I really enjoyed our experience here. The food was delicious, reasonably-priced, and the portions were large!! My family came in on a Thursday evening. We chose our own seat. Our server was very nice and allowed more than enough time to make our selections. We ordered salmon croquettes, tilapia, and catfish dinners. We also had lemon pepper chicken wings, a turkey burger, and sides. The turkey burger came out about 5 minutes after everything else but everything arrived piping hot. We all enjoyed our food. I ordered the croquette with greens and Mac and cheese. The flavor of the greens was unique, may have had nutmeg or cinnamon. The Mac and cheese was good and the croquettes reminded me of my childhood.. Delish!! We ordered a bean pie to go... I just warmed up a slice... It was even better today than yesterday. I would have given 5 stars easily but there was a little (big in my eyes) violation of kitchen etiquette. Our server took out the garbage, brought the garbage can back, and began packing carry out orders. He very well may have washed his hands prior to bringing the can back, but he clearly sat the can down, then began packing orders. Everything is very salty I bought 3 dinners and everything has so much salt it's not edible at all. Almost 40 dollars in the trash. Nobody taste the food before they serve it. And the ginger juice is old is was even bad. I will never come back. I'm very upset all my money in the trash. read more

When I go to a new city, I make it a point to eat at the local spots. I took a chance on Rasheedah's Cafe. You just don't go to a restaurant based on no recommendations and no word-of-mouth. But when I saw that they have jerk lamb and cream of wheat corn bread, I said this place has to hit the spot...and it did. I had the jerk lamb with Mac n cheese and collard greens. The lamb melted in my mouth, it was so tender. The cream of wheat bread had just the right amount of sweetness without overdoing it. You walk in and you feel like, hmmm I've been here before. This place is a cross between a church basement and somebody's grandmomma's house. Now, if you're not Black and you don't know about the church and the church basement, that is where all the mothers and grandmothers of the church cook up amazing meals for the entire church. This restaurant takes me back to a time when people cooked with butter, and no one cared about certified organic, locally sourced, hand crafted this, no sugar that. This place is about good food. Period. This place does not care about ambiance and I like that. Sit down and wait for your food or call it in, it doesn't matter. The wait is not long, and there's plenty of room inside to eat your food in the restaurant if you so desire. I will definitely be a regular at this spot. My only issue is that they're only desserts are chocolate and lemon cake. I need my sweet tooth smacked in the mouth after eating such an amazing meal. They have some of the best soul food I've had since moving to Ohio. The food is exceptional and I love supporting local businesses. I ordered the collard greens, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, green beans, and corn bread to go. The food holds very well for takeout and is simply delicious. I called today to place a pickup order and the lady that answered the phone and took my order was extremely rude and sounded like she didn't want to be there. When I picked up my meal, I noticed my cornbread wasn't in the bag. I asked for my cornbread which I ordered over the phone. The lady said rudely "you gone have to pay for that". I said no problem because I ordered this over the phone. Apparently she didn't take my order accurately. I then paid for the cornbread and the gentleman working there put it in my bag. He then grabbed me another piece of cornbread and I reached out thinking that he would place it in my hand; instead he threw it on the counter with an attitude. And one of the busiest places to get REAL food on a Sunday. Especially when you have a taste for soul food. The only drawback is the wait, which was a tad confusing because there are no signs indicating pick ups versus those ordering to actually eat there. Also will be the cheapest place to get a drink since it's from a vending machine at 1.50. That's a gift and a curse. Because obviously you would have to buy another if u wanted more unless it sweet tea you desire, which she makes by the way. We waited 20 mins before we placed an order, and about 20 more getting our food. But believe me, it was well worth the wait! So I've lived near Rasheeda's for almost 3 years now and finally got around to trying the place. I went on a Friday evening with friends. We arrived at 6, to a mostly empty restaurant. While I waited for another friend to arrive, people came in to pick up orders to go. We ordered and had our food fairly quickly, despite only a server and a cook working. I had the beef short ribs, my wife the philly cheese steak, and a friend the fried chicken. I loved the beef short ribs, very tender and flavorful. The fried chicken was great, as were the sides we tried: mac and cheese, buttered potatoes and sweet yams. The chili cheese fries were underwhelming, but then again, I am not a fan of Cincinnati chili. Leave your expectations for decor at the door, as it is nothing fancy. Between the five of us, we had: - 2 cheeseburgers - 1 fried chicken (dark meat) plate - 1 Philly cheese steak - 1 chili cheese fries (lunch portion) - 3 sides mac & cheese - 2 sides corn bread - 1 side candied yams - 1 side cole slaw - 1 side greens - 1 side beans - 5 pops - 1 water A few observations: - The food takes a while to come out. This is because they make it just for you when you order it. - The greens have a Cincinnati twist - they're spiced with cinnamon or nutmeg The portions are HUGE - large enough to do them family style. I want to give this place five stars very badly, but the only downside is the interior of the restaurant. I do not need for every place I walk into to have a completely polished finish, but a little care can go a long way. However, you should forget all that an go try this place. This is easily the best soul food I have had in a long time. Rasheedah's make top tier food that sticks to your ribs and makes you feel all warm at home while you eat it. I got the Salmon Croquette with mac and cheese, greens, and yams and everything was spot on. Never had a salmon croquette before but the reviews raved and I echo what they are saying. It was so flavorful and blended well with every side I tried. Greens were tasty and salty, the mac was gooey and cheesy, and the yams were perfectly sweet. Heaven. I would say call ahead and get the order to-go personally. Service is not what it should be. When I was in there there were only two people and the sever/expediter had one speed and it wasn't that fast. The food does make it worth the wait. Being the good bridesmaid that I am, I recently helped secure catering for my friend's wedding. She needed (halal) food that would appeal to a wide variety of people and palates. Rasheedah (the namesake of the restaurant) did not disappoint. She was great to work with! She answered all calls personally and treated all my questions/ideas/suggestions seriously. She didn't once get annoyed or frustrated when I called back for the upteenth time about our order (you know, brides can be picky...). Her prices were more than reasonable and included a mix and match of entrees and sides. She did ask that we pay 1/2 in advance, which was not a problem. We ended up ordering (for 85 guests): baked chicken, meatloaf, mac and cheese, green beans, butter potatoes, and the cream of wheat bread. It was amazing! The chicken breasts were so moist and tender, which was a surprise because the bride had requested all white meat. I don't think I've ever had chicken like that. The meatloaf was dense and filling, and the sides were scrumptious. I also asked Rasheedah to include a pack of to-go containers with our order so that at the end of the night, if guests wanted they could take some home. Sure enough, with her generous portions, there was food aplenty for everyone to leave with a meal good for the next day. I think our only disappointment was that we couldn't serve her famous beef ribs. Rasheedah could only spare about 20 orders of ribs, and we knew EVERYONE would want some, so we didn't risk it. But if your party is somewhat smaller, you can serve the ribs. read more

I found out today after calling multiple times to place an order for pick-up, that if you call too early (after they open & before ~ 11am when help arrives) that they do not answer their phones as it goes straight to voicemail. I can really appreciate a place that makes your food to order. Some people may complain that it may take a while to receive your food, but let's think about that for a moment......hmmmm..... That means that your food hasn't been sitting on a warming tray for the last five hours waiting for someone to order that particular meal. This place probably has the best soul food in Cincinnati. Most places I have eaten at typically have terrible sides but not this place. I highly recommend the Salmon Croquettes and the macaroni and cheese. This is the best mac and cheese I have ever had (yes even better than grandma's :). And Salmon Croquettes are nice and thick. There are some areas that this restaurant can improve though. The customer service is TERRIBLE. It usually takes a while to get your food or even for them to acknowledge your presence if you come in. The bad customer service is still worth the great food. After you figure the things you like from the restaurant you will find it is best to order your food before arriving and this will no longer be an issue. read more

Rasheedah's experience was very unique for me. I don't usually eat very much soul food and didn't really know what to expect. Needless to say, I left very satisfied. The food was piping hot and fresh. The atmosphere was good and matched its surrounding area. I had the jerk lamb which was the specialty for that day. It had so many more spices in it than I imagined. The taste of the meat was amazing. I had macaroni and cheese and coleslaw as sides, both of which were ridiculously amazing. I've heard great things about the beef ribs, but unfortunately it is only served on Friday's and Saturdays.
