and her car wasn't drivable. She couldn't get hold of her Dad so she called C & L. In the middle of a busy day, Steve drove over to her and banged out her wheel well so that she could drive her car. Prompt and friendly service! I had my car in for an oil change and they did a great job of looking everything over and letting me know what may need work in the future. Their website has printable coupons and they offer a punch card for oil changes, buy 4 get 1 free! I was referred by a friend and now I will be referring friends and family to C&L as well. read more

The best mechanics I've had by far. I have a 95 honda with well over 200K miles. They let me know what maintenance I need and what things may be problems in the future. I Googled the following: "best auto repair Eugene". C&L Auto was the first place to come up so I took in my 2004 Nissan Quest to get fixed up. Now I should be suing Google for the $1,250 I threw away at C&L. You guys didn't even give my van a compression test and I told you I just bought it. You guys wrote on your checklist my tire pressure was at 20psi but let me drive off and hadn't put air in them I had to get air down the road at gas station. You also didn't fix the original problem with the van and told me it was fine. After telling me it was fine and good to go I found it leaked power steering fluid really bad. When I brought it back the next day you guys told me just keep filling the power steering fluid up with automatic transmission fluid which I did until I found out it was 3 TIMES MORE than the power steering fluid!!! You guys should probably shut down is my recommendation to your question about what you could do to improve your performance. read more
