FIVE STARS I live in Miami, FL and have been wanting to try Hook for months but they're usually in seedy areas of town...so when I happened to be visiting West Chester and saw they have a location here, I had to give it a try! I was very impressed with how quickly my food was ready (less than 10 mins). The employee was so friendly too and even threw in some freebies! Food was fresh, steaming hot, and delicious! I could tell they used fresh oil and didn't oversalt which I like. They also let you add the lemon pepper yourself so you can control how seasoned it is. I have been coming to this location for a few years. Not anything to write home about, chicken is bland without the seasoning you put on after it's fried. I generally ask for chicken fried "hard"but it still comes out stringy and slimy. Could definitely be cooked longer when asked for fried "hard". Great place for lunch, I got the gyro and fries! They have 11 lunch specials for only $7.99! Just go past all the other chain restaurants and go here to get delicious food at a better price. The gyro is stuffffffffed with meat, it could rally feed two. Loved their tzatziki, next time I might ask for some to dip my fries in. I thought that I would give this place a try today since I have never been here. Let's start with the guy at the cash register on his cell, (which didn't sound like he was taking an order) chit chatting and ignoring customers. Not friendly at all with zero personality may I add. Once I could order I did and he went on to stick his face into his cell while I waited. Upon getting my order I had to ask for my drink cup and the soda machine was out of Diet Coke. I told him and he didn't seem to care much to replace it he just said grab a can. So far not a fan and I haven't even tried the food. How about one star just in case the food is good. read more

Listen.....these wings are EVERYTHING! My husband and I wanted some late night wings and OMGOSH delicious. This place was just 8 minutes away and I'm so glad we went. The season that was on these wings was amazing. I believe it was ranch and Cajun seasoning. Highly recommend this place. I'll never eat plain/dry wings again. First time visit and not impressed. I ordered 2 pc tilapia and fries. Fish batter was poorly seasoned (even lacked salt) Fries were great - plenty in a serving and well done. Husband ordered 3 piece catfish dinner with cole slaw and fries. His fries were great as well and slaw was delicious too. The catfish was a different story. The filet itself was super thin so the 3 pieces of fried fish were more like fish jerky. Also very poorly seasoned. There were several tables inside to choose from but they were all dirty so we sat ourselves at the least dirty one. When we entered the restaurant we placed our order at a counter then about 20 minutes later we had to go back to counter to pick up order. Updated review: Stopped here on Wednesday, 5/15, at 12:30pm for a Philly Steak Lunch Special. This was my second visit here. You can't beat the deal for the lunch special. It is less expensive to buy the special ($6.99) which comes with fries and a drink for $1 less than the sandwich-only price ($7.99). The Philly Steak was very large and extremely tasty. It had griddled chopped beef, sautéed green peppers, onions, and some mushrooms plus white cheese (I assume provolone) and mayo. It was better than what I had in the past at Gino's and Pat's in Philly, but, hey, I'm from Cincinnati. The food takes about 10 minutes to prepare because it's made when you order it. None of that fast-food stuff. This is real food - and reasonably quick. The owner always makes you feel welcome and appreciative of you visiting his restaurant. If this was my first visit, I would give it a 5, but given my very first experience described below, I'll average my rating to a 4+. ( I hope my first visit was a fluke, because I love a good Gyro.) I came to Hook as part of my ongoing search for good Gyros. I was here for a late lunch - around 1pm - and it was Presidents Day. The place was empty, but not unexpected due to the time of day and holiday. I had the Lunch Special - Gyro, Fries, and Soft Drink for $6.99. The normal price for just a Gyro was $6.99. I was warmly greeted despite the restaurant being a bit chilly in the booth area. (It was a cold, cloudy day outside.). My order took about 10 minutes to get for dine in. The portion size was very generous. There was a huge serving of crisp fries with seasoned salt. They tasted good, but there were way too many. The Gyro, my reason for coming here, was also very generous in size. The pita seemed slightly grilled. It had lettuce, tomato slices, crumbles of Feta cheese, red onions, a small container of Tzatziki sauce, and lots of Gyro meat. Up to this point, I would have given at least a 4-star rating, maybe even 5 stars, but then I started eating the Gyro meat. The Gyro was so big that I needed to use a fork to eat it down to a size that I could pick up. (It was not wrapped in foil.). This was not a big problem. Although I did not see their Gyro meat rotisserie, it looked to me like the Gyro meat was sliced from the typical vertical tapered Gyro "roast". Again, just fine with me. That's how I like it. The big disappointment was that the Gyro meat seemed to have been sliced quite a while earlier and either kept in a warmer or was reheated. The Gyro meat was dry and every edge was a bit crisp. I like some crisp pieces, the ones closest to the heat, but there were no slices that seemed like fresh sliced juicy Gyro meat. Overall, the meat on my Gyro was overcooked. Perhaps the meat is better earlier in the lunch hour, but I will never know since I can get better Gyros elsewhere. To the owner: Was it really worth saving and reheating leftover Gyro meat at the expense of losing a customer, especially when I told the person at the counter that this was our first visit? I might come back to try a Philly Steak if I'm in the area. read more

Doesn't matter the location I really love this place. Choice of cod, tilapia, perch or catfish ... fried to cornbreaded perfection. This is the cleaner and friendlier of the locations. This review is for the Management. I used to visit here frequently but lately the restaurant and kitchen simply do not look clean. This is critical to me when you are preparing and serving food for customers. The dining room and floors are extremely dirty. You can see part of the kitchen from counter and the pets that's visible are dirty as well, so you can imagine what the rest of the kitchen looks like. This may or may not have any impacts on the quality of food being prepared. However, one would assume that if you are not paying attention to detail in regards to the cleaning of the restaurant, why would a customer trust the preparation of food.
