Customer service here is hit or a miss depending on who's working. Today's visit was a total miss. Tried to charge me for labor to install my own bought cabin and air filters. They claimed Mercedes are more difficult to install. Don't they check the filters anyway?? After they spoke to the supervisor, they said there will be no charge to install my new filters. When I checked my invoice, they DID NOT remove the charge. Supervisor also told me they have reset the service reminder message which they didn't do. It was a frustrating experience. Quick and easy service. I had never been here before and wasn't quite sure what to expect. We pulled into a bay and then they had an indoor seating area to wait. It only took about 20 mins for our oil change. They checked the tire tread, the windshield fluid, and the air filter. They didn't try to upsell me on anything which I really appreciated. We tend to take for granted those things that just *work*. For readers that are old enough to remember landline phones, we (in tech) used to call this "dial-tone reliability". Whenever you picked up the phone, the dial-tone would be there. You didn't ever question it. Grease Monkey on Bothell Everett Highway is "dial-tone reliable." We've been taking our cars there for several years now, and they have never failed us. Oil changes are quick and reliable, and when they offer additional services I believe that those services are necessary and they are very reasonably priced. On this past visit they changed my engine air filter for what the part alone would have cost me at Napa. On our last visit with our Prius, the oil filter housing cracked when they removed the filter as it had been seriously over-tightened at the last service, which ironically we had done at the dealership while having the brakes serviced. The Grease Monkey tech spent an hour gently chipping the fragments off of the engine before replacing it with a new housing. Total cost to me? Twenty-some-odd bucks for the part and no labor charge. That's how you build extreme customer loyalty. So why only four stars? I really wish they'd take appointments. Sometimes you drive up and the bays are full of cars getting *lots* of work done and you end up waiting a while before they even start on your car. Worth it for the quality and value of the service, I just wish I could book a timeslot in advance. Long and short of it, I trust these guys with my cars, and that's no small thing. read more

I brought our commute beater for an oil change. I called first and talked to Adam who gave me an estimate of around $60 up to $95 . No appointment needed so I drove from Lynnwood to Bothel. While they worked on the car, this young man shows me the air filters for the car cabin and engine. They didn't look terribly dirty so I declined his offer to order them for me. Moments later he stated they have to unscrew a skid plate to get to the oil filter and would cost an additional $7.00. Bottom line, I paid $145.84 in the end. 4 stars? Nope! Barely one star because what good is your estimate if you're off by 50%. Disappointed and giving feedback so they can improve by not taking the scam route. By the way, I'm 71 years old and this is the first time I was charged for unscrewing a skid plate on this car or my other two cars. Laughable. read more

I consider this a quite satisfactory experience. I called Grease Monkey in Bothell in advance for oil change on my 2009 Honda Odyssey. They told me it was first come first serve; and they gave me the choice of conventional oil for $52+tax or synthetic oil for over $80+tax. I went with the conventional one. They started work on my vehicle as soon as I arrived. Within 20 minutes they finished the job. They also performed multiple-point check on the vehicle. They charged at the price as they informed me over the phone. Since this is the first time I used their service, I checked the engine oil dipstick myself and was glad to confirm their work. Car maintenance is no exception and any driver cringes at the thought of spending a few hours at the dealership for their beloved ride to be serviced. We drove up to the oil change bay and an attendant had already pulled our information and vehicle for service. The waiting area is clean and complimentary wifi, water, juice, and coffee are available. There is an ETA board showing the progress for each bay. The attendants visits with each driver advising them of the status of fluids, air filter, and other critical vehicle systems. Some conversations were simply advising the customer that their air filter or tires are in great condition and their vehicles are in top shape. 20 minutes passed and we are driving away from the bay. Up till recently I would have given this place 5 stars, been going here regularly for every oil change for the last 10 years. But my last visit was a complete and total disaster. I had two things done: 1. Full synthetic oil change 2. brake fluid change Trouble started as soon as I pulled away. My car was running rough. A week later my car was stalling out and a check engine light was on. Then I brought it back. They told me they could not help me as they could not find any issues. I took my car into the shop and they came back with 3 things wrong with the vehicle: 1. An oil leak cause the oil filter was installed incorrectly. 2. break fluid dirty - you know cause that flush. they claimed they did. Did not do much. 3. A hose was ripped probably caused when taking out the air filter... you know the thing they always do when they try to upsell you on filters... The mechanic said it was easy to find. I went here to get an oil change and check some small issues before a road trip. I told them I've been having some issues with my car squealing and squeaking and that I thought it might be a belt of some kind. They didn't check the belts at all the first time, but when I went back to have them check the transmission levels, I asked again. I was told the belts were fine and that the sound was my AC compressor and that it wouldn't impact the drivability. Drove a total of 28 hours for this road trip there and back and thankfully made it home. A couple days after, I started smelling burning rubber when I would turn. Today, I got some engine lights popping up, so I took it to a nearby shop. My engine belt was completely shredded (pic attached) and I was told this damage wasn't possible in the short time between my checkup and today, even with the long drive. This was incredibly dangerous and I had no idea. I'm lucky we made it there and back safely. I'm supposed to be able to trust the word of the people working on my car because I don't know better than them. If I did, I'd fix things myself. I can't say I'll ever take my car back to grease monkey ever again after this. I don't understand how something like this gets missed, especially when the driver specifically directs them to the issue. It's baffling. read more
