I live in Seattle but came to this location because I was in the area. I was a little hesitant because I had a not-great experience at the Ballard Grease Monkey location. This was a great experience. The only upsell attempts were upgraded oil and the air filters, which are both due to be changed. I declined and will do them myself, but the receipt showed the prices for the filter changes, and I thought those prices were pretty reasonable. My conversations with the guys about oil change intervals were good. They finished quickly. They evened out the tire pressures. Will definitely drive up here for future oil changes. read more

Stopped in to this location to top off my wiper fluid before heading on a road trip as stated directly on their website as part of their top-off service. "Between visits and feeling low on fluids? Stop in--we'll top you off, free of charge. We'll check and fill things like motor oil (up to 1 quart), windshield washer fluid, power steering, transmission, battery fluid, and even your tire pressure. No catch. No appointment. Just quick help to keep your vehicle running strong. (Antifreeze not included in the free refill program.)" The first guy didn't even know how to open my hood. The second guy reluctantly did so, then came to my window and said, "just so you know, we don't do top off's here." I told him that I had specifically checked the website before coming to ensure that Grease Monkey does this and his reply was "well, the website is wrong. You are only entitles to a 1 quart oil top-off during a service, not other top off's anytime. Besides, we aren't set up to do that anyway." I told him I also go to Kenmore and they don't have any problems with it since it IS Grease Monkey's policy, they just fill a jug and bring the fluid to the car if the bay is full." His reply "well, go there then. We don't do that here." and proceeded to walk away. Think outside the box, buddy, and know your work policies. 1 star at best for the 1-time semi top-off of wiper fluid. Zero stars for customer service. Won't be back. As I said in my earlier review of this joint i was told I must use synthetic oil but I later looked in the owners manual and it says MAY not MUST. I'm changing my review to a 1 because they flat out lied to my face. Run away from there and don't look back! They also told me my anti freeze was failing multiple tests and looked original but I had it flushed and replaced 1 month earlier. So 2 lies in 1 trip to get my oil changed! read more

I like how they didn't pressure me to get the air filter changed (as it wasn't terrible) but just wanted to let me know. I went ahead with both services and had a great experience. We came here for an oil change. It was around $70 for the High Mileage Oil Change. Way more affordable than the dealership was going to charge us (where we bought our car from), they were asking $130. Grease Monkey knew exactly what oil type our car needed. We know sometimes you go to a mechanic for one thing and come out with a long list of problems and the engine light on, so we were wary of this but none of that happened. They only came back with reports of 4 things needing to be replaced and it was all filter related. Which wasn't a big deal for us. We declined 3/4 of the filter changes and they didn't try to push the service on us. It's been about 3 days and no engine or other service light is on. We didn't have an appointment but they took us right away and it took around 15 or so minutes to complete. Nice guy at the front desk. Good experience overall :) They also have a small table with crayons and coloring books for the kids. read more

I went in for a basic oil change. Upon leaving, I noticed my car had a burning smell. After driving some more, smoke started billowing from the hood. I quickly drove back to the shop, hoping my car wouldn't catch fire and that serious damage wasn't occurring. I was told that the mechanic who'd completed my oil change earlier hadn't properly secured a cap, causing a leakage, hence the smoke. I expressed concern over all of the smoke, and was mildly apologized to and told, "These things happen, it's just human error." They said they had done their best to clean up the leakage, but my car will still smell for some time. I was offered no recompense for this- only a brief, cursory apology. I feel like I just paid to have my car damaged. I will not be coming back. read more

I have been here twice. Once for an oil change, with cabin filter and air filter change. The other time was for filling my air conditioning system on one of the hottest days of the year last month. Truly the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I brought my truck in to have the oil Changed and the cabin air filter replaced. My office Is two minutes away I asked them to do the work and Call or text me once it was done and I would walk back and pick it up and pay they said there policy is you can't Leave that I needed to stay and wait for my vehicle. I pretty much never like going to the mechanic. I almost can feel the deceit coming from each word they speak. I do not get this feeling from Mani. He's very hardworking, honest, and reliable. They vacuum the car, clean the windows and get me out of there in as quick as it takes me to manually cool down the free hot coffee they offer. Went in for an oil change and came out with the airbag light on. They behaved very rudely with I pointed out the problem and refused to consider responsibility. I asked them to pay for having the dealer verify the problem and they refused. Upon inspection we discovered they had unhooked the wire to the collision sensor located near the oil filter. I pulled up to the parking lot, and was on my way inside to check the price for an oil change. The tech was in the driveway and told me, "oh I can tell you the price right now. It is 87.99, but there is an online coupon to get 10 bucks off." No asked him if that included everything and he said, "yeah that is for everything." So 77.99 wasn't terrible for my truck for a synthetic oil change. Well somehow my bill came out to 111.00. I got charge 10 bucks a quart for a few extra quarts despite the tech telling what the out the door price was. read more

I went here for the first time recently because my usual spot had closed. The staff was friendly and I was out of there within one hour. The waiting room was comfortable and clean with roomy chairs, plus free refreshments while you wait. I appreciated the interior vacuum and free plastic refuse bag I was given with my receipt. I had a very pleasant experience with no pressure to buy further services. I'd check for online coupons. I was able to print one out via their website for $10 off my oil change. Sadly my car requires a higher priced oil (thanks VW) so the coupon basically paid for the taxes on the service. I will return to them for my next oil change and update my review accordingly to see if they get another star! read more

We recently took our 05 Cadillac Escalade to Grease Monkey for a quick oil change and they said we needed a transmission fluid flush - literally a week later gears are slipping, my husband took a look and it appears someone created a little hole in the transmission line closest to the ground. I can't say I am 100% certain they did it, but it was completely fine before we went there now we are stuck with a transmission issue on our most reliable vehicle. read more

I've come here once so far for an oil change. Had an offer for checking in on Yelp for $28.99 for a full service oil change. When I told the cashier when checking in, he told me to wait till I paid. When it was time to pay, the guy didn't look at my phone and gave me $10 off the $39.99 which was a few cents more than the Yelp offer. I don't care about the few cents, I care about the fact that he did as he pleased and didn't give me what was promised on Yelp. Took 40 minutes for an oil change with one car ahead of me in the bay that was already being worked on. Takes 20 minutes at the competition. Was given a coupon for a restaurant I don't visit along with a trash bag I don't use for the car. They held the door open for me when I left and also on my car. Meant well, just didn't jive with what I do or use. read more

WARNING! I used to go to Toyota to get my oil changed but figured I would save money by going to Grease Monkey. Well.. they took my car in and then the guy came out and said Toyota had screwed my cannister cap on too tight and that it was cracked to begin with. So the guy told me i had to go to Toyota to get my oil change. So I went to Toyota and they inspected the cannister cap and said that it looks like it was just cracked. And also, if it was really cracked since my last oil change, then i would of had oil leaking out of my car for a while now. So now i have to pay $60 to replace the cap that Grease Monkey broke! read more

The location is so convenient, that I would really like Grease Monkey to be 'the place' for my car oil changes. I took my Passat for a routine oil change. What could be easier. In the end, they up-sold me on other services like air-filter replacement. Okay, fine. They were very polite and friendly, although I had the feeling some of the recommendations were not needed. After they returned my car, I noticed that the plastic covering between the windshield and hood was broken directly over the new air filter. Perfect, now the new air filter was soaking wet. But wait, this story gets better. When I opened the hood, I discovered that the arm that holds the hood open was busted and leaking fluid. After locating a broom stick to prop the hood, I noticed the engine freshly covered with oil. Apparently the cap wasn't screwed on tightly...easy fix. Then I noticed that the dip-stick was missing. Upon further inspection, the dip-stick handle had snapped off...can't make this stuff up. It's was almost funny the condition they returned my poor old Passat with no mention of these problems. Now I drive to Mr. Kleen in Lynnwood and get a free car wash afterwards. read more

These guys are straight up engaging in illegal upsales practices. I had my "technician" come out and tell me that 3 of my fluids were beyond dirty and that I needed to flush and replace them all or I was going to do serious damage to my truck. This included transmission fluid, power steering fluid and one other. I was skeptical and brought my vehicle to my regular mechanic, who assured me that my fluids were just fine and mentioned that the employees at Grease Monkey are on a Commission-based pay scale. These folks are unabashedly lying to customers to get more business and make more money. I highly recommend going anywhere else. Wow, they are so fast, it's hard to believe! They even have timers on all the bays, so you know exactly how long it's been. They also told me about something that needed to be replaced on my car. I always check with my mechanic about stuff like this because I've had other places (not Grease Monkey) scam me telling me I needed stuff done that I really didn't. Doug's employees put a substance on the threads of our car for oil cap, oil filter cap, and oil plug he called tamper seal without our knowledge. This yellow substance is to prevent him from being scammed from customers who drain their oil and say his shop was caused engine damage. Auto techs from 2 other business confirmed this yellow substance damaged our vehicle by fusing the plastic oil filter cap and oil cap to our engine. Doug claimed broken oil filter caps is common in what he sees. It appears his practice of using this substance is what is driving the damage since the other two shops did not share this practice. When I mentioned the two auto shops who called out his shop for the damage he claimed they were all bad auto shops and it was my mistake for not taking the car back to his shop. Stay away! read more

First of all, I've been going to this grease monkey for 2 years, always thought the service was fine, not outstanding, but what else do you expect for an oil change? This last time I went I was in an extreme hurry as I was leaving from there to pick up some friends to head out of town for the weekend. They tried to sell me all kinds of add-ons that I frankly just could not afford. I politely told the guy I was only there for an oil change and couldn't afford anything extra at that time. He continued to push the extras, so I firmly said I would not be purchasing any extras that day. He said that was fine and the oil change was completed. Within minutes of leaving, I was headed onto the freeway and my car started acting funny. The idle was rough, and I knew something wasn't right. I pulled off the freeway and the car stalled at a light. I had no time to turn around and go back - I called an acquaintance who owns an auto shop and he told me there shouldn't be anything they did that would cause my car to idle rough and stall so it had to be something else. I continued to drive my car, rough idle and all, and managed to get it back to my apartment, where it finally stalled again. At that point, we had to be out of town quick so I had to leave my car behind and repack all my crap into a friends car. I get back from the trip and take a long look at the engine, just to see if anything looked "off." Sure enough, the hose connecting my engine air filter to the engine and what I think is the 02 sensor was pulled off. Not something one can do by "accident." I am sure it was done on purpose. I reconnected the hose and the car runs fine. So to you, Grease Monkey Upsell Guy, one star for being a royal douche, dude. Good job on losing a loyal customer. read more

Ok so the facility was clean. Guys were friendly enough. They did everything with complete transparency. BUT I was totally turned off by the fact that I was charged for 5 QTS of oil even though my car only required 2.6 QTS of full synthetic. I couldn't get the other 2.4 QTS in a bottle, couldn't get a discount..... 2.6 QT oil change for $69. Then I was told that for a transmission fluid change (which I know I should do) was going to be $140 for 10 QTS of transmission fluid. Well I know my car takes less than 4 QTS... forget it. I've always been a do it yourself type, and the one time I came in to get it done by someone else, I've been burned. Never again. I'll go back to taking care of my own vehicle maintenance. read more

My dad and I have been going here for years for oil changes. They're always very professional, kind, and fast. Right after the last time I went, my car was acting very weird and since I hadn't done anything with it but go to this Grease Monkey on 76th I figured something must have happened while they were working on it. The manager, Shawn, was nice enough to meet me where my car was parked and helped me personally right after he got off work. I have been to this location with my 96' ford explorer about 4 times. They get the job done. The waiting room area is clean, and if you have kids there is a play table for them (although Im sure that is not sanitized daily). Up to date magazines, and TV is all you need for that 20-45min wait for the oil change to be complete. One thing that people have to realize is that you'll always get the awkward convo about how you need to do this or that TODAY! Lol they have to do that, just politely decline if you don't want to do it and that's it, no pressure. They vacuum out car and give you coupons. Go for it! read more

Unpleasant!!! There has not been a time I have gone to Grease Monkey on 76th that I have had a good experience. It is simply not enjoyable talking to the manager. I keep going back because it is close to my home but am now convinced to look for any other alternative. If you are wanting to be talked down to or argued with then this is the place. Even explaining my bill was a conflict. When I asked why the bill was so much, with my coupon, the response was, well that's what you paid last time. Don't get me wrong, they change the oil fine but it is just not pleasant. My three girls refuse to go and that is a shame due to proximity. I wish I could support this local business. read more

I have been coming to this Grease Monkey for years and had multiple vehicles serviced. The last time I was there, I spent over $600.00 on my ford F350. I was on my way home today and made a right off of 212th into the grease monkey parking lot. The owner was fueling up a generator that was being towed by what I assume is his Jeep. They had so many cars lined up, that there was no access to the 7-11 (my destination). One of the attendants (the manager) came out and said he wasnt going to be able to give me any room to get thru. I asked if he could get the keys and move one of the vehicles. He told me that that's business. I informed him they were blocking access to 7-11, which is also a "business". At that point the owner rudely told me to "go around & that they were not going to move a vehicle for me. I told the owner that I am a long time customer but would no longer be doing business at this location. He pointed to the jiffy lube sticker in my window and said that is not his sticker. I then informed him I have multiple vehicles and he just lost all of my business. As a business owner in Edmonds myself, I cannot believe how rude the owner and attendants at this location were. Maybe after reading this they will take some classes on human interaction and good business practices. read more
