What a great shop this is! I just found them a few weeks ago. I had work done on my Acura at a garage in Eugene and the problems weren't only not fixed but created a problem with my A/C. Jerry was so nice and scheduled to check out the car a few days out. I dropped off my car and the mechanic went over the issues I had: speedometer cable broken and replaced Idle control not working. Come to find out, my A/C wasn't working right either. The shop is very clean, as is the waiting area and bathroom. They had coffee and water available to drink while I waited. The work was done in a reasonable amount of time. I was warned that the A/C issue might involve having to remove the dash inside the car to find the problem and might be a pricey fix. Ugh. I was preparing for the worse and praying for the best. The speedometer cable was not broken but disconnected. Huge cost savings there and impt. because the part was no longer being manufactured. The Idle control part that was put on by the Eugene mechanics and didn't fix the idle problem wasn't the necessary part to fix the idle problem. My car has a manual transmission. It has two Idle control parts not one which is what automatic transmissions have. The one that was replaced was for hot starts...the one I needed was for cold starts which would solve both cold and hot start idle issues. I found a used fast idle control assembly part online and that fix was properly fixed now. The fix made by the garage in Eugene to address the fan issue for the radiator was not fixed. Mainly because the problem wasn't the fan but a dead battery. The Eugene mechanics repair that was made was to add a timer and sensor which, not only wasn't necessary but ended up being the cause of the A/C unit not working. It was blowing the A/C fuse making the A/C not work. Thankfully the dash wasn't taken out so the fix was not as expensive as I thought it would be. I am grateful for good and honest mechanics. I am frustrated with having to go back to my previous mechanic and try to get some money back on the work they did but I'm going to try. Wayne's is my new Acura mechanic. read more

My Toyota Highlander was in need of a 90,000 mile service. Wayne's garage was able to take me in in the same week that I called. Upon my arrival they asked about previous services that were done on the vehicle. It's a beautiful shop in a quiet waiting room however, I decided to leave and let them call me when my vehicle is ready. After they performed an initial inspection on my car, I received a call telling me of their recommendations to change the oil and filters, lubricate, chassis bushings, rotate my tires they flush them lead my brakes they drained and refilled the front and rear diff for Rentals. Power flushed my cooling system drain the transmission and much more. It's assuring to know my vehicle is ready for the spring and summer! I will bring my vehicles to Wayne's garage anytime repairs are needed. read more

First and foremost, I don't write reviews unless a business truly deserves it and potential customers need to be made aware. I am fairly proficient at working on cars and do all of my own repairs except for A/C systems as leaks are difficult to track down, and the system must be fixed correctly. I write this as Wayne's Garage has twice now scammed me and made either incorrect or unnecessary repairs and charged me for it. First and foremost, a few months ago, I sent one of my vehicles in to fix the AC with the AC working intermittently. Clearly not a leak as it had been doing that for months. It does not take months for freon to leak out of the system. Even for a small leak. I get a call back after they had it all day, and they say they can't find the issue and have no idea. They keep it overnight and the next day they call and say its my AC condenser. I told them it was hard to believe but I figured whatever, just do it as they've had my car for two days now. They call me an hour later and say they found the actual issue: a kinked AC hose (which would explain the intermittent AC). So I said great, no need to do the condenser. They told me too late, they had already done it. I laughed and told them if it wasn't the issue, you clearly lied and wanted to start throwing parts at it instead of diagnosing it correctly the first time. I was annoyed, but wasn't a Karen about it and let it slide. What they did was crappy, but I'm a pretty easy going honest lad. Fast forward a couple months later and I take my truck in, AC stopped working. I told them whenever I turned the AC on I smelled a chemical "freony' type smell. They said great we'll handle it. They call and say it was my condenser leaking. Me, without checking for a leak myself, said great, whatever get it done. They do it, button it up and a week later my AC stops working again. At this point, I'm pissed. For those of you who aren't mechanically inclined, to check for leaks, you must pressure test the system after any AC repair to check for leaks with a multigauge. If they would've done that (WHICH IS THE PROPER PROCEDURE) they would've known that there was still a leak. Nonetheless, they charged me $1000 to fix the condenser which wasn't the actual problem. I then took it upon myself to fix it and I found my evaporator core had an incredibly bad leak and one of the telltale signs of a bad evap core is bad AC smell in the cab. (See pictures below of my evap core). Once I fixed that, I pressure tested the system myself and it still had a leak. Using soap, I found the last leak, which was the condenser line fitting which did NOT have a rubber gasket on it. The techs either forgot, or didn't care enough to put the gasket on when they changed out my condenser. Long story short, they have made numerous errors in just two pretty simple AC jobs. Their shop rate is also ridiculously high. I thought going here was getting what I paid for, but I was clearly wrong. Please avoid these guys. Run far. read more

They fixed the AC quickly and charged a fair and honest good price. They also went over the top to take care of the car with no charge. One thing they did which they didn't have to do was fix the buttons on the key. The buttons to lock and unlock the car were smashed down into the key and they pulled the buttons out somehow and made it like new. I got my car back glistening. The guy at the front desk also left a great impression. Great experience. read more

Brought the car in for some maintenance after it started making some funny noises. Their mechanics diagnosed the problem as a faulty harmonic balancer and also made a list of other unrelated issues they found with the car. They provided their opinions on what they would suggest fixing now and what could be put off till later but didn't pressure us at all. The people at Wayne's were very helpful, friendly and courteous, facilities are clean and overall, I was pleased with their services. They have a courtesy shuttle should you need a ride to/from work while they work on your car although we didn't take advantage of this service so I can't say anything about how often it runs or if there's a specific radius it operates within. If Wayne's ever decides to open (even for a few hours) on the weekends, this would be a 5-star place for sure! read more

I've used Wayne's several times primarily because they have good reviews and they are across the street from me, which solves one major headache of leaving your car with mechanics. I've had some good experiences, but all mechanics seem to disappoint me eventually, and Wayne's has reached that point. I had a car with the same engine as the car I currently have, and it was having trouble starting. I knew the starters were not good on these cars from experience, and a check of the battery indicated to me I might be in for a new starter. So I went to Wayne's and told them that I figured the starter was failing and unless they established otherwise, that was what I needed. Right away I gave them a huge helping hand on diagnosing this easy to diagnose problem. Battery charged, not alternator. What else is there? Well, they called me after a while to say the battery cables were corroded, too much resistance, and they would take care of it. Surprised, I thought they had saved me money. I paid for the work and got the car back, which started with difficulty. A couple of days of this later, I confirmed nothing was fixed. I went back to Wayne's, complained that I paid for a diagnosis which was mostly pointless...and somehow, in spite of me giving them the answer and suggesting they might not need to charge for a diagnosis, they managed to arrive at the wrong answer, charged me for that, and charged me for work my car didn't need and which didn't fix the problem. Now, I'm sure the battery cables were old and the resistance was out of spec. But I don't give a damn, I'm not coming in to throw money around on trivial non issues. Wayne's grand concession, after confirming my diagnosis with my help in their parking lot was to waive the diagnosis fee for the second trip. Here's what they SHOULD have done. They should have waived that fee, and deducted the entire bill for the unnecessary work from the bill for the starter and installation thereof. They should have accompanied that with profuse apology, having failed as professional mechanics to check their work and listen to what customers are saying when they have information to share about their car's issue. The work itself I have no complaints about; it seems appropriate from what I can see. I may or may not return; they aren't on the cheap side either. read more

I had a check engine light on. They diagnosed this problem over the phone (lose gas cap) telling me to check the cap to see if it was tight. They also offered to "run a diagnostic" if I came over there. Lose gas cap, problem solved! Thanks so much for the excellent help! read more

We just got back from Wayne's Garage and it was great. My Mom's car has 108,000 miles on it and the fact it's even running is a credit to this auto shop. They never talk down to her or over-charge her, and they used PPE while taking the vehicle out for a final spin to make sure everything was working right. Great place and friendly people. read more

This place is great. I'm from out of town, and have been taken advantage of in the past when getting my car fixed because they think I'm just going to dip out if town and I won't do anything about what they charge. My 09' jetta tdi had a broken CV joint. I got it diagnosed at another place and they quoted me $481. I called to another shop in town, and they quoted me at $560! Then I call Wayne's garage, they told me with everything all together it should be around $310. So I set th appointment. Even with me being 4 hours late to my appointment, they still got it all taken care of and finished that same day. Not to mention, they brought my grand total under the estimate to $289. This place is way rad, luckily for them, I have a couple other thing I'm going to need done before I leave town, and they for sure have my business. read more

Portland, I drive an older Pathfinder but had just had some work done on it and although that took most of my travel money I decided to put some food in the ice chest had my daughter play hooky from school and headed to Portland! So excited, until around Springfield my car took a dump on us :( unsure what else to do I called a tow truck and asked if they could come get us and if the knew a reputable mechanic? They referred me to Wayne's garage, after explaining the situation these people began to go so over board to help us! It felt like family came to the rescue. If I could give this place a negative rating, I'd be at -5000, since that's how much money I don't have due to this place. This may be long, but bare with me, the time, money, and amount of problems this place is STILL giving me is worth the read. Unfortunately for me, my timing belt snapped on my 99 Passat about 2.5 years ago around October 2013. Helpless and not knowing what to do (I was 21 at the time), I searched up a reputable place online and found Wayne's. Good, wholesome men is what I got from the reviews, with a mom and pop shop feel, so I took my car in. Upon diagnosis, they told me the dreadful news that my engine was shot. A price tag of roughly $3,500 (parts and labor) was what I would have to pay, and at the time being in school and having two jobs, and my car only having 105K miles, I decided to fix it. They also suggested I get my water pump changed as well, but that would've added another $250 to the bill, so I passed. That initial payment would've been fine if it weren't for what happened a year later. Around January 2014, my timing belt snaps again. You could only imagine the amount of anger I felt! I brought my car back to Wayne's, demanding they tell me what happened to my rebuilt engine, especially since I was still under an 18 month warranty. They do a diagnosis and sure enough, my engine is shot once again. For anyone who knows about timing belts (I didn't at the time but I definitely know now), a timing belt job REQUIRES at least two things on a Passat: timing belt and the tensioner/pulley. I even went to a Volkswagon dealership to see what they require on a timing belt job, tensioner is on there loud and clear. When I spoke to one of the workers at Wayne's, he had the nerve to tell me, and I quote "You didn't tell us to replace the tensioner, so that's what broke this time." ........ Being 21 at the time, and having a grown man tell ME that I didn't tell him to fix a necessary part on my car after I spent $3,500 dollars?!?! I almost lost it. Yes, I told him not to do the water pump, but never in my life had I even heard of a tensioner before he told me this! This is when I learned that since they didn't replace that part on my engine the first time, it was NOT covered under warranty.... ....therefore another bill of roughly $3,500. To make this long story semi shorter, me and Wayne's, with the help of my father, got our bill down to $1,000 (Wayne's was so gracious to only charge us for some labor....sarcasm) but they did also include the water pump "for free" in there after I requested it, which I did appreciate. Flash forward to today, as I'm writing this review, my car is once again in the shop. I get a call from the auto shop where they say, and I quote "I don't mean to throw the last place you took your car to under the bus, but they really messed up on your gasket. It wasn't aligned right, therefore your exhaust is leaking/rattling." My gasket was completely replaced by Wayne's due to them rebuilding the engine. I am now stuck with another $300 bill to replace this! If anyone has read this, INCLUDING WAYNE HIMSELF, you have been warned! If it wasn't for my move away from Oregon I would've sued the place, but seeing as I didn't have the time nor money to do so, I filed with the BBB. When you mess up that bad on something, especially with a price tag that high, it would be great to just own up to it! These men really do seem nice in there, but I have no good feelings towards this place at all! I am now 24, and since taking my car to Wayne's I have spent almost $5,000 in three years because of this place. ****UPDATE ON REVIEW since Jerry was so kind to respond. Note my dad did help with this, also note my dad is not a mechanic, and ALSO note that I was WITH my father when we told them to repair the car, and NEITHER one of us were asked ANYTHING about a tensioner. ONLY the water pump. Note once again that when I went to an authorized VW dealership, when doing a timing belt job, tensioner is INCLUDED! It would be NEGLIGENT to NOT change the tensioner since both work hand in hand, and they go out around same time! ALSO NOTE I SPENT $3,500 to get my whole engine repaired after my timing belt broke!! "Replace what was necessary" Jerry? Yes the tensioner was NECESSARY! Jerry is STILL telling me that it was not only my (or my fathers) fault, but that if I were to have gotten the tensioner done, it would have added MORE TO MY $3,500 BILL?!?! ARE YOU SERIOUS JERRY! I stand by my first review and your response just goes to show the type of service here. read more

Repaired our alternator and brakes. Great crew and easy to talk to, however, was a bit annoyed to see that they charged $8.00 for filling up the windshield wiper cleaner.?? Why?? Greatest customer service and shop in town. Took my 04 Nissan xterra in with a broken timing belt (broke while driving) they replaced the belt and it fired right up. This is something that could have cost thousands of dollars if I had engine damage. They were straight forward with me and very informative. The final bill was well under what I had anticipated even with no engine damage. I would and will recommend these great people and shop to anyone. I took my 98' subaru into wayne's garage for a pre-sale inspection before buying it, and they said that for $95 they would look over the car for two hours (including lifting it and looking under it). the car "passed" inspection by their standards and within two days the car broke down, and it wasnt hard to see why; the brake caliper had seized up and the strut bar had snapped previous to the inspection. they lied and said that they had put the car on a lift and it had passed (which clearly was not the case. i dont know cars but it was apparent to me that the strut bar was detatched as soon as the car was lifted). Had to take in our vehicle twice for the same job, second time they damaged our dash and are blaming it on being the air bag and sun damage. We have an audi that is barely 7 years old. It has an indent in the dash that looks like a tool box and a puncture about a centimeter long. We didn't have any of this before we dropped it off, and it was there when we picked it up. Damage like this would not just show up that bad that quickly. No sun damage anywhere in the car. read more

I first came to Wayne's last year. I drove my truck cross-country and had the "check engine" light checked at several different garages along the way but none could really fix the problem. Wayne's did what other places couldn't. Huge relief! Today I went back to get an oil change and while it's not the cheapest around ($65), they'll do everything - check fluids and tire pressure and even rotating the tires (if asked) and washing/vacuuming. They noticed one of my fluids was low and let me know and I can keep an eye on it to see if it's an indication of a problem or just a fluke. Very happy with the service. read more

I'm new to the area as I've recently moved to finish school. Before I moved, I had plenty of space to work on my own vehicle and do some maintenance. Now that I've moved into an apartment complex, I just don't have the space to do so anymore, nor did I bring the necessary tools with me. I am very particular about my vehicle, and always worry about the job being done correctly when I have others work on it. I'll just say that I am very glad to have stumbled across Wayne's Garage. Not only did they do a thorough job, but they were accommodating to my concerns and weren't bothered that I called in after dropping my vehicle off once I began worrying about one of the services I had requested they perform (oil change, my vehicle uses a different weight than other similar models and this has been an issue that other owners of the same vehicle model as mine have experienced, and I had forgot to mention that to them). Once the job was complete, they gave me an overview of what was performed and what they had found, including honest recommendations on what could be serviced next (e.g. as far as they could tell my brake fluid was in fine condition, but recommended me to keep an eye on it as it's recommended to be flushed/replaced every two years). Overall, I had a multi-point inspection, oil/oil filter change, engine air filter change, and tire rotation performed (all at my request). Each of these was done expertly. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and am truly happy to find quality like this away from home. The people who I talked with were pleasant and honest, and I appreciated them giving me a ride home and picking me up later when the service was complete. I am new to Eugene and previously had a trusted, honest, honorable local independent mechanic who became more like family over the years. I always felt confident leaving my vehicle(s) with brothers "Al" and "Ron" over 25 years. When I left my home state to drive across the country to my new state, I thought I'd never find that kind of genuine care, respect and straight-up answers (with options) with a different mechanic somewhere new. Especially, and I hate to stereo-type (since I can fix almost anything/have my own set of tools,) being a single female needing immediate service to my vehicle. I am so thoroughly pleased I chose Wayne's Garage to diagnose and repair my transmission issue. This place was exactly right on! From the moment Bob answered the phone about 5:25pm Monday afternoon (they close at 5:30) I could tell my vehicle, my beloved Mazda, would be in great hands. Bob was patient, asked me to explain in detail what my vehicle was experiencing and set me up to be seen 1st thing Wednesday morning (the soonest his diagnostic guy would be available.) So, only 1 full business day before my vehicle could be examined and repaired. On Wednesday morning, Bob was there to greet me promptly @ 7:30am with my paperwork ready to be reviewed/double-checked in person. Bob understood that I wouldn't not be considering a replacement or rebuild for my transmission, weighing the expense against the total value of my vehicle. Bob left me a voicemail by noon the same day, letting me know he had news/information regarding the likely cause. I wasn't able to return his call until almost 3pm. When Bob wasn't available, Brad requested I call back in 15 minutes to speak directly with Bob. I waited 20 & sure enough, Bob answered. He thoroughly and very clearly explained that the most significant source of my trouble was a bad sensor in the transmission and they could replace it the same day. It had to be replaced regardless for my vehicle to work effectively. After a new sensor was installed, they'd know for sure if that was the only problem. Bob gave me an estimate on final total cost (including diagnostic, part and labor)...if the sensor was the only issue contributing to my transmission trouble. I researched the cost of the part, factored in the diagnostic price scale and determined, with labor, that Bob's quote was both quite fair and competitive. I gave consent for the repair. Before we ended the phone consult, Bob also cautioned me on 2 fluids that would need attention in the near future, but did NOT have to be addressed at that time. I was impressed by his consideration for my imperative need to keep cost to an absolute minimum. Just over an hour later Bob called again to report, with enthusiasm (a sign to me, as an interpersonal communications expert, that he genuinely cares for Wayne's Garage customers and revels in delivering good news) that the sensor was the only problem and my vehicle was running/shifting/driving great!! Although I noticed Wayne's garage offered complimentary shuttle service (exact details unknown,) I had my own arrangements and made plans to pick up my vehicle the next morning. I inquired about possibly paying by credit card over the phone, which they gladly accept. I ended up paying in person the next day, but it was good info for future reference. When I arrived to retrieve my vehicle, I noticed it was clean and shiny, almost polished. What a great complimentary bonus! I prefer to hand wash my vehicles myself but cannot do so where I currently live, so have been relying on drive-thru car washes. They just aren't the same. The next awesome free service was a deep vacuum to the interior of my vehicle. Spotless! And as a baseball mom with black upholstery & carpet, that's next to impossible. It was very obvious the crew took their time to detail every inch of my shiny, fixed, sporty little car. Hats off! The BEST part of my experience? Having the total final cost 1/8 LOWER than the quote given. I'll take that kind of price differential all day long!! But what was the one critical element that truly made Wayne's Garage earn 5 stars from me (I'm a stickler in terms of dolling out a perfect review)? Outstanding, up-front, present and hands-down top notch dedication to overall customer comfort level and satisfaction. From initial phone call all the way through handing me my keys, it was consistent, friendly, accommodating and gave me a renewed sense of confidence and dedication to a new auto repair shop other than my "family" mechanics in my hometown. Maybe because at Wayne's garage, they sincerely treat you like family. I will never go anywhere else as long as I'm living in the area and would/will recommend them to anyone! I want to keep my business local, but for that kind of money, I told them no thanks. They can keep my $45.00 for a brake inspection. It will be the last money they get from me. I drove my car from San Francisco to Eugene and it started to overheat at the end of the journey. I called Waynes and made an appt to have her checked out the next day. I'd added some coolant which seemed to temporarily fix the problem, but I wanted to be sure we would be ok to drive home. The guy we dealt with, Ronald, was extremely thorough and conscientious. He tested the coolant system under several stressful circumstances and was able to give my car a clean bill of health. The unbelievable part? He didn't charge us because the car didn't need anything. Oh, and washed the car. I'm still shocked. I had pretty much lost all faith in the "good guys" when it comes to auto service and repair until now. I am seriously considering driving back up here whenever I need my car worked on. Honesty, integrity, and knowledge are what I look for in a good mechanic - this guy has got it going on! read more

I took my daughters VW Passat in for repairs last week. The customer service I received was the best I have gotten from a garage in years. Ronald called me daily to report on the status of the repairs. This is an older car so I didn't have an delusions that it would be an inexpensive endeavor I just wanted it to be completed timely and reasonable. My expectations were met on both accounts! Wayne's Garage showed me honesty and integrity every step of the way. Ronald addressed the problem with the car and never recommended additional work that was costly or not necessary. I went to Wayne's garage when my vehicle stopped running. I had heard good things about them so I thought I would give them a try. They called me halfway through the day to let me know that my fuel pump needed to be replaced and that it would cost me $1,000. When I asked them for a breakdown on the costs they said that the fuel pump was $550 and the labor portion was $450. Well, my brother is an auto mechanic but he was too busy at his job to do it for us. However, he was able to get the part for me for $240, the same price it costs Wayne's garage. That's over a $300 profit their making on the part alone. Now, I understand that all companies are in business to make a profit and that everything you buy has a mark-up to it. But the suggested retail price from the company my brother got it from was $450. When I asked them to install the part that I got they said that they wouldn't do it because they only install quality AC delco fuel pumps. When I informed them that it was an AC delco fuel pump new in box they started backpeddling. In the end they said that they weren't willing to do it unless I bought the part from them. So I had the car towed somewhere else. What a great decision that turned out to be. When I paid the diagnostic bill at Waynes the service writer asked me if "my brother was going to spend the 4-5 hours it takes to replace the fuel pump". I was shocked at that since the other shop I took it to said that its a 2 hour and 15 minute job. HE WAS TRYING TO RIP ME OFF.The other shop was willing to use the part I had and did the work for $200. So even after paying the tow bill I still saved over $175 just in service costs. So, I saved over $485 by taking it somewhere else. read more

Honest, thorough, caring, and precise. We are now fans of Wayne's Garage! Our family recently took a weekend getaway to Neskowin. The trip was so relaxing and the weather was great. We took in the sights, the beach, and the summer sun. Understandably, we were on relaxed vacation brain, so when one of the cars in our convoy started to have trouble on the way back home, we felt defeated (and our spirits, deflated). A call to AAA helped with the tow, but we still didn't know where to go when we got back to Springfield. The AAA agent suggested a couple of places and I randomly selected Wayne's. I am so glad I did. Enroute to the garage, I called to notify that we would be coming in from the coast via tow. It would be after hours, so I was assured that there was a drop box where we could leave our keys for the morning, and a place the tow truck could park our car. Brad called us the next morning to let us know that they were going to troubleshoot the problem and get back to us as soon as possible. He was very responsive, calling my husband back with reports on the estimate, amount of time needed for the fix and any repair recommendations he found. Once we were told it was the clutch, we immediately feared the costs would skyrocket, but throughout the process, we never felt like we were being scammed or lied to. In fact, all the work done was necessary, reasonably priced, and quick. And did I mention that they washed our car before we picked it up? They went above and beyond! We have only been in Oregon for a year, and have not required a garage for repairs until now. We are happy to say that we will now be doing business with Wayne's Garage in Springfield, for all of our automotive needs in the future. Thanks guys!!! read more

Wayne's Garage seems to do pretty good work. So far I have found them to be trustworthy and competent. They are a little pricey perhaps.

These guys are great. They do not play games and were very honest about the condition of my car. I recommend them highly.

My husband and I just recently moved to Eugene. We drove cross country from the Chicago-land area. One day, not long after our arrival ,we noticed the car battery light on. We took it to Orielly auto and asked them to do a scan. (Keep in mind folks that these individuals working at auto parts stores are NOT mechanics.) They did and interpreted the hand held thing to read the code as a bad battery. Needless to say we bought a battery. The next day the same light went on. I was driving and remember seeing WAYNE'S GARAGE during one of our shopping excursions and drove the car straight in. "Bob", at Wayne,s said it definitely was the alternator and said they could fix it same day. Gave us a ride home, very friendly, offered us options, and even told some dumb jokes in the process. Oh , maybe that was me. But myself being in the auto parts service industry for more than 15 would definitely go back to WAYNE's and no where else. Honest people with honest prices. Oh, the light never came back on either. read more
