Hey, why is it these "world famous" places aren't known anywhere else in the world? All the time I was near the ocean, I never heard of Jocko's Chicken and Seafood. I only knew about them when I was driving down U.S. 127 to Cincinnati or across S.R. 129/High Street through Hamilton. $7.99 for 5 pieces of good-sized shrimp, 2 pieces of fish, and 2 side items isn't bad. That said, I kind of choked when she said $10 something after I'd added a drink. This is a fast food place, after all. Then, while I was standing there, someone came into the store complaining that he didn't get his fish sandwich, and the gentleman who responded to him said that they threw out the fish because it wasn't very fresh. That made me feel both good and nervous. What else wasn't fresh and needed to be tossed? (Hopefully not my cookies!) Also, as I was waiting, the woman from the cash register was mentioning orders, as they apparently don't have a numbering system to make it easier to announce when food is ready. As my food arrived, I went out to a clean table. In fact, all of them seemed to be clean. The shrimp were a good size, but had zero taste, as far as I could tell. The breading didn't really add any taste either. The fish was good, and a couple of times, I wondered if it was some sort of funky chicken--no, it didn't dance, but usually, places just serve generic white fish because people don't like fish. The Macaroni and Cheese was good, as were the mashed potatoes and gravy. The hush puppies were dry enough to be used instead of paper towels. Maybe, they could put some in the rest room, if they run low on paper towels. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I got a good portion of food. I just wished it was bursting with flavour. Oh, and as a few people had left the restaurant, another woman came into the dining room and wiped all of the tables. Someone cares!

Divider window needs to be cleaned.

The fish is lightyears ahead of Long John Silvers. The batter is perfect and you can actually sea fish.

All of the workers were very nice. The food was good! It was pretty dirty, that's why I only gave four stars.

Greasy low grade food. KFC or FR much better. Too scared to go back. Didn't eat that much. Place just seemed unclean

I absolutely love fried chicken. Jocko's is pretty much as good as it can get. It ranks favorably with Wagners in Oldenburg

Our server, Chloe, introduced herself with a smile and provided us with a quick refresher. I knew from her energy that we were going to be in great hands for the evening. (and I was not wrong, lol) Chloe was personable, attentive, friendly, and down to earth. The service she provided us was excellent! I ordered the Swamp Thing for a cocktail. Sweet, fruity, and pretty... that green cocktail did exactly what it needed to do, lol. FIVE STARS! Now, on to the food... The Gator Bites are a MUST. I ordered the hot honey sauce on the side just to play it safe and I am glad I did, because babyyyy, that spice had no boundaries. If you're a lover of spicy things, you'll be good to order as is, lol! I also ordered the Roasted Oysters. Another MUST! The oysters had a parmesan crust with lemon garlic butter drizzled over them... They were gone in minutes! I was on the fence for my entree, but then my girl Chloe clocked that Pasta Mardi Gras and the rest is history. It was creamy, savory, and packed with flavor. I knew my girl wouldn't let me down! Our experience was excellent! I definitely recommend reservations. Pappadeaux wasn't terribly busy when we arrived, but by the time we finished up & headed out, they had a line out the door. If you're in the Cincy area, add to your foodie list! Overall, a great restaurant for a GNO, date night, or any celebration.

For appetizers, we had the roasted oysters and the hot honey gator bites. Everything was phenomenal. The special had a white wine sauce to die for and everything was wonderfully seasoned, I also had my salmon blackened which was chef's kiss. The gator bites were tender like chicken and the oysters were so flavorful! For the drink, I had the Swamp Thing cocktail and I was happily buzzed after finishing it. It was sweet, refreshing and the alcohol wasn't overpowering. Highly recommend Pappadeaux's if you're ever in the Cincinnati area!!! Customer Service: Chloe was our waitress and she was knowledgeable, sociable, funny and caring. She did a wonderful job in giving recommendations and telling us about the specials. She checked on us consistently and was never overbearing. The staff was timely with the appetizers, and the ebb and flow of the crowd seemed under control and all waiters/waitresses were ensuring orders were correct. Thank you Chloe for the top-tier service!! Ambiance: Pappadeaux's is typically upscale causal to business casual, but everyone is free to come as they are! It is family friendly for all ages. The decor gives an intimate open dining vibe. When it gets busy, it's BUSY. But the wait will be worth it! I guarantee there is something for everybody. This place is perfect for any occasion, celebration, graduation, birthday, date night, family dinner, a day trip - whatever your heart desires. The Cincy location is the best!

First thing first, we got there for an early dinner so the place wasn't packed, with plenty of parking space too outside. We were greeted and seated immediately in one of their booths. I enjoyed the little details they put on their sea-themed decorations, definitely made me smile. The menu was very clear and straight-forward. I wanted to order everything. I got the 1/2 pound of shrimp and crawfish in their buttery garlic sauce, while he got the 1/2 pound of shrimp and crawfish with sides of 1/2 pound of sausages with their Boom sauce (all of their seasonings mixed together: Original/Crafty Cajun, Lemon Pepper, and Buttery Garlic). Man, it was all so juicy and paired well with the sauce - my head wanted to explode from how good every bite was. I gotta say that his Boom seasoning was better-balanced compared to my buttery garlic though, they did the spices right on that Boom sauce. I also ordered the Pina Colada for drink, you can't go wrong with some Pina Colada. It was fantastic, I couldn't be happier with everything. Service was great, there was a minor error with the bill but the server quickly fixed it with no issue when informed. Will I ever go back here? A thousand times yes.

You'd be better off buying calamari from the freezer section at Kroger.

Take yourself out on your own darn date. Why not?…read more You deserve it. And when you do..... Order the Pink Starburst for 10 buckeroos. A steal. It's pretty and pink and glows. Second choice was an expressotini. The crab rangoons for 6 bucks are a steal. Who can't resist crispy fried filled puffs filled with cream cheese ? Not this girl. Then I took Anthony's suggestion and went with a coconut spaghetti. If you're wondering what that is...... It's flippin fabulous. It's mandarin egg noodles tossed with shrimp, vegetables, in a savory brown sauce. Sold. The curiosity alone was enough to order it. Now on to the ambience. 9.5 outta 10. The music is in the background and not too loud to not hear the conversations your eavesdropping on in the next booth. And any place you go and hear Fleetwood Mac is a plus. The bar has a cool vibe and you don't have to break the bank. And!!! best part yet, there are books all around the place to read if you get bored or have a boring date. And Lori is such a darn hard worker with a smile a great hair. And thankfully, they do Apple Pay.

Our waitress was Sheridan and she provided absolutely superb service. Major shout-out. They didn't have the beer my husband ordered so she took the initiative to return to the table with two samples of similar beer for him to try. She answered all our questions and made appropriate recommendations. We were checked on often enough, a soda refill appeared without my asking, and she neatly boxed up our leftovers. She was pleasant and kind and one of the best servers ever. Very classy decor here; subtle touches of the orient; wood, leather, and...books! And a very elegant bar. Motown music was playing, and festive but not excessive Christmas decorations were up. And yes, a fortune cat was there to greet us. Food arrived quickly. We had the Thai Dumplings app which was just enough for two to whet the appetite. It was tangy and peanutty and the cool cucumber slices a perfect contrast. My husband had the Green Mango Grouper and loved it. I had a taste and it was fantastic, fresh white fish and delectable toppings, spice level 2 was just right. I tasted it and agreed it was excellent and right then we made plans to return. I had Siam Curry with chicken. Full of flavor and wonderful vegetables especially the snow peas. Spice level 3 is described as Thai Spicy and they are not kidding. They do not wimp out on the spice here so use caution. (For example at Thai Thara in Richmond Indiana I go with 5 of 5 and I still need to add some spice.) Sheridan brought extra chili oil if needed. I would recommend erring on the side of lower spice with the option to add. We took home an order of Singapore Noodles to share for supper tomorrow along with our leftovers. I snuck a taste before putting it away and it's delicious! Looking forward to another visit soon and I think I'll try one of their cocktails. Highly recommended!

The wicker chairs in the section to the left of the bar as you face the bar were unusually deep and low. Over time I think we all adjusted, but sitting in them definitely felt unusual. There are other chairs throughout the restaurant. I recommend finding a table with different chairs. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very efficient. We hadn't checked on the website, but found out Thursday is oyster day, with $1 oysters and fried oysters and $1.50 for Oyster Bienville. The fried oysters were delicious. The raw oysters were good, though I had one that was gritty. We are going again in two weeks and will try the Oyster Bienville along with other assorted oysters. Two of us had the special Pan Seared Sea Bass. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The crisp on the top was delicious and the fish itself was delicate and moist. It did indeed melt in my mouth. The potatoes were very good, though I didn't finish all of them. The greens were good. Mark had a ribeye and is still raving about it today. He ordered the preparation version made with just salt and pepper. He also had a cup of gumbo. He said it had an amazing depth of flavor. We wrapped up with dessert. Three folks had Key Lime Pie. I opted for Karma's Opera Crème Cake. Oh my goodness, it was huge, sweet and delicious. I tried a bit of key lime and it just didn't compare. That said, those who had the Key Lime Pie loved it. The food was pretty bland, and lacked any form of spice. Not to mention it was hard to tell what was actually in it, like a lot of the ingredients tasted over cooked. So yeah it's going to be a no for me.

The batter was that perfect golden crisp where every bite had that little crunch, but the fish itself was flaky and melt-in-your-mouth soft. You know when something is fried just right and not heavy or greasy at all? That. And the tartar sauce?? Not your average situation. It had this fresh, almost elevated flavor that made everything even better. I was literally dipping every last bite like I didn't trust the plate not to disappear. But honestly, what made it even more special was the people. Every single staff member was so kind and welcoming, and the chef actually came out to talk with us. I got to thank him personally for making me such an amazing gluten-free meal, which meant a lot because that's not always easy to find. The owner takes time away from the kitchen to talk his guests like family. In a small town, you can tell the vibe is just that - they all know each other. We had a large group celebrating Mother's Day and between us I think we had 7 different menu items. The rib platter and grouper were among those and a "first come first serve" dish. You can tell they go fast and my husband got the last rib platter. They were juicy and full of that great smoke flavor you want to have. I had the fish and chips, an easy favorite it was cooked perfect with no fry oil leaking off the fish and the taste of cornmeal taking front and center. My teenagers had the grilled chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger. Both exceptional. In our family, we tend to share like it was all one table meal anyways so it was great to see not one dish we had wasn't worth the trip there. It's my Mother-In-Law's favorite local restaurant so to get in (no reservations needed), sit down and have a great meal was awesome. Now; they do have signs about not hanging around too long because of how busy they stay so if you are one that likes to digest their meal for awhile at the restaurant, you may not be able to depending on the crowd. Overall; great place and I am a sucker for those local, small business owner places.
