Wanted to try something new. Walked in to a banquet room - not a typical restaurant setting. Saw on Yelp that they served mimosas- yay! Just want I wanted! ... what a disappointment!! JJ's has zero ambiance. Won't seat you until all in party are present. (Even if the other person is just parking the car.) The food is very good, but we waited AT THE TABLE 35 minutes before someone came and took our drink orders. Then waited and the table seated AFTER us was receiving their food before we even ordered. I invited a friend for her birthday so we visited, but no rhythm nor reason to who is truly NEXT to have their order taken. It was a Saturday at 11:30am, and the place was packed full. We waited 30 minutes to be seated right off the bat. We left by 1:30, but I had to hail down the waiter 3 times for coffee refills during our long stay. No water was offered and when requested, it never made it to our table. The lady seating the guests was not a bit friendly or welcoming, nor was the waiter or the cashier. I would consider it true authentic Mexican food and not TexMex and obviously, the clientele really appreciates this place for that reason. It really was great food and I noticed the table served before us order a big bowl of menudo twice! It must have really been good. Would I return, probably not, unless it was around 1:30, but who wants breakfast at 1:30pm, when we left and there was plenty of seating an no wait time. I recommend it for those who want the good food and don't care about hospitality, ambiance or service. I didn't feel like leaving a tip (monetary), but did and only 10% and that was too much for really lousy customer service. So, you make the call. Good food at ok prices. Maybe a little high considering the food vs lack of ambiance and service. Don't be in any hurry if you go to JJ's because they sure aren't. read more

Came by JJ's on a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly only had to wait about 15mins for a table. Loved the plethora of breakfast food options on their menu and was very satisfied with the o'brien potatoes and the quality of service. Super cozy place to stop by for some brunch! read more

Great food! A huge diner with super sweet staff! There was a bottomless mimosa and brunch Buffett for 10.99. A great menu of lots of options! We don't drink so we stuck with ordering off the menu, asked the server what she recommended and I was very happy with the decision! I got huevos rancheros! I will definitely be getting this from now on. I am a huge chilequiles and migas fan but I thought I'd branch out and especially when the server said it was her fav. Hubby got an omelet and ate all of it! Quality was fantastic, their potatoes are fab, roasted with onions and peppers! I ordered the banana nut pancakes, added scrambled eggs, 2 bacon strips with a side of home potatoes. Hubby had the strawberry Belgian waffle, no whipped cream and added scrambled eggs, 2 bacon strips with a side of hash browns. The pancakes and waffle come without any sides however for $2.99 you can get the scrambled eggs and bacon. The banana nut pancakes have tons of pecans and flavorful bananas mixed inside the batter. They were huge, fluffy and so good! It has some caramel drizzled on top which I didn't mind so much. I'll definitely order these again! Scrambled eggs were good and not runny. Bacon was really good and crispy. The home potatoes were so good and seasoned deliciously. The Belgian waffle my hubby had was pretty good. Soft, but I prefer mine a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It still tasted delicious. The hash browns however didn't have any seasoning. No salt or pepper, they were bland. But other that that everything else was great. Great service by our waitress. They had a large party in their private seating area and our food took a little while to come out but our waitress explained and stopped by several times to give us refills of coffee (Community Coffee) and sweet tea. After our food was brought out, another waitress dropped off some coffee cake slices. Since it was our first time here I'm not sure if this is given to you before you get your order or not. JJ's is a Luby's without the buffet. Baby Boomers were the only diners besides me, not that there's anything wrong with that. The servers were friendly, if a little slow. The food was basic but underseasoned. No glaring issues but don't get too excited if you choose to eat here. read more

My sentiments of JJ's cafe have not changed. The place is absolutely wonderful. I've now tried their Huevos Rancheros multiple times, and I love them! They are more Baja California style than your typical Tex-Mex Huevos rancheros. They consist of two fried corn tortillas, refried beans, cheese, eggs (over easy a MUST, just trust me), spicy (but not too spicy) red salsa, and slices of avocado. The owner is very attentive and always willing to come to your table for a chat. He even brought my 15 month old her own waffle quarter when my older daughter didn't want to share hers. The Huevos Rancheros were delicious!! I would go back to JJ's again strictly for the the Huevos Rancheros. Two fried corn tortillas, sandwiched in the middle you have refried beans, cheese, eggs (any style, your choice, I would go with over easy or over medium), homemade spicy red salsa, and slices of avocado. Though the salsa is spicy, it will not burn your mouth, but it has a great flavor to it. You can choose potatoes (mixed with green peppers and onions) or pinto beans to go with the dish. A great deal at $8.49. If you order the buffet, for $11.49 you get food and unlimited mimosas. The buffet had several breakfast and lunch options, including fruit and desserts. I am not a fan of buffet meals, and the macaroni and cheese that was served on the buffet apparently had vinegar in it. I did not taste it myself, but there four members of our party that ordered the buffet and all said the same thing. The service was great!! Attended with large Sunday mid-morning group, way before the lunch crowd. The place was 1/3 full, so they should have welcomed customers. The lady in charge made everyone crowd in the tiny entryway until the entire group arrived, followed by a begrudging table prep took even after they were told of the large group. The lady in charge said no one else could join our group if they arrived late??? Huh? The group discussed going elsewhere, but too many people to bother. The service was good, but totally without a smile. The server may have been having a bad day. The table hunted for salt, butter, and jelly. We were told everyone in the group must order. The staff was unpleasant; the food was adequate; the coffee bleh; located in the back of a lackluster shopping center; and the fluorescent atmosphere was tired and worn, but not in a charming way. This was their largest billing of the morning, so what gives? Maybe daylight savings time and a sleepy staff who did not want to be there. Definitely not a "cool" WRL spot. I rarely write a negative review of a place of business because I understand owners' difficulties, but poor treatment of customers is unacceptable, and , I hope the owner sees this and addresses the poor treatment of customers. Searching for brunch today with my daughter we came across this spot and I'm so glad we did! Sunday brunch is usually so crowded and we typically wait 20 to 40 mins depending on where we go. While this place was plenty busy we were seated within 5mins and the service was super friendly. They have a brunch buffet but we opted to order off the menu, everything was good, the only complaint would be that the potatoes weren't hot, but we were hungry and didn't want to send anything back. The O'Brien breakfast potatoes was nothing more than boiled potatoes cut up. They had absolutely no flavor or seasoning at all. The scrambled potatoes i had to use several packets of salt and pepper and that still didn't help give any flavor. I don't think I have ever tasted an egg that bland. Jelly for the English muffin...don't even ask. For the $20 for the two entrees I could have bought eggs, frozen hash browns/breakfast potatoes, and an entire package of bacon and had two or three days of breakfast at home for high of us that tasted far better. The service was ok. Nothing to wow me or anything that stood out. The atmosphere, very weird waking I to a big room with with white and gray walls, white ceilings, white tile floor and huge mirrors down one side of room. This place is a lil hidden gem in the side of a shopping mall. My son and I visited for a quick breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty and the service was great. We were so impressed we returned on Sunday with my husband where he dove into the buffet. Needless to say we will return and have already recommended my parents to go and eat there. JJ's is my neighborhood place where "everybody knows your name" or at least wants to learn it. My grandchildren love the breakfast buffet on the weekends. They can sample everything from tacos to pancakes to eggs and sausage. The food is always fresh and it is a clean and comfortable place to dine on any day. Great little spot kinda hidden off northwest hwy. we kinda just drove in for breakfast not expecting much, so happy we did. I ordered the chicken n waffles it literally was that. A huge waffle with 4 piece of fried chicken on top And a side of there popular potatoes. My girlfriend had the huevos rancheros it was pretty good. Came with potatoes that she sub for beans. Our waitress was attentive and informed us of the buffet option which included mimosas for only $11.49. Even though that was a great deal, we opted for individual plates. I got the "2 Egg Plus" plate with bacon. Hubby got the banana nut pancakes. Coffee was hot and refilled frequently during our short wait for our food. One star was removed for the foods flavor. The eggs and potatoes were mildly bland, however, the banana nut pancakes were tasty and had banana cooked into them.
