We were the only people there. The server was a good kid but he didn't refill our drinks unless I went and found him and asked for it. Won't lie... the food, including our $85 king crab (for two legs), was extremely overcooked and we all had some pretty serious stomach issues for a couple of days afterwards. The restaurant itself had pretty good vibes, using the typical seafaring decor (but better). It's unfortunate that it was the highest rated seafood restaurant in the area because I wish we could have spent that $200 we paid on better food... but we also understand that it's not always fresh when you're that far inland so we made the best of it. IF YOU GO HERE, STICK WITH THE CRAB! My wife and I got Dungeness crab boils, calamari, and two pies: cheese cake and key lime. Crabs, potatoes and corn were very good - we'd get them again. But whatever you do, AVOID THE PIES. They were hard and tiny. The calamari was rubbery with soggy breading and average marinara. Skip it. You'd be better off buying calamari from the freezer section at Kroger. read more

I will preface this review by saying I'm from New Orleans and I am a little particular about seafood. But that's only one part of the problem I experienced here. First, the music was laden with expletives, which was not the environment I would have willingly brought my family, including my son, into. Secondly, our server didn't want to be there. First thing first, we got there for an early dinner so the place wasn't packed, with plenty of parking space too outside. We were greeted and seated immediately in one of their booths. I enjoyed the little details they put on their sea-themed decorations, definitely made me smile. The menu was very clear and straight-forward. I wanted to order everything. I got the 1/2 pound of shrimp and crawfish in their buttery garlic sauce, while he got the 1/2 pound of shrimp and crawfish with sides of 1/2 pound of sausages with their Boom sauce (all of their seasonings mixed together: Original/Crafty Cajun, Lemon Pepper, and Buttery Garlic). Man, it was all so juicy and paired well with the sauce - my head wanted to explode from how good every bite was. I gotta say that his Boom seasoning was better-balanced compared to my buttery garlic though, they did the spices right on that Boom sauce. I also ordered the Pina Colada for drink, you can't go wrong with some Pina Colada. It was fantastic, I couldn't be happier with everything. My hopes weren't high. I was very pleasantly surprised! The staff was pleasant. I ordered 1/2 pound crab and 1/2 pound headless shrimp with mild garlic sauce. The shrimp were large and plentiful. The crab cracked easily making crabmeat extraction a breeze. I was worried there wouldn't be enough food; I have a big appetite. Again I was surprised. I was completely satisfied. More would have been too much. The shrimp were the star. Big, plump and delicious. The crab was good. I would order it again. Met a friend here for dinner one evening last week. We both have wanted to try this place for a while. We were the only ones there when we arrived, which made me a little nervous, but maybe it's because it was a Tuesday and everyone else is committed to their new years resolution to eat out less. Obviously, that's not working for me. People came in while we were there, so I was glad to see it. I was worried New Orleans had spoiled me for seafood boils, but really it just inspired my love for them. The shrimp and snow crab boil I got was delicious. Their seasoning was great, I went with mild, because I wanted to see what their baseline flavor is. My friend went with fire, because she likes to feel the burn. Both were delicious, but I'm happy I went with mild! There is a third spicy level, medium, for those who want some heat. For sides, we got an order of hush puppies and the shrimp salad. I enjoyed both, the salad was plenty for the two of us to share, the hush puppies are also a generous serving and could definitely serve more than 2 - unless you love them as much as I do. By the end of the meal, we were both stuffed. I'm glad I finally made it here to try it, and now have a seafood boil place that's got great quality and doesn't require a flight! Crab is my favorite food. So, on the rare opportunity to go on a date, my wife and I came to Crafty Crab. I got a full pound of snow crab, garlic butter, medium heat. It was extremely tasty. And the price was not too bad, at $32. The only major downside is that there's not enough food. They could resolve this easily by including an extra couple of potatoes and corn cobs. Also, we waited forever for them to pick up our credit card, before realizing that we were supposed to pay upfront. Wish they'd communicated that to us. I go out to eat a LOT and few restaurants get it right. This place got it right - right down the line! It was my friend's 60th birthday and I wanted to make it special. I called and spoke with Tommy - the owner - who assured me he had it covered. He told me to call & ask for him by name when I entered the parking lot. Thinking I'd be late, I called Tommy back & described my friend so he wouldn't miss her. Long story short, I ended up getting there on time while my friend - thinking I'd be late - decided to run some errands. Confused yet? Tommy wasn't. Not only was he standing outside in the parking lot looking for my friend (!) when I pulled up, he had a birthday crown & a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us at the table! My friend was absolutely thrilled! But this was only the beginning. Tori, our waiter, was EXCELLENT! He actually sat nearby & told us to simply wave whenever we needed anything! The food was outstanding! Well presented...hot, plentiful & delicious. I got the shrimp & lobster tail bake while my friend got the snow crab bake. Both meals came complete with corn & potatoes. They also came with a full compliment of bibs, plastic gloves & wet wipes. As if a large bottle of champagne wasn't enough, Tori also brought us each a complementary slice of cheesecake for dessert! Most places would have charged for the champagne - and I'd have gladly paid. But not here! It was one of the few times in recent memory where an exemplary experience - not merely the bottom line - seemed to be the controlling premise. I honestly can't name a time when I had a more enjoyable time at a restaurant. From the moment we arrived, each person we encountered made us feel valued, appreciated & truly special. Good seafood restaurants aren't cheap. But money is what you pay and value is what you get. This place is an EXCELLENT value & you owe it to yourself to give it a try. You won't be disappointed! Both of us got the fried shrimp basket with onion rings, and one side of coleslaw. The small basket contained 10 medium sized shrimp and 6 small to medium onion rings. The side of coleslaw was about 2 - 3 ounces. The shrimp and coleslaw were almost tasteless, and the onion rings were OK at best. We will not be returning. read more

First time and first crab place on our list to try if the amy that have appeared in the Cinci area in last 5 years. Atmosphere was fun and whimsical seafood themed and just the right level of casual, but also relaxed date night worthy. Classic crab bowl come default steamed in bag, with 5 steps of choosing ingredients, amount of, seasoning sauce, spice level and add ins. Choose the butter + Cajun sauce and served smothered all over. Never had crab this way - messy and delish, although I'm a crab purest and will next tome ask for sauce to dip on the side ! They provide bibs and gloves and boy do you need it! The crab was tasty for Cinci, just the shells a bit over steamed - so cracking was a bit soft at times. I'm giving 5 stars because the food was great. It's great seeing these types of restaurants make their way into the 'Nati. Long overdue. My husband and I went for Valentines Day and was able to share the Large Seafood Boil. It's a great value for the price. Our favorites were the crab legs and shrimp which was steamed in mild garlic butter. Our least favorites were the crawfish and clams...but they were still very good. My husband ordered a side of fries, which he said were great! Service was another thing altogether. While our server was nice, he kept forgetting to bring stuff (silverware, fries, side sauces, etc) and there was a lot of loud staff arguing. Almost felt like I was on an episode of Hell's Kitchen. If Gordon Ramsey was the one doing the yelling...I would have enjoyed the entertainment a whole lot more...lol. We are already planning our next visit with the family. Just need to keep in mind that an 18% gratuity will be added to 6 or more in a party...which is how many in my family. So... I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Had the shrimp/crab boil which had good flavor with some heat added. I didn't like all the liquid at the bottom of the bag but I really have nothing to compare this to. We've made boils homemade but ours had more seasoning vs liquid. It will be interesting to get a boil down south to see how they are really put together. We also had the fried shrimp basket and that was really good, fries were below average to me. My son had the lemon pepper wings which tasted like some good homemade fried chicken. Bar is not open yet. The buckets for shells had clean trash bags in them but the buckets themselves had drippings from previous customers, YUCK. Seriously, just wash the buckets between customers. That wasn't the worst part, the paper towel rolls had finger prints at the top from the previous customers wearing those gloves and ripping of paper towels while getting juice prints on the entire roll at the top. And the floor was sticky. I could hear some chatter among the waitresses and it seemed that they were talking trash about one another which was just a bit much considering I was there with my two small children. I heard a few curse words here and there. Overall, most of the food was tasty, no alcohol was bad and dirty paper towel rolls and buckets sorta makes me hesitate to return. We went to the Crafty Crab on Saturday night 12/3/22. They weren't busy so we got right to our table. The waitress was very nice and helpful. We ordered an appetizer and drinks and figured out what we wanted for dinner. We chose a boil with shrimp and snow crab with garlic butter, mild, it comes with potatoes and corn. The kids and I love going here for a Big Ol steaming bag of seafood boil! They enjoy putting on the plastic gloves and bibs to tear in to their shrimp and crab legs. It's an a fun experience and great meal. We have gone several times to 2 different locations and never had a bad experience. read more

I found out about this place in 2021 and I have never gotten bad food or service. The food is delicious and they always make my food right the 1st time. If you like fried catfish or shrimp this is the place for you. The boils are great too. I love the shrimp basket with corn. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. I live over 30 minutes away and I dont mind the trip because I know I'm going to get great food and service. The wings are good and fries but the potato is a great option for sides. The entire staff are so friendly and nice. It's a great atmosphere and it's always clean. I have never been disappointed and I go at least once a month. My entire family loves this place. The visions of Spongebob and the Krusty Krab popped into mind the first time my wife and I drove past this restaurant. The former space of the Outback Steakhouse was completely renovated to offer a seafaring environment. I tend to be a little too critical - but, the restaurant gives off a gilded Long John's Silver vibe. To be fair, the restaurant does cater to a crab, shrimp and crawdad boil crowd. Brown paper on the tabletops and buckets to discard the remains of the crustacean offerings. I'm not quite sure how I felt about the presentation- the meals came out in trays that had a clear plastic bag tied off at the top - I ordered the fried oysters - and my wife ordered the fried shrimp basket. The fried shrimp looked appealing and tasted good. My fried oysters weren't so appealing. Even with the breading, the oysters weren't much larger than a marble. The onion rings as an accompaniment were very good - it's sad that the side dish shined a little brighter than the entree. All in all a fair dining experience. Our next venture will see us try the shrimp boil to make a final determination. My take on our first experience is like going to a Chinese restaurant and ordering a cheeseburger. If you decide to patronize the Crazy Crab - stick with what they do best - and that would be the crab, shrimp or crawdad boil! We love seafood so we were excited to try this new place. It was just ok. We've had bad seafood boils and really good seafood boils and this place was somewhere in between. The business is fairly new and I think they are still working out kinks. We came on a Thurs evening and we didn't have a wait. The service was slow but our server was very nice. My husband and I started off with the catfish basket. The fish had no flavor ( hot sauce really helped) and the tarter sauce had a sweet and very artificial flavor that I didn't enjoy. The fries were decent. I ordered snow crab ( mild cajun) with sausage. I thought the sauce flavor was good and crab leg size was decent. The corn was over cooked and you can tell it was frozen. The sausage was sliced really thin, I would have preferred bigger pieces. My husband ordered the same thing but with all of the sauces mixed. He said it was extremely salty. Overall the experience was just ok. Glad we tried it but prob won't return. read more

I believe this restaurant has only been open a month. We went on a Sunday evening, so it was semi busy. We had a party of 6, but only had to wait a few minutes. The food is quite pleasant (got the seafood platter) comes in a boil bag and you get a bib and gloves and all the tools to crack open and eat the seafood. We got the boom seasoning, which was fantastic. The staff was friendly, though a little flustered. They haven't acquired their liquor license and I think customers might have made the staff feel a little frazzled by it and I guess they ran out of crayons for the kiddos to color... I enjoyed our experience, wasn't blown away by it though. New establishments need time to work out the kinks. read more
