After a very filling Thanksgiving lunch, my family took a stroll through Pasadena to burn off the excess calories. One of the few stores we found open was Jin Tea shop, and what a fantastic find this was. I needed to end my meal on a sweet note, that didn't involve pie, and this store had these ball-looking pastries on a stick, which essentially tasted like pancake bites. They were light, fluffy, and a perfect end coup de grace to turkey heaven. We also decided to try some of their specialty teas. I opted for an iced oolong milk tea, my daughter got some oolong beauty'm tea, and the wife got one of the fancy made-to-order bottle teas that look like something you'd find on the set of Alice in Wonderland. Perfect ending to out day, and I highly recommend a visit if you haven't been. read more

Saw an IG post that said, "If I'm 'a lot', go find less" and that SISSSS should be the vibe... BREWever! .:: STEEP up your game people ::. Love Potion $7.10: made with passion fruit juice and organic butterfly pea flower tea. Ok, lets be real. We all came for the IG photo right? But tbh, this place actually does a decent job flavor wise too. Usually if it looks good it dont taste good. But very prominent passion fruit flavors, there are seeds so you can see its legit passion fruit. The overall drink its pretty tart, FYI. If youre not into that I would select another drink. Comes in a nice bottle that is twist off. Not too convenient for constant sipping, but very convenient if you are taking this drink around old town while shopping and you can just put in your purse while you shop. .:: Service / Ambiance / Parking ::. The cashier was pretty timid and shy. But not rude in any way. Came on a Saturday afternoon around 3-4ish? Only one person in front of me. Took less than 8 min for my drink. The store front is SUPER tiny. Literally only fits 5 people MAX. No seats, more of a take out and go. The place is nice thou! Simple and clean cut. Looking for an aesthetic drink to post on your foodie Instagram page that isn't a latte? Look no further because Jin Tea Shop has just what you're looking for. Randomly stumbled upon Jin Tea Shop while walking around Old Town Pasadena and noticed that they have interesting specialty drinks; so had to pay a visit after grabbing some dinner. The menu is quite extensive, ranging from all sorts of milk teas and artisan teas. I ordered the Love Potion which is $7 which is slightly pricey, but worth it because they use real passion fruit instead of artificial syrup. Plus you get a nice reusable plastic bottle showing off the nice gradient. My friend got the Oriental Beauty Milk Tea w/ boba and she said the pearls was the best one she has had so far. If you're in the area, make sure to pay a visit! There's plenty of parking structures nearby offering free parking for a little above an hour as well as street parking which is max 2 hours for $2.50. read more

Only the Jin Specialty drinks come in the reuseable bottles. All the other drinks come in regular cups. I opted to get the bottles because they looked nice and sleek, but it turns out that the material is thin and cheap. Now that I have it, I would rather have gotten one of their artisan oolong teas. The drinks are good, although expensive for what you get. For the matcha latte with brown sugar, I think there is a good matcha flavor and the brown sugar is very subtle. The Love Potion is refreshing and tastes just like passion fruit juice. In addition to drinks, they also offer organic egg puffles. read more

Was walking around and got attracted by the color of the drink so we went it to grab something. We got love potion and sunny honey. Love potion was a bit too sour for my friend but the sunny honey was great. Love how colorful and pretty the drink it however was disappointed how small the bottle was! I think it's smaller than the small size at other places! Idk personally, if you're Thirsty 1 drink won't be enough... maybe 3 or 4? read more

Super overpriced and drink was just okay. You can take home the cup if you pay a little extra but it's made out of really flimsy plastic. I tried their lemonade butterfly pea drink and while it was gorgeous it tasted super mid. Wouldn't go back. There are better places around the area. read more

I come across this street all the time in Pasadena but I never realized that this shop was here until I saw it recently. I've been following Jin Tea Shop on Instagram for a few years so I've always wanted to try it because they always show really pretty drinks. I ordered the Butterfly Pea Lemonade ($6.75), and I've also tried the Passion Fruit Oolong Tea ($4.60 medium). I think they only give you their clear plastic cups for their specialty drinks, and everything else comes in the paper cups. The plastic containers are tall but also pretty skinny, however it can still contain a good amount of the drink in it. I really liked the butterfly pea lemonade. It was both sweet and tart, and perfectly balanced between the two. The passion fruit oolong tea was good as well. I think the regular amount of sweetness was fine and not too sweet. They also keep the passion fruit seeds at the bottom of the drink. As for covid regulations, the way they set up the shop is the way that all food take out services should do their set ups. They only allow 1 group no larger than 6 people inside the store at a time, and they set up tables to block the counter so that you are also 6' away from the register as well. They have clear plastic shields at the counter and they also put the receipt trays that you sign receipts on on a stick so that you still keep your distance from the workers there. Once you place your order, they give you a ticket with a number that they will call out on a speaker that you can hear from outside. The drinks didn't take long to make at all, although there weren't too many people in front of me at the time that I went either. Next time I come here I would want to try the roasted oolong tea, because not a lot of tea shops offer that, and it's one of my favorite teas. I'll also have to try their boba as well since I haven't gotten to taste it yet. While the drinks here are definitely on the pricier side they are still pretty good and I would come back if I'm in the area again. read more

I didn't get boba or any other toppings so I can't speak to those, but I'd recommend the high mountain grapefruit oolong tea -- the fruit tea flavor is pretty strong. I usually get 75% sugar, probably could've gone with 50% sugar here. I'd come back, but for what it is, I think this place is a bit pricey. read more

Best boba place I've been to - the tea is high quality! I made a 35 minute detour just to try this spot and it was so worth it. Since I made the trip here, I had to drink more than one drink. It is pricey but I think you're paying for quality. High Mountain Oolong Milk Tea with boba (50% sweetness) - I love high mountain tea and this did not disappoint. I could taste the quality of the tea and honestly wished I had just gotten it without milk. The boba was soft and chewy. Roasted Oolong with boba (50% sweetness) - a solid roasted oolong. The tea quality is hard to beat. Lemon Oolong tea (50% sweetness) - a little bit sweet and tart so it's super refreshing. It was perfect at 50% sweetness because it balanced out the tartness of the lemon well. read more

Jin Tea is one of my go to spots for boba! I always end up ordering their Roasted Oolong Milk Tea or their Oriental Beaty Milk Tea. You really can't go wrong with either. I love that you can actually taste the fragrant tea flavor in the drink. Their boba is usually also made really well. When you go, don't forget to ask for a stamp card! ** I think the owner of Boiling Point also owns Jin Tea, as you can actually order Jin Tea while eating at Boiling Point next door. read more

It's a tad bit expensive but it's really good. Their specialties come in bottles that are so cute and colorful. The staff members are friendly and service was quick. Wow, the high mountain oolong tea was fantastic. It is available hot or iced, and I think hot is the way to go. I ordered 0% sweetness and the flavor was rich and bold enough to stand on its own. You really don't need the sweetener to appreciate the flavor. The matcha latte was also surprisingly good. It is a signature item, meaning it cannot be customized, aside from a choice of sugar (white or brown). The standard sweetness with brown sugar was actually not that bad. And the drink served in a cute plastic bottle and matching brown paper bag. Price is on the high side ~$7 but I think it was worth it. Another small form factor shop. Nowhere to sit inside, and the restrooms are inside the restaurant next door. Parking is available across the street in "Schoolhouse" public lot. Very cheap only $1 for 2 hours. read more

Whenever I'm in the Pasadena area, I always try to stop by here because it's one of my favorite milk tea places. I also always order here when I'm dining next door at Boiling Pot. I love that it's not your usual boba place that has a ton of milk tea flavors, it truly is quality loose leaf tea. It is a little pricier than other places. A pack of their boxed tea sachets for 10 is $22. My go to drink is the oriental beauty oolong milk tea with grass jelly. This place doesn't have a dining area or even seats. You just order inside and wait for your drink. It's a pick up order type of situation. Street parking only and no bathrooms but you can go next door to Boiling Point. Ambiance is average, music plays in the background. Service is quick and they also offer stamp cards. read more

The drinks taste really good. The tea is nice and not too sweet and the boba has a really nice texture. Employees are nice and responsive to questions. Be careful when ordering online though - even though the online ordering website does not tell you, and the confirmation email also does not, they require drivers license and a credit card (doesn't have to be the same one) to verify you. Your confirmation email is not enough. Not the best if you have a habit of traveling light and using just your phone to pay (me). read more

First time here and we both ordered the Oriental Beauty Oolong Milk Tea with Boba Pearls. If you like to order oolong milk tea, this is the spot to try, and their boba pearls were super soft and chewy! If you're looking for specialized tea, this is the place to go. They have a wide selection of various tea in a very nice bottle that I was able to use again. I tired the butterfly pea lemonade and it was really good. It was a little sweet for me but I'm also a 30% sugar kind of girl. I just fixed it by add ice cubes to it. The other no sugar teas are also very good and refreshing. Definitely worth a try and I have many more to try out. read more

I absolutely love this shop. They've got a really nice variety of drinks that made my mom realize she actually really likes boba, just not the big chain, Boba Time esque stuff. Staff are super friendly and patient, gave me no problems with service dog access which I always appreciate. No seating inside as its designed to be to go, but they do have some great retail products you can buy. Keep in mind that egg puffles are made to order and thus take some time to prepare, and that drink toppings are stored in syrups and add sweetness so if you're a a topping enthusiast like myself, undershoot how much sweetness you ask for. read more

Don't bother coming here. Go down the street and get boba from Prolece Tea instead. At least that Boba shop doesn't come with a side of shit service. I mean, does this store just hire anyone who walks through the door? It seems like poor customer service is an essential quality when working here. I never knew anyone could get this low tier of service in a Boba shop, but this chick with a short, pixie hair cut and glasses managed to surprise me(friend's receipt says lily but name tag is Emma? I think). Putting the person with no customer skills at the forefront of your business in the cashier position is probably the worst business decision anyone can make. So here is the situation(2/8/2024 @ 10pm): I walk in with the intention of ordering a regular Boba milk tea. So I simply asked what the equivalent of that would be in this store, because I didn't see 'Boba milk tea' like I see in other stores, or perhaps overlooked it. Every Boba shop has always able to point out to an equivalent drink so I was already imagining a similar scenario. She pauses and then gestures over to the menu saying there are like 4 different tea flavors. I looked at it and said I wasn't looking for the different flavors, but ask again what a regular Boba milk tea from other stores would be here. I probably offended her, but it's like she heard the most outrageous thing ever. She pauses again, except this time she let's out an obvious and audible sigh... Then does the same thing! Gestures her hand to the menu and says the same script! She is actually a robot! She clearly doesn't want to sell me any drinks, so I just told her I don't want anything anymore. I went down the street to a different Boba shop instead. I used to come here but this experience alone is more than enough of a deterrent to never come back. You know what, I'm convinced that she must be the owner of Prolece Tea. She gets hired at Jin Tea, provide doggo tier service, and drive customers to a nearby competitor, aka her own store. Classic. PS: hire some workers with people skills read more

Here are my FOUR star FAPS: Food (in this case Drink): Tas-TEA! It was a delicious matcha, brown sugar drink! It wasn't unbelievably the BEST drink in the world, but I would get it again and recommend it! Ambience: The shop wasn't too busy for a Friday afternoon. Nice and clean with free samples of a berry drink! The space was small, so I can imagine when it gets busy, some people may have to stand outside. Parking: There is the Park and Walk Schoolhouse Garage right across the corner! It is $1.00 for two hours. I'm unsure what the prices are after two hours. There is ample street parking around too! Service: GREAT! My sad, clumsy story was that I was right outside the shop and dropped the bottle. The entire top of the plastic bottle cracked, so I went back to the shop, and they kindly poured my drink in a regular cup. read more

A small shop on a busy street! Street parking is pretty hard to find esp on a weekend. I'd recommend a parking lot unless you get lucky. Even though I was disappointed that the drink I ordered didn't come with those cute bottles, the taste of the drink made up for it. I originally wanted to try the midnight tea with less sugar but they couldn't adjust the sweetness for this so I ordered oriental beauty oolong milk tea with boba instead. Their boba is what I loved. (Review based on 3.5 stars) Jin Tea Shop is located right next door to Boiling Point and also across the street from 85C Bakery. I think Jin Tea Shop and Boiling Point are owned by the same people since you can purchase Boiling Point items on Jin Tea Shop's website. I came by this tea shop with my husband on a Wednesday around 11:25 am. When you go inside, you have just enough room to fit between the door and tables blocking you from walking further. When we entered, we were greeted by an employee behind the counter. We ended up ordering: Day & Night Milk Tea, $7.25- This is one of the specialty drinks and unfortunately you are not able to customize it. From their menu board, this drink is made with activated charco, milk, oolong tea and brown sugar. This drink really was too sweet for me and really wished I could have had it made with less sweetener. But the drink was creamy and did taste good. But to be honest, I don't know if I would pay the high price tag again. Please note that this drink came in a slim reusable plastic container. Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade, $6.75- My husband decided to order this, which also came in a slim reusable plastic container. This drink just tasted like a pink lemonade, sweet but not really tart. My husband didn't really like this but typically likes pink lemonade. But I liked this drink but don't think it's worth the high price. --------------------------------- (Total= $15.44 after tax) After ordering the drinks, we were given a ticket with a number on it and waited outside for it to be ready. Once it was ready, the employee who took our order and made our drinks called our number out on an intercom. But it was hard to hear her but since we were the only ones who came to make a drink order, we knew it was ours (honestly it kind of seemed silly for us to have our order called over an intercom). The prices are really high for drinks here and don't really see myself coming back because of it. But if you think their drinks really are memorable and can taste the difference, they more to you. read more

Jin Tea shop is a pretty good boba spot. It is on the pricier side. I got the party jug-- oriental milk tea with boba and it was about $30. I was a little disappointed with the boba serving size. I got this delivered so I thought it would match the jug serving, but it was just a teeny tiny portion made for 1 person served in a small size sauce container. The boba itself is very good and I would recommend it. It's soft and chewy cooked perfectly. I just wish it came with more since the jug served about 6 people and the boba it came with only served 1. read more

I've only ever found consistent disappointment from both the milk and fruit teas here. I've gone back more than I should because they are a part of Boiling Point and are on the BP menu. The milk teas are really really watered down and bland, I've tried with 50% sweet and 100%, normal and less ice, still all very bland. Perhaps the worst experience I had was with the High Mountain Oolong w/ Passionfruit. There was virtually zero tea flavor and the passionfruit was extremely sour. I've had this place every time and the tea & boba just never disappoints. You honestly can't go wrong with their organic specialty tea! I love their tea because it's doesn't have a watered-down taste to it. I would have to say out all of the choice my favorite is thir oriental beauty oolong milk tea. I've been drinking Jin since they've collaborated with boiling point concept store in Pasadena on Green Street. The quality of the tea leaves is there. It is pricier than ten ren or boba time but absolutely worth it. I was disappointed to learn that they stopped offering basil seeds as a topping. I wish more of their drinks are customizable. I usually order the beauty oolong milk, tea with no sugar, and no ice with basil seeds. I hope they bring back the basil seeds and allow take out of the Logan oolong milk tea. Amazing tea shop with TRUE quality teas! Jin tea shop is owned by the Boiling Point restaurant group. Their teas are imported from Taiwan, so you know they're not playing. I got a Lemon Oolong tea (75% sugar, regular ice) and my boyfriend got a High Mountain milk tea (75% sugar, less ice). Both were so good! I loved mine because it was super refreshing. I'm a fan of fruity teas and this really hit the spot. I would say it's the perfect sweet & sour combination for me, but may be a little sour for people who aren't used to lemon-y drinks. If you're like that, I would recommend getting 100% sweetness. I love how they focus on the teas here and nothing else. No high fructose corn syrup or anything like that. I'm not a fan of teas made with artificial flavors or syrup, and this place was definitely not that. I would for sure come back to try the other teas! read more

I love love love Jin Tea Shop. The tea here is always solid and brewed well. Usually, I order one of their Oolong drinks. They have a variety of Oolongs with different flavor combos as well. The Artisan Teas/ Jin's Specialty drinks which are a little more flashy (ones in the aesthetic bottle) are interesting. Personally, I am not a big fan of Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade. Rather than tea, it tastes like lemonade, so I would not recommend this one. The Matcha is tasty, so if you do not want an Oolong tea then I would recommend that one instead. For parking, Jin is located in between two public parking structures. The one across from 85 degrees is the closest. I believe the first hour is free, so it pretty easy to just park there. Jin Tea Shop has been on my to-try list and it did not disappoint! It appears they specialize in Oolong teas. I had their Roasted Oolong Milk Tea and it was a nice subtle nutty flavor. Their drinks have a true tea taste that isn't overpowered by sweetness. I also tried their #1 Milk Drink with tofu pudding/egg pudding/boba and that was good too. I liked that the milk wasn't heavy or thick, almost like a soymilk consistency. And what makes them stand out is that they carry tofu pudding (other boba places typically just have egg pudding and sometimes milk pudding). Jin Tea Shop is one of many boba tea shops in Pasadena, if not one of many just on Green Street. Jin is a solid four star establishment, using fresh ingredients with good flavors and varieties. The only knock on them is if you order from the Jin Specialty menu, you can't make any changes to the order because the teas are pre-made, so if you're not into tea that's too sweet, choose wisely from their other menu. If you do get from the specialty menu, the Sunny Honey was actually mild in comparison to the other options like Day & Night Milk Tea or Love Potion. We also ordered their Organic Egg Puffle. The expectation was of the same taste and texture of the Hong Kong waffle, but it turned out to be much denser and less sweet than expected. The only real drawback of Jin Tea Shop is the lack of seating. This isn't really a place where you go to sit down and enjoy your tea, rather a drink counter where you pick up your order and go. Otherwise, like I said at the top of this review, Jin Tea Shop is a solid four star establishment. read more
