OMG, Arne's is absolutely fantastic!!! Carlos is the owner now, and his customer service is outstanding. Someone at the Washington Department of Ecology recommended them and I have been going there for everything automotive since. It has been seven or eight years now and I would NEVER, EVER consider going somewhere else. Carlos takes the time to make you feel well taken care of and you definitely are. The prices are extremely reasonable and clearly explained. I trust Carlos absolutely and know that he would never do anything on my 2001 car that isn't absolutely needed. Great guy! I was driving today and out of nowhere one of my radiator hoses came loose and my car overheated in front of the shop. I walked in and explained what happened to him and he immediately went and grabbed me some coolant and gave it to me free of charge! I drive a 1999 Toyota Rav4 and Roger has always been good about telling me whats wrong with my vehicle, why the part has gone bad and how it affects my car, what he plans to do to fix it, and how soon I can pick up my car. Not only is he very reliable, he is also very honest. As a woman, it has always stressed me out to deal with mechanics because I've been ripped off in the past and given ridiculous bills. I highly encourage women to take their cars to Arnes and ask for Roger. His prices are always consistent. Your car will only need to come in when it does have a problem, not every couple of weeks like the dealerships claim. My boyfriend who drives a 2004 Toyota Tacoma- his front right axle broke due to old ball bearings. Roger was able to squeeze him in same day and took care of it right away! In 2000, I rolled into Seattle dead broke with a Honda Accord with 220k miles on it. One day, when pulling out I realized the car would jump straight to third gear... making it extremely slow on the take off. I limped into Arne's Auto at the old Ballard location and Roger said it sounds like the transmission was shot. Not knowing what else to do, I assumed I'd just go further in credit card debt and get the transmission replaced. A few hours later, Roger called and said something was just clogged, they "blew it out" and everything is working again. They barely charged me, when a dishonest mechanic could've taken me for a few thousand dollars. In the next 15 years of living in Seattle, I never went to another mechanic. They've handled everything from basic oil changes, to tire replacements to an actual transmission replacement years later. All well done and all fairly priced. I've since moved to North Carolina, but wish there was a way to get my car back to Arne's! read more

I can not believe we had the city's BEST mechanic literally less than a block from our house! I have been going to see the same guy for the past five years on the east side but when our Ford Focus died and we needed to tow it to the nearest shop we decided to give Arne's a try.
