3 cheese grilled cheese and tomato bisque
Jennifer L.

This was a last ditch effort to find family friendly food in a pinch. They're located inside of the Silver Cloud Hotel. Their lunch menu is very limited and the food was just ok. The mimosas were strong and were only $5. We had the smash burger and it was a pretty good size but the amount of lettuce on it was ridiculous. The grilled cheese was pretty good and so was the tomato bisque.

Moldy limes

We came in for their $5 Bloody Mary (Saturday & Sunday until 11am) and discovered why they're so cheap. The limes were moldy/rotting. The food was good, but the service was impersonal. We weren't offered water and didn't get any when we asked for it.

Sooooo. DELICUOUS. I had been craving Jimmy's food for so long we had to make a post doc visit stop. We got the gem Caesar salads. Mine on the right is the STARTER size; great portion, sundered tomato, pulsed toasty breadcrumb topping, bold caeser dressing, u swapped out my shaved parm for blue cheese crumbles (nice creamy spin) and the entre er split the blackberry grilled cheese. Gorgeous blend of sweet and savory and the tarter sauce is what a true seattle tartar is all about. Dill forward and FULL of zesty diced pickle.

Jimmy's is a hiding gem on the border of downtown. Their signature cocktail are always yummy and their menu is fantastic. They recently got a new head chef and changed their menu and have added some nice items. My ribeye steak last night was amazing with the homemade chimichurri sauce set the steak off. No need for A1 at all. We had our crispy coconut shrimp for an appetizer and the 5 jumbo shrimp were huge. Lastly for dessert with had NY Cheesecake with berries! What more can I say. Get you at seat right next to the kitchen at their high table and get great service! You'll love this spot!

The house red wine and Painkiller cocktail!

I love this place. This is the bar/restaurant in our fave hotel. The staff is amazing and hilarious. I could have died laughing tonight. I wish I got their names but anyway...they are the real deal and why we keep coming back. We had the house red wine and also the painkiller. The painkiller was awesome! We also had their wings with the Korean spicy sauce. Freakin delicious. I recommend them all the way.

Crispy Bao is all you need. Ours was cut to share for 4.

This is what you're going to do. You will go for drinks and Crispy Bao, 1.5 orders per person plus one for the table. You will order the Seaplane and then think WTF, Joy, this smells like feet, but after 3 sips you will embrace the bitterness against the delicious tangy, salty Bao and then you will thank me for leaving this review. (The rest of the menu was pretty standard fare, nothing special, but I'd go back and give my left arm for those Bao.)

Brioche French toast with sweet nutmeg egg custard

Jimmy's has easily become one of my go to breakfast take outs during COVID, with their corned beef hash and a sunny side up egg as my favorite. I'm not usually a fan of thyme, and never thought to throw it into a corned beef hash, but somehow Jimmy's found a way to make it delicious and make me think "okay, that makes sense!". When you first open the to go container, it may appear the portion is tiny, but the portions are great and enough to save for a 2nd meal. I've found some restaurants will try to cut corners, and utilize more potatoes than corned beef, thankfully Jimmy's gives a fair split between the two. I've also had their brioche French toast, and it is thick (but in the best way). It comes with 3 pieces, but given the thickness it's almost like they gave you 4. So far given what I've tried, I'm looking forward to trying their other options. On the off chance they're taking suggestions, I'd be a fan of being able to order a single and/or double piece of their French toast as an add-on.

Gorgeous view of the water. You can watch the local cruise ships as they sail away. Our waiter was great in helping us choose which oysters to try and which wine paired well. Our very attentive Josiah, got our dirty martinis out quickly and picked out our oyster flight. The oysters were perfect, sweet, briny and better than any I've ever had. The mignonette and fresh horseradish make a great difference! Loved every bite! Then we put in for a Caesar salad, cup of clam chowder, 1/2 Dungeness and sweet cream butter and a bottle of nice Oregon wine. The Caesar was perfect with extra cracked pepper. The clam chowder was better than any I've ever had in Boston. Dungeness was perfect sweet, meaty, lightly covered with olive oil, lemon, parsley, some very tasty potato wedges and a side of broccolini. I'll never be able to eat crab legs again without trying to recreate the sweet cream melted butter to dip every morsel in. I ate more of the wedges than I should have... Then my hubby ordered the creme brulee to finish it off!! That's my favorite dessert... crunchy caramelized top, strawberries and fresh whipped cream... we couldn't finish it. The meal was perfect and for the quality, worth every penny! If you're ever here, go to this special place. Life is too short for boring food!

So when I woke up still craving shellfish, RockCreek was the call. It was the right one. A dozen oysters to start: Kumamoto and Shigoku. Clean -- no grit, no sand. Whatever they're doing back there, it's working. The brine was full and present in every shell, and the mignonette hit that rare sweet spot of light but actually seasoned. The Winter Old Fashioned? Get it. It was so delicious. Then came the crab Benedict. The side salad alone was worth writing home about -- big, buttery, peppery leaves draped in one of those feather-light vinaigrettes that sounds simple until you try to replicate it at home and realize you can't. But the real star of the entire plate was the potatoes. Crispy outside, genuinely fluffy inside, seasoned with conviction. A masterpiece is not too strong a word. Closed with a glass of pink wine. Was eyeing the bottle with the piglet on the label, but it was bottle-only -- a distinction I find increasingly arbitrary as a former server and bartender. One day that policy will be a relic. Not yet, apparently. Best brunch I've had in Seattle in two years. Highly recommend.

We ordered some of our go-tos -- hamachi crudo, tuna tartare, and calamari -- and everything was spot on. The vinegar dill fries are exceptional: thin, super crispy, and loaded with seasoning (honestly hard to stop eating). We also tried the loaded fish sandwich and the cornmeal-battered lingcod -- both solid choices. Spicy margarita lived up to its name with a nice kick. It was pretty dead when we arrived around 5pm, with only one other larger table seated, which made for a relaxed, easygoing happy hour. Always a dependable spot when you're craving seafood done right.

Upon walking in, we noticed the server was pretty quick to take the initiative to push a couple high tops together since most of the tables only sat 2. We also had a child with us so he offered us a booster seat. I feel like that was the last time we were treated pleasantly. Our server was very dry and direct when he approached us. I told him my husband has celiac and his response was "Ok." I followed up with so can you tell us what options we have that are Gluten free friendly? (Didn't think I needed to ask after mentioning a severe allergy) He just stepped away and looked like he was trying to find out from someone in the kitchen. He came back shortly after and gave us our options. We ordered a few different things to share, oysters, the fish dip and mussels tostada. The vibe we got was that he did not enjoy serving us because we had a child with us and I seem to be asking him too many questions. That is the impression he left with us. I will say the oysters were very fresh and enjoyable. We also got the crab Mac n cheese which was cheesy and tasty. We asked him for some more chips since we ran out quickly for the smoked oyster dip. He seemed annoyed but got us more. I could overhear that he sounded more pleasant with the other guests surrounding us. The mussels tostada flavors were nice but I didn't love the texture of them which is totally just my preference. He dropped off the check shortly after and noticed there was a 18% gratuity which I found out is standard for downtown Seattle. Being in the industry I do think it's a courtesy to mention it when dropping off the check to a guest. On another note, I did think the seafood tank in the center was cool because you could see all the geoduck and oysters they were offering. Overall, I think we wanted to enjoy our experience more but the servers attitude and demeanor towards us was off putting and we just tried to eat quickly and leave. Don't think we'll return to this location.

To be honest, Half Shell and Mr. Fish next door feel very similar to me in terms of service, vibe, and food quality, so I almost think of them as companion spots. Both have that relaxed, fresh-seafood feel. Would I fight the terrible parking, traffic, and pedestrian congestion just to come here? Maybe, maybe not.
