It's a little pricey, but not as for the portions and it is a seafood after all. I had crab legs and they were seasoned well (lemon pepper and garlic butter mix) but slightly overcooked. Usually, I would check out the reviews a place would get before going. However, (being Father's Day) -- and being an avid seafood lover, I decided to try Cincy Crab, without looking at the reviews. I was EXTREMELY glad I did. I don't know what happened in other reviews, but my experience was great. Menu: The menu was simple - one page, two sided, with everything listed plainly. You could choose your meat or a combination, your boiling sauces and the spiciness. However, this didn't apply if you ordered your seafood fried. I had ordered the Cincy Combo: 1/2 lb. of Snow Crab Legs, 1/2 lb. of Shrimp in a mix of Lemon Pepper, Garlic Butter and Cajun boiling sauce. Food: The food came out in a "boiling bag", which you then pour out in your bowl. The shrimp were plentiful, super fresh and tasty. In fact, that was the best tasting shrimp I've ever had...and after YEARS of seafood consumption in my life, that's a HUGE statement. The Snow Crab legs didn't disappoint either. They were large, meaty and delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. My family also enjoyed their food...and that's also impressive. Be warned...use the bib and glove they give you. Snow Crab cracking can be messy, but SOOOOO worth it! Service: The Manager on site was awesome! He seated us and made sure we enjoyed our food. My daughter and I wanted to try green mussels he had recommended, but had found out the kitchen was out. When he heard this, he got in touch with the delivery person and got the green mussels to us. The inside of the restaurant is inviting with nice, smooth, wooden look. There are small oars and a picture of a crab and fish on the wall. Nothing was overpowering as far as the decor. The place was clean and no "fishy" smell. This is a good sign because fresh seafood doesn't have a large, fishy smell. Price: Keep in mind, this is seafood we're dealing with. The price we paid (as a group of 5), was pretty much what I had expected. If you decide to go here alone, I would recommend the Cincy Combo. If you go here with one other person, the Crab Boil Combos would work out to your advantage. They also have Lunch Specials, M-F at lunch times too. Overall: I would HIGHLY--HIGHLY recommend this place for any REAL seafood enthusiast. I enjoy the concept of Cincy Crab. I've been to a few other places like the Crab Boil on the West Coast and Kai in Columbus. Unfortunately I would say that Cincy Crab didn't live up to those establishments for me personally. The service was nice and fast vs the original wait time we got of 1 hour. We sat down after about 30 minutes of waiting. The server came back after about 5-10 minutes, so a little slow. But by then the host had given us drinks. We ordered hush puppies, egg rolls, and the #1 Combo what has a pound of shrimp, snow crab legs, and sides of corn, sausage, and potatoes. We picked medium heat with Mix it all, which is the way to go for places like this. A previous review kind of hit it on the head. For some reason, the seafood lacked depth of flavor. I felt like the sausage was tasty, but the seasoning seemed watery vs other places that really coat the seafood. The egg rolls were greasy, but the hush puppies were good overall. Net, I think they definitely are better than a Joe's Crab Shack it Red Lobster got Boiled Seafood, but I think better experiences at other similar establishments make this a disappointment for me overall. read more

I decided to go on a date night at this location after passing it on numerous occasions after shopping in the Tri-County area. We ordered the hush puppies, egg rolls and the number #1 (consists of 1lb of shrimp and 1lb of crab), the hush puppies were great and being paired with honey mustard you never would've thought that would work, but it surprisingly did. Next, we have the egg roll it was OK, wasn't crisp and was greasy and now to the crab and shrimp the portion size tiny in comparison to the place I patronize in Columbus even though they both specify their portion sizes are exactly the same 1lb each of shrimp and crab, but the sauce was kind of thin and it was lacking depth of flavor. Unfortunately, I had higher expectations for this place after comparing to Kai I'm Columbus, which is a place that I love. The service was great, the place was quick and we had friendly staff the whole time while we were there and it was clean. This place could be better if they improve the consistency and flavor profiles of their sauces, but since they skimp out on that, it shows. One thing I love is seafood. One thing I don't love is believing the hype. So I decided to try this place for myself. There was just something to be desired about the taste. I added on a half pound of sausage to my crab boil and it didn't get put into my bag with the other food. I let my server know right away (he was an absolute sweetheart) and he alerted the kitchen. Family of 3, at 6pm for dinner on a Friday night. The exterior of the building is very unassuming. There is a sign on the outside of the building and a marquis by the street, but both seem to blend into the surrounding retail area of their location so it's kind of a hidden gem. Inside is open, well lit, and plenty of seating for small, and large parties. We arrived to a half-full restaurant as the Friday night dinner rush began. We were seated immediately. Our server came right over, introduced herself, and took drink orders and went over the menu with us, since it was out first time there. A appetizer order of Calamari also went in, with the drinks. Drinks: Pepsi products, and one iced tea. The tea was returned for a soft drink. (The missus is a bit of a tea snob, and she said it tasted like it was fountain, rather than fresh brewed) The Calamari came out within 10 minutes, with two servings of cocktail sauce for dipping. The breading was light, and crispy, and was a nice crunch on the Calamari. We ordered: Two "Cincy Combo's" of 1/2 lb crab legs & 1 lb peel & eat shrimp (head off & deveined) in garlic butter with mild spice. with an order of 5 fried oysters in addition, and a fried shrimp basket with fries & coleslaw. There were plenty of other kinds of seafood to choose from, for the combos if crab legs & shrimp aren't your thing. About 5 minutes later, our server returned with a shell bucket, nut crackers, tool hooks for splitting the legs open, forks, bibs, and two 14" empty pie tins. About 3 minutes after that, the food arrived..... OH MUH GAWD!! The combos come in plastic bags, which allow them to be boiled together in the same large pot, but keeps the sauces and spices separate to tailor the food to your preferences. In addition to the two types of seafood, you also get an ear of corn, and a couple of red potatoes with the combo. Fair Warning: You are cracking crab legs, and peeling shrimp over a pie tin full of melted butter. It's unavoidable, but you're going to get messy. They do provide bibs, but if you're planning on going here as a "first date", then I'd skip the jacket & tie to make a good first impression, because you're going to be taking it to the cleaners the next day, trust me..... The food was fantastic! Hot, fresh, and drowning in butter and spices. The fried basket had large butterfly shrimp, in crisp batter, over a bed of seasoned fries, and a small cup of coleslaw. Our only complaint, was that the slaw was *very* heavy with mayo, and seemed to overpower any other flavors that were in it. It was a small cup, but that was the only thing our table didn't finish. In record time, shells flying, juices & butter everywhere we finished our meals and left nothing behind. Our hands were literally covered butter, up to and beyond our wrists. Portion sizes were perfect, as although we could have eaten more, we left the table thoroughly satisfied. The carnage was so physical, that napkins & wet wipes only took the first layer of butter off our hands. As I was walking to the rest room to take a bath in the sink, I mentioned to the manager at the front that optical wet wipes for those guests with glasses would be a neat thing to have. He held up an index finger as if to say "hold on a sec", walked to the cabinet under the front desk, and grabbed a couple individual tear open packets of alcohol cleaning swabs, to clean the specks of drawn butter from my glasses. AWESOME service and quick thinking on his part. When I returned to the table, our server had delivered our check, and secured another round of beverages in to-go cups for the trip home. By the time we left, the entryway was filled with folks waiting for the next available table, and after eating there I can certainly understand why. We don't get many seafood places in Cincinnati that have really good seafood, so this was a nice surprise. Seems they're pretty new, so the staff was still trying to figure things out. They were pretty friendly though. I ordered combo #2 and took it to go. It normally comes with 2 blue crab, but that's seasonal and they didn't have any. I got half a Dungeness instead. It came with a pound of crawfish and a pound of shrimp. Came with like 5 sausage pieces, 3 corn, and 3 potatoes. I got it with the butter garlic, lemon pepper, and cajun seasoning with mild heat. Everything tasted delicious. The potatoes didn't absorb much of the sauce, but the corn did. The sausage was very good. The sauce was fantastic. Gave a great flavor. The crab and shrimp were the best. The crawfish were good, but a pound of crawfish has very little meat. Not really worth it. The shrimp and crab were great, but a lot of work getting the shells off the shrimp and meat out of the crab. Since everything is coated in sauce, it was very messy. Would have probably been better in the restaurant with proper utensils. I didn't have anything to crack open the crab legs and claw, so opening by hand sucked. Probably would try mussels, clams, or something else that's easy to get the meat out of. Still this was a very flavorful and ill definitely come back. Would be good for a group meal. Would also think it'd be best to get an appetizer or two. Since the price is pretty high on the seafood, could fill up on some appetizers so you don't break the bank getting so much seafood. read more

If you are familiar with Storming Crab this is the same deal. But you get a lot less seafood and sides for your money. You have the choice of 4 different combos you can split or get food individually where you have to pick 2 seafood items at a minimum. I chose 2_1/2 pounds of shrimp for mine pick 2. I was disappointed because I got 1 potato and 1 ear of corn. At storming crab when you buy the combo you get 4 ears of corn and a bunch of potatoes and sausage. You have to buy the sausage separately here. They also do not dump your bags for you. Which is kind of shocking considering they are super hot to touch. Our waitress was a little lack luster, the tea is instant, and the atmosphere was loud. read more
