It's comical that a dealership is more customer friendly. I don't know man their diagnostic work on my car was good and somewhat cheap, I think for about 2 hours of work they charged me 160 not bad. But those 2 rules just threw a curveball at me that I'm never gonna face or see again. Anyway Versionex shop is awesome they give me absolute 0 problems and they've done a ton to my cars. The mechanic I spoke with who pointed out some things that need done, just interacting with him made me uncomfortable. He wasn't friendly, I felt underlying passive aggressiveness + judgement for not jumping at the chance to book services (it is a financial issue!). Also I came here a year ago and it was the same feeling from him, he said it was almost past due to get new brake pads. I still haven't done new brake pads. Today I took my car elsewhere and my brake pads are at 6mm, so they have more mileage than he gave the impression of. I won't come back, my gut told me don't go there again. the last honest auto mechanic shop…read more.. look no further than econo auto service for all your mechanical needs! my wife is a traveling photographer and was recently sent to eugene for work (we live in central oregon). her car made it safely there, but the next day, she heard a "pop" and it wouldn't go into gear. yikes! what do you do when you're in a city far from home and your car needs repair? imagine the panic. as luck would have it, i came across david at econo auto service. i called him and explained both the situation, and my fear. he immediately put me at ease. he recommended a tow company, and took my wife's car in for evaluation, diagnosed it within hours (bad master/slave clutch cylinders--a repair we had attempted to do ourselves last year), and had it repaired in less than two days. we knew that the starter was on it's way out, which noticed and suggested replacement during the other work because he didn't want my wife to be stranded somewhere. he explained everything in plain terms, didn't make either of us feel stupid for not knowing more about our car, allayed fears with constant communication and patience. the work was superb. and even tho he could have easily gouged "an out of towner" his rates were both reasonable and fair. my wife drove home safely without any further issues. we got lucky. you can too! call econo auto service and know that you can trust them with your repair.
