I took my vehicle bmw to euro Asia first which I was quoted 6,300 for valve cover etc they said I needed a oil change in which was done the day before and that I needed brakes at 15% which was done the year before! i Think they thought they could take advantage of me! Then I bring it to absolute automotive! They replaced my valve cover and even replaced my tail light for 1/3 the price! They said I had 75% life left in my brakes! I was a customer of Absolute Automotive for many years, which is why writing this review is a bit difficult. My previous experiences with this shop had been satisfactory including reasonable prices, which is why I returned for service this last time. I had my Mitsubishi Montero Sport, with approximately 95,000 miles, towed to the shop after it had been in storage for several months. Before storage, I had driven it and I had not experienced any misfires. My vehicle was towed because an oil leak had contaminated the alternator, preventing it from keeping the battery charged. I wanted the leaks repaired, the alternator replaced, and my SUV inspected before I began driving it again, so it would be dependable. The shop performed repairs including oil leak repairs, a tune-up, an oil change, a new alternator, a new air filter, and a new 5-year battery. My bill was just under $2,000. When I picked up my SUV, I was told it had developed a misfire likely related to Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer I used during storage. I was instructed to drive my vehicle and run several tanks of premium fuel through it, and I was told the issue should resolve itself. During that time I experienced surging and reduced engine power. I followed those instructions, but the issue continued. I returned to the shop, where the code was cleared, but the problem persisted. I was again advised to continue driving my SUV and to continue using premium fuel. At that time, I was not advised that additional diagnosis was needed to determine the cause of the misfire. After several months, while driving on the freeway, the engine suddenly shut off and I had to coast to the shoulder. Approximately an hour later, I was told my vehicle had suffered catastrophic engine failure and was not repairable. I was also directed to a local wrecking yard (B & R Auto Wrecking) that might offer around $200 for my SUV. Even though it no longer works, I decided to keep my vehicle. I reported the drivability issues multiple times and followed the advice I was given by the same person at Absolute Automotive. Despite this, my vehicle ultimately suffered catastrophic engine failure. Also during this time, that same employee sent me unsolicited and very explicit photos of himself by text message (receipt). He later apologized via text. I responded that his behavior was not okay and that I did not want to discuss it further. I do not believe the owner(s) of the shop would condone this behavior. I have been unable to speak with an owner because the same employee who sent the nude photos answers the phone whenever I call. I also submitted a written request by email for copies of my last three repair invoices several weeks ago so I could better understand the work that had been performed on my vehicle. I have not received a response. As a long-time loyal customer, I did not expect this type of experience. As a woman in her 60's I no longer have a working vehicle because it would cost thousands of dollars to rebuild the engine, so now I have to walk everywhere. To say the least, losing reliable transportation has had a significant impact on my daily life. read more

Charged $450 to replace a blower motor even though they couldn't get it to work. Then tried to blame us saying it's because we didn't ask them to diagnose the issue, just told them the motor needed replaced. We assumed they would do their job correctly but they charged us for 6 hours on a job that shouldn't have taken more than 3, killed a replacement blower motor and still didn't know why it happened. Ended up paying over $500 for an oil change, the main issue we brought it in for wasn't solved and they blew up a $150 part. Not only did they over charge us, but were rude in the process. My acuator went out in my car. These guys replaced it but the part was faulty. I took it back in and they stood behind the guarantee. I have had them do oil changes in the past and always treated me with kindness and respect. Also, I had told the dodge dealership for over a year my engine felt like it rocked. I had a good experience with Absolute Automotive! Jason was really good on the communication side of things and that was really important to me. I did my research before i went in for new front brakes and rotors, they charged me exactly what they estimated me on, I know that's not always the case many times mechanics will see things that we are not aware of or spot a problem that can be a potential nightmare and so prices can vary in the end. Like some others who've posted reviews, I was introduced to Absolute Automotive by a AAA tow truck and I'm forever grateful to AAA for it. My wife and I had been traveling around Oregon and were headed back to our home in Silicon Valley, USA. Just outside Eugene, we pulled into a rest stop and suddenly the power steering went out. I found a serpentine belt sprawled around the engine compartment and a burned-up tensioner oozing melted bushings. I called AAA and asked for a tow truck and a recommended mechanic. The operator gave me the number for Absolute. (Later, the tow truck driver, a local, enthusiastically confirmed that choice.) I explained the situation to the nice fellow at Absolute. (Sorry, I forgot his name, but I'll correct that later.) This was a Saturday afternoon and they were scheduled to close in a few hours, but he assured me they should be able to get it done that day. Nonetheless, noting that they're closed on Sunday, we were preparing ourselves for a hotel stay until at least Monday. As soon as we arrived in the tow truck, the guys at Absolute Automotive immediately moved our pickup into the service bay and started working before we had the paperwork filled out. They invited us (including our Cocker Spaniel) into the waiting area. A few minutes later, I looked out the window and saw a parts truck pull into the service area. A short while later, with frequent updates from the crew, our truck was ready to go, including a routine fluids check to make sure we didn't break down from lack of oil or whatever. We paid the bill and got back on the road after a delay of only a few hours total. I heartily recommend Absolute Automotive to anyone in the vicinity of Eugene, or any traveler passing by in need of mechanical support. Well where do I start? Ok, I don't write reviews unless it is worthy. I have taken different models of cars (Mitsubishi to Mercedes) to Absolute and all have been taken care of at the highest level. My fear every time when I bring a car to any shop is being ripped off and quoted on things I don't need. Jud the owner is as honest as it gets and has saved me so much time, money and headaches. What brought me to write this review today is he saved my vacation. I had a short notice engine light come up on my 2006 Durango and it came up as a transmission issue. Not only did he get everything done quickly but he went through and checked out other items on my car to make sure we were safe on our trip. Please give this shop a try. Thank you for the reply. Thinking about it some more, I am pretty sure the retaining clips on my new OEM wheel covers were also damaged on this occasion. They are plastic. They aren't fragile, but if the wheel cover isn't removed by pulling from the center, or levering tools like screwdrivers are used to pry them off, the clips can break off. They still hold to the wheels, but with fewer remaining clips they don't hold as well. Also, they are my specially ordered OEM wheel covers, they were brand new, made 1990-1993. The reason I didn't say anything at the time is I had no proof. I didn't think to go peeking at my wheel covers after going here; I only discovered after the fact there was damage. That said, Absolute Automotive wasn't the only place that I visited and I believe damage occured on multiple occasions, to the extent that when I went to have work done on my car I took the wheel covers off myself since apparently I can't trust professionals to do that correctly. Mechanics do that kind of thing. Break little pieces here and there, and neglect to mention it/reimburse you for it. The customer will never know. read more

They Left parts under the hood, which makes me think they didn't even do a final inspection before I picked up my car. I had two problems with my car when I brought it in, although I was unaware of the fact that there were multiple problems. The main problem was the starter. They told me that the teeth of my starter were worn down and I would need a new one. The price I was quoted was out of my budget, so I decided to try to do it myself. This proved to be a very good idea. A quick look online on how to do it and I found where the starter was, and learned that it was supposed to be held on by two bolts, but one of the bolts was missing. This was the only problem with the starter. Once we put a new bolt on the problem was all gone. They didn't even tell me it was missing a bolt, let alone that that was the only problem. But, they did remove the starter to show it to me, and put it back on, so there is no way that they didn't know that this bolt was missing. With such a quick, easy, and cheap fix that they tried to make more complicated and expensive I will definitely never be going back to them. In the end, it cost me $90 to have them give me incorrect information, when they had the correct information. Also, they showed us a starter whose teeth were worn down (which is what they said the problem was). My wife believes they showed us a starter that was not our own, and one that was far more worn down than ours. I am skeptical that they went to that level of deceit, but it is not an impossibility. Either way, I would not recommend them to anyone I didn't hate. read more

I have never posted a review, but am pleased to do so now. On a trip from WA to CA my car's catalytic converter split, and I was directed to Absolute Auto. This happened on a Saturday when few shops are open. AAA advised they were open until 4pm. I drove my car there and it was looked at. They were honest and said I couldn't drive the car; the catalytic converter had split and would be flooding the car with carbon monoxide. Other service shops were closed so they wouldn't be able to get parts until Monday morning. Estimated cost $1200 at the high end; not what I needed for this vacation. They then drove me to a motel where I spent the weekend. Monday morning they called to say they had the parts and it would be ready Tuesday afternoon. True to their word, they called Tuesday afternoon; the car was ready. They offered to come get me at the motel if necessary. The good news; they didn't need all the parts so final cost was $750. They were extremely courteous and professional, can't say enough about them and wish they were here in the bay area. I'd be back there without hesitation and refer other friends to them. I was visiting family in Springfield recently. I came out to my car on Saturday and was unable to start it. I had the car towed to Absolute because of good reviews on line. When I called first thing Monday morning I was told they would move some things around to get to me when I told them I had to be back in Seattle on Tuesday afternoon. They told me my car was starting up just fine but thought I would need to replace distributor sooner or later. They fixed the car and had it ready for me by 2:00. Great service-really nice people. Also took motor and gears off drivers side door because window wasn't working so I could get it fixed when I got home and did not charge me for labor or their time!!! They always treat me honestly and fairly. There are never any pricing surprises - you know in advance what they're going to do and how much it will cost. I absolutely reject the claims made by the business owner as incorrect, and will state that the way he describes his customers on the internet is downright insulting and rude, especially to someone who has spent significant money at his business. I am happy that Yelp provides business owners with a platform to respond. I unlike Jud are happy that people have the right to share their experiences or thoughts. But it is a concern when it is used as a personal attack and an attempt to shift blame and avoid responsibility. First, I was labeled a "Budget Customer" from the owner. A budget customer??? How insulting. Labels me a "budget customer", but in his very own post states that I have publicly ridiculed him simply by sharing my experience which he obviously cannot take. This is an extreme contradiction. Owner is doing his best to avoid responsibility, make excuses and shift the attention away from his poor service rather than own it, insulting his customers in the process. Apparently these guys rate you depending on how much money you spend at their business. I am very surprised that someone who has spent over $1,000 is considered budget. Business owner knew who I was, had my details in his system but felt it was more appropriate to write a "customer got it wrong" response online rather than calling me to discuss. A very poor and desperate attempt to shift blame to customer. Just awful. It is every customers right to post your experience online for others to read. Owners response included this quote "We always try to do the best for our customers, but should not be publicly ridiculed when the real issue is the customers ability to properly service and pay for the issues on HIS vehicle." Owner is clearly trying to discredit my right to share my experience and avoid responsibility for two examples of service that were simply less than satisfactory. Business owner signed off with "We have a very large customer base that trusts us and will go nowhere else. Must be doing something right. Jud Garlock, Owner". I have never tried to suggest that other people have different experiences, that was never my intention. This is again, another example of Jud's belief that "customer us wrong, business is right". This should be very concerning for anyone thinking about taking your vehicle there because it seems he is suggesting that because he has a healthy customer base I must have got it wrong with my bad experiences. That is a very dangerous mindset for a business owner. What is most concerning in addition to personal denigration, however, is that Jud's response is factually incorrect in many places. I originally took my vehicle in because of scraping noise. Was told that rear brake pads needed replacing which I did immediately. There was NEVER a discussion about me not wanting to replace front brake pads because I didn't have enough money. Absolute Automotive didn't diagnose the issue because they never took the front wheels off my vehicle which they state are a part of all brake services, and WHAT I PAID THEM TO DO. I came back a month later and paid them additional money because I was traveling and it was my first opportunity, nothing to do with finances. Second, factually incorrect that I came in for an A/C service. Rang them and told A/C was not working, Absolute Automotive advised they could diagnose and fix the problem. Guy filled up the freon and said that it was working fine. They missed the fact that a switch (or fuse) whatever it was, was the only thing causing my AC not to run properly. They fixed it at no charge because I had already paid for the service NOT BECAUSE OF ANY BUDGET ISSUES or them doing me a favor as the owner tried to claim. Absolute lie right there. Third, at no stage did Absolute automotive diagnose my heat issue. They told me what they thought it "may" be, which is very different from telling me what it is for certain. Again, I did not ever say "I can't afford it", but based on experiences with bad service decided not to go ahead with them. Fourth, this quote is a straight lie "We completed his tune-up and thermostat as requested and advised customer his car would be complete by a specific time. Obviously he did not hear this." Absolute rubbish, guy on the phone apologized for not calling me and accepted responsibility, but again the owner-like every single experience I have shared-has avoided responsibility and places blame purely on customer. I would avoid Absolute Automotive is you want to be treated based on how much money you spend, judged for apparently not having enough money (to their standard), blamed for everything they get wrong, and told that because they have a healthy customer base your experience and right to share it is invalid. read more

So my band Darkenside was on tour heading from Washington down to California and our RV tire blew causing a chain reaction of issues to occur. We got a tow over to Absolute Automotive and were forced to sleep over night because it was late and the shop was closed for the day. The next when they opened we went in and explained our situation and they had us up in running in no time. We were so glad we have them a free signed copy of our new Album. RV is running like a champ and we are extremely happy with the work. We are back on the road and will recommend these specialist to anyone. They told me I needed a brand new transmission for $3000 & I shouldn't even drive it home it was so bad. Picked it up anyway because this cost more than the car did. Took it to Lube It USA & was told I just needed a transmission service. We've been driving the car for well over a year with no problems since the $90 transmission service. They replaced my whole radiator too for lots of money & I'm realizing I was probably scammed on that & just needed a cheap radiator flush. Definitely get a second opinion before trusting this place! UPDATE: What the owner said in response to my comment is untrue. Yes I came in for the differential service (they used cheapest oil possible & the service had to be redone a few months later) & also to have a $100 transmission service. I was told the transmission would not work & that I HAD to replace the whole transmission for $3000. If I would have wrote this review right after you'd just say that my transmission will break soon. Over a year later and not a single transmission issue. I stand by my review. Get a second opinion people! I do hope that I'm wrong about being scammed on buying a new radiator & that I truly needed it. My skepticism is because you were absolutely wrong about me having to replace the entire transmission. read more

What an excellent team to have here in Eugene. I called to schedule an oil change, arrived 15 minutes early, and my car was being worked on before my scheduled appointment time. When they confirmed the oil filter had fused shut (confirmed previously by a less experienced auto repair shop, no thanks to the dealership), Jud explained what likely caused it, the solution, and gave me an estimate in price and time for the new filter to arrive, all in a clear and personable manner. When I came back a few days later, Jud called me by name, and again my car was being worked on before my scheduled appointment time. In the end, I was impressed with how reasonably priced this refreshing and quality customer service was--not just from Jud but from the entire team. Never been more disappointed by a service. Sent to nearest mechanic (Absolute Automotive 8 Moss Street, Slack Creek). Ask for diagnosis of hazard lights that were on). $1200 later and car still has same issue. As Nathan from Autoguru jumped straight on the 'boys club' wagon and sides with mechanic, I was forced to take my unfixed car to a specialist transmission technician to prove my position. Thankfully I have now, (absolutely NO thanks to the support of Nathan from Autoguru), have a credible diagnosis by a specialist transmission machanic, who has reinterated that my car was clearly misdiognosed, and the mechanic 'Autoguru' sent me to, was obviously using faulty analyses equipment. (They did not get one fault code that Michael from Absolute Automotive claimed to have). To top it off, Michael from Absolute Automotive tried to talk me out of engaging Autoguru to get the work completed through, as apparently they add an extra 22% to the total cost. Michael suggested that if it weren't for Autoguru charges, they would have only charged me $800 for the misdiognoses, instead of $1200. OFT complaint definitely being lodged. If you are a women STAY away from this business...not all good reviews from men. Hmmmm mates I'm thinking. Horrible in person when diagnosis challenged. read more
