Emily's Garage is one of the Seattle city-approved vehicle safety inspection mechanics.  They offer…read moreASE-certified TNC inspections, pre-buyer inspections, diagnostic services, and general car inspections.  They have three locations - Everett, Tacoma, and Burien. For the vehicle safety inspection, I didn't have to make an appointment.  It was fine to do a walk-in. When I visited Emily's Garage, there was a customer who was pretty upset with the repairs and the cost.  I was able to hear what the customer had to go through but I would not comment on that as I have limited information. From my experience of getting my vehicle inspected, I was very surprised at how quickly they were able to complete the vehicle inspection.  It was done in less than 2 minutes, and I paid over $50 for that service.   For comparison, when I had my vehicle inspected at Les Schwab Tire Centers in Portland, they spent over 20 minutes to thoroughly inspect the vehicle and the cost for the inspection was only $20.   Will I re-visit Emily's Garage for the vehicle inspection?  Probably not but if the state requires me to get the vehicle inspection done, I will probably have no choice as there are not that many shops that offer the ASE-certified inspection.

Apparently they did not check the online system for our appointment. They told my wife it would be 45 minutes. She took a long walk came back and nothing had been done. She confronted the manager after she waited 2 hours. The next morning there was a puddle of oil in our driveway. She returned to Midas to see if it was a filter or drain plug leak. They checked and found no problem. He told her the puddle of was from the air conditioner condensation. I believe it actually is from them spilling oil onto the engine during the service and they should have stepped up and held themselves accountable. Instead they tried to bluff their way by saying it was air conditioner condensation. We have had good service in the past but will not be back.

It was my girlfriend's Subaru Impreza that had no existing issues until it left the Lake Stevens Valvoline a few days after an oil & differential change. Check engine lights, over heating, fluids not at the manufacturers requirement and much more. They had me start the car before the air box was latched down all the way. I had Eric (the manager) come check the car out. He asked if he could test drive the car to see what was going on, and not even 2 seconds into driving, he drives over a curb like the idiot he is and didn't even apologize for it. End result is the motor and possibly the transmission are warped and will cost more to fix than the actual KBB value of the vehicle. And of course they will do whatever it takes to deny a claim for negligence.

If coupons are at the discretion of this particular location, then state if in print so people can clearly see it. Ultimately the coupon was scanned and applied to the invoice with no further discussion, but why would he say that at all regarding the discount price? Of course, one should expect the up sale, it's part of the business model and it was put into play in this scenario, (you know, the conventional oil isn't that great,) "Yeah, well, it's in the budget. I drive 30 miles a day, it'll do. I was advised that I had some various leaks, but when I asked for further elaborations, I got no reply unless he didn't her me make my inquires. No effort was made to correct or adjust so that we could have good communication. They did not seem very concerned or offer to have the engine cleaned. I notified the customer service department at Valvoline. They told me to notify them if it continued to leak. After it was leaking after several weeks, I notified them. I did not get a response. I called again to follow up, they said that someone would reach out to me. I never heard anything. I followed up a 3rd time once it was determined that the car had been overfilled and oil spilled but did not hear anything. Suspect they really don't care about the job they are doing so I would go elsewhere.
