Best automotive experience I've ever had. Was greeted by a hardy "Hello!" I don't remember the guys name but he was easy to talk to and very friendly. I had just moved to the area and wanted to find a good mechanic. My car is 15 years old with 90K miles on it. I love my car so I'm picky about who is going to work on it. Most all of my lights were out and it was time for an oil change. Looked up the nearest repair shop and found River Road Automotive. There were a couple of cars ahead of me so I had a friend pick me up and take me home. Had no idea how long it would take so I settled on at least a next day pick up. By the end of the day the problem was fixed and the oil was changed. He even reset my oil monitor! Without a doubt this will be the only place I'll take my car. We took our car, which wouldn't start, to RR Auto last week for a diagnosis and was told that there was no compression and the engine would need to be replaced, for more than $3000, and would be replaced by one that had more miles than our current engine. So we had it towed home and then decided to double check with a Toyota dealer, and they had it finished in one day. New spark plugs and a couple of other minor things. They said the engine was flooded and that was the main reason it didn't start. We were on the verge of giving up on the car. So, I recommend getting a second opinion if your experience seems off in any way. read more

We are sorry that we supported this business over the years sending customers their way! My father in-law called them about his 2008 Chevy 1500 Duramax replacing the lower cooler line to the transmission they told him he wouldn't be able to install it, and they recommended splicing it and flaring it using hose clamps, what a crock of crap! I had the whole line ran and installed in less than 10 min they either don't know what they are doing or just lazy! I used to recommend them but not anymore! read more

I was a customer for close to 20 years. My last experience has ended my frequenting this establishment. Two years ago (4-2019) I paid $600 for front and rear brake replacement. A month ago because of squeaking brakes I took it in and was told the right front caliber had gone bad and was a special order part and was to cost around $300. I called around locally for the same part and found it was a common in stock part and cost about half the price for the part quoted. When I went to pick up the car I was then told by Adam that because he works alone he had misdiagnosed the problem and that a squirt of silicone might fix the problem. I was told to come back if the problem returned which it did about 4 hours later. Due to the contradictory story being told I decided to go elsewhere. Today I went to Joe's Garage who informed me that the both rear brakes were worn down to a couple of millimeters each and had gouged the drums. So now with 30k miles on brand new brakes I have a $400 repair. read more

First of all, River Road Automotive has the comfiest waiting room I've ever been in. I highly recommend kicking off your shoes off and hanging on the couch. Second of all, Wade fixed the air conditioner in my car when no one else could, at a fast speed, AND for an affordable price. Once he discovered the part he needed to replace, he placed an order and got the part within an hour. That mattered a lot to me since I took off work time to be there and didn't want to have to go back. These guys are very fair, I highly recommend them. (I did have an issue with one thing, which is that I wasn't quoted a price for the diagnostic until after the service. I don't think this was malicious, they were just busy, and I didn't ask. $60 was a very fair price though, and much cheaper than other places.) read more

I would not recommend River Road Auto at all. I took my car in because the heater stopped working. I was told that he would "take a look at it" in a few minutes. He came back 1n a few minutes and told me to try my dealer first, to see if it was still under warranty. Then he charged me $60 for a "diagnostic" whatever that means. He never mentioned a charge until that moment. I made an appointment with him because my dealer was trying to rip me off too. I was told it would be another $300, including a part they had to order. Next day, my son-in-law found a video on Facebook addressing this exact issue with my exact make and model. He is not a mechanic, he's a computer nerd, and he fixed the problem in 20 minutes with a part that cost $10. Needless to say, I cancelled my appointment with RR Auto. They took me for $60 and tried to take me for a lot more. I live on SSA so money is hard to come by. I won't be back. read more

I had my water pump go out in my Durango. I called several places around Eugene and was quoted anywhere from $400-650 for the job and some places had a 3-4 week wait to get to it. I had several people refer me to River Road Auto and decided to give them a call. They were very easy to talk to and were able to accommodate me. I had my rig towed in to them in the afternoon, on Monday. At 7:30 in the morning on Wednesday, they called and said it was finished. They had quoted me $377 to complete it, but they charged me $50 less than the quote because they didn't need as much coolant as they thought. They were honest and fast. I will be using them in the future, if needed. I would definitely refer them to anybody that needs automotive repairs done to their rig. read more

I had a very bad experience here. From my car being not completely diagnosed, to a longer than estimated repair time, to rude customer service, to being significantly overcharged, the entire experience was negative. This was 6 months ago and even though I didn't leave a review then, I am now because the exact thing that was repaired is now needing to be replaced again because according to another mechanic, not all the parts were replaced (even though I was charged for those parts by RR Auto). Not to mention that they have non-licensed mechanics doing all the work while the owner simply works the front desk. Their incompetence is actually dangerous. I'd sue them but it isn't worth the effort. But I will NEVER go here again and will advise everyone I know to do the same. read more

Best shop ever! Wade is a master mechanic and has helped me numerous times with my Toyota 4 runner. If he is unsure of the fix (happened once with electrical) he will find the answer and work his magic. And the price? Always reasonable and has always been less expensive than any other places I have checked out for like repairs. I'm treated so well and feel completely at ease with this shop. River Road Auto is not only a lifesaver, but they are as honest as they come. Not only did Adam fix BOTH of my vehicles in a few hours each, he also fixed my truck for nearly $1,300 less than a major chain quoted me. A major chain that my pickup truck needed over $1,500 in front end repair alone. On top of that, they quoted me $400 for brake pads. Adam took a quick look and found that the other guys had tried to replace a few things that didn't actually need replacing. He was able to do the front end work that DID need to be done, as well as the brake pads, for right around $700 total. Much better than nearly two grand, and he certainly did a better job than the other guys would have. I ended up taking my other car, a Scion, to him as well, and he was able to diagnose the problem spot on from my vague, clueless-about-cars, verbal description. Once again, he fixed the problem in a few hours, and for a really reasonable price. He was even willing to show me exactly how much he pays for parts, tell me exactly how much he has to mark them up to make a profit, and he was even willing to show me what went wrong in my car so that I knew he wasn't giving me the run around. He was great about explaining things in a way that I could understand, with me being clueless about cars. On top of the quick, quality, and low price repairs, everyone I spoke to was also super friendly and helpful, and genuinely so. I couldn't be happier with my experience. read more

If I could give them 10/5 stars I absolutely would. The service and kindness went above and beyond anything I could ask for. I do travel nursing for a living and Adam, Wade and the team have worked on my car twice, so far. My sister lives in the area and was recommended by a coworker when my car needed to be looked at. They are so quick and friendly. I was having car issues months later and states away and they went through everything to try to diagnose it from afar. A few months later I was coming back through on my way to Alaska and had my check engine light go off, they got me in the next day, solved it, and even had me come back to inspect and make sure my car was good to go for the long journey. I've been going to River Road Automotive for over a decade. Wade is the current owner, and he's always been honest and fair. Today, I had to get my alternator replaced. I thought that I had done so not that long ago, and asked him if he had worked on that part. Checking his records, I was right, not more than a few years ago. "I back my work, and the parts I use, and it's wrong that the part should have quit that fast." He refunded me $100, explaining that he needs to make sure that not only is his work good, but so is whatever he puts in his customer's vehicles. If that isn't integrity and honesty, then I don't know what is. I highly recommend River Road Automotive to anyone, and I will be going back, but hopefully, not too often. Drove up in the morning to say that after 100,000 miles my Honda Fit was running fine, but wasn't it due for some maintenance work? Adam spent time on the computer looking up what was recommended and reported only a transmission fluid change was due. That afternoon I was back for the same. When Adam brought out my keys after 15 minutes, he reported that the transmission fluid was clean and did not need replacing. I will never go there again for any car problem. I do not trust them with my car at all. I took my car in for a coolant leak. They then put in a new thermostat and a fuel pump $450. After that fix, my car was still leaking coolant. I took it back to them. They then charged me $50 to replace a hose. Guess what? The coolant was STILL leaking after that. I took it back to them a third time hoping they would fix it for free. They called me back and said I had a crack in my radiator $450 fix. I said okay and paid it. A week or so later, I took my car into my mechanic who just got back from a sugary leave. He lifted my car up only to see that the hose for my transmission fluid had been broken. I was almost completely out. He explained to me that the hose was broken during the installation of the radiator I had put in. The repair cost $200. I called the mechanic at river road automotive to inform them, and the only help they offered was to try to fix my car again! It took it to them three times to fix one leak then in the process they caused a second leak that almost costs me a new transmission! I will never suggest those slum mechanics to anyone. I spent way too much on my car and trusted that It was in good hands, and it almost costed me another $1000 if I didn't catch the broken transmission hose! DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! read more
