I booked with JK Moving services to move my house and family. They had decent customer service - personal number to a friendly sales associate. The moving estimate was extraordinarily high, but we were willing to foot the cost for a hassle free experience. Unfortunately an emergency (flooding) happened at the house we were moving to, and we needed to reschedule our move date. Once we closed on a new house, we attempted to set the move date. We confirmed a new date via email to a customer care coordinator, and attempted to contact the sales associate an updated estimate. My wife and I left numerous messages over the course of two weeks but received no response. We called the main line who just said to wait for a call back to that one associate. Ultimately, and to our surprise, a week before the scheduled move date when we followed up via email with the customer care coordinator, she admitted they had NOT reserved the date and left us scrambling because we made a ton of other plans contingent on this happening. Turns out the sales associate moved within the organization with no communication to us. We demanded our deposit back because attempted in a beyond reasonable fashion to reschedule to our own detriment, but they refused. Do not trust this moving company. read more

We have moved 11 times in the past 20 years and I think this is the first time we've had a move without any damages. The Team that helps you set up for success. We unfortunately had a really bad experience. The large items like our bed and dryer were packed by the company and heavily damaged, dryer broken. We paid the 110% up front after the load up based on the video quote. We had try to get an in person quote as we knew we had alot of items and they only wanted the video walk through. They then held our items hostage until we paid more than double what we had paid for the load up. The driver was great but the crew on the off load side was horrible. Do not recommend. read more

JK handled my move that involved shipping some belongings to a new house and storing others for later shipping to another home. Important items were shipped to the wrong location. It took days just to get a quote for shipping the stored items. When unable to reach to the party I had been dealing with, I'd be put in touch with someone else; each new person didn't know what I'd discussed with the last one. Original artwork that should have been sent to storage couldn't be found. I was assured that warehouse personnel were searching my belongings for the paintings only to be informed later that no search had begun because there would be a charge to open the palettes. Yes, they wanted me to pay them to find items they had lost. I was told that two pieces of art were found in crates in storage when it turned out they had been wrapped in paper and shipped to the wrong location. When there were problems on the day of delivery, the person supposedly supervising the move couldn't be reached for hours. First, I want to acknowledge that the moving crew who arrived at my home was professional, understanding, and sympathetic to my situation. I truly appreciated their demeanor and conduct. Unfortunately, my experience with JK Moving's sales and customer service team was the complete opposite. I found their practices to be unprofessional. I obtained quotes from several moving companies and ultimately chose JK Moving because of their high ratings, despite their quote being higher than the other moving companies I received quotes from. A sales representative conducted an in-person visit to my home, toured the property, and even drove through my neighborhood/development. Based on that visit, I received and agreed to a quote. On the day of the move, the crew arrived with a 55-foot semi truck, which could not fit into my neighborhood. I was never informed that a tractor-trailer would be used for my relatively small (3,500-lb) move. Had I known this, I would have immediately raised concerns about access in my development. Because the truck could not enter the neighborhood, I was told my belongings would need to be loaded onto a shuttle truck and then transferred to the semi -- at an additional estimated cost of $715. I refused this charge and asked to speak with management and my original sales representative. The sales representative never contacted me, and the customer service manager I spoke with was dismissive and unsympathetic. I was told my deposit would not be refunded and was even threatened with additional charges for the crew's wait time while the issue was being discussed. If I had failed to disclose access limitations, I would understand the need for a shuttle fee. However: 1. I reasonably assumed a standard large moving truck would be used. 2. I was never informed that a 55-foot tractor-trailer was required. 3. A JK representative physically visited my home and neighborhood prior to issuing the quote and should have accounted for any access limitations at that time. The customer service manager later told me they rely on Google Maps to determine accessibility, but that the images were outdated -- meaning their own process failed, yet I was expected to absorb the additional cost. As a result, I had to send the crew away, delay my move, and quickly arrange service with another company -- all while losing my deposit. Edit: JK Moving did refund my deposit. read more

Extremely careless, significant damage, and zero accountability I had a terrible experience with JK Moving. Despite paying over $2,000 for this 1 bedroom apartment move, from Gaithersburg to North Bethesda and my belongings were handled with extreme carelessness and multiple items were damaged or broken. The crew lead came across as professional and reassuring and completely put us at ease. He promised everything would be handled with care. We even thanked them when they finished. But once they left, the reality set in. We found extensive damage to our furniture, electronics, and personal belongings. It is clear now that we were misled by empty reassurances, and that our property was handled carelessly and without respect. They damaged my bed adjustable base (now unstable and tilting), broke lamps, sentimental pottery, broke the leg of my fireplace heater and hid it, and a ultra-wide curved computer monitor, and caused additional damage during both the move-out and move-in process. Even worse, items were improperly reassembled, including my bed, sofa and dining room table. I feel like the crew rushed, handled items roughly, and it was very difficult to communicate with them when I tried to express certain concerns because they did not speak English and I had to reach out to the crew lead to translate for me. For whatever reason they did not treat my property with care. They provided a few additional boxes, tape and paper and consider that saving me additional funds so I feel I was sort of pressured to sign the completion waiver before discovering the full extent of the damage and they only attested to the broken lamp. Only after they left did we start finding more and more broken and damaged items. I immediately contacted the company, but getting a response was extremely difficult and no one has taken real responsibility or even called back to inquire and took my money and that was it. For a company that markets itself as "premium" and "professional," this was a deeply disappointing and costly experience for a local move. I would strongly caution anyone considering JK Moving and don't do what I did but to think twice and document everything before, during, and after their move! read more

The worst moving company you could ever do business with. I moved from VA to WA on an corporate move, and they ripped off Amazon at every single turn. I had just moved from NY to VA and the weight was 3000lbs, which was high. These guys claimed it was 7000lbs, didn't intend to unpack at destination, hired a bunch of hoodlums in WA, didn't have box openers, did absolutely terrible job. they packed everything in boxes and triple boxed and wrapped, the packers were eating on my furniture, taking their sweet time to make sure the pack and load could not happen on one day. They have a romanian sweat shop that does the assessment and manages it, totally rude, unprofessional, and rip off artists. this was the single worst move i have ever experienced and I cannot believe amazon does business with company. stay away, and remember, this was a red carpet move. imagine what they would do otherwise. wish i could give them negative stars.. read more

We had a fair number of issues with JK moving that eventually led us to cancel our move with them and look elsewhere. The process of receiving an estimate and the communication within that process was good. We had no issues with walkthroughs, or anything leading up to booking. It was at booking and estimation that we began to hit snags. We received an estimate that had us moving on our day of closing. I communicated to the agent that this would not work and asked her to redo the estimate. After confirming on the phone that she had changed the dates and confirming the nature of the pack/move timeline, I authorized signature on the estimate. Fast forward a few days and JK reaches out to confirm the move with the move starting on the day we close on the new house. This was the first snag. It was at this point that the pack/move timeline changed from the estimate due to the already communicated date change. We agreed to a new pack/move timeline that fit within those dates. Fast forward to less than a week before our move and JK reaches out to confirm our move -with the same dates that we already vetoed and changed- We once again communicated that those dates would not work. It was at this time that JK informed us that due to the move bleeding into a Sunday that we would be charged an additional $57/hr. JK had plenty of time to inform us of this change but instead decided to withhold that information up until the last minute. We communicated that this was not satisfactory and asked them to revert back to the already agreed terms or we would look elsewhere and gave them a deadline to respond (a business day). JK blew past that deadline without a word. We decided to book with another company. I attempted to call JK to inform them of this but they did not answer (I called at 620 in the evening after I had secured another company). I then emailed JK and informed them of our cancellation and received a phone call within 5 minutes stating that they were willing to forego the extra charge. It was already too late. Due to never coming to an agreed contract, as the estimate was improperly recorded (phone logs and email traffic supported every interaction), we requested our deposit back. JK instead offered 50% back. In the interest of not fighting anymore and moving on, we opted to accept the 50% deposit back. Unless you have a basic move, I would not recommend JK Moving services. The people we dealt with were very nice and easy to work with but their attention to detail and up-front communication is lacking. If they cannot record a date properly, I would not trust them to pack my valuables. Update: After seeing this review, JK reached out and offered the full refund of our deposit. I'll add that communication with JK was never an issue aside from the attention to detail. I have upgraded my rating to 3* due to the follow through. read more

From start to finish, the entire process was seamless, on schedule, and professional. Was ecstatic when I unpacked all my belongings and nothing was damaged. The delivery truck driver, Franklin, contacted me the evening before my move to inquire about the parking at my apartment complex located near busy downtown Dallas for an 18-wheeler. Early the next morning before 0600 (move started at 0700), I saw the 18-wheeler perfectly backed up into the circular driveway in front of the complex securing the most ideal place to access the freight elevator while allowing cars plenty of space to use the driveway. The security and concierge staff told me they have never seen a driver be able to do this. We were all super impressed!! When Franklin's team arrived on time to help unload the truck, they hustled while taking great care. They assembled some extremely heavy furniture for me and ensured everything on the itemized list was checked off, delivered, and assembled, if required. We had some breakage this time around, unlike round 1--but worse was that they LOST the keys to antique furniture. And six months later I still cannot open 150+ year old pieces of furniture. Some of the highlights: -showed up over 1 day late for move -over-charged by more than $4000 for unnecessary shuttle services -destroyed property, including electrical box causing a safety hazard, hot water heater, and refused to pay for damages -crew was too small for the job (3 movers for a 3000 sq foot house!) -crew members inexperienced, hostile and disrespectful to owners, neighbors, etc. The list goes on and on. Narrative HHG move packing out Dominik Daul I was informed by JK Moving that the packers will come on 11/14/2024 in the morning at 8am to pack my belongings. In the house, I had prepared everything as good as I could, with labeling each item with stickers indicating : PACK or STAY and bringing downstairs crates and boxes for ease of labeling and loading . Around 11am I contacted JK Moving and inquired about the movers not being there, I was told that they are "on their way" At 2pm the van from "Wes Steward Corporation" showed up with a driver and a helper with an injured leg who was heavily limping and clearly in pain. They told me that their dispatcher had them pack out another house before mine, in Portsmouth, VA, about 90min drive from my house. I asked to reschedule and was told no they can get it done that day. The staff seemed exhausted, had no lunch break, and started packing my things, clearly rushing. I tried to keep and eye on things since they kept forgetting items that were labeled "PACK" or failed to look in cabinets . Somewhere around 7pm they ordered another truck from their dispatcher, a box truck this time, since they realized that they could not get everything packed and stacked in the wooden crates that were intended for shipping. They moved everything into the box truck. Again I asked several times to stop and come back in the morning, since I was getting worried about the quality of the packing as well as the health of the staff. I went and bought pizza and sodas so they would have at least something to eat. They started moving loose items into the box truck, assuring me that everything would be packed and labeled and prepped into the wooden crates for shipping back in their warehouse. By 9:30pm it was fully dark when they started with the garage items, I had to provide light with my car so they could see what to pack - they finished by 11pm. There was no itemized list or clear labeling what was in any given box, except some boxes from the beginning of the packing in the afternoon. Upon delivery in February 2025, it turned out there were at least 11 boxes without sticker or item number, no way to cross check or assure that nothing was missing. Looking at the long list of missing items, it was clear that someone went through the shipment at any given point . The pictures from GrosJean Delivery taken at port in France when they took charge of the shipment showed that the Wes Stewart Corporation" had just tossed everything in the wooden crates- thus resulting in way more space than initially planned by JK Moving and I had to pay a surcharge . When unpacking the boxes I found several items that I had labeled clearly as STAY have been packed and shipped. These were heavy, bulky items like electric household appliances ( microwave, toaster oven , mixer, kitchen machine etc ) that cost even more money to ship and to dispose off and that are completely useless in France due to the different electric current . Not one single box arrived undamaged, tools, small items, personal items were rolling around loose , many boxes were ripped open, my document bins were not marked not sealed and clearly opened, and I was standing there looking items that were precious to my late wife, wedding gifts or birthday presents, tossed together, glass packed with cast iron cookware, books bent and ripped, unique precious items with memories attached, that I had even labeled "FRAGILE", broken and damaged. Lots of the items are not even replaceable anymore , so even an insurance claim payout would not really fix the greater problem. JK Moving holds the responsibility for choosing their contractors, and I hold JK Moving responsible for the damage, the financial loss and the pain and distress that this has caused me. I feel strongly that JK Moving should take responsibility for choosing a bad contractor, and compensate me on top of the insurance claim for losing items that can not be replaced. The response from Bridget Walsh, "Global Client Services" was a 3 line copy and paste reply referring me to the insurance company. No acknowledgement of wrongdoing, no offer to compensate me for the loss of really emotionally precious items from our marriage and my late wife. no compassion or empathy. Just " File the insurance claim. The process from the insurer was extremly difficult, tedious, and cearly designed to deterr as many clients from finishing it. The payout was less than half of what has been stolen, and of course there is no price to be put on unique items that have been acquired over decades of marriage and travel from all over the world. JK Moving services destroyed my $1,800 wink mattress. These mattresses are not designed to withstand extreme heat for extended periods of time. JK moving lied to me and said my truck was moving across the United States stopping daily for pickup and drop off of other people's items. I had a tractor in the truck. The truck never moved for close to a week. The driver also confirmed that the truck never moved and was parked in their lot in the hot Virginia S completely closed with no ventilation. Almost everything in the truck melted to some degree. They are denying my claim because they "are not liable for damage due to atmospheric conditions". These guys are absolutely liars and crooks. Not a good moving company. I have used many professional moving companies over the years from across town moves to multi state moves. I would say this was the worst moving company thus far. First, the estimation process was inadequate. The day the moving truck arrived, it was already half full with someone else's items. The movers tried their best, but they had to end up strapping several items to the back of the truck, exposed to the elements. Then the movers had to travel to another client with our stuff on board to deliver half of the truck. This was not explained to us in the quoting process. We contacted the company to explain our frustration, and they shrugged it off stating this was common policy. BTW...this company is FAR from cheap, so I expected more for the money. The boxes they used were cheap. Most of them buckled under minimal weight. Little care was taken in the packing and storage. Heavy items were placed on top of lighter boxes. Fragile items were not treated any different. We ended up with a couple broken items and a bent corner of our TV. To top it all off, the guys who hooked up our dryer hooked it up incorrectly, failing to tighten a wire. This caused an electrical short (arc) which was hot enough to burn through the back panel of the dryer! Luckily, our dryer was a newer/smart dryer and shut itself off to prevent a house fire. This was a severe safety hazard! We had to end up getting a new dryer for which we made the company pay. I would not recommend this company as they were incompetent from the start. The estimation process was way off, driving up the cost. No care in packing. Boxes were cheap. Damage to appliances. Look elsewhere for movers. read more

UPDATE: this company is absolutely criminal!!!!! They mishandled our belongings and told us that we can't add BROKEN AND MISSING ITEMS to our claim because they'd only honor one claim submission. After moving across the country. So they expected us (or really one person, named Ivan) to unpack the mess they made and assess all damages within a day or two. I look forward to "Amy H's" boiler plate "apology" If I could give this "company" less than -10 stars I would. Their services are an absolute joke and while we received our items on time, several were broken because of improper packing and handling. We were told we needed an extra day of packing due to the size of our move. At first the packers were delayed and then straight up canceled. They showed up 30 minutes later than their promised window and told us they could pack everything in a day - three hours max the following day. As I'm sure you can assume, they spent the entire day at our old house, delayed our cleaners and junk removal service, and complained about the state of the house. NOT TO MENTION they destroyed our electrical box at the end of our driveway, bumped our hot water heater causing it to not produce hot water, and ran over our neighbors plants. I just received an email that even though the driver admitted to breaking an electrical panel and exposing wires, this wasn't JK's fault. Not sure on what planet this insurance adjuster is living on but the air must be thin. In addition to this insanity, JK forced us to use a shuttle service at our old house and new. At our old house they loaded it and moved the "shuttle" which is a U-Haul van ten feet and unloaded it into a semi. This severely delayed the schedule for no reason at all. JK moving then went on to bring our belongings to another state and then to our new home over 200 miles away. Things started out better at our new home when the crew arrived. This was only because JK contracted outside crew for basically no money what so ever. The driver was asleep the entire day both at the stop he chose for the U-Haul shuttle. He came in for less than an hour to find two items I was missing. Then left us with to reassemble all of our lamps and chairs. Another worker complained the entire day while I watched him drop fragile boxes off the semi and place boxes upside down. It took six hours and one of the outside movers to call and scream at the driver to tell him to bring the semi for it to be brought closer to our house. He was told that we told him he couldn't bring the semi. We said no such thing. So long story short, JK moving is horrible, they're only out for their inflated pay and they call asking for more money because they forgot to charge. Please feel free to hire them if you hate yourself or your belongings but don't expect them to take any responsibility for anything ever. DON'T DO IT. read more

Once the items were already en route, we were told the amount due was $1,000 over the estimate and the explanations they gave for this were insufficient and dismissive. Didn't call me until I called twice to find out what happened and where my stuff was. My "contact" did not apologize for their error. Instead she made an excuse stating the error was not her fault. On each of the moves, something broke - a knob on a piece of furniture, dents and rips in lamp shades, a few broken plates. We never filed a claim for these items because we know things happen. But this last move was different. In May, the company moved us back to our home state. The load and unload crews were friendly, but they were rushed. I watched as one of the guys hastily grabbed an heirloom Item. I could hear it crack as he packed it. Days later, when the crew arrived to unload the truck, I watched again as a crew member ripped the plastic wrapping off of my wooden coffee table in a way that makes it impossible to repair. This was on top of the fact that the crew did not lay down floor protection on what was a rainy day, despite me asking them to do so. Again, they were rushing. They tracked water onto my wood floor and carpet. I informed the company of this when my facilitator texted to check in that day to see how the unloading was going. The facilitator's response was "thank you for the feedback." I filed a claim and provided documentation of what it would take to replace the damaged items as requested by the company. I was disappointed that my settlement did not include the full cost to replace the item because of the deductible. I wrote the company and told them I was disappointed in the settlement, which is just a few hundred dollars. The claims person said the company must uphold its standards and policies of the service agreement. What about the standards that we customers expect from the company? I give this honest review to warn people that JK's crews are tricky. You could get a good one or you may get a sloppy one. Either way, I can no longer recommend this company. read more

We have used this company before, about 6 years ago. There were no problems. This move, August, 2024, has been a nightmare. They misdelivered( lost) over $6,000.00 worth of our belonging. 2 months later we are still not getting any answers about what happened during the transport. We finally received the manifest from the move. Someone had FORGED our initials on every page. The list was incomplete. For example: we shipped 8 expensive area rugs. NOT ONE was listed on the manifest. The most expensive rug disappeared during the move. So did my Brother Sewing and Embroidery machine. Art work, gone. Bicycle taken apart and bent beyond use. JK Moving provide absolutely terrible service. It would take a lot of time to detail all the levels of office staff, dispatch, semi driver, and packing personnel incompetence and also appalling customer service I experienced moving from NM to VA with this company. Beware of JK Moving!! "What matters most to you, matters most to us" is merely their slogan. My husband and I hired JK Moving assuming that a large national moving company with almost 500 employees and $300 million in annual revenues would be able to implement a fairly simple, local 18 mile move without the horrific process that ensued. My travertine marble table top was shattered and the crew refused to remove debris from the broken table thereafter. Every piece of our bedroom furniture was dented, dinged or scratched. My grandmother's china, our crystal, and Thanksgiving platter was shattered despite boxes that were clearly marked "fragile" and "priceless". Every move is challenging but this one was especially so!!! When my husband and I proceeded to file a claim, the JK Moving Claims department refused to share the amount or extent of their proposed insurance reimbursement unless we waived our right to dispute the American Express charge. Nevertheless, we decided to do so given the excessive amount of property damage, lack of professional oversight of the moving crew, and the lack of transparency by J.K.'s claim processing team. Unfortunately, American Express advised that a legal process would be necessary as this was considered a "tort claim". Despite $15,000 insurance that we purchased from JK Moving, we ultimately received a proposed settlement of $499 months later. Following extensive correspondence with the claims department and then the general manager, we received an additional $300. We never received credit for the 2 1/2 hours we were overcharged for including: 1 hour for the crew's lunch, 1 hour for their failed attempt to reassemble our bed which they ultimately damaged, and a 30-minute call by the crew to their supervisor at the conclusion of the move. The general manager confirmed that a credit would be forthcoming and then later reneged. His final response was that my credit card dispute "caused complications regarding the refund process....and based on all our records, these credits and debits to and from your account are complete." Not so! My second American Express dispute is now pending. I would strongly suggest that you hire another moving company!! read more

Customer service was abysmal. I repeatedly pointed out that boxes were not properly packed, as they were labelled "Packed By Owner" despite the fact that I simply threw random things into untaped boxes with the intent of having the movers properly pack the boxes upon arrival. When the movers arrived, they were not prepared to pack. Only after my calling customer service did the movers learn that I had paid for packing services. The movers pushed forward, despite the fact that they seemingly had limited packing supplies. This may be why the movers relied on taping/wrapping up what I had already placed in 25-30 unorganized boxes. Packing services cost me almost $2000, so it was egregious to see corners being cut and then have those concerns ignored. Communication was slow and painful. After a while, I was repeatedly spoken down to and ignored. I spoke to Mae, Cinthia, Kristian and even the head of Sales, and each eventually seemed annoyed that I was unpleased with the corners that were cut. They made excuses and refused to acknowledge that the services rendered were unacceptable considering how much I paid. When I attempted to remove services, I was falsely told by the head of sales that I had to move forward with their unloading services under federal law, which is simply untrue. I was so annoyed, I just let things go, but I wish I had done more research and avoided this company. They seem kind and professional in the beginning, but they quickly show their true colors when you attempt to get what you're paying a substantial amount of money for. I believe they are charging way too much for the quality of services they offer, especially in light of the rude customer service/sales department. read more

What a disaster! The first time we moved with JK, several years ago, things worked well, but this tmove was a nightmare. One big frustration was that several of the packers did not use the parts box. Parts to assemble one of the glass stereo shelving systems were lost, but since we did not notice this when the unit was delivered, the JK people decided the claim was not valid. They also used tape to hold blankets in place that were used to cover tables. And due to the high temperatures in the climate controlled facility, the glue from the tape and material from the fabric were deposited onto the corners of the tables (see photo). However, they again decided that this did not represent a valid claim since they were not responsible for the weather. I will never use this mover again. read more

I am a returning client who had been very pleased with JK's services in the past. I liked their promptness, their accountability when they damaged my items, competitive pricing, and responsiveness. However, JK just LOST a customer and the positive word of mouth referrals that would have resulted all due to MAE. I called to schedule another move and spoke with MAE in customer service. MAE was exceptionally rude, unprofessional, unhelpful, and hung up on me. Needless to say, as happy as I was in the past, I will never use or refer JK again. I have moved 8 times in the past 22 years. All of the moves have been within the DC Metropolitan area, except for this last one which was about 150 miles away. Needless to say, it was the most worrisome and stressful move as we were not used to the distance. If it weren't for JK Moving, I would have lost my mind. Christa Moore called me early on and got the process started around February/March. We didn't have a closing date yet because we bought new construction. All we knew was that it was going to be in June. This part was stressful enough but Christa made sure I was well taken care of. She called and checked in on me periodically to see if I need anything while packing, preparing for my survey, and on move & delivery days. She made me feel relaxed and focused. She held my hand throughout the whole process. I finally scheduled the survey with Michael Bennett. It was smooth and easy. He explained every step of the way to make sure I didn't miss anything. I really appreciated his patience and professionalism throughout the whole process. We finally had a closing and move date. The crew, Santos Solorzano, Pablo Herrera, Jaime Herrera, Hugh Hanshaw, and Mario Villalta, arrived bright and early on the load date. They marched in like soldiers ready to take all the stress off my shoulders. They were professional, clean cut, and polite. They worked fast and efficiently. Delivery date came quickly. The crew moved fast and put everything in place. They went above and beyond. I did not have to worry about a thing. It felt like having family in my home. As I mentioned, this is my 8th move and I can honestly say that this was the best move and the best crew we've ever had. I referred a close friend to you a couple of years ago. I spoke with her today and she went on and on about how wonderful her move was. She plans to move again soon and will be using JK for sure! Be sure to have an attorney go over your contract with JK Moving before signing and committing to them. We were so inundated with emails and phone calls from them selling their other services, that we did not notice that a line had been added in charging us for insurance we did not want, and that was not discussed with us at any point. Apparently, the insurance they added onto our total bill also had a $500.00 deductible. When our movers picked us up, they told us they were heading into rain. We saw that on the forecast as well. When they arrived at our NC destination, the driver described the constant rain he had had to drive through. We came to find out, after they left, that his truck apparently leaked. The water damage had to have occurred inside of his truck, since it was a beautiful sunny day for pickup, as well as the delivery day at the destination. We had multiple boxes absolutely saturated with water, and the contents inside actually dripping from being so wet. I took pictures of the box, and the contents. The boxes that got wet, did not have very valuable items in them, but I took pictures of all the saturated items. When I sent them over, Ivan in the claim department said sorry, but because you have that $500.00 deductible, we can't pay you. And it looks like you packed them yourself. So, they damaged our items, but refuse to cover the cost. And, how stupid is it to think that because we packed the box, not them, the items got wet. They don't treat the ones they pack any differently in the truck than the ones the customer packs. Such idiocy. And, their loophole was that we signed the contract that included some insurance we never approved or were made aware of. Get a lawyer to look over your contract before signing. There was also the fact that there had been a bag of change in one of the boxes, and guess what-that somehow fell out of the box along the way. Because we never saw it again. The "owner of the company" always writes to say they are so sorry, and they will use this as a training example for their employees going forward. The "owner of the company" never says they will look into anything, and make it right. Just know that this company can, and will, damage your property, and you will never be reimbursed for it's worth. read more

My family and I used JK moving services to move from Maryland to Massachusetts. Our moving crew was great. They quickly and efficiently loaded and unloaded the moving truck, didn't have any complaints, and made sure we were happy with their work on both ends of the move. They also got our household goods to us in two days. My only complaint about the company was that communication with the office after the quote could have been slightly better. I had questions about some discounts and offers and was advised someone would call me back but they never did. Also, be advised, your weight could be different from your estimated weight. My move was about $300 more expensive than my quoted price. Not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but still, something to consider. read more

The JK Moving team was personable and worked efficiently. However, in the process of moving several items were damaged. We weren't too concerned because we purchased extra protection, since there were some expensive pieces involved. However, JK claimed the damage was pre-existing, and refused to engage in their agreed-upon arbitration process. The combination of carelessness once the items were out of sight, and callousness during the claims process, was surprising given the recommendations we saw here and on other sites. However, their customer ratings have dropped steadily since then, so whatever they were doing right to establish their reputation has been replaced by a different and very disappointing business model and management philosophy. read more
