Took a 2005 Astro van into Jacksons auto in July of 2023 with 153K miles on it. A/C had worked up till then. They charged me $550 and it lasted till next spring. Took it back and they charged me $955 and it lasted till the following spring. Went in this July and they wanted $3250 to fix it. I seemed to have 3 parts that needed to be changed. Cost for parts $125 off the street. They said that they could sharpen there pencil and do it for $2550. I smell a rat here. Needless to say they are not the A/C specialists they are supposed to be. I have very mixed feelings about this place, and I haven't decided if that is good or bad. I'm not entirely sure I'll return, but time will tell. My husband decided he was taking the car in here, after hearing an ad on the radio or some stupid shit like that. I personally wouldn't trust an ad, but I'm suspicious by nature. I left him to handle it. He told them the air conditioner wasn't working, but that was it. The person he talked to on the phone told him to bring it in and they could fix it that day. Now, I'm not a total idiot. I knew it was the heater core, and I knew this wasn't a quick, magical fix that would be done in an hour. Hmmm.... I was right. All they did was put some fluids in it and tell us it was the heater core, and a fan wasn't working. Imagine that! I told my husband when we left, I told you so. But, hey. Wasn't my problem at that point. He made the choice, he got to live with it and the cost. So, they gave us an estimate, and off we went. There was a couple other things wrong with it. I'd have to look at the paperwork to know for sure what they were. So a few weeks later, my husband wanted one of the things worked on. It was a fairly high priced thing, but he had made some extra tips at work, so we could make it happen. I figured the heater core was included in this, and apparently my husband had been lead to believe it was as well. Not quite the case. Instead, they did something that seemed fairly simple, we paid like $350 for, and were left with an estimate of $800 for a new heater core. So I know heater cores are a pretty labor intensive project. Labor equals money. I get it. I don't expect anyone to work for free. But $800 seems absurd, and so did whatever I paid $350 for, really. So I asked a buddy of mine to do it instead, and it'll be significantly cheaper. I wish I had paid more attention to whatever my husband had them do on this day, and had Matt do it instead. I'd be out significantly less money, I know that much. Would I return here? They do decent work, I have no complaints there. Do I feel communication is their strong point? Ehh, it seems to leave a lot to be desired. I think their prices are somewhere in the middle. I haven't decided if I'll return here or not, honestly. After the heater core estimate, I'm thinking not. Communication was right forward, a refreshing clarity that I'd been needing for the past 4 years with my first vehicle (2015 Toyota Prius). When I finally went in for a more involved procedure, I discovered how honest and dedicated the shop owners are to their clients. Despite being incredibly busy, stationed at a location which surely influxes new cliental into their system daily, Jackson's continues to operate as a business which feel grounded in family values. If I could give negative stars right now, I would. I had my car taken to this shop to get some work done around my bumper. After having it for longer than they told me they would take, I went in to pay the day it was finished and once I opened my door I saw that everything had been looted through; all of my personal items, chargers and trunk contents had been completely thrashed and/or stolen. I went back in to have the whole crew go and look at the car sheepishly, the manager tell me there was "nothing they could do for stolen stuff" and then they told my fiancé that they would send us videos and call us when they reviewed it. Needless to say that didn't happen either, we just went back in together and had the owner (Robert "Bob" Langan) tell us he had reviewed the video, didn't see anything and didn't assume any responsibility or offer to help with it whatsoever. So, they let my car get robbed and decided it wasn't their problem, even though it was in their possession and care. Shoddy businessman-ship doesn't come close to covering this one. So when my car broke down after the 8 hour drive up from California, I sought the help of Jackson's. I received friendly, efficient service and felt my money was well-spent. (No "there's a unicorn in your exhaust pipe" shenanigans) They were even willing to talk to my car-savvy boyfriend on the phone about their diagnosis and negotiate on the price. The boyfriend didn't last, but my customer loyalty to Jackson's has. Counter service is always extremely welcoming and they like to joke around to keep you on your toes. Another perk is that if you need transportation, they'll drop you off and later pick you up to get your car. So convenient! read more

Charged $41 for a diagnosis (no other auto place I've been to has ever charged anything for that) and insisted the whole ac system needed to be replaced for almost 2 grand (more than twice as much as the first place i went) even though a tiny little electrical component in the compressor is malfunctioning. Rude and not transparent, definitely trying to overcharge. Guy got mad that I didn't say I'd already been elsewhere and was comparing prices, like what you think I'm made of money and can just throw down for the first quote I get?! Do not recommend. I needed to find a car shop in order to have a post cross-country inspection, oil, change, and tire rotation. I found Jackson Auto Care by chance (proximity to where I live) and dropped my car off. They told me it would be about 1 hour, so I walked around, got some coffee, etc., When I returned in 1 hour, they were finished with the car. Not only had they done an excellent job, but they also washed the car and even left some M&M candy on the passenger seat along with their business card. Great service, friendly, and very trustworthy!!! I highly recommend them! One recent Friday I was on my way to visit family for a long weekend when my car's AC stopped working halfway through my 6 hour drive. Frantic to get it fixed before my trip home, I had a family member calling around to find a place that could get me in quickly. We were thankful that they said they would get me in Monday morning (we made about a dozen calls). Anyway, they knew I was from out of state and was rather desperate - a situation other mechanics could take advantage of - but I received great service instead! There was a reasonable diagnostic fee of $42 (to be expected) and they quickly discovered I had just fried my relay which they had in stock. Honestly, I was expecting a full clearing out of my AC system and at least an hour or two of labor. My niece that is a student at the local jr college had her vehicle towed in and was charged to have car looked at and which they found to be a bad battery which was replaced a month ago before she left for college. fast forward two days later her vehicle had to be towed back to the shop at my nieces expense now they found that the starter needed to be replaced which she was charged again for a diagnostic fee which i feel shouldnt be charged if the starting and charging system was properly check the first time. they also charged her 357.66 dollars for reman starter a brand new not reman starter lists for 219.14 where they get their pricing you got me but i feel they took advantage of a young student new to the town. im not even going to start with the extra fees added on to the invoice. read more

Such a wonderful experience! I took my car in for a diagnostic assessment because a bunch of lights were on, and they were able to get me in within a few days. I was able to drop off my car in the morning and was given a courtesy ride to and from work. The work on my vehicle was done quickly and I felt that the mechanic was very upfront and honest. They tell you prices up front and will give you real and honest assessments of your vehicle. I did not feel like i was pressured into unnecessary work. I have been doing business with Jacksons for years. Not only do I appreciate their customer service (which is excellent!) but I trust them. Trust and auto mechanics don't usually go hand-in-hand. There have been times when I was told that I didn't need the repair (which would have been much more expensive) I thought I needed. Totally agree with Kana S: "Great people, great service." I've always had great service at Jackson's. The people are friendly, candid, attentive, empathetic and very generous with advice. They try to help you save as much money as possible by putting themselves in your shoes, and are timely with their work. I had a ton of work done on my car, and they guesstimated that it would take 3 days to finish up, but ended up getting my car back to me in a day and a half. The mechanic who worked on my car was always available to talk on the phone and discuss various ways in which I could stretch my money & end up on top. He seemed to genuinely want to promote the longevity of my car, and increase my general car knowledge for maintenance purposes. Hopefully, *fingers crossed* I will never have to bring my car back to a mechanic during its lifespan (hah), but if I do, I'll bring it to Jackson's. Halfway through a 5 day road trip with my brother we found ourselves out of luck when the trusty Expedition spit a spark plug just outside of Eugene the day before the long 4th of July weekend. Luckily out tow truck driver pulled us over to Jackson's where Derek went out of his way to get us back on the road. Although the traditional fix is to replace the heads for a lot of money and time, Derek got us bumped up in the schedule and the techs at Jackson's got it fixed with a helicoil... We were on our way by noon. Can't say enough good things about this shop. I really appreciated their helping us out of a really tough jam, and thoroughly explaining our options for getting a fix. Luckily the plug got the expedition back home to Sequim, Washington and it's still driving fine. Thanks so much for the help guys... If I could give ZERO stars I would. DO NOT trust this place. My college age daughter was taken advantage of as they charged her what they called an "evaluation" of $350 to diagnose a new radiator. They then charged an additional $850+ to replace it and change the oil. I live in the SF Bay Area and called three places including my local mechanic @ advancedautoclub.com and not only was the $850 extremely high for replacing a radiator ( in a Ford Expedition) but NO ONE charged for an estimate! I've gone to many a mechanic and I've never heard of being charged for an estimate - unless you don't have the work done. Total rip off at Jackson's. If I could have been present to help my daughter navigate there is no way they would have gotten away with this. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves for ripping off people - especially a college student on a very limited income. read more

Warning to our local community. Do not take your vehicle to this shop. My 17 year old son was trying to get his vehicle repaired on his own and trusted this shop. Went in for an alternator. Left with no alternator on Jackson's recommendation but spent his summer savings of $1700 worth of parts and labor for a con job of a diagnosis and subsequent work. The vehicle didn't run for more than long enough to leave the shop. Had it towed back to the shop the very next morning, Now they want $900 for the alternator that we wanted originally. The vehicle isn't worth the repair cost at this point and the shop is refusing to return any of his money for a bad diagnosis and or take their parts off of the car. It's sad that it's so hard to find a good mechanic that can diagnose a problem and not just start blindly replacing parts. And even more sad this shop took advantage of a young man and his first dealings with a repair shop. I spoke with the owner Bob Langen and he refused to make any of this right. My wife and daughter had just left Eugene on a Saturday morning on the way home to California, and the car broke down 30 miles south on I-5. The tow driver took them to Jackson's as they were the only place open on the weekend. Bob and his crew were about to head home, but offered to stay late and see the car. They checked out the care a diagnosed the problem, which was (unfortunately) a blown engine. The car wasn't worth the cost of the repairs so we just left it here. It was tough to take the loss on the car, but if they hadn't stayed late to diagnose the issue, my wife would have had to stay until the following Monday to get it looked at. This was just as the pandemic shutdowns were happening, I wanted to get them home. Bob also helped us out and coordinated getting care to the scrap car place we sold it to. He couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. read more

A majority of people know about paying for quality parts and labor; however, by lying and saying you needed to break a majority of things under my chasis in order to get my car running was a complete lie and money grab. I hope you learn your lessons before you get terminated. Nothing on my car needed to be broken or was a corroded as your mechanics said. Your business ethics are terrible. If you really need money that bad, find another profession that isn't taking advantage of the local community. Shaking my head, I can not tolerate businesses that are like jacksons. I chose Jacksons because it's a AAA recommended shop. I have continued to use this shop because of the excellent customer service and quality work I've received for more than three years. A couple of years ago my brake light switch went bad, making it difficult to shift out of park. Jacksons made the repair, but I discovered a couple of months later that my cruise control (which is also controlled by the brake light switch) no longer worked. They fixed that problem and did my next oil change all at no charge. The staff is super friendly and always helpful, and the garage is one of the cleanest auto repair facilities I've ever seen. It's a little pricey, but the AAA discount offsets that. Plus the peace of mind knowing that a reliable, competent, and honest mechanic has worked on your car makes the slightly higher price worth it in my mind. read more

I had taken my 1972 Cadillac Sedan DeVille up to Seattle from the San Francisco Bay Area for an art show. Leaving the city on Sunday evening it seems like she was running a little rough but I was hopeful it wouldn't get too much worse and I'd be able to make it home. Those hopes were dashed when I pulled off the freeway in Eugene and could barely keep her running at stop lights by keeping one foot on the gas and one on the brake simultaneously. I pulled into the Motel 6 parking lot, got a room, and immediately went on Yelp looking for suggestions. Jackson's was not only the highest rated shop nearby there were even a couple of stories from other folks who were saved during road trips. The next morning I called and the told me they had a pretty full schedule but would try to squeeze us in. I rode the brake 5 miles there all the while playing out possible scenarios in my head (points? carburetor? spark plugs?). When I arrived the folks there were friendly and realistic - they told me if they had to remove the carburetor I might be stuck in town a couple of days. I was glad I had my work laptop with me just in case! I walked to a nearby coffee shop to have breakfast and get a little work done. Around lunchtime I decided to head somewhere else to get a sandwhich but I had let my sweatshirt in the car and it had gotten chilly so I decided to walk back to the shop and get it. While I was on the way they called me and said we could talk when I got back to the shop. The first thing they said when I got back was "we're going to give you your car back". I did a double-take. They said they cleaned and adjusted the points and road tested her and she was running smoothly and that they could probably do more and find other things to fix but they figured that I'd rather get back on the road and that I should be good but that I should take her in for a full service with my regular mechanic when I got back. Total charge: $110. My jaw dropped. I was back on the road in 3 hours and for much less than I had feared. They understood my needs perfectly & didn't try to do any more work than was absolutely necessary. I thanked them, promised them another 5 star review, and hit the road. We made it home that night with no other problems! I hope that on my next road trip I don't have any car trouble but if I do break down I hope it is in Eugene! read more

Had a good first experience that led to my returning here. I had called a few days in advance to get an estimated price to have my brakes changed. I set up an appointment, and when I got there today the guy I talked to on the phone was working and checked me in. He re-evaluated his estimate, came up with a similar number, then said that he was pretty new and called someone else over to double check his work. Turns out the job was going to cost 3 times more than I was originally told on the phone. It was way out of my price range so I settled to just have my rear brakes and rotors* replaced. I was told that it would be 2-3 hours of work, making it sound like I would have my car back for the second half of the day, which sounded amazing, better than I was expecting. But then it took twice as long.... which is what I was originally expecting... it was just annoying because I got my hopes up after I was quoted 2-3 hours. All-in-all, I am not upset at the newer employee, I am upset that no one thought to double check his work before we set up an appointment, this is my day off and it was too late of notice to get an appointment elsewhere. 1-Star experience this trip, they weren't even apologetic for the misinformation. *Side note: Manufacturers are intentionally using lower grade materials on rotors now. Rotors are made to just barely pass the quality inspection. This is so the cars can be slightly lighter and more "eco-friendly". I am all for eco-friendliness, but these are made to be changed at almost every brake change, instead of once every 4 or so changes. The kicker is that they are still selling them for the same price (or really close to the same price). Not the shops fault at all, and nothing that they can do about it. Just something that I learned today that pissed me off. read more

Experienced the shop taking liberties when it came to fixing problems without first consulting me. I gave him a number of what I could afford to have done and agreed on the price and parts. When I came to pick the car up they gave me a complete different number, over $100 more, and said "well it needed to be done". I was not consulted, not even a phone call. He also looked at my wallet as I opened it and said "but it looks like you have the money". What the frack? I told him the number I could afford and he agreed not to go over it and then did. Sketchy. The shop was immaculately clean showing a pride in workmanship. The staff kept me updated knowing my time schedule and was very polite. The price was very competitive with my mechanic in Seattle. I am highly impressed with this place. I am moving to Sedona in a few days and wanted to tune up my car and check it out before the long haul. I picked this place because of it's high reviews on Yelp and I think they are great. Friendly service, AAA certified, convenient location, and very affordable. I got the Winter Special of $60 for an oil change, tire rotation, fluid check, vehicle inspection, brake check, and they replaced a rear light bulb for free. I think it was a killer deal. I've paid 40 just for tire rotation at other places. I would go here again (except I won't because I'm moving!) and I would definitely recommend this place to others. read more

I was in and had a backup system Installed in my truck. The salesman was great he talked to me about all the options and the differences In the cameras and monitors . I thought I knew what I wanted and there were so many choices I guess I was t sure but Adrian was very patient and knowledgable he showed me the differences and why to use the camera we chose. Another college age Daughter story. She took her Malibu in for brake service due to the grinding noise (not unlike most young drivers). So, she was charged an evaluation fee, was quoted for front brake pads and rotor replacement which, was expected but, they added a completely unnecessary brake fluid flush for approximately $150.00 I feel since, I've been in the automotive service field for 25 years that she was taken advantage of. The total bill for this still exceeded $600.00 after the AAA discount. I was shocked to say the least. She has been advised to never go there again and, to check with me before agreeing to something she doesn't understand. read more

Found these guys online, they had great reviews so I took my car in for A/C issues. They tried three times to fix the problem using everything from silicon to zip ties with no success and they told me I would need a new compressor. Spent the rest of the summer without A/C until this summer when I took it into a shop closer to where I live. They fixed the problem by simply replacing a pressure switch that Jackson's told me they had replaced and the local shop charged me half as much. Bottom line is I would not recommend Jackson's Auto Care to my worst enemy. read more
